Recommended by our local agent as close to centre, good hotel at the price. Small lobby with seating arranged at coffee tables hence room for around 20 to sit. 2 TV's plus one behind bar. Bar is an exaggeration. Just the end of reception counter. Breakfast room in basement but very spacious and good breakfast. All the staff were very good and friendly. Seemed to be a lot of UK guests. It's handy for town centre. Mostly quiet though we had a ground floor room adjacent the side street hence distur... Read more

We have visited this hotel as a part of our honeymoon. It has a good value for money, location is 2 min from metro station so you can reach other places with ease. Staff is really friendly and will answer all your questions, and room was nice and tidy. They have also surprised us on our check in and gave us better room for our honeymoon. One day we will return for sure. Oh and breakfast was delicious :)

I spent one night there for work but would not recommend it or go back there. It was a bit expensive for the quality offered, as it is just one of many standardised hotels without any specific charm or local touch. The bedroom was alright ??although I had to change room as the first one I got smelled a lot like cigarette smoke?? but the breakfast was quite poor.

Newly refurbished(2014). Friendly hosts and clean well-prepared rooms. Very good value. Location near Marques de Pombal, a little way from the centre, but the Metro is very efficient and the City sightseeing ( grey line) leave from the roundabout.

We chose this holiday inn express as we have a liking for boutique type hotels and it appeared to tick the box. The reception area and general seating areas were modern and funky, brightly coloured and very attractive. The receptionists all helpful and accommodating. Our bedroom however faced on to a wall, with very little sunlight coming in and it wasn't what we imagined we would be staying in. It was dark and unwelcoming. I now wish we had asked to be moved but as we are rarely in the hotel we... Read more

With years experience in working at European similar hotel chains I know what to expect from this hotel. However, well trained staff wasn't able to smile at check in, not informing us that we got an other type of room than booked, breakfast was a big disappointment. Lots of potential; beautiful building, good rooms, location but not reaching its possible capabilities..

We stayed 5 nights here: 2 adults + 1 small child and overall we were pleased. Hotel interior is quite new. Room is compact, but functional. We had a cot (a low pack 'n play) for our child in front of the sofa so there was less than 1 ft of usage for the desk. Room was facing interior (windy staircase view from window) so fairly quiet, but walls are quite thin as we could hear folks upstairs. There was no exterior view or sunlight from our room, but that suited us fine as we were mostly in... Read more

Would recommend this hotel for a weekend break in Lisbon. Chose it based on value and location near a metro station and not in a hilly location due to elderly relative. Location is great you can hop on the metro, buy a 6 euro pass for 24 hr travel and they run until after midnight. Hotel is modern and clean, rooms well maintained and we asked for a room with a view which is what we got. Staff are helpful and breakfast is a basic continental breakfast but enough choice and based on the overall p... Read more

We took a two & a half week trip to Portugal staying in Lisbon from May 25 to may 30 at the Holiday Inn Express. It was well located a five minute walk to the Narques de Pombal metro station. Could also walk downhill Avenue Liberdade about 20 minutes to Rossi station/center city. Clean comfortable & modern room with a small balcony. Tasty & delightful breakfast. Front desk staff very helpful if needed and informative. The hotel is in a business area so in the evening it's very quiet with only a ... Read more

Stayed here for a few days in May and overall were really pleased... Good location, close to metro..The room was nice, clean and surprisingly quiet (the only minus no fridge in the room)..Everything in the room was in good condition.. Tasty breakfast, no hot items, but portuguese pastries were worth it. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We are currently in Lisbon for 4 days in Room no 107. Holiday inn Express is in a convenient location, 5 minutes walk to Marquis de Pombale metro. Rooms are clean and modern. Travelling as a family with a teenage daughter and yet the room is a comfortable fit. Reception staff are helpful. Breakfast items are regularly reprenished. Great Portuguese custard tarts on the breakfast menu every day!

Stayed for one night after the cruise. It is not far from the downtown area: 8 Euro with 1.6 Euro surcharge included for a taxi ride from the cruise terminal (the one near Alfama). It is an overall great stay. - 5 minutes walk to Metro (Marques de Pombal) - Very clean and modern room with good size - It has an electric kettle. Maybe a norm for some European countries. Nice small hotel with the rooms recently refurbished. We booked two rooms for four days. The reception personal are nice and helpfull. The hotel is located in a bussiness district at 25 minutes of walking distance of Placa do commerco. On the negative side, the breakfast is a bit weak (not a lot of good orange juice, no eggs, small choice). No in-room dining neither available, but there are a lot of places to eat nearby.

Booking was "cancelled" but then they managed to 'retrieve it'. We skipped breakfast because it was horrible, no safe in room and none available 'to give us', tight squeeze (no, their rooms are not equipped to take 3!?safety hazard anyone?). We also found out that that as members we got charged more than if we paid through different websites. On our return to Lisbon, we stayed at Turim just up the road (cheaper, better value, comfy beds, proper hotel and good breakfast).

Location - very good. Close to good restaurants - I specially recommend Chimera a couple of blocks away. Breakfast-room is very noisy (especially the coffee machine and some guests as well). But the options for breakfast are ok. Rooms are small - but adequate for some nights. I had to change room due to non existing WiFi in room 614 - it was much better in room 311. My complaint was addressed quickly and the room was changed. Reception staff are very efficient.

Probably one of the best Holiday Inn Express hotels in Europe. Lounge area nicely decorated, even luxurious. The rooms are as good as other new Holiday Inn Express hotels. Clean, wonderful shower and a great bed. All you need after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel is in a good neighbourhood and a lot of things within walking distance. Restaurants and shops nearby. A lot of guests at the same time for breakfast and therefore a bit long to get your coffee. Staff very friendly and helpful.

I've stayed here before and recommended it but standards have slipped. For the prices they are now charging, I expect better. Terrible mattresses - sagging on one side. I asked to move after second night and would have asked again but was only staying two nights. If a mattress is so worn it has deep indentations, don't act surprised when I report it. Good hotel for the price we paid, but we wouldn't visit again. Breakfast is of overall good quality but quite limited. Coffee is very (very) bad. Avoid all but the café latte. Bathroom has white and blue lights, which gives a very strange atmosphere. Also, the white lights don't provide enough light when using the mirror in the bathroom (room 608). Shower door didn't fully close and floor in front of the shower was subject to limescale and fungus.
