Lovely room. Excellent staff. A bit of a hike into Lagos and no shuttle bus service so take suitable walking shoes! We booked for B&B and, although early in the season the breakfast buffet was incredibly busy and a bit of a 'bun-fight' on occasion. I used the indoor pool but lack of any staff supervision meant that young children were using the sauna until I complained to the leisure staff. The evening entertainment was poor for a 4* hotel - parrot shows and a reptile show in 2016??

We spend 4 nights in Lagos mid-May. The hotel is not in the city center but on the beach, its location was very convenient to us as my husband had booked windsurf lessons at Windsurf Point surfing school (1mn walk from hotel). The reception and restaurant staff were both extremely nice. Our room was available before noon, which was a good surprise. It was super clean and spacious. Seaview is a must ! We were on the 2nd floor, I guess that 3rd is even better. Outdoor pool is huge and we had no... Read more

The good news is that you can walk to the beach and the pool is fabulous. The bad news is that you can hear every sound that comes from the room next door. I could hear, not only conversation, but the shower, and squeaks from the tub, electricity, etc. There is absolutely no insulation between the rooms. The hotel must have been constructed like office cubicles, only the dividers go all the way to the top. The staff were fairly indifferent at check-in, but they were very accommodating about... Great loaction on the beach and really good staff. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is because of the terrible seagull problem this hotel has in the pool area. There are so many of them and they have left an awful mess that it is uncomfortable to be at the pool. This is such a shame as it's a gorgeous area with 3 big swimming pools. Apparently the gulls are protected so there's not so much the hotel can do about them so this is not their fault just very unlucky for them. The rooms are clean, fo... Read more

Just back from a 9 day stay at Vila Gale Lagos. Nice modern spacious hotel with huge outdoor pool area. Never a problem getting a sun bed and access to beach & walk to marina both good. Loved Lagos itself and had an enjoyable stay at Vila Gale. Only negatives were the breakfast experience which was chaotic due to layout of dining room and positioning of Buffett stations and the seagulls who were regulars in the pool & poolside. Not sure what the hotel can really do about the gulls but not parti... Read more

After spending 7 wonderful days with my wife, 5 and 3 year old at the Vila Gale Lagos I was more than impressed. It was our first 'all-inclusive' experience and it was perfect for my two fussy children. The room was lovely, we had a family room at the back of the hotel overlooking the kids club. It was quiet, well-appointed and very comfortable for us all. The kids club itself made for a nice break each afternoon and a good change of scenery too. The tennis court and football pitch also make ... Read more

We stayed at the Vila Gale for a week in mid May as a party of 9 golfers and overall had a very pleasant time. Location.Hotel is set back about 2-3 mins walk from fantastic long sandy beach.Good 15-20 mins walk to the marina which is awesome and a further 5 mins walk to the atmospheric old town. Rooms are large, clean and spacious although corridors are quite dark.Buffet breakfast is satisfactory but gets very busy and congested at peak times.Planning of food areas could be better. This hotel is about a 15-20 minute walk into the center of Lagos, via a pedestrian bridge over the river. Or a cab ride is about 5 euros each way. My standard room was spacious, and it had a lovely balcony with a view of the pool and ocean. The bed was comfy with plenty of pillows. The room had a safe and mini-fridge. WIFI was free in the room. The bathroom was adequate, although I found that all of the Vila Gale hotels have an odd bathtub configuration which made it very unwieldy - and rat... Read more

Visited here during half term with our two children aged 11 and 3 yrs. we had a fantastic time. The hotel is very clean and staff very helpful, great with the kids. The food was great especially the snack bar for lunch by the pool. Rooms are spacious and cleaned every day. It is the first Hol ever where we have not had to get up early to get a sun bed, there are loads to choose from. The beach across the road and a short walk along a path is just gorgeous and you can walk to the marina from the ... Read more

Location for us was perfect as we like to walk a little and only takes 20 minutes to the Marina. Clean and modern with friendly reception staff. Lovely pool and pool area with exit gate to fantastic long beach. Offering beach bars and fantastic beach walks. Pool area spoilt by so called adult entertainment but music is rap/reggae or disco noise. Clients in the majority are 50 plus with a few families. (Kids already have their own entertainment schedule so no need to steal the adult slot) -... Read more

Great hotel for Portuguese beach holiday. Generous breakfast buffet. Plenty of sun loungers by the outdoor pool. A few minutes walk to the beach. Close to the sights of Lagos but you could equally spend all your time at the hotel. Would visit again!

