Great room, great hotel staff, good breakfast, beautifully restored building, close to the plazas, and all for a reasonable price. They do turn their hot water off in the afternoon, apparently, but will gladly turn it back on if requested. Loud booming noises at night from the parties at the nearby plazas but that would be an issue anywhere in the neighborhood.

We stayed two nights at this hotel and was happy overall with the experience. The room was divided in 2 floors: the first one had a sort of small living room with a couch, a small fridge and a hot beverage station. Additionally, the bathroom is on the 1st floor as well and had a bathtub, amenities, a hair dryer, slippers and bath robe. The bed is on the 2nd floor and it was huge! king size bed, flat screen TV with cable and there's a small window with view to the city. Buffet breakfast is incl... Read more

The rooms are well equipped, clean, tidy and the staff are very helpful and attentive. There is a very short walk to the town square. I left early in the morning for a tour so the staff pre made breakfast for me to take with me. I highly recommend this hotel and I look forward to returning.

Everything about Tambo is fabulous! I loved the decor, it's very welcoming and I love the courtyard. I highly recommend this hotel. It's very well located near to say Francisco plaza and plaza Amas - very easy to walk to everything but still quiet. Had no problems with noise. The staff were excellent - could not have been more helpful. Food at breakfast was excellent and delicious Dinners. This is a small treasure in Cusco. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

My friends and I stayed at Tambo del Arriero during our stay in Cusco. The reception desk and airport transport driver were all really friendly. We needed breakfast at 4am before our hike to Machu Picchu, even though their restaurant starts at 6am, they were willing to prepare our breakfast in advance. Their breakfast buffet was the nicest we had during our entire stay in Peru. (Including the hotels in Lima) However, there are some things to beware. The room we had before the hike was huge a... Tambo del Arriero is a luxurious hidden gem located in the alleyway of Cusco, Peru. At first, this hotel may seem secluded, hidden within an environment that exudes an atmosphere of local living more than the bustling of tourism that can be perceived a few blocks away from the city center, the "Plaza de Armas". However, despite the location, all major attractions are still reachable by foot - in which walking eastward will take you to the Plaza de Armas and walking southward will lead ... Read more

It's a gorgeous hotel, I mean, truly beautiful. We didn't interact much with the staff, but when we did they were quite helpful. The great: We checked in at 9, they said the restaurant closed at 9:30, and when we got up there 10 minutes later, it was clear the cooks were wrapping everything up for the night. They didn't even hesitate, sat us, prepared the food, and it was honestly one of the best meals I had in Peru. For two of us, it cost 30 soles. some not-so-greats: There is no safe in th... Read more

Our group of 5 enjoyed 4 nights at this characterful and authentic Hotel which is within a 5-10 minute walk to the main square. The rooms are spacious with good bathrooms and everything was spotlessly clean. The beds are comfortable with good linen and luxurious duvets and pillows. Breakfasts were delicious with a good fruit selection and freshly cooked eggs to order. Staff were very friendly and helpful. A couple of flaws. We were upgraded to a beautiful and very large room with 3 queen sized... Read more

The hotel is located a bit further away from Plaza de Armas, in a noisy street. My bedroom was fine and quiet and overlooking the interior courtyard. Breakfast was okay. Overall experience is okay but i've experienced better places to stay in town.

My family and I stayed here before our Inca Trail hike/trek. We loved this boutique hotel. The service was great ‚?? they provided free transportation from the airport. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious with updated bathroom/shower fixtures. The location is quite convenient ‚?? just about a 5 minute walk from the center of town where all the restaurants and shops are (this is important ‚?? being able to just walk around vs. getting a taxi is a big difference). The hotel is located on ... Read more

We stayed here two days before our Inca Trek and one night after. The open air concept of the hotel is very unique - you almost feel that you are in a small village inside of Cusco. The beds were extremely comfortable and most importantly the shower stayed hot forever! We were able to store our luggage while we were away for our trek and the staff was very friendly and accommodating when we had to wake up very early in the morning to catch a flight back to Lima. They arranged for a taxi and made... Read more

