The room was excellent and had everything that we could possibly have needed. Service was prompt, polite and accommodating. Our daughter received a complementary bottle of champagne to celebrate her birthday whilst she was there.

We arrived at the Janelas Verdes at 10.00am expecting to be turned away until later that day. That was not the case! We were welcomed and offered complimentary breakfast whilst our room was being prepared. Throughout our 3 night stay the staff could not have been more helpful and welcoming. The room was clean and airy although the bed was a bit narrow and hard. The hotel had a wonderful feeling of being in somebody's private house with interesting artwork and comfortable sofas plus a ... Read more

I wish we had stayed longer. As Janelas Verdes staff went above and beyond! Just a lovely stay! Our daughter was spoiled, as we were. We loved the finishing touches of the hotel. Our bed was turned down, a bottle of port in the room, great toiletries, extremely clean and the breakfast was delicious! My daughter made a drawing for one of the ladies up front, and she made our daughter a thoughtful drawing in return. Top notch stay in a beautiful city.

We stayed there for 5 nights. We got a great 55+ senior rate and when we arrived we found they upgraded us to a suite with a fantastic water view and a sitting room. The ground floor is all open space with the breakfast area where they serve coffee and snacks all day, nice sitting areas and a walled garden. They have a library/terrace up on the 3rd floor with self-serve drinks and snacks (reasonable fees for the drinks). Great view and very nice sitting area. Breakfast was nice with a variety of... Cannot say enough positive things about this charming boutique hotel - lovely welcome at reception and all the help and advice we needed for getting around Lisbon. Very clean and tastefully furnished - fabulous breakfasts too. Not quite central but well served by transport links so easy to tour Lisbon and visit coastal towns of Cascais and Estoril. Good restaurants nearby too. Staff speak excellent English which was fortunate since Portugese is not an easy language to learn in the few days we ha... Read more

I selected this hotel after doing extensive research and wasn't disappointed. It's a charming boutique hotel that is discreet (no explicit signage making it easy to pass it). Our room was spacious (bedroom and bath), very clean and comfortable. Breakfast included is a pretty big spread with drinks and light snacks offered throughout the day. Very friendly staff especially at the front desk (Elsa was so helpful). The library up on the 3rd floor where you can have a drink in the evening has a wond... Read more

We spent two weekend nights in June 2016 in room 27 (double on street-side). We liked the atmosphere of the hotel, old-style yet functional. Ground floor and 3d floor public lounges (3d floor terrace) are very cosy, free refreshments. Good bed, excellent breakfast in secluded garden.

Greeted by a friendly helpful staff. An easy walk to downtown and many other sites. Close to many restaurants, buses, trams and trains. A nice view of the Tagus from our room. Snacks available all day and a good breakfast which features whole oranges and a juice press. How sweet!

This is great hotel - gracious and helpful staff. On the first day got a wonderful map with lots of local detail filled in by the charming receptionist. You are not in the thick of things, great local restaurants for dinner at night and on a great bus route. It's very welcoming....iced water ready and waiting whenever you return, and a true delight is making a cup of tea or drink to enjoy in the Library after a weary day wondering.

This is a great place to stay in Lisbon. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was lovely, great to be able to sit in a pleasant garden. The wifi in our room wasn't working for a couple of days however the hotel dealt with the problem professionally and more than made up for the problem. Front desk staff were particularly helpful and friendly.

I chose As Janelas Verdes for a short break in Lisbon based on Trip Advisor reviews and using a booking agency with whom I can get additional Avios points. Based on the reviews, I was optimistic that the hotel would be fine. My expectations were exceeded. From the outside the hotel is modest in appearance, but inside it is charming and elegant. The staff are all super-friendly and do their best to be helpful. To be honest the young man on the desk in the evenings is quite new and does not rea... Read more

This hotel even has a terrace, and some rooms with a arbor view. Nice bar room where you take what you want and make a note of it. Absolutely excellent breakfast. Free coffee and cakes in the living room during afternoons. Complimentary port wine in the rooms. A few garage spots. Very nice staff. Just avoid the rooms toward the street if you want to sleep with an open window.

The hotel is in a quiet street and quite unassuming from the front. The inside is beautiful with so many personal touches it feels like home! Breakfast in the garden is wonderful with champagne at breakfast and a wide selection of food. The room was light, bright and airy with a view over the river Tagus. Evenings spent on the balcony off the library sipping chilled white wine were magical. The honesty bar works really well and the little kitchen to make hot drinks with complimentary pastries an... The best of the best Elsa & Adelide were so helpful. I had had a serious accident falling down stairs of the flight from tap from Boston to Lisbon. The only thing better than the staff is their homemade fruit salad at breakfast. The hotel is in a great location with lots of local restaurants to try and close to attractions. I'll stay here the next time we visit Lisbon.

Comfort and elagance are key in this property and the staff supports this in all of their efforts. All of the hotel spaces and rooms are expertly appointed and maintained. In the evening we enjoyed a beautiful sunset on the deck outside of the library, while occasionally stepping in to replenish our scotch from the honor bar. We stayed at As Janelas Verdes for a long week end and had a great time in Lisbon. This small hotel is close to the Museum of Ancient Art is a quiet neighborhood, which isn't a particular area of interest, but has the merit of being close to transportation (bus in front of the hotel to Belen and to the more central areas of town, tram within a 7 min walk). Stayed one night at this lovely, quiet boutique hotel where the staff were super-helpful when our plane was delayed. It's not in the middle of everything, which means it's much quieter, and it's a cheap cab ride to Bairro Alto or Rossio. It is right next door to the excellent Museum of Antiquities and a 10-15 minute walk to the fantastic Ribeiro Time Out Market. The room was huge, too. Would definitely recommend it and would return.

We had a great experience in our brief stay. Great staff, great facility. The library and breakfast garden are beautiful spaces. The library has a great view of the harbor.
