Came here for an on-site conference, Learned from last year to ask for a room in the newer building. Room was nicer, but still beat up and not as clean as I would like. Bring your own soap. Heated bathroom floor is nice. Room overheats easily, kept windows open constantly.

I was on 3rd floor facing road, and for me, there was too much road noise, I could even hear people walking. Also there was no thermostat in the room. It is a convenient location and they do have a nice breakfast that will save you some money. Lobby is nice with plenty of room to sit or have a drink.

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere in lobby and restaurant, excellent breakfast and nice rooms. Bed for couples could be improved though. Room was slightly dated in decor but warm and had a tub. Staff gave us a room with good view on request. Overall highly recommended.

Stayed in this hotel during a strike. This meant there was a smaller breakfast option than usual and the rooms weren't cleaned. Aside from this the staff was helpful and accommodating. The part of the hotel where I was staying was a bit run down. The door wouldn't always open and the elevator bounced upon arrival. The room was on the small side and a bit noisy with sounds from the street, especially since all the truckers would honk their horns in support of the strike. Breakfast options were... Read more

This hotel is located central in the city, and the welcome is very friendly. But this hotel is divided into three houses. I will be guided to a worn and old complex. The room is ok, but the noise from the street took the night sleep away from me. The bed is uncomfortable and the bathroom was made in the 80s. It is flooring that has seen its best days. Its stains on the wall, and its kind of being in a dodgy hotel in London. A very tired hotel. It is what you pay for.

This hotel hosted a conference for about 500 people in the middle of a hotel strike. The staff consisted of the Manager and about five others. In spite of this, they provided superb service and dealt with any issues that arose. Our conference was an unqualified success due to their perseverance. The hotel is definitely worth a visit.

In Town for a private visit this time, and as we would have a meeting at this hotel during our stay, It was convenient to book our stay here as well wanting to pamper the wife a bit, I booked a suite (got 801) So it consists of a sitting-room, a bedroom, and it's possible to sit on the balcony outside- a common area for the four rooms on this floor. We had to get extra towels from the reception, since both chairs and table were too grimy to be useable. The room is OK, clean and tidy, but the ven... Read more

I originally got a room in the building to the left of the main reception. There are rooms in 3 different buildings, and where you end up is really important with regards to how you rate this hotel. I think people that have rooms in the main reception building will be quite satisfied and rate the hotel a 3. However counting in the other rooms it really is not worth more than a 2 star rating. First room was just above a disco and when the music was banging away at midnight I complained. 01.1... Read more

I got a fairly decent room rate by Bergen standards, but there were drawbacks. Most parts of the hotel are fairly worn-out. My room was very basic and very hot. I kept the windows open all day and night, but it really didn't help that much and let the street noise in instead. Not that I really mind that, but many do. There was no safe in the room. A couple lamps didn't work. Beds were quite OK, TV was working, wifi was good most of the time, and the desk was good enough for doing some work. The ... Read more

Our room was large, scrupulously clean and very comfortable. The bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows. Our room was exceptionally quiet. The hotel receptionists were exceptionally helpful and had very useful city maps. Breakfast was a wide selection of hot and cold dishes. Plenty to eat and continually refreshed. My only quibble was that even on Sunday, breakfast was only till Sunday.

Scandic Bergen City might have many categories of rooms, and some might be renovated, but my room was old and surprisingly worn. The noise from the traffic and daily life outside is too much. The windows are old and does not filter noise. The comfort and value is to poor, and the Scandic Bergen City cannot be rated more than two stars.

The hotel is located in two buildings opposite each other. The newer one is of course the better one. Firstly, I got a room in the old one but there was a problem with door locker and I was moved to the other building. The rooms look very similar in both but the public areas or elevators are different. All in all, this was a good choice.

The hotel was a significant number of positives and negatives. The positives were it was in a good location it is relatively easy to find and it has a great breakfast. The negatives were we were in the old building and had a room that was not updated it was very tired. They advertise mini refrigerator is a feature. In my room it was not functioning and the clerk indicated that they had not worked for a significant amount of time.

The hotel is very tired and can not be recommended. All areas of the hotel including reception, breakfast areas and rooms(including the superiour) are old and tired. Our motorcoach Grand Tour of Scandinavia stopped here while in beautiful Bergen. We had a triangular shaped room close to the elevator on an upper floor, so we had to keep our curtains closed so elevator traffic couldn't see inside our room. The room was beautifully decorated, very comfortable and ultra modern. We can highly recommend this hotel as it is also very close to a beautiful, although lengthy walk (for those with a cane) around a lovely lake leading to a vibrant and colorful downtown. ... This hotel is spread across three buildings and I got the impression that the building we were in was an afterthought. It was incredibly run down and shabby - the lift had holes in it, there was a massive gap in the tiles on the bath, etc. The breakfast was OK but only OK, not good. On the plus side, the location was good and they offer a discount for the multi storey car park (just get your ticket validated by reception after you've parked). After my recent stay, I have rated this hotel as poor. This is not because it is a bad hotel, but in relation to the price paid, and in relation to standards at other Scandic hotels, then it is not good. It appears that Scandic are cutting back even further, and the Scandic Bergen City now appears more like a 1 start travellers overnight hotel.
