I am rating this hotel very good, although my review is only based on a very brief one night stay with a quick breakfast before leaving. But the atmosphere leads me to believe that it is a good hotel. The staff at the front desk was very friendly - when they were there. At check-in I had to wait for quite a while before the attendant came. I got a very good room at one of the upper floors, facing the harbour, so the view was magnificent. Just a pity I didn't have much time to enjoy it. The free ... Read more

Very good hotel. I specifically looked for a hotel closest to the mount Aksla, as I wanted to climb on its top to see the famous view of Alesund. Mount Aksla is just behind Scandic Parken. But Alesund is small and everything is within walking distance (town centre, bus station, Alesund church, museums). The staff is efficient and helpful. Quick check in and check out. The breakfast starts at 7 AM and is a big one, with lots of choices. WiFi works well in the room. When I stayed in the hotel the ... Read more

Good location next to the park, hence the name. Decent sized room, very clean, could have been better black-out curtains as with the sun until late as well as the street lams makes it difficult to sleep. The breakfast buffet is one of the best we had in Norway save Trondheim with a very large selection of food. Very helpful front desk staff.

If you are going to √?lesund, Scandic Parken hotel could be a good choice. Located just a few steps up from the center, you get a very nice view of the town. Friendly staff at the reception and in the restaurant.

We stayed in Scandic Parken for just 1 night and were completely satisfied. It's location is very convenient for city exploration. Rooms are decent size and very clean, WiFi was strong and stable. Few thing that worth mentioning 1. There is a small free parking lot for customers in the back of hotel as parking in Alesund could be tricky. 2. As other mentioned: excellent breakfast that could last you a good portion of a day. 3. There is a number of restaurant nearby. 4. "Seven 11" store where y... Read more

Spent a weekend here after a fantastically scenic drive over the mountains (Lom, Dalsnibba, Geiranger). This hotel is very centrally located, offers in-house parking for a fee, and welcomes you in a large lobby area staffed by a young and friendly staff. The room was fine, nicely furnished and had wall-to-wall windows that offered a very nice view - on this particular night a view of the world-record setting bonfire. Breakfast was good, although hordes of guests strained the capacity of the bu... Read more

Clean rooms and typical Scandinavian style. I had a nice view from the 6th floor on the seaside, huge window to see in all directions. Breakfast is very good, plenty of choices of bread, cereals, continental style and typical Norwegian food. Service at reception is friendly. Will be my next place to stay in this town.

Ordered a room with a view and got a great room in the 6th floor overlooking the city, the sea and the mountains nearby. Easy to park in the parking house below the hotel. The service was great both in reception and breakfast. The breakfast was really good, with lot of variety, there was even a separate kids table with cereals in toy lorries! Highly recommended.

We stayed in this hotel for a week as part of a motorcycle tour. The hotel was very clean, the breakfast buffet was huge, and the staff was very friendly. The room was a little tight for two of us for a week with all our gear, but the gorgeous view over the city (sort of a miniature version of what you see from the Fjellstua viewpoint) was wonderful to wake up to. My only complaint was that the rooms didn't have coffeemakers and there was no free coffee in the lobby for guests.

Sorry I will never be back in this hotel: 1. Terrible TV service, 10 channels and not even CNN. 2. Unfriendly staff. Having a late afternoon beer out by the front of the hotel in the smoking section, a receptionist of the hotel came out and with poor manners confiscated our beer can arguing that the beer was not bought at the hotel bar, which by the way, was close all 5 days we were at the hotel. 3. The bad tubs are extremely slippery and the hotel doesn't even provide anti-slippery mats. 4. E... Read more

Nice hotell close to everything in √?lesund. Parking is expensive around here though. Nice hotel, clean and fresh looking rooms. The breakfast is very good - lots to choose from at the buffet. Many bus tourists though, but not to crowded. Nice walk from behind the hotell up to a view point - very nice for an evening or morning walk - and you get a great view of √?lesund from the top. Hotel is a chain, but nice, clean and comfortable.

