Terminus is a place that has seen better time. But as a guest you still get this whiff of past times, with polished dark wood and the opposite of trendy. At least in the reception area. The room I got (208) was spacious, very light with two big windows and a canopied bed. I would definitely ask for that room again. The location is perfect, just behind the railway station and within walking distance to more or less everything.

Firstly, let me say that I don't write many poor reviews, but this hotel really let us down. We booked a deluxe room as we knew we would be tired after doing Norway in a nutshell and wanted a bigger, quieter room after our long day. Upon check in we were told that because of computer problems, our room has been given away and they had a standard room available. To me this was code for "since you are checking in later we had someone that was willing to pay more for your room, so we gave it to t... Read more

Stayed her with my wife and two young children. Great room comfy beds. Just what we needed after a long day on the plane and train. Really short walk from the train station. The style is original with the building but by no means dated, and it has all the modern convenience. The breakfast was the best I have had in any hotel.

The hotel is really convenient for the station although the area appears like a building site. Our room was very large, but was bare with mismatched furniture and very poor quality curtains which did not keep the street light out at night. Breakfast was good and varied although the experience could have been improved if we were welcomed and shown to a table instead of wandering around aimlessly. The staff were friendly and helpful apart from the early morning receptionist on our last day who was... Read more

Initially walking into the lobby of this hotel we thought it was beautiful. Lots of old charm and character. Very pretty! In attempting to get to our room we had some difficulty because we were sent to a room that was already occupied, probably a worse experience for the person inside the room than for us. The room is a decent size which is nice, the beds were fine, nothing to write home about. The view is not so beautiful as we looked out on construction at the train station but there's nothing... My boyfriend and I spent a night here when doing the Norway in a Nutshell trip (which we booked ourselves and saved about £25 a head) from Oslo to Bergen. I really liked the hotel. It is right beside the train station in Bergen which was welcome after a long day's travelling. The hotel communal areas (reception, stairs, lounge, restaurant) are really pretty - old fashioned and beautifully kept. I imagine that's what a Norwegian stately home would have looked like in the early 20th century. The ... Read more

Our room on the fourth floor was small but adequate - if you didn't want to hold a party - but it faced a side road which was noisy, mostly chatter from the (presumably) flats opposite. Since this was June and the weather warm windows were open which allowed sound to travel. The hotel retains the faded grandeur of past and possibly better times. The restaurant is spacious but, if, full, extremely noisy. The evening meal we had was unexciting. The breakfast was okay but I'd have welcomed a wider ... Read more

This is indeed a very nice looking hotel, so your first impression of both the lobby and room will probably be a good one. I think perhaps we were a little bit unlucky with our room though. Again, it looked nice enough at first, but the window had a view to... ventilation machinery, shafts and the like. We stayed at the second floor. Also, said ventilation outside our window made quite a lot of noise at night, at least the first night (for some reason it was more quiet the second night). I'm ... Read more

We stayed here for 3 nights in March and we were placed in room 501 on the 5th floor. The room had a horrible feel to it and my boyfriend was kept awake by the sound of a crying child in the night . When we looked in the morning to see where the noise was coming from, the room was vacant . We asked to be put in another room after reading about 501 in the booklet in the bedroom.... The staff were very accommodating and moved us on the same night but I would advise not to read the booklet if you... Read more

I am happy I only stayed here one night. The very few staff were lovey. But basically there was no one to help with luggage or anything else. The rooms were clean and neat but no amenities of any kind. The location was good. The hotel is worn around the edges.

One of the oldest hotels in Bergen has always offered comfort, a sense of luxury and a laid-back atmosphere. It still does. The common areas are full of history, the food is lovely and the whiskey bar is the best in Bergen. Even the rooms are good, not bad considering its an old hotel

We were in the Villa portion of the hotel. We were told it was an "upgrade", most likely due to it having been renovated whereas the hotel itself has not. No elevator to the villas, lots of stairs making it quite difficult to carry a heavy suitcase up the stairs. Staff was actually with us and did not offer to carry the bags for the women. Personally the hallways are very dark and not inviting. The rooms have very poor lighting, hard to read in bed, put on makeup, etc. No A/C and it was quite hu... Read more

The hotel is located near the main station just a 5 minute stroll from the centre of town and only 2 minutes from a nearby shopping mall. Somewhat smallish room on the 5th floor with an ensuite bathroom. Our room had two twin-sized beds pushed together, which was fine for one night, but as mentioned in other reviews, the walls ARE thin. Overall, okay accommodations if you have early morning rail travel plans, since the hotel is adjacent to the main rail station in Bergen (a taxi to the airport takes about 30 minutes). Allow a good 15 minutes to walk to the historic harbor. Nice breakfast buffet with lots of choices, both hot and c... Read more

Good value, easy location to use with a 10 minute walk to harbour, the hotel even offers umbrellas to help with the regular rainfall in Bergen. One night in Grand Terminus hotel in Bergen is wonderful. This hotel is like 10 feet walk from Bergen railway station. Staff were very nice and helpful. Classic old style hotel, grand entrance, fantastic Whiskey Bar and generally a vintage 5 star hotel. Position is central to Bergen tourist sites and a stone's throw from the main railway station. Having said that the furniture in the room I stayed in was rather threadbear and had seen better days some time ago.

Grand Hotel Therminus is located right next to the train station. Literally. You cross the street and you are home, which was VERY convenient since we arrived by a train and were exhausted after a long train trip. The hotel is older and it has a lot of charm. Our room was surprisingly big for a regular room and it had a king bed and a couch for the kids. The breakfast spread was pretty decent, with standard variety of choices.
