Lovely room. Excellent staff. A bit of a hike into Lagos and no shuttle bus service so take suitable walking shoes! We booked for B&B and, although early in the season the breakfast buffet was incredibly busy and a bit of a 'bun-fight' on occasion. I used the indoor pool but lack of any staff supervision meant that young children were using the sauna until I complained to the leisure staff. The evening entertainment was poor for a 4* hotel - parrot shows and a reptile show in 2016??

We spend 4 nights in Lagos mid-May. The hotel is not in the city center but on the beach, its location was very convenient to us as my husband had booked windsurf lessons at Windsurf Point surfing school (1mn walk from hotel). The reception and restaurant staff were both extremely nice. Our room was available before noon, which was a good surprise. It was super clean and spacious. Seaview is a must ! We were on the 2nd floor, I guess that 3rd is even better. Outdoor pool is huge and we had no... Read more

The good news is that you can walk to the beach and the pool is fabulous. The bad news is that you can hear every sound that comes from the room next door. I could hear, not only conversation, but the shower, and squeaks from the tub, electricity, etc. There is absolutely no insulation between the rooms. The hotel must have been constructed like office cubicles, only the dividers go all the way to the top. The staff were fairly indifferent at check-in, but they were very accommodating about... Great loaction on the beach and really good staff. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is because of the terrible seagull problem this hotel has in the pool area. There are so many of them and they have left an awful mess that it is uncomfortable to be at the pool. This is such a shame as it's a gorgeous area with 3 big swimming pools. Apparently the gulls are protected so there's not so much the hotel can do about them so this is not their fault just very unlucky for them. The rooms are clean, fo... Read more

Just back from a 9 day stay at Vila Gale Lagos. Nice modern spacious hotel with huge outdoor pool area. Never a problem getting a sun bed and access to beach & walk to marina both good. Loved Lagos itself and had an enjoyable stay at Vila Gale. Only negatives were the breakfast experience which was chaotic due to layout of dining room and positioning of Buffett stations and the seagulls who were regulars in the pool & poolside. Not sure what the hotel can really do about the gulls but not parti... Read more

After spending 7 wonderful days with my wife, 5 and 3 year old at the Vila Gale Lagos I was more than impressed. It was our first 'all-inclusive' experience and it was perfect for my two fussy children. The room was lovely, we had a family room at the back of the hotel overlooking the kids club. It was quiet, well-appointed and very comfortable for us all. The kids club itself made for a nice break each afternoon and a good change of scenery too. This hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk into the center of Lagos, via a pedestrian bridge over the river. Or a cab ride is about 5 euros each way. My standard room was spacious, and it had a lovely balcony with a view of the pool and ocean. The bed was comfy with plenty of pillows. The room had a safe and mini-fridge. WIFI was free in the room. The bathroom was adequate, although I found that all of the Vila Gale hotels have an odd bathtub configuration which made it very unwieldy - and rat... Read more

Clean, efficient, modern hotel. The facilities are very good but for me the selling point was access to a nice, safe beach and a pleasant walk along the same beach in to Lagos town. Use the tiny water taxi (60 centimes each way!) to get you across the river and save walking all the way up and round the Marina. Can't comment on the food as we only had breakfast in the hotel, but the choices and quality of that were very good.

Clean, comfortable luxurious enough for our budget - not tight but not limitless - with access to a 'proper' beach (I'm an Aussie - we have standards ;) ), maybe some surf nearby and enough cultural things to do in the general area to make days outside the hotel interesting and easy. Absolutely loved my week here, the staff could not have been friendlier and also the food was amazing. It's a shame it was buffet only but aside from that I loved it. Will be returning asap to get back on that beach

We were with a golfing group. The hotel is close to the beach & within walking distance of Lagos. The sunrise colours were splendid. The facilities are very good as was the service. The check in staff were able to cope with large numbers arriving by coach. Good value for money & ideal for large numbers.

Just returned from a group trip. Hotel has lots of space, loads of sunbeds around a big pool area. Buffet breakfast was good and a bit of a fight amongst the crowd, but to be expected in a big hotel. Rooms are very modern, clean and have large balconies. Nice beach across the road with a selection of bars in walking distance. A decent walk to get in to town through the marina and best to get a taxi back. Perfect for what we needed on this occasion. Not sure I would want to stay here for an ann... Read more

Very nice hotel, great pool (although I wish they would heat it). Short (20 min walk) to town and a 15 min walk to the beach. Rooms tend to be a tad dark due to poor lighting. Would stay here again. Breakfast buffet is very nice.

This is a beautiful property with a grand front lobby, immense extended pool, large dinning room, lovely rooms, balconies for every room and easy access to the cleanest, widest and longest beach in the Algarve. It is lovely. The following are not complaints, they are observations, more for your AMUSEMENT : Where the luxury falls down by North American standards, is in the little things; thread bare towels in the rooms; no face cloths; showers with half-walls that cannot prevent water from splash... This must be the best located hotel in Lagos. A short walk down to the vast Meia Praia - one of the most famous of the Algarve beaches, and a within walking distance to Lagos city center with all its bars and restaurants. The hotel is modern, only 3 stories tall, which makes it fit well into its surroundings, well equipped with big outdoor and indoor pools, gym, spa, tennis, mini golf, kids club, etc. The food in the restaurant was very good with a great buffet for breakfast and dinner (proba... A 7 year old immaculate looking hotel, the entrance is stunning and spacious, the grounds look well kept and lush with beautifully pruned trees and well defined borders. The bedroom was on the ground floor and had 3 beds, again new and smart with an elegant bathroom. The outdoor pool looks good with lots of available sun beds. The theme was very modern with mannequins in areas badly dressed with old BHS clothes and fashion brochure pictures cut out and exploded into 5 ft size posters, bottles o... Read more

