Gorgeous courtyard hotel at the top of an impossibly narrow & steep cobblestone road that feels like a restored bit of ruins cut straight from the jungle. Delicious restaurant in house along with a beautiful bar with a fireplace. The courtyard has fountains and gas fire pits/heaters and is lovely to hang out in at night with an Andean mint tea or a cocktail. Breakfast is hot and served early so you can eat before you go adventuring. The rooms are smallish (at least ours was) but we had a 2 story... Read more

We didn't stay here the first day we arrived to Cusco, as we wanted to stay near the plaza, but after we came back from Machu Pichu, we stayed 2 nights here. The place is not in the plaza and you have to go up the hill a little bit but it is so worthy, and after a few days, you appreciate not being in the center of everything. The place is sooo lovely, with a nice and warm lobby, with comfortable couches and a fireplace just next to the bar (perfect spot). The rooms were big enough with everythi... Read more

The location was great, the service was excellent. A great place for a great view of Cusco and a wonderful Peruvian-style breakfast made to order by David and company. Need something? Laundry, computer, extra towels, water, taxi?...you got it. Always with a smile.Want to learn how to make a Pisco Sour? The hotel bar is the place. Hungry for Peruvian food with a French flair? Try the hotel restaurant. If and when we go back to Cusco, this hotel will be home.

Only a few blocks from both the Plaza de Armas and San Blas, the location of this hotel was perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and it was great having breakfast served each morning in the scenic cafeteria area. Small things like the tv not working great and the room service options being light on vegetarian dishes keep this from being a 5 star review, but it's a solid 4.5. The beautiful courtyard areas, the quiet location and the friendly service made this an excellent hotel for ... Read more

We stayed here 2 times during our trip. We were greeted with coco tea when we arrived and they checked our luggage while we went exploring while we waited for the 1PM check-in. Down the hill is Plaza de Armas, shopping, restaurants and San Pedro Market within 5 to 15 minutes walk. The first stay we had a cool room overlooking rooftops and a mountain view. The restaurant was very good. The bar had very friendly service and will make fresh juice upon request. Breakfast was included and they ... Read more

This hotel is converted from a 400 years old building. It is situated in a hilly street of cobble stone. We were amazed when we first arrived and walked into the courtyard. We were helped by the staff with our luggage. The room at the ground level was spacious; the rooms in the second floor is a loft where beds are upstairs. The beds are very comfortable. there is a small garden wirh plenty of flowers. The breakfast room is airy and a good view of the neighborhood and mountains.

The Hotel Arqueologo was a great experience from the moment we checked in. All staff is very friendly and accommodating. It was wonderful to have a hot/reliable shower, clean amenities, free wifi and warm breakfast options. We had spent our previous days in an Airbnb where the accommodations were lacking, so Hotel Arqueologo was a welcomed change. The location is very close to the main square. Many of the local attractions were walkable from the hotel. We even stored our luggage with them overni... Read more

One of the best experiences I have had in a hotel. I arrived at 6am, check-in is @ 1pm & I was so sick from long flight. They put me in a vacant room to rest, called when my suite was ready at 8am and told me to stay as long as needed; came and got my luggage and took me to my room when I was ready! The most friendly staff ever had in a hotel, beds and pillows sooo comfy and restaurant had fabulous atmosphere as well as food. This is probably the best hotel we stayed in during our trip to Peru. It is so beautiful and quiet inside. The rooms are set around a central patio, with exquisite decoration, a fountain, and benches to sit down and relax. Located just a few minutes away from the Plaza de Armas, it is a great combination of practicality and comfort. If I return to Cusco I will without a doubt stay at Hotel Arque├│logo again.

I stayed at this property in July 2015 and never got around to writing a review. Myself, husband and son really enjoyed this peaceful and quaint hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I wanted to thank them for all their help when my son had a lot of problems due to altitude sickness in the middle of the night. Thank you for helping us and making us feel at ease. I highly recommend this quaint and lovely hotel.

Personal touches throughout this hotel - from the bar, courtyard to the stone carved puma bathroom sinks. Helpful staff and tasty breakfast, in a room with an amazing view over Cusco. Central and safe location! Only issue (not really in their control) was the stray dogs barking at night up the hills. Earplugs were helpful. A different room may have been better. It seems like most hotels have a good courtyard in Cusco, and this place is no different. There's a full restaurant and a bar in site. We got 302 on the first floor, and it was very warm and strangely humid inside (considering how dry Cusco is). Thin clothes took over 2 nights to dry. The staff here was very friendly and helpful with booking tours and cabs. The free breakfast here was great, something I looked forward to every morning before I started my busy days. Hotel Arqueologo was our home base for a month long vacation in the Cusco area. My husband and I stayed in four different rooms here during a cumulative stay of about 15 days: two different suites; design room; and classic room. If you crave a cookie cutter rectangular box hotel stay, look elsewhere. Each room at Arqueologo has its own character and fun quirks. The design room had remote control "mood lighting" --- corny but fun. My advice is to splurge for a suite. A little more money, ... Read more

We stayed her on 2 separate weekends in a total of 3 rooms. The staff was excellent and helped us arrange rides and tours. Our first room was right under the breakfast area so if you are an early riser, this is not a problem but otherwise, it's a bit noisy. Our next room (we needed a bigger room after our daughter joined us) had fairly thin walls but our last room was great. The buffet breakfast in the morning was really good also. I would definitely stay there again.

Honestly, this is the best affordable place to stay in Cusco. I loved this hotel for his location (a few minutes away from Praza de Armas, on a quiet street), his romantic bedrooms (all different in style, so if you 'd like a baldaquin bed, just ask for one; the little balcony, the garden view), the little courtyard and the nice simple breakfast. I really wanted to like this hotel. Their location is perfect, the hotel and the split level room with a loft bedroom are tastefully appointed and full of rustic charm. When I asked the front desk staff why it isn't working, I was told it's because I have an iPhone 6, so better luck next time. There are 2 things that make Hotel Arqueologo stand out: the service and the decor. The staff went out of their way to make our stay a great one, from helping us find a good restaurant to mixing us some very fine Pisco Sours. And if you value ambience, this hotel is a cut above. Their mix of modern and colonial is interesting and beautiful. Clearly a lot of attention was paid on the details.
