Slept one night before a business meeting. Friendly staff, free wifi, and a newspaper of choice to members. I got a new room with universal access bathroom. No problems with noise, a good single bed. The breakfast was better than expected: more salad, fish and fruit than expected, and buns or croissants for the sweet tooth. Probably around what you can expect for the price.

Clean, quiet, comfortable room. Has an iron. Breakfast was fantastic - can't wait to go back. All staff were very friendly. Love the Solsiden location. Many bars, restaurants, and shopping right nearby. There's a coach bus that goes to it from the airport (bus on the left hand side when exiting). 100m up the road and costs about 140NOK. Hope to stay here next time I'm in Trondheim.

Very nice hotel, good service and very good breakfast. The room was clean and the service at the front desk was very good. The location is excellent and close to a variety of restaurants. I did not like the bed.

We have stayed at this hotel several times. The Hotel has excellent location and offers good sleep quality. The breakfast is also usually good. This time we had a rather average experience. The room we got was not properly cleaned as we checked in. (1/2 a bottle of juice and a plastic bag was left on the desk). We got a new room and in this room someone had left a hat in the wardrobe. Apart from that the room was OK. The breakfast is mostly OK. There are however two areas worth improving. The... Read more

The Solsiden Scandic has become a favourite stay when in Trondheim. located in a neighbourhood that is attached to the Nidelven River, with great access to multiple good quality restaurants, and near the centre of the city for scenic walks, we enjoy staying here when in town if we can. it is the lowest price Scandic in the downtown area, often with rooms under $150/night, and easily reached by shuttle bus (140NOK one way) from the airport. Staff are genuine and friendly, there is a local gym ... Read more

Clean and nice stuff, the location of the hotel is wonderful. Food served during breakfast is nice and delicious. Very quite room to sleep. Fresh water available always. Many shops and restaurants around the area.

This hotel is nicely situated close to the river, and to the harbour. Next-door neighbour is a shopping centre, and there are a number of shops, cafes and restaurants close by. I was on a business trip, and it was no problem arranging a late check in- The room was small, but well lit, and I was given a double room despite travelling on my own. On the down side: there is no coffee/tea maker in the room and the two glasses provided on the night stand was dusty. No safe, and the mini-bar is em... Read more

As often, Scandic hotel is synonym of quality. The Scandic Hotel Solsiden is located close to the center of Trondheim, maybe at 10 minutes from the old bridge. The hotel is very modern and comfortable. The room was nice, well-equipped and clean. It was very calm during the night. The breakfast buffet was excellent, proposing a large choice of cheese, meat, fish, jam, croissant... The staff was efficient and welcoming. There is parking at the hotel.

Room could have been bigger, the double bed was actually two single beds moved close together but with a gap between them. No air condition, not a problem these days but we also have been in Trondheim at 30 deg C. On the clearly positive side is the amazingly good breakfast, surely one of the best we ever had in any hotel. Fresh, delicious, plenty of choices.

Below average hotel for the price. Good location right behind Solsiden. We stayed in a very busy mid week period and paid a premium for it. The room lacked simple amenities (tea and coffee making), the 'personal fridge' was dirty and there was no way to alter the temperature in the room. Breakfast was average, not what I was expecting from the leaflet in the room which boasted the breakfast had ca.100 items, (this must include the sugar cubes). the breakfast room was also very overcrowded. We arrived in Trondheim unexpectedly and wanted to stay in a hotel that wasn't typical American style. We were recommended to Scandic Solsiden and it was an excellent recommendation. Very stylish Scandinavian decor with everything very well thought out. The reception was friendly and fast, our rooms were clean and well appointed and breakfast, served in the large atrium, was very good. Thoroughly recommend this place, especially as it is very central.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights while visiting Trondheim. The hotel is above average and inexpensive. Breakfast is included and food was good. Room is quite small but clean. It is in prime location and walking distance to city centre.

Getting to this hotel vas very easy as there was both a train station and bus stop near by. Check-in was easy and quick and the service was good. The room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was also nice, the only minus was that the shower had low pressure so there wasn't much water coming out of it. Apart from that the hotel was excellent and I'll stay there again.

Checkin was fast and efficient. Had requested a quiet room and got a corner room. Not so quiet as this hotel is surrended by busy streets. Room was spacious and in good condition. Free WIFI worked well. Wanted to have something to eat but hotel does not have a restaurant. Only a hotel bar with a few choices. However, they told me that they were out of burgers. At 8 PM and being out of burgers ? How is that possible ? Wanted to use the fitness room but was told I needed to go 250m to a differe... Read more

The best was they dont have carpets on the room floors, but fresh and clean wooden floors :) The hotel isn't "magic" but there is not a thing to criticize! Breakfast was very good even though the assortment may be even better on other Scandic hotels. Service minded staff! Basic rooms with good beds.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the breakfast is divine. I was very impressed that you have separate recycling bins in the bedrooms too. You can borrow bicycles at reception for free too. We stayed here during our honeymoon and although it's mainly a business hotel, we loved it! We would definitely return. Trondheim is such a great city too.

We really liked the Solsiden area of Trondheim with its laid back vibe and multitude of waterside dining and drinking options, not to mention it‚??s only around a ten minute walk into the centre of town. While parking in Trondheim is generally quite expensive we found the Portalen Parkinghouse, just a few minutes walk form the hotel, to offer the best value with charges capped at NOK 165 for 24 hours. ¬† Our compact room was fairly typical Scandic quality, using good design to get the most out... I had a pleasant stay. The staff was very kind and helpful! Very good breakfast. Good location in a new part of the city. Big, quite and clean room. The parking is shared with the shopping centre and it is expensive.

Convenient modern hotel close to all facilities around the Solsiden complex.50 metres from the Værnes Express airport coach stop. Decent size rooms. Rooms can get a bit warm during the Summer months. Excellent choice of breakfast dishes.

We spent a weekend here for a wedding with our 5 months old son. The people in the reception were very nice and helpful and could assist us with all our needs. Baby crib was in the room when we arrived which was spacious and nice. Only thing that could be improved was that the bacon should have been served in its own tray with "eat as much as you want policy" instead of one small piece of bacon on top of an fried egg..

We booked Scandic Solsiden this time for also have tried the smallest of the Scandic hotels in center of Trondheim. Since it was a celebrating weekend we ask the Hotel for some extra service and all was done perfect. And with a smaler hotell all is more friendly and we enjoyed our stay here at "solsiden" and will definitely come back and stay here at our next visit as well.

We really enjoyed our visit to this bustling, busy wee town. The hotel, the Solsiden, was perfect for our requirements in that it was in a very handy location, was well priced for such an expensive country, and provided an eat all you can breakfast (which we did!). The hotel is clean and modern with all you need really. It would have been nice to have had a kettle in the room to make a quick cuppa but we decided this is maybe something which isn't done in Norway? The staff were very keen to help... Read more

OK hotel with all the basics you need. A comfortable bed and a good shower, clean and tidy. Good and plentyful breakfast. Only thing I did not like was that the window of my room was facing the atrium, so no fresh air available!

The welcoming could be better but the rest of the stay was surprisingly good. Room was warm and the cleanest I have slept in for a long time. Location is central without being in the busy city center. Very near the new rebuild are with a lot of restaurants. The hotel breakfast is huge and fresh. Easy to find and two parking houses nearby. I definitely recommend this hotel.