I have stayed at this hotel many times since it opened seven years ago and I have never been disappointed. The location is fantastic- across the road from the beautiful Meia Praia beach, 10 mins walk from the Marina and 20mins walk from Lagos town. Everyone who works at Vila Gale is friendly and eager to make your stay as pleasant as possible, especially the hotel manager who welcomes any suggestions for improvement. All the rooms have balconies and a fridge which is really useful. My room was... Read more

We stayed here end of season (Oct 22) for 10 days and we cannot speak any higher of this hotel. Nothing to report in any negative way, when we arrived they kindly upgraded us to a sea view room at no extra charge. The rooms were cleaned by friendly staff on a daily basis if required or happy to leave you be if you didn't. All staff greeted us with a smile or a greeting always. We hired a little run about and where glad we did as although there is swimming etc this was a much older crowd at this... Read more

A very impressive hotel and a very enjoyable stay. The staff were most hospitable, welcoming and friendly. The room was excellent as were all the facilities. Touring in the area we decided on the spot to seek a hotel, this one turned out to be an excellent choice. Would happily stay here again

We spent 10 days at the hotel. The staff were great, very attentive, polite, multi lingual. The rooms were good, always clean and tidy. Although we found the beds on the hard side. The facilities were good as well, outside pool, indoor pool, sauna, steam room & gym. We were all inclusive, which covered food and drinks. The food was germanic based as the majority of clients were Germans, but this gave a good selection of foods at breakfast, lunch and dinner. We also had one complementary... Read more

It was supposed that the scheduled hours of spa for children under 12 years were 10:30 to 17:30, however, no body respected it, so there were full of children screaming and diving from 10AM.Even though a receptionists was there, she did not her job. Im really dessapointed. I would not recommend this hotel.

We returned to this hotel for a ten night all inclusive stay with 9 & 11 year old and two adults in half term October 2016. The hotel itself is modern and clean and across the road from a lovely soft sand beach, the food is good with a good amount of choice. There is a free spa (sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, pool) that all can use and also paid locals can use, this runs a no kids after 5.30, these rules seem to be listened to by the brits but not so much other nationals, if kids are still present ... The overall hotel was a resort feel. Very big nice lobby with friendly staff. A large breakfast and dinner buffet. We had a car and it was perfect to drive to the surrounding areas. You could walk to Lagos from the hotel. As it was off season, we didn‚??t use the outdoor pool, but the one by the spa was nice with different showers and sauna. The only minor complaint was the hot tub was not hot. The rooms were nice with a large balcony and lots of space. Our cups were quite dirty when we ... Read more

The waiting staff, wine waiters and show chefs were professional, friendly and went out of their way to make the meal perfect. Couldn't fault the reception desk or spa staff. We a... Read more

We spent a week on an All Inclusive Basis at this Hotel. First impressions were excellent nice big foyer and lovely rooms on the 3rd floor over looking the pool/gardens. Bar/Waiting/Reception staff were all lovely and went out of their way to help where they could. Very large reception, very dark corridors. Rooms spacious, but had an invasion of ants in the bathroom and the tops in the bedroom. They were dealt with after our 2nd complaint. Staff were all lovely and helpful.some of the hot food was not hot, and some germans push and shove in the dining area, and there were many of them. Very boring on an evening as out of season, and the background music was dreadful. No one attended the meeting we were invited to, to air our views on this hotel.lovely gr... Read more

We stayed for a week at half term in October/early November. Weather was super whilst we were there, only one day or rain. The hotel is lovely, seems very posh on first arrival with the fashion theme, but it is mainly the same as the others in the chain just with a different theme. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from Lagos main town. We had a junior suite which was a good size and gave us the extra room for our little boy. He also got his own TV which he loved. We stayed here as part of a coach tour. The room was spacious and clean but the lighting was very dim. The room numbers were lighted which was very helpful as the corridor was also poorly lit. Breakfast was buffet style but the coffee was tepid every morning. The walk into Lagos was about a mile but an enjoyable one. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Really enjoyed the stay. Pool facilities were top class with plenty of loungers and space along with hot tub, sauna and gym. Restaurant (stayed half-board) was excellent and the menu varied each day. Decor in the room was new and spotless and has all mod cons you would expect. Only problem was there were no tea making facilities in the room. Room also had a nice balcony. Just return from a 7 night stay at the hotel which was great, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the room are large well equipped, all of the hotel was spotlessly clean, the food was varied and of a high quality, getting around was a breeze a beautiful beach just minutes away, the marina a 10min stroll away and the main town 5minutes further on, plus the advantage of a train station to take you further a field what more could you ask for.

We stayed here in Oct 2016. While some may find it a bit expensive, we would have to say that it was worth every euro. Our room was excellent but maybe the decor could be a bit lighter. The room service was also excellent. The room was cleaned each day. You get a great feeling of space and luxury both inside the hotel and around the grounds. The priai grande beach is a 5 min walk out the back pedestrian walkway . Would recommend this hotel for those looking for something a bit plusher than se... Read more
