The rooms are not very big, but looks newly refurbished. Clean and with very comfortable beds. Frendly staff, and a very nice breakfast. No minibar, but the hotel have a machine in reception were you can buy different articles. Very good free WIFI.

Stayed for one night and had a good stay Location - very convenient. ~5 min walk down to Karl Johans gate with shops/restaurants and tourist sights. Room - stayed in a standard double room. Decent size, but not large. Clean and updated. Bathroom was small, but laid out efficiently for maximum use of space. Free wifi. We had a car - can park on street for free from 8 PM to 8 AM I believe, but street parking during the day is quite expensive! Otherwise can pay ~$30 (can't remember exac... Read more

This is a great budget style hotel. It is easy to access once you work out that trams 17 & 18 from the central train station take you within 100 metres. You just have to get off at the tram stop for hotel Thon Rosenkratz then walk diagonally across the street up and over the discreet stone stair walk way and there you will see hotel Thon Munch on Munchs Gate Rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Breakfast is great and you can walk everywhere. Also recommend the Oslo Pass if you plan to trav... Read more

After staying in Bergen the Thon Munch was a bit too 'Budget' although it was clean, the staff helpful and the breakfast very good. The layout of the main breakfast room does result in rather narrow passages and the need to constantly avoid collisions with fellow residents. Free coffee is available in the entrance hall at all hours. We had very narrow single beds that threatened falling out and only one really comfy seat was provided. The lifts were not always working and the stairs are a bit ... Read more

Photos of this hotel made it look very bright and vibrant. You can see it here in the professional photos which make the rooms look very light, not to mention the fabulous fuchsia, orange, and lime green in the common spaces. To be honest, I had looked forward to the fuchsia and green, but once I saw it, it seemed old and a bit tired, almost like it was what was left over at the wall paper store. So, okay, that's livable. What was problematic was the room lighting. This brightness in the pr... Read more

This is a standard hotel for Oslo. The rooms are very clean, very straightforward, no problems at all. It is right downtown. Good breakfast. The staff were very helpful. The bathroom was very small. It would be ideal for a single person not wanting to spend a lot of money.

Our room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location - very close to The National Gallery where we saw the famous Edvard Munch paintings (including The Scream). The hotel is within a 15 minute walk of the ferries for Bygdoy (Fram Museum and Viking Ship Museum). The breakfast was superb, especially for me being coeliac. I have to eat gluten free, so was delighted to find every item labelled for allergens. There was even a "Gluten Fre... Read more

This is a great hotel for the price. It's clean, quiet, located within walking distance to all amenities and there is a large breakfast selection, which runs until 10am on weekdays and 11am at the weekend. The hotel is part of the Thon chain and I would say it's equivalent to a Travelodge/ Premier Inn type place.

Ah, summer in northern Europe. The challenge in the cities here is to find a hotel room with that magic combination of ingredients conducive to a good night's sleep: quiet, cool and dark. And this hotel has it, and at a bargain price! I don't require a luxurious shower, high-quality bedding or an extensive breakfast buffet, but this hotel has these features (with smoked salmon!). And a wonderful staff :) Room tip: ask for a room facing into the back courtyard for a super-quiet stay; otherwise, ... Read more

The location is wonderful, we were lucky to get a room with a view, the staff was very friendly and helpful - especially at the restaurant; there were many nice little, but lovely things like the chef of the kitchen going around the tables with a coffee pot, all smiles, free hot drinks on the ground floor, and printer with some paper in it at our disposal :) GREAT breakfasts that would meet and satisfy any personal and cultural tastes and habits, we thought :)

They allowed us to check in early and had a good breakfast. The room was simple and clean. Not a lot of frills but we were out sightseeing and just needed a place to lay our heads and eat breakfast. It was convenient to most things we wanted to do. My only complaint is that we were super thirsty when we got there and you had to pay for water. Other hotels we stayed at on our trip offered water in the lobby.

Spent 4 nights in this hotel. Arrived at 1am and checked in without any issue. We were on the 8th floor facing the road - opening the window there is some noise although it's really not a busy street. Room was quite small but very clean and had everything we needed (there's no safe). Shower room small but shower was good. No a/c but there's a fan. The rooms aren't fancy but are in very good condition, exceptionally clean and were just perfect for our few days in Oslo; also a reasonable price tag (booking far in advance helped). The front desk staff are great, very helpful. Breakfast is beyond generous, lots of variety: eggs plus cooked meats, cheese, cold cuts and gravlax, raw veggies, cereal and granola, yogurt, fruit, juices, etc. You could have something different every morning and not have tried everything. Spent 5 nights here and enjoyed my room which was clean, comfortable and quiet with a great shower area. Breakfasts were really good with a huge choice of hot and cold food. Housekeeping was a little below par in not replacing dirty tea cups and tea bags plus milk/creamer in the room each day. Wifi a bit of nuisance as only given for a short time and needed to regularly reconnect.

Norway is expensive. This hotel was a bargain for us. Centrally located, less than a 10 minute walk to the train station. The service was friendly. Like most places in Norway the staff spoke English well. The room was spacious and clean and the highlight for me was the vast breakfast buffet, that was excellent. This was not a luxury hotel, but was great deal for the $90.00 we paid.

We had a room on the 9th floor which has private balconies with the rooms. Bathroom had heated floor. Decent amount of floor space in room. Ample breakfast selections. Quiet room. Beds and pillows were good. Tabletop fan provided. Staff were very friendly. This Thon hotel sets a bit further back from the wharf so the neighborhood is more quiet and has less traffic. Area feels very safe. Multiple restaurants in walking distance. Computer and printer available in lobby.

As this hotel was incredibly cheap, my expectations honestly were not huge. But it seemed recently redecorated, and the interior throughout the hotel was modern, colorful and chic. The service was great; and as I stayed for 4 nights, I was even upgraded to a double room (my reservation was for a single room) - free of charge! Also, the breakfast buffet was amazing. Reliable and good quality hotel chain, which was open during the recent strikes when many Oslo hotels closed. I would usually be more central and would choose to be again due to the extortionate taxi fares from the Oslo Central Station area back to the hotel - 6 minute journey for £15 day and £20 night!! The room was large, clean and well appointed, and the bathroom was a decent size with a great shower. Robes were provided. Nice balcony overlooking Oslo. Staff were all very friendly and ... Maybe my expectations were too high, and this place is very cheap. However, I really could not recommend it other than the fantastic breakfast buffet. It was just plain dirty. The carpets need a good cleaning in the whole hotel. Housekeeping was practically non-existent. If we did not stay in two other hotels on our Scandinavian trip, I would think maybe it was just cultural. But no, housekeeping does not even take out the trash in your room. We were excited to find an affordable hotel in central Oslo with decent reviews, but our experience upon walking into the hotel was so awful that we checked out within hours. There were a lot of folks loitering around the entrance and the location felt ducked away in a few alleys in a way that didn't make me feel safe as I arrived with my 9-year-old son.
