I always try and stay at the Comfort grand central when I'm on business in Oslo. Competitive pricing, friendly staff and perfect location. The breakfast is very good and when the weather is bad its nice to not have to leave the building to get to the train station

My wife and I spent the last night of our honeymoon in Oslo. Knowing we wouldn't be arriving into the city until around 7pm if we took the Flam railway, we knew we'd literally be looking for a place to put our heads down for the night when we were searching for a good central hotel online beforehand. The Comfort Grand Central appealed to us mostly because of its proximity to the main station. We weren't flying out until late the next evening, but we wanted somewhere close to the station to store... Read more

Room was very expensive and the room was dirty in particular the bathroom, they need to invest in new towels also. Low standard hotel for a high price, it was more like a hostel. The reception staff were very friendly and the location was good.

I liked this hotel. It's actually in the older part of the Grand Central train station, so one can get to one's train from inside the hotel. Room had everything needed, with some pop art on the walls. Mine was very clean, with a nice modern bathroom. Rooms can be down some rather long hallways, with split levels. Breakfast was very good, with a great staff.

The location is perfect! We arrived by train, and the lobby is ON the train station. Moreover, the train station is the starting point of the main street (which ends at the royal palace), so everything i the city is in walking distance. The Opera House is practically next door. We had two rooms, one standard single and one superior double. Both were clean and had the basics, but the standard room was small and with a military style (oooh so ugly) as the superior room was huge, however with ver... Read more

Stayed here when visiting Oslo recently on the way to Svalbard. We wanted somewhere close to the station and you can't get closer than this - it's right in the station. Lovely building. Room was modern and comfortable. Easy to reach the harbour and all the sites from the hotel. Fee tea and coffee in the reception area was a nice touch. Breakfast was tasty and lots of choice. Thoroughly recommend.

The location couldn't be any closer to the railway station. It was part of the railway station! Perfect for us arriving from Bergen by train then catching the train to Oslo airport. So close the Opera House and the perfect hub for exploring all parts of Oslo. Lovely room. Helpful staff both in the reception and at breakfast. Great breakfast. Would 100% stay again. Grand Central hotel is intergrated with the railway system. It is a good quality hotel overlooking the main walking plaza. Easy distance to anywhere in the city. Walking through the hotel into the railway station you are presented with plenty of cafes and eating places. There is also a supermarket that indulges you with take away meals. Coffee is available in the foyer and can be taken to your room. The breakfast room is very big and choice of food would suit all tastes. The restaurant is also a... Read more

The hotel is in a fantastic location, very central and could not be closer to the train station; because of this we thought it would be incredibly noisy but it was not at all! The location in Oslo is excellent and within walking distance of all major sites. Our room was in the old part of the train station and was very small even by European standards with ver few amenities. The hallway to reach the room was dark and dreary and felt like you were walking in a cell block. The room had very little space to unpack your colognes, so we lived out of our suitcases. We came into Oslo late on the train from Bergen so the hotel's location at the station was brilliant. Got a great welcome from reception. Room was very comfortable with view of harbour. We spent 4 nights in this hotel and enjoyed its sense of signage humour! The room was comfortable and the bathroom clean. The furnishing style may not be to everyone's taste but the clean lines emphasized cleanliness. A metal corner on the table was damaged leaving a rough edge. The breakfasts were adequate but the hot selection needs to be more varied for longer stayers. We found the staff helpful. The only issue was a failure to service the room one day - the oversight was promptly addressed.

Though the entrance is not advertised, just head down two levels by escalator from the main part of the station and you should be in a "hall" lined with restaurants and coffee shops. In terms of proximity to the train station you can't get any better! Also on the doorstep to the Oestbanahallen food hall. The rooms were modern and clean. The bathroom was one of the best we had in Europe, not pockey little showers like normal! Still a great hotel in a fantastic location and the staff are great. But what happened to the breakfast? It used to be a really super high quality breakfast with homemade bread and jam as well as slightly unusually, but really high quality produce. Now it looks the same from a distance, but it has gone really industrial and lowered the quality down to powdered eggs level. I will still stay here when they are not too expensive, will just not rush down to breakfast.

The Comfort Hotel is an older property situated around a mall adjacent to the train station in central Oslo. It seems to be quite large. Our room was located quite far from the reception. Loved everything about this hotel!! It is situated right next to the station and in a perfect position to access the beautiful city of Oslo. The breakfast choice was amazing and staff were friendly and extremely helpful. I particularly loved the quirky and very creative decor throughout the hotel. Each bedroom had its own unique design, as did the hotel lobby. It was my first trip to Oslo and I would definitely both recommend and stay at this hotel on any future visits.

Best thing about this Hotel is its location at the Oslo central railway station, close to the city centre. Ideal for accessing the airport train. The room we had was a little stark, with quirky furnishings but there was a good size bathroom, comfortable twin beds and a nice view over the adjacent square. If the double glazed window is kept closed the room is quiet. However if you like the window open in warm weather you should bring earplugs due to the noise outside. (There is no air cond. in t... The location of the hotel was perfect for me but I hated the loft bed and how I had no view out the window. No air gets up to the loft so it gets stuffy up there and warm. Don't stay here if you have a weak bladder as the stairs to the loft are tricky in the dark. Breakfast was good. Employees were friendly. View out window was terrible. Shower "door" wasn't long enough so it was impossible to take a shower without getting the entire bathroom floor wet. The wetness made the floor tiles slicker t... Read more

To start with, the first impression of the hotel I got was not great as I was unsure if it was a bar or a reception desk I was going to nor was it clearly marked where the reception would be. I had to resort to asking the staff if this was actually the reception, which they graciously confirmed. Once I was inside my hotel room I was going to face another disappointment, the working desk had a metallic surface and with a surface area that was uplifted right through the centre. This is a budget hotel that is perfectly functional if visiting Oslo for just a few days. It's funky decor is refreshing and the staff are friendly and helpful. But the bedrooms are small (at least mine was) and lacked natural light - see photo. I asked for a move but was told nothing available. The hotel does have more or less everything you need, but not necessarily at your fingertips as would be the case in a 4* e.g. Tea and coffee facility is in lobby, iron on level 2, no safe in room, no to... Great location (right in / by the central station). We were doing the 'Norway in a nutshell' train journey and fjord trip leaving at 6.25am so this hotel was perfect. Easy from the airport too - the train takes about 20 mins and then 2 mins walk to the hotel. Rooms quite small, but clean, great shower. All you need. They did a take away breakfast for us of smoothie, banana and apple.

This hotel is in the remodelled head building of the old Oslo central train station. The new train station is right next door - you don't even have to go outside to reach the hotel from the train, although the route is a bit hard to figure out the first time. You walk right through a restaurant in the old trainshed to find the main lobby. The rooms are decorated a bit quirky, but they are fun. The hotel has a great location, and it is hard to beat. The builiding is an old traditional building in the middle of where it happens. Unfortunatly the hotell has taken the opportunity to take too many shortcuts, and there are plenty of incovnenience in the rooms, in the ironing room, the gym, and the reception seems give the impression of a cheap style hotel. In many way it is sczichofrenc. Still, if you can ignore this, you are in a great location, just ready to enjoy Oslo

How can you beat arriving by train from the airport and walking to your hotel without going outside on a cold rainy day? Or, after enjoying the view from your room (we had a view of the Oslo Fjord and the Opera House), leaving the hotel and directly in front of you is Karl Johan Gate which is a wide cobble stone avenue with no cars allowed? Also, don't miss the very fine Italian restaurant which is part of the hotel.
