This hotel needs a thorough renovation, where dirty carpets, worn-out furniture and horrendous beds get replaced with new and better ones. The windows also need isolation to better keep noise from traffic and people on the street out of the room. Until then - avoid the place. The staff of the hotel is nice; which is good, but I am afraid it does not weigh up for the shortcomings related to poor standard.

Stayed in First Hotel Breiseth over a weekend for some skiing at Hafjell. Lillehammer and FHB is in easy reach from Oslo and it is only a short drive to Hafjell for the skiing. At arrival we were met by a very friendly receptionist who quickly checked us into a spacious and cosy room. The bed seemed very new and was very comfortable. As pointed out by others the commom areas maybe need a bit of refurbishment, however; the friendly and welcoming staff, the room and the good location certainly mad... Read more

First Breiseth Hotel was an excellent base for our visit to Lilliehamer, located right beside the train / bus station. The hotel provided good value accommodation. The staff were all friendly and helpfu, and the breakfasts were excellent. It was good to be able to get free tea and coffee throughout the day.

Had some nights at this hotel when going to take a class in the Lillehammer area. The hotel has a great location, only 2 minutes walk from the train- and the busstation. The hotel looks like time has come to a standstill for 30-40 years, and the hotel really needs a well deserved renovation. The room reminded me about a episode of Miss Marple or Poirot, I guess Agatha Christie would write a great play from this hotel. The wallpaper and the wall-to-wall carpet looks wery well used. The bathroo... Read more

We were very impressed with our service. In spite of the hotel strike the minimal staff were more than helpful, apologetic that they could not offer more. All questions were answered, issues resolved inmediately. I do not believe we have ever had more gracious reception in hotels were we have stayed. A big "Thank you" from American guests.

The Hotel Breiseth is a convenient place to stay and explore the Lillehammer area. It is next to the train station and in the central downtown. Some of the rooms are housed in a historic building and the lobby offers some unique features. Breakfast each day was hearty and healthy, a good way to start the day if you are skiing in winter or hiking in the summer. They don't have a gym in the hotel, but offer free access to one a block away.

The hotel is located in the middle of Lillehammer with walking distance to everything the city has to offer in the central area and very close to public transportation. Although the hotel itself is quite dated and the decor can not be described as modern, it is a very comfortable hotel to stay at. Luxurious, it is not. The outside area is worn and poorly maintained, and the rooms could really need a new decorator. But pure esthetics aside, if you look at what matters, it is quite nice. The cle... Read more

Very appealing place to stay. And the girls working there are very attentive and friendly (Dont forget, we are in grumpy Norway) Breakfast was first class. And from the doorstep its only few yards to train station and pedestrian street in center of town. very nice pub atmosphere, welcoming everybody in an idyllic setting. Many shops open in summer until midnight. The flaw of the hotel was their ceycards. Out of 24 rooms 13 were not accessible. It needed a housekeeper to come and open the rooms. ... Read more

The hotel is very central and very plenty. Don't expect a wonderful rooms. It was a good place to a night. I would not stay there for several days. But I think this kind of hotel is more a transit place than a Vacational hotel.

We have been there before and love the friendly atmosphere in the house and among the crew. The bigger rooms have it own soul and a friendly atmosphere giving us a good feeling and enough space to feel comfortable and free. Very good hotel, one night stay is too short, we will come back.

Stayed for one night again room was comfortable but starting to look tired. Breakfast was very good. Staff were all very helpful, waffles went down well with the children, and free car parking is good. We will use this hotel again but it would be good if the owners updated this good hotel. The staff obviously look after what they have well.

It was good an cheap. There was machines instead of a "normal" lobby. You just plotted in the reservation code and got out the keys, and the same when checking out. Had a bit of a problem, made reservation trough hotels.com, don't do that. I got a mail with reservation code, but it was an entirely different code. Had to call someone at the hotel to get the right number, which was not a hassle and was no problem.

This is a hotel located in an old building. The rooms are OK, but definitely somewhat out of date when it comes to the interior and the bathroom. However, your basic needs are well taken care of including coffee machine in the room.