I stayed here in May twice and I found it extremely noisy. We had a room towards the courtyard and guests leaving early in the morning made a lot of noise. So did the staff by talking loudly amogst each other and the porter was not much helpful either! The lobby is adjacent to the courtyard and you could hear the drawers of the desk being slammed shut. The second time we stayed towards the back of the property and there was the noise of the workers putting a new addition to the hotel. We had the... Read more

I ARRIVED after 40 hours door-to-door travel and the hotel is just like the picture book I chose from: quaint and Peruvian! It's freezing at night but warm during the day and the locals are fascinating ... The hotel room is clean and tidy with modern amenities. The staff are friendly and approachable.

I stayed 4 nights here with 2 of my oldest longtime friends. What looks like a simple set of doors off a coblestone street opens up into the most quaint and picturesque Spanish style hotel. The pricing was extremely reasonable, the room was large, modern, and white glove clean. Coca tea service daily, included breakfast with room charge, extremely friendly and helpful staff. Kitchen staff especially warm hosts. Breakfast food excellent, and large variety. Did not sample dinners, we spent t... Read more

We actually booked this place on Hotels.com. We were pleasantly surprised with the small, yet very clean and comfortable amenities. In fact, we were a bit spontaneous, so we booked this spot before leaving Lima heading into Cusco. The street was being repaired so this was a bit inconvenient, but other than that, everything was a solid 10! The hotel is small and cozy yet has the BEST complimentary breakfast of the 4 hotels that we stayed at in Peru. The continental breakfast was FRESH and ba... Read more

The tub is half a meter high, you must have a good physical condition to enter and exit. We needed 20 minutes to have hot water in the shower. Concierge response to this claim was: "Open the tap 20 minutes before ...!? ?!" The pillows were hard as stone and could offer us no alternative. There was a refrigerator ... but "empty ...!" The bread at breakfast was just only one common, no croissants or something similar. The entrance to the hotel was inaccessible, the street was completely destroyed... Read more

Lovely simple and charming courtyard hotel on a quiet street a few blocks up the hill from the Plaza de Armas. Rooms are spacious and well-heated, beds are enormous and bathrooms are generous with bathtub, high pressure shower, heated towel rack etc. As a courtyard style building, the room was lit by skylights rather than windows, but there was plenty of natural light. Breakfast was fantastic - great range of delicious fruits and local peruvian grains as well as the standard offerings of eggs... Read more

The hotel was very cute and the room was big. There was no TV in the room. The staff was very friendly. One negative was that the street in front of the hotel was under cunstruction and was not accessible by car and the red dirt got the shoes very dirty. We were in the first floor and one morning woke up with people walking on second floor.

We had a great stay at this hotel, after doing the 4 day salkantay trek to Machu Picchu. The hotel was peaceful and the rooms were very clean. All of the staff were friendly and helpful, and even assisted us with getting a late check out time to accommodate our late departure from Cusco. All in all I would definitely recommend a stay at this hotel. Really good value for money.

The hotel was beautiful and very clean. The staff were very accommodating, and spoke English well. The group I was with were preparing for the Salkantay trek, and we had to leave very early, before the breakfast was open. The staff had prepared a bagged breakfast for us to take in the morning, and coffee for the road. When we returned, the actual breakfast they had was delicious.

We ended up staying 5 nights in the hotel as the room was so spacious and comfortable. We had twin beds which were double beds. This was very appreciated after long days out on treks and excursions. There was hardly any Noise even though we were on the ground floor.

We picked this hotels as it had goods reviews on trip advisor. The only reason l did not give it 5 stars was that it was a bit future out of Cusco than l thought. But still it was only a 10 min walk back into the main square. We booked the junior suite at a special rate of US$110 which was a much better room than the standard rooms. It was a large comfortable room with a upstairs living area and overlooking a court yard area. Breakfast was nice enough, well worth the stay if you take the junior S... Read more