Clean, efficient, modern hotel. The facilities are very good but for me the selling point was access to a nice, safe beach and a pleasant walk along the same beach in to Lagos town. Use the tiny water taxi (60 centimes each way!) to get you across the river and save walking all the way up and round the Marina. Can't comment on the food as we only had breakfast in the hotel, but the choices and quality of that were very good.

This holiday was booked as a last minute getaway for my partner and I, after endlessly searching we decided on the Vila gale Lagos, mainly swayed by recent trip advisor recommendations , and we was not disappointed. The hotel was very accommodating to our late arrival and the multi lingual receptionist dealt with us efficiently. Upon arriving at our room we found it clean, comfortable and of high standards ,with a balcony overlooking the sea and pool. We were very happy. Any troubles or inquirie... Read more

Vila Gale is a large beachside hotel on the outskirts of Lagos. Rooms are comfortable and clean and the hotel has excellent facilities with a large swimming pool area. The buffet breakfast is extensive. I didn't eat in the hotel in the evening so cannot comment on the evening meal. Access to both the beach and Lagos is easy. Overall a comfortable stay. The hotel lacks the atmosphere of smaller boutique hotels but if you are looking for a good value beach side hotel in Lagos then Vila Gale t... Read more

Just back from a fantastic holiday/golfing trip to Portugal. Stayed for 10 nights at the Vila Gale Hotel - Lagos. Hotel very, very good. had a sea facing room which was excellent. Staff very polite, attentive and helpful. Assistant Manager - Pedro Bello was wonderful as it was my wife's birthday when there and he went out of his way to make her day special. Stayed on a B&B basis. Breakfast very good. No complaints at all regarding this hotel. On a specific golfing holiday playing the fabulous Pa... Read more

Here for a week with teenage kids and we've done this sort of holiday enough to know what we want. Clean, comfortable luxurious enough for our budget - not tight but not limitless - with access to a 'proper' beach (I'm an Aussie - we have standards ;) ), maybe some surf nearby and enough cultural things to do in the general area to make days outside the hotel interesting and easy. This hotel and Lagos ticked these boxes pretty well. No need to go into the stuff we expect at this price point ... Read more

After a day driving through the Algarves visiting many beaches , we concluded that our decision to stay at Vila Gale Lagos was a good one . It's set next to a stunning beach - long sandy expanses , beautiful water and crowded but not unpleasantly so as many we saw . It's a pleasant 15 minute walk into Lagos centre which is a charming old town - touristy but still with character , and a bit further to some magnificent beach coves set among beautiful cliffs . Hotel itself has huge pools , good fac... Read more

The hotel was beautiful with an excellent pool. Our rooms were very comfortable and the showers were nice. The staff as quite helpful and kind during our stay. The beach access was relatively close (3-5 minute walk). The walk to town was pretty and took around 20 minutes. We had a great stay.

Stayed at the Lagos Vile Gale for 12 nights in July, mainly due to the size of the pool(s), the good reviews on various websites and previous experience of Vile Gale hotels...we were not let down. Reception was slick and following previous email comms with the hotel, arrangements for the room were already in place. Room was pretty standard for 2x twin and 1 single bed, but we had a room with pool and sea view as requested. On to the facilities - as I mentioned the pools are massive with plenty o... Read more

The hotel is a larger resort and is located very close to the beautiful beach. The hotel offers all amenities you would expect from a 4 star hotel, including a large pool, sports facilities, spa, restaurant etc. Nice but nothing special. The restaurants can sometimes be a bit crowded. We had a family room which was quite spacious, and we slept very well.
