To conclude our stay in a short description: very nice and friendly staff like Daniel from the F&B at the bar and Bernardo from the reception desk, they do everything to make sure that you will have a nice stay. However, the first night, we had dinner at the restaurant of the hotel. I had a beef tartare which was really nice but both of our main courses were not excellent. I had canneloni with meat which had an awful taste and the presentation and smell wasn't great. Our room was always very cle... Read more

Located a little out from the city centre but near the Anjos metro station. Modern hotel with all facilities expected from a 4 star hotel. the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, especially Ricardo at reception. Highly recommended and I will be using this hotel again in a few months when back in Lisbon

We stayed for two nights in this hotel. The services provided are basic but the room is clean with a good bathroom. The service at the front desk is very friendly and helpful. The location is just a bit too far from downtown to walk. Breakfast is also quite basic but okay.

They are honestly not a four star hotel. The room feels like prison. The food at breakfast was horrible. Yes they did screw me on a refund that they promised to give me while I was there (and was very sweet about which now I am not sure if the gentleman was being insincere or not) when i got back to the states they said no. But the reason I even wanted one was because the accommodations were NOTHING like their website and I ended up leaving and switching hotels as a result and now I am out $800... Read more

I initially wondered what made Tsar a 4-star hotel and they said to me, the accommodations. Upon arrival, I knew that was a joke. The rooms (I say rooms because I asked to switch) are extremely tiny and extremely dirty. My carpet had numerous stains throughout, tears, etc. and I had to request my bathroom be cleaned when I got there die to clumps of hair in my shower. This all after I moved rooms to this "bigger space," which was also a box with a terrible mattress with lumps and no give, not co... Read more

Both my wife and i have just returned from this lovely hotel. It was first called TSAR and has now changed to CZAR and under new management. All the issues pasts guests have had have been addressed. Go there and try it! Well done to everyone who works there and especially the reception staff Elsa, Ana & Ricardo who are simply the best. Good location, near metro stops and downtown is only 10-15 minutes away. We will certainly go there on our next visit without hesitation.

Location and price were adequate, there is a garage which is a big plus and not expensive (10 per day), however this place need a serious TLC - shower door was broken, door in the bathroom is old and not closing properly, beds are not comfortable. Chairs outside of hotel were all broken. Breakfast was so, so , not too match variety of food and same thing every day.

Stayed here for five nights. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my stay- the hotel was very comfortable. However, it lacked any character whatsoever. The breakfast area was entirely functional and the bar was as soulless as you could get. Lisbon is such a wonderful city yet this hotel could be anywhere in the world. If you purely want somewhere safe and comfortable to stay, the you won't go wrong. However if you travel to experience different cultures give this hotel a miss.

Basic business hotel. Close to Metro but must walk by several homeless men and their dogs to get to it. Room is basic and our view was horrible as it is the back of all buildings in square. Staff are friendly however was told 45 minutes after ordering a simple appetizer at the bar that the chef had just arrived! Breakfast is very simple bland foods. First room was not as booked and had to change. Maybe 3 but not a 4 star stay.

Came here with my partner for 4 days and stayed at the Czar. Great service from Ricardo, one of the concierge at the hotel. Guided us well and recommended the top sights to visit and how to get there. Room was reasonably sized and was comfortable. Buffet breakfast was far more than the usual continental, there was far more options available than the usual breakfast availed. Was a lovely break as a whole.

Ricardo the manager was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble - even saw us off at the taxi - opening the boot to put our luggage in. Such a helpful individual - added to the success of our stay. Indeed all the staff had happy smiling faces - nothing was too much for them Great team!

We're just back from an amazing trip to Lisbon and a wonderful stay in the czar. From the moment we entered until 7 hours after we checked out, the staff were incredible. They went out of their way to be helpful and were all so friendly. The room is what one would expect from a four star hotel. I could find no fault with it. If you are expecting silk it's not far off. It's not right bang in the middle of things but it was so handy being beside the metro and 15 minutes walking from the river. T... Read more

Me and friends have been here for one week. We booked a four star hotel because we hoped to have a good hotel but instead we were looking forward to leave this hotel. First of all the room is too small. We had no place to move in the room. We had to keep our lagueges on the floor. They use to change the blankets and towels but I am sure they never cleaned the floor (moquette). The shower with a shower screen but too short so all the water use to go out of the shower and it was very dangerous tha... Read more

The staff was nice and the room and bathroom were clean and nice. Very comfortable beds!! It is pretty close from the metro station. The street in which is located is not exactly in the touristic area but it's close enough.

The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful... this hotel also is in a very good spot of the city close to a metro and not far from the tourist district and attractions. The food was tasty but sometimes the portions were too big. The rooms were also very nice with good air conditioning. Very good for all groups of people. Will probably use again if I visit lisbon again.

The hotel is situated a bit out of the way from most touristic places, but right near the Metro station. The touristic spots are all within walking distance. The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to help and make you feel welcome. Rooms are a little small but have everything you need. The bathroom are luxurious and I love the glass partition between the shower and the room. I have no hesitation to recommend this hotel and look forward to staying there on my next visit to Lisbon
