Excellent option for a hotel, situated almost on the main street Karl Johan's Gate and very close to the Oslo railway station. Their breakfast is very, very good. The double room was okay sized. We had a room on the second floor which had a view to a tiny courtyard, so in fact the room had no view at all. We didn't mind though, the hotel room view was not the thing we were in town for. Only thing I wish would've been better in the room is air-conditioning. It was quite stuffy and warm at times i... Read more

Two blocks from the train/bus station. Right of Karl Johan's Gate, right where everything is at. A bit of noise at night as our room faced the street. They have us bunk beds and a queen bed for a family of four. It was perfect. Breakfast was decent. -Not an expansive selection and the breakfast room was quite crowded around nine each morning, but good enough to get us going each day.

Hotel was wonderful. We didn't pay much so we weren't expecting much either. The room was small but functional, which is what we needed as we weren't going to spend much time in the room anyway. Big minus point on the bathroom though. It was really really small and you could hear everything from the room since there was a space above and under the bathroom door. The shower "door" did let all the water run into the bathroom. So minus point for that. Other than that, just good basic hotel. Special p... Read more

This was the hotel we were booked into for the first two nights of our Norwegian adventure. Yes, it was budget friendly and was not a massive room but you get what you pay for. It was centrally located, walking distance to shops and restaurants. There was a wet room rather than a bathroom, again adequate, although you had to be a contortionist to reach the toilet paper while siting on the toilet! The bed had a very soft mattress but when mentioned at reception, I got filler pillows to compen... Read more

First things first. The single rooms are REALLY small. Even if you are single traveller go for a double room. Trust me. That aside, good wifi. Good tv. Nice bathroom. Excellent location. Main Street is 2mins away. The central station no more than 5mins on foot. The breakfast was awesome. So much choice. Bit crowded. As it's budget, don't expect a good view. I got a courtyard and ducting! And it could do with air con. Even in mid May it was very hot. But if you're in Oslo on a tight budget (a... Read more

We stayed at the Thon Hotel Astoria for a few days on a business trip and it was a great experience. We were very close to the central station so we could get where we needed to go. The hotel was very convenient and comfortable and the complementary breakfast was excellent. It was a hreat stay and was easy to walk to mass transit and free city attractions in the evening: eg., harbour, palace, fort, city hall.

Excellent location, not far from Central Station, handy for buses, trams and Metro and a walking distance from main part of town. Comfortable and clean room, and a very good buffet breakfast - get stuck into that and you won't need to spend loads on food during the day - good news as Oslo is an expensive place to eat and drink!

We were a group of 18 travelling to Oslo and had booked Thon Hotel Astoria for a night. Since we had 2 kids with us I had emailed the hotel well in advance to enquire about their policy for extra beds and got a revert that an extra bed is charged at 200 NOK per night. When we got there, first the guy at the counter told us none of the rooms are ready.. it was almost 2pm. Then he says I cannot give u extra beds in the rooms coz I'm not aware of such a request. He was very very rude and in my opin... Read more

Stayed for one night 15. - 16th June 2016. Excellent service in reception, friendly and accommodating. Checked in early and was given a nice room. Space was clean, light and modern. The only drawback during the stay was the bathroom, which was teeny tiny, but everything was clean and looked new. The breakfast was lovely, there was good selection of food, everything tasted great and the breakfast room itself was nice, bright and modern. I always feel at home at the Astoria, everyone feels like a friend! It's a very convenient hotel, it's so central to all things, great for taking a night stroll and knowing you won't need a taxi to get back unless you visit restaurants on the outskirts of town!

We stayed here for one night. Location is great, about 7min walking from the trainstation. Located at the shopping street of Oslo. You can to everything by foot from here. Rooms are basic, not even closet to put your clothes is. Small bathroom. Breakfast is delicouis! So many choices. Fresh fruits, different kind of cereals, eggs, cheese, ham, local specialities, wide variety of bread. Loved it!

We were met by the smell of cigarettes in the lobby when we arrived, which made a somewhat bad impression. The rest of our stay was fine. We had a family room (four beds) which had enough space for luggage. The bathroom door is made of frosted glass and it is situated 50 cm from the master bed (no privacy). You have to walk outside to get to the breakfast area. The breakfast was nice, and you can chose between outside and inside seating. Something sweet to the coffe would have been great.

I stayed in Thon Hotel Astoria for one night in the early June. I love this hotel. I definitely will stay here again if I visit Oslo and will recommend it to my friends. It has the great location, good service and delicious breakfast. It is just few minutes walk outside of the Oslo Central station and in that station you could take the Airport express train. Very convenient. I arrived in the Oslo airport around 12:15am and the train was still running around 1am. In 25 minutes, I already was... Read more

Good budget hotel centrally located in Oslo, just a few meters away from the main street. The railway station is just 5 minutes walk away. Had a single room, room was small. Bathroom had nice size. Lack of ventilation in the room, had to open the window during the night. Breakfast was good. Great selection.

Stayed three nights in June 2016 as part of our trip all over Scandinavia. Room was small but functional. No AC but had a fan which helped. Good proximity to Karl Johan and train station and therefore transit to all over the city. The wifi was spotty but good when you were in the right area of the room. The breakfast was really good through! Nice buffet with seating indoor or outside. Outdoor seating also useful when we brought in take out for dinner. This hotel is clearly a budget property... The hotel is easy walking from the central train station and the staff were extremely helpful. The breakfast buffet is excellent with lots of choice. Be prepared for a tiny (but spotless) single room, but I didn't spend much time there except to sleep! No AC, which meant I had the fan on and the window open. Good wifi and TV. Taking everything into account, I would return.

Selected the Astoria because of its proximity to the Central Station, price (NOK 960), and the availability of a family room because there were three of us. Room (326) was clean, functional, average in terms of size. It had a double bed and two bunks that folded down from the wall, which allowed more space. It is a budget hotel, very similar to Ibis, so there is limited wardrobe space, no toiletries except soap, no washcloth, but there was a hair dryer. The rooms faced the street, but even w... This hotel is in a good location near the central train station and walkable to all of the main Oslo attractions. The room is certainly the budget type you see around Scandinavia but this one seemed to be a little older than some of the others I've stayed in and was a little worn around the edges. The wifi wasn't strong enough for me to complete all of my work during my stay. But overall, a good value for a short stay in Oslo.

This hotel is perfect for what we were looking for in this very expensive city. Price is reasonable. Location is perfect -- in the middle of everything!! 3 min walk to central station. Room was big (we had room that could sleep 4). Breakfast was awesome -- I don't say that often -- and saved us a lot of money being able to eat a nice meal here to start the day. This is certainly a budget hotel, so keep that in mind when reading other reviews which may complain about the room size. That being said, it is only blocks from the central train station and very convenient to everything. All the staff I interacted with were very friendly and helpful. English was not a problem with anyone. My room was a single person with private bathroom on the top floor. (There is a small elevator in the building.) "Free wifi" : so slow you might just as well give it up. The air-system between the rooms are terroble. You can listen to the guys in the room next door fart. Ended up having to sleep with the tv turned on and high sound so i didnt have ro listen to the conversation next door. The bathroom are really worn out and small. The "breakfast-room" are way to small, so it is hard to get a table. Will not come back, and will advise my assosiates to not use this hotel.

The staff was nice, the rooms are good (single rooms are very small) and the breakfast was nice/ ok. The breakfast is very crowded and served in another building (I think) and you need to go outside, through the backyard to eat breakfeast. During winter this is a challenge, if you don't remember to wear a winter coat for breakfast. It's not the hotels fault, but the area is kinda shady, but in a very good location in terms of transport.
