My husband and I stayed here for two nights before joining our Backroads Adventure Hiking Trip to Machu Picchu. This boutique hotel is such a delightful place within walking distance of the main square and many attractions in old Cusco. Upon arrival, they bring you hot coco tea (to help you become acclimated to the elevation) juice and some treats. The rooms are spacious as are the bathrooms. Comfortable king beds, rain showers and soak tubs, plus each room has a charming balcony. The courtyard ... Read more

We have no hesitation in scoring a 5 for this wonderful hotel - excellent staff (particularly in the spa and restaurant which, having had Pablo Neruda and Che Guevara as visitors in the past is interesting in itself). We had a fabulous room with a balcony overlooking the beautifully maintained courtyard which gave a feeling of peace and tranquillity only a short walk from Cusco's busy tourist attractions. From talking to others who had visited Cusco at the same time, this hotel would undoubtedy ... Read more

The staff was always ready to serve your every need. Our room was very large with a balcony overlooking the main patio, and the bathroom was outstanding. Had a wonderful massage after climbing Huayna Picchu the day prior. We mainly ate in the hotel restaurant as the food was excellent. Let's not forget the Pisco Sour classes.....OUTSTANDING!

Beautiful hotel with extraordinary service. When we checked in we had people waiting to meet us. While we took over the bar area with a very pleasant bar tender, the front desk patiently waited for us to actually check in, meanwhile, our luggage was brought to our room. When we wnt to our room there was something that needed to be fixed (no big deal) and we were immediatly taken to a new room. The rooms by the way are spacious, clean and well appointed. We moved to Casa Cartagena from another Cusco hotel for one day/night of luxury before leaving Cusco and were blown away by the overall experience. It is very centrally located to the main plaza and shopping area with some great restaurants around. We arrived at the hotel around 9.30am and they immediately welcomed us, showed us all the facilities within the hotel and then offered us breakfast while they prepared the room...service was very impressive. It's very close to the main square and great restaurants, but quiet. This hotel is absolutely amazing. The staff is beyond helpful and pamper you beyond belief. The woman (I cannot remember her name) at the bar and restaurant was beyond belief with being helpful. The food is amazing and well worth a dinner at the hotel. The spa is good but I would not recommend a massage as they are just average (only bad comment). Casa Cartagena is a dream. As soon as you check in, you'll be ushered to a waiting room where you'll be served coca tea and juice until your room is ready. Never mind the wait, the juice is a refreshing respite from your likely long flights and the beautiful property is a sight to behold while unwinding. If you're by the big bowl of candy, you'll get addicted to the lemon candy in there (the grape candy just doesn't compare). If you can, try and get a ground floor room. The spanish style door...
