The food at torre velha was terrible the so called breakfast had just 3 cereals to choose From thin proces cheese and ham no fresh orange juice and coffee no freshly made coffee. But coffee from a machine and the evening meals was very bad I could not eat them all We paid for half board , we only had the meals three nights out of nine nights. The first night I was offered lamb chops or fish and the lamb chops had been coocked And re-heated they was vulgar the next night I was offered fish agai... Read more

Had a great time at this Basic but very clean Hotel, Staff Friendly and helpful, Breakfast not the best, evening meals adequate but quite location made up for that, a few good restaurants near by, Three Beaches a stroll away, Bus stop at the top of the Road to Albufeira and the Marina. If your after a Quite Relaxing Hotel then this is up there for you.

The location was perfect for us, quiet on the edge of the countryside a short stroll to some of the best beaches I've seen. Torre Velha was just up our street, clean rooms with efficient cleaning staff. All of the staff were very helpful and cheery, Marta, Sylvia, Maria and Bruno and reception lady. Nothing was too much trouble, meals were lovely and reasonable bar was good value. Breakfast was continental but that suited us. Pool area was intimate where you could feel at home. The location is excellent for a quiet holiday. Near to beaches and restaurants but not a lively location. Need a car if you want to see more and do more. Rooms are basis but acceptable certainly for the price you pay. Breakfast is a very basic DIY affair but the evening meals are quite good. If on half board the choice is limited to a given starter like soup or garlic bread. the main course is from a choice of two usually a fish [swordfish, tuna ,salmon] and a meat or pasta. There is a choice of... Read more

It's my first time visiting Torre Velha and Albufeira.... it's amazing... The staff at Torre Velha are very friendly and helpful. It's comfortable you can book your excursions at the have a tour bus stop where you can be collected to go in Albufeira (town)...Not far from the beaches there are many restaurants too.

Just returned from a disappointing visit to this hotel. We arrived at 2am with our 8 year old grandson and were allocated a "family" room over the lounge/bar area overlooking the road. This consisted of a twin room with a single bed squashed into the patio door area. Having been to this hotel on previous occasions, knowing that there are indeed family rooms located on the other side of the hotel I requested a change of room. I was told that following last year when they had 8 children staying at... Read more

Just returned from a nine night visit to the Algarve (first time visit to Portugal) staying at this Hotel, arrived at 11pm and welcomed the room was spacious and clean with a large balcony and the room comes with an overhead fan, a fridge and a kettle (if requested). and a safety deposit box which can be rented. Staying as room only I couldn't comment on the breakfasts others have mentioned but the coffee and food I ordered from the bar/restaurant was fine .All the staff were friendly and helpf... Read more

Close to two lovely beaches and roughly a 20 minute walk from another called 'Galé'. I stayed here with my boyfriend for a week and the staff were very welcoming especially the receptionist called Bella. She was the most helpful, was very nice to talk to and always greeted us with a smile. She gave us the best recommendations too. The food is nice, however there are a few restaurants close by for a larger variety of dishes. If you are looking for a peaceful holiday then this is the place to rel... Read more

We stayed here for 10 nights. We only left this morning and all I can say is that the staff are brilliant. Very good at there job. The place is spotlessly clean. The bar is big and spacious and cheap, the restaurant is the same, menu small but cheap and food is lovely. The pool area is big enough and for those that find it too hot there are shaded areas. The rooms are basic but have all you need in them, the only negative I have about the rooms are the beds are a bit hard but everyone has there ... Read more

Now don't misunderstand me, this place is amazing with beaches everywhere, quiet, totally beautiful with opportunity to explore, eat out, party, stroll with your loved one and of course the amazing views, caves and unspoilt surroundings...BUT.....and a huge BUT... lovely , small, very clean and friendly hotel. In a quiet area away from the bussel of Albufeira. ideal for a solo female, felt very safe and welcome and made some nice friends. We shared a taxi into Albuferia in the evening which is well worth a visit day and evening but it was lovely to get back to the peace this hotel offers. very hot weather in june but made bearable by a warm wing that comes off the atlantic ocean. Stayed for a week from 9th-16th. Hotel was fine and clean although basic. If you want 5 star this isnt for you and if you want a lively area again not for you but if you want a quiet relaxing break this will suit you. Old town can be reached by a taxi for between 8-10?. Stayed here for 5 days in July. The hotel is ideally located for the beach and several lovely restaurants. The staff are really helpful and gave advice on the best places to eat and arranged transport for us to go to Armacao de Pera (nearby beach resort). On the downside the rooms don't have aircon so it was very hot at night.

Stayed for a week 14th-21st July in room 107 a sea view double. Paid extra ?60.00 for sea views and in hindsight maybe not really worth the ?60.00? Room clean and tidy can't complain about rooms being dated as this is one of the oldest hotels in the Albufeira area. The room has a small fridge and free standing fan and a ceiling fan and boy do you need them! The rooms get very warm not a complaint it's July and exactly why we go because it's nice and warm. The hotel is basic, but decent for its price. The location near the Castelo beach is great. The staff are friendly and helpful, nice bar and pool area. Rooms are clean and a small fridge comes really handy in summer, but no air conditioning and the ceiling fan was really noisy, so we had to sleep without it, which means it was quite hot... The matresses could be better too and the Wifi only works in the bar/reception area.

This hotel was recommended to us by someone who has stayed here before. I have to say that if you want a quite place to stay then this is it. The staff here are friendly and efficient. Nothing is too much bother to them. The food in the restaurant is very good. The only negative is the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. Would definitely recommend to everyone. Nice hotel, very basic but does the job for a place to rest your head. The lack of air con in July when we went was tough and the ceiling fan did little to help. Staff all friendly and the beach, which is only a five minute walk away, is perfect for relaxing. As a young family we did find the lack of restaurants in the nearby area a challenge but as others have mentioned the old town is just a 10 euro cab journey away.

This is a review of the restaurant etc - we didn't stay at the hotel. Firstly, do not be put off by the basic look of the Torre Velha (sports bar!) because it's a real gem of a find. On the other hand they do show sports on a big screen and have a ridiculously massive whisky collection if that's what you fancy! The staff are all lovely, friendly, hard working and very helpful. I ended up booking a room at this hotel as most hotels in the region were already fully booked and this one seemed OK. The location is quite nice if you have a car as it is not in Albufeira itslef (tourist trap) and close to nice beaches. The hotel has a rather old feeling, kind of outdated. Rooms are spacious with a balcony, old fashioned TV and a fan (no aircon). Very basic but clean. Wifi is only available at reception and bar.
