Great hotel, but.... We made reservations through the all inclusive rate and were VERY disappointed in the limited food selection on the menu. Breakfast was good, but lunch and dinner menus were poor, and that's being generous. This would be a 5 star stay if the food had been better.

Lovely property. Its a bit off the beaten path and not on the ocean as some photos would lead you to believe....but its a beautiful place. A open air concept-several restaurants on site. Rooms are beautifully designed. Large bathrooms with huge soaking/garden tubs. We had a nice garden view. Top notch service. Look for specials, you're likely to get an unbelievable price if you can be a bit flexible in your stay.

Gut wrenching to write this given the amazing experience we had last time (and left a great review) but visited this place last month on a trip to Panama and found it to be much worse than when we had visited beforehand. We stayed for four days and the place was far from full with few guests around. The place is still a beautiful setting ... but ...: - Pool area (main pool not El Faro) was dirty, hadn't been cleaned and there was lot of dirt in the pool (all through the days we were there). We drove to every beach town with a resort along the cocle province. We stopped at various resorts hoping to find what we were looking for and the Jw was it. There are many resorts in Panama, but what you will find is that there standards are very low. They will charge American prices, but not provide cleanliness and good service. The JW was just the opposite, everything was top notch and the service was the best. My husband left a moderately expensive watch in the room after check out; we calle... Read more

Location is great and the facilities to. Nice pool and the golf is superb. We had breakfast and dinner twice there. The food is great and sushi as well. The only thing to be improved is the service. The restaurant staff are friendly but the service is not to the level expected. Service is very slow and most of the time you need to ask twice before you get something. They just forget the orders.

We stayed for a weekend with my son who was turning 13. The stay at the resort was part of his gift. What an amazing place. The scenery is absolutely beautiful. The staff was very friendly and the service at the pool cabanas and the beach was spectacular. The room was very comfortable, and the room service was quick and good. Highly recommended for travelers and locals just looking to get away for a few days. Panama beach community at t its best.

This JW Marriott lives up to everything you'd expect- the rooms and Villas are lovely, the food is outstanding and they are increible at making special diet requests available and delicious, not to mention the cocktails. The resort is huge but also manages to feel intimate, you can choose to walk, take the shuttle or bike around, pets are also welcome! Driving from Panama City is about 2.0 hours depending on traffic but absolutely worth it!

This JW is so special - mostly because of the amazing people that work there. Daniel, the incredible concierge, is truly an advocate for the brand and the Panamanian lifestyle. The food on property is incredible - especially the poolside cafe for a quick bite with really fresh flavors. Oh - and the pools - gorgeous! The grounds are absolutely breathtaking and so well kept and the rooms are spacious and super luxe. We went to celebrate our anniversary and Marilyn made the whole trip so special wi... Read more

If you want a 4 star resort, with great rooms, amazing pools, & very good cust service, then stay here. Gorgeous hotel (very popular with golfers) but really nothing to do outside of the resort. You feel confined to just the JW Marriott, no restaurants or bars close by, so be aware if you're coming, you should definitely bring a car and not plan to explore the immediate region. Beautiful rooms and located right on the beach. The resort was pretty much a ghost town after 7pm, but we loved our room. They need to incorporate more activities on the resort since you don't have access to do much in Rio Hato. I would definitely return.

My husband is a Platinum Elite member, so, we often use our points for stays at JW Marriott or Ritz-Carlton resort locations. After having spent a few days in Casco Viejo, we were looking forward to a relaxing beachside retreat. The JW Marriott Panama is located in a luxury, gated, beach community (including many private homes) called Buenaventura, on the Pacific side of Panama. It is about 100 miles (160 km) from Tocumen International Airport (PTY) or 75 miles from Panama City/Casco Viejo. Th... Read more

Staying here was nice and peaceful. It was the perfect 4-day retreat from the hectic every day. The JW Marriott in Rio Hato does take a couple of hours to reach from the airport in Panama City, but getting away from it all is really worth the drive. The one thing I like the most of this resort is how quiet it is, there were not too many people there. I think it may be because this is not an all inclusive resort, but I like quietness so just for the peace of mind and the feel of having the resort to just a few of us, that's just enough reason to go back. with the exception of all the renovations they were having the place is great.
