Just 100m away from the beach "Boca do Inferno", the hotel remains in a very quiet and somewhat idyll place. The staff is polite and helpful even if I did not need them so much besides doing my check in and check out. The suite was big and comfortable, it was clean with all the facilities needed for a pleasant stay. Unfortunately the view was not so good, but it can't be all perfect. I would recomend it to people who wish to enjoy the beach from this area. There are several restaurants around a... Read more

Really impressed with this hotel - rooms were big, breakfast was varied and tasty - you must try the omelettes. The swimming pool was very well presented, although a bit cold, and the bars were staffed by happy waiters and waitresses. All in all, very good value for money and Cascais is a lovely town close to many superb golf courses.

Stayed for a week in May. Good hotel. Have read some negative reviews previously about this place but if you want the ritz then go and pay ritz prices. We had suite 608 on the top floor. Fantastic twin balconies with great sea and marina views. Large bedroom and living areas. Bathroom is dated but perfectly usable. Shower gels and soaps provided. Pool area very peaceful, loads of sun beds always available. Pool towels available from reception no charge. Seemed to be lots of tour parties an... Read more

This is not a great hotel. However, next door to it is one of the most charming private homes, probably 18th C, if I recall correctly. It is now a museum, and a must-see attraction. The hotel seems "tired." I had a large room with a great view. Breakfast was pretty boring. Of course, I'd been in Portugal for 2 weeks at this point, and perhaps I was tired of the same, seemingly standard, breakfasts in all hotels.

Hotel staff pleasant and helpful, room spacious and comfortable. We were allocated a suite comprising a bedroom and separate lounge area, each with TV. The bedrooms spacious and comfortable and the lounge spacious, although the seating was not very comfortable. As we spent little time in the hotel, that wasn't an issue for us. Buffet breakfasts were very good, available from 7 am to 10.30, but on our final day we rolled in at 0630 and most item were already available.

We spent three nights here and found this to be a very nice property. The front of the hotel overlooks the ocean and the back faces a nice park beyond the parking lot that has vocal peacocks. The park is part of an old estate with the residence serving as a free museum. The room was nice and included a mini fridge with a freezer compartment which we used to freeze our cooler ice packs. We stayed at two other Vila Gale properties that had the mini fridge with no freezer. Our package included t... Read more

Full compliments to the staff, they are 5 Star! They were so pleasant, informative, kind and helpful. The hotel rooms are spacious, very clean and very comfortable. Pool area and bar area, again clean, comfortable and relaxing. Excellent breakfast options. Hotel just outside the hub of Cascais, so it is a little quieter but you can simply walk into the centre in 5 mins! We really enjoyed our stay here and again staff were excellent.

Just returned from a one week golfing break with friends. We all loved Cascais, the local golf courses & the hotel location - only a 10 min stroll to some really excellent restaurants, beaches and fantastic views. The hotel, however, was a tad disappointing. A charge of ‚?¨17.50 for a room safe was frankly ridiculous; we had to ask 3 times for tea/coffee making facilities (which were never replenished); there was a severe lack of sun beds/brolleys and towels; the bedrooms were dark & needed bett... The two stars reflect the room location. Our stay was spoilt by having a room on the first floor overlooking the carpark. There was fairly constant traffic just below us, including cars, minibuses and even a coach, with their engines running. It was nasty. We asked to move and were prepared to pay to ungrade but were told unsympathetically by reception that the hotel was full. We were not pleased with his attitude. We stayed at Vila Gale for a week at the beginning of June. Cascais is a great place and the hotel is in a very good location near the sea front, Marina and a lovely park . There are a few members of staff who were very helpful, Sophia and John, but others were clearly trainees and let loose on guest before full training. As others have said the rooms are very dark and the lighting needs to be revamped. The food sometimes was not kept hot enough but there was a good variety. It would be good to ... Read more

We had a good size room on the top floor with a sea and marina view, which was very nice. It's at the top of the hill but next to the promenade so it's easy to get to the marina and into town - doesn't take long to walk. The staff at the Vila Gale Cascais work very hard to ensure you stay is as pleasant as possible. It is a 10-15 minute walk to the center of Cascais, and is in a quiet location. Many of the rooms have balconies, but not all. Some of the rooms have kitchenettes. The breakfast is quite good with a lot of choices. They have an outdoor pool. Another year and another visit. Very happy at this hotel for the location and the walk into town either through the park, the marina or past the Citadel. We only come on a bed and breakfast basis to sample the many bars and restaurants in the town. Loved staying at this hotel. Although the complimentary breakfast was a little more undercooked than I prefer, the special order chef came on at 0900 and cooked food to my specifications. The only concern I had was the hotels directive to not save loungers at the pool was largely unenforced. At one point, my wife and I counted 12 people at the pool, but all but a couple of the loungers had towels on them. It's a good rule, but needs to be enforced. All in all, though, a wonderful stay.

We were a victim of the recent low cost holiday collapse and did not find out till we arrived in reception. Sophia was fantastic and very kind as we were obviously upset. Although we had to pay again, she booked us another room and saved our holiday. The room was clean and the daily maid service very good. Buffet style breakfast and evening meal was good with plenty of choice. pool area was clean and plenty of sun beds available

People at reception for check-in and check-out were very friendly and helpful. In one of the reviews I had read that breakfast missed some fresh food, but this has then now been changed. The breakfast choice was big enough. Also very important, the hotel has very good large beds The hotel is about a 15min nice walk to the center of Cascais The corridors and the rooms are quite dark, though. We missed some spots in the ceiling and light colouring. This could be done more light when redecoration i... Read more

We went last week of August '16- beginning of Sept, my husband, our 2 year old and I. The room was very spacious and clean, I was happy to see they gave my son a proper wooden cot and not a travel one. We paid a bit more for a sea/pool view, it is not an Hawaiian view but I think still better than the other views. We went for half board (breakfast and lunch or dinner). Breakfast and dinners are buffet style whether the lunches are held at the pool bar and you have a selection of sandwiches, sal... Read more

Enjoyed a week long stay here. Room was comfortable and sea view was superb. Breakfast was nice and evening buffet was ok. Pool was great, clean and tidy every day. Staff friendly and accommodating in all areas. Slight discrepancy with the bill but dealt with in a very professional manner. Look forward to visiting again.

Stayed here for 10 days in September. Requested a room on a high floor with a kitchenette and was allocated this on arrival. Found reception staff to always be helpful and friendly. Very pleased with our room on the 5th floor. Good size, wonderful view overlooking pool and sea and very comfortable beds. Requested a kettle and this was brought up immediately. Cleaning wasn't too bad, occasionally a towel or shower gel refill was forgotten. However, our balcony was not swept at all over o... Read more

We stayed here on a Collette Portugal tour. The hotel was adequate, but could use an upgrade. All the hotel staff we encountered were unfriendly (boarding on rude) and always seemed put out when asked a question. Particularly when asked why they have a daily charge to use in the in-room safe. In all my travels around the world, I‚??ve never been charged to use the in-room safe (this was a first!). Elevators were very small, but our room was large with a balcony, although the furniture was wel... Read more

The hotel has a great location. Our room on the sixth floor was good. Definitely worth paying for a sea view. All members of the staff were polite, cheerful and helpful. The one thing that spoilt our holiday was the food! We were on half board basis. The breakfast buffet was mediocre with the choice of cold meats limited. The bacon and eggs were only lukewarm! The same thing happened for the evening meal. The hot food was not hot, even the barbecue evening produce lukewarm food! There... Read more