What I loved most about this hotel is the breakfast buffet. Larger than we've seen in Norway so far. Even gluten free options! Very friendly staff, great beds and shower. No fridge/ coffee and tea making facilities in the room. No pool. Parking in the garage or on the streets. Expensive though. Parking in the streets is free after 4pm, so you may want to check that out if you leave early.

My wife and I spent three nights at this hotel. It was the sixth leg of a self-arranged fly drive tour of southern and mid-Norway. The hotel is situated a short walk from the harbour in Alesund, close enough to see the town‚??s attractions on foot. It is next to the park (Byparken) from which lead the 418 steps to Alesund‚??s prime attraction ‚?? the Fjellstua viewpoint. Check-in was very slick. On arrival we were fortunate enough to secure a parking spot to the rear of the hotel. Here the ... Read more

Christopher at the Check in time at Reception was amazingly helpful. Breakfast was a vast spread. Smoothies were a hit. Location is perfect for shopping, restaurants, sightseeing, parking and taking HURTIGRUTEN Cruise to Bergen at 1am !!! its a 2 min walk. One thing to dislike abt this hotel is they don't have free parking, their garage is generally full and its NOK 250 per day.

This hotel is on a hill so it is a bit of a climb with luggage from the bus stop. But it is not a big deal if you don't have too much of luggage. The bus stop where the airport bus stops is about 5- 10 mins away. Also the ferry stop is also about 10-15 mins away by walk, so it is a really convenient place to stay. If you stay in the higher floor rooms facing the harbour, you will get a beautiful view (friends of ours got a room on the 9th floor in the older wing which had a more traditional deco... Read more

We stayed here two nights when visiting √?lesund. We got a nice surprise already at check-in. We got a suite instead of superior room since the hotel was fully booked. We got a really cute, cozy room with a view on the Godoya island and the harbour.. I loved it! Positive: - cozy - bathroom was nice with heated floors. Ahh heaven! - very friendly staff Negative: - bed wasn't a double, but two twins and that was uncomfortable. One of us (me) would always fall in the gap and the beds moved on the floor - the TV was old, small and not very good and with cables hanging out. - the restaurant was very expensive

There are at least three Scandic hotels in this small town, with two of them on the same street without clear distinguishing signs, including this one. So at first we walked into the wrong hotel, realized our mistake and then walked up to the right one. And I really do mean "up" as these hotels are on a road with quite a bit of a slope, so be careful if you have lots of luggage or heavy pieces. Once you get into the hotel, you find its location to be a short walk from most of the major attracti... Read more

I stayed at the Scandic Parken for a long weekend and found it to be the perfect option for exploring Alesund and the surrounding sights. The hotel is located within feet of the entrance to the Fjellstua and walking to distance to everything else in the town (including the ferry docks/bus stops). I was offered an upgrade for a nominal amount and highly recommend doing so. I had a beautiful view of the harbour. Other reviewers are not mistaken when they say that the breakfast is awesome. Very good location and the buffet breakfast was very good with a lot of variety. Very close to the 418 stairs and the city centre. Comfortable and enjoyable stay and would recommend. It's also close to bunnpris supermarket and the bus for Alesund airport (25min, 90kr). Should be noted that Norway taxes alcohol heavily and a pint can cost c. 100kr in pubs and supermarkets don't sell alcohol on Sunday. Hoffman near the hotel had cheap beer and good food.

Scandic Parken in √?lesund offers spacious rooms, most of them with a view. The design might be a bit old fashioned, but it is honest and stylish with identity. The location is good, close to the entrance to the Aksla stairs. Some say the hotel has the best breakfast in Norway, but it is just an ordinary Scandic breakfast. That said; a standard Scandic breakfast is wonderful. My room had no functional air-conditioning, but I survived thanks to a fully opening window.
