We recently booked 2 rooms via an internet site, the price was very good and definitely value for money , the grounds are amazing and the villas are great, it's very close to town and to huka falls and the prawn park, but the wifi is really terrible which when you have to check work emails is bad, the couch in the room is tiny so you can't really relax comfortably, my sisters unit smelled terrible and there were people doing work right outside our bedroom window very early in the morning, also ... Set in lovely tranquil grounds but rooms were very dated. Walls were very thin and could hear the people talking in the next room. TV was tiny and completely in the wrong place but it was cheap so if you are looking for budget accomodation it was fine.

We stayed here for 5 nights as a stop off driving from Auckland to Wellington. We stayed in a one bedroom villa and it was very spacious for the two of us - had a fridge, cooking hob and pans etc. in the kitchen. The bedroom was nice - comfy bed and the bathroom was very clean and spacious. It's only 3km from huka falls and a short drive from town whilst being quiet as a resort. We had neighbours the whole time during our stay (the villa is split up A and B) and you can definitely hear their ev... Read more

We have stayed here a number of times before however this time things were run down and in need of freshening up. Our unit smelled locked up and stale. The carpet was extremely worn and the wood in the bathroom needing to be sanded and revarnished or replaced. When we arrived we found our unit all locked up and windows shut despite it being a hot day. It was stuffy and needed to be aired. This place is in need of refreshment. It's a bit out of town without lake views but units are big and in la... Read more

We stayed here as a treat with the kids for one night, we were told we were only the second people to stay in the 3bed unit, it's looked nice enough, BUT There was a dirty towel with brown marks folded nicely in the bathroom. So disgusting. The power meter which is located next to the master bedroom inside the unit made a grinding noise every 20 seconds from 2am until around 5.30am. The tv - we tried watching a movie but the tv cut out every few minutes. I reported these faults to reception ... Read more

A bit eerie to drive in with multiple reproduced cottages... but they were lovely, well equipped kitchen, comfy bed, very private. Staff very helpful and enthusiastic. Amazing place to relax and enjoy the surrounds. Only disappointment was no onsite spa (but you can book a spa containing room). Would recommend to all and definitely stay again.

Receptionist was a friendly welcoming young lady, helpful and just right after a 17 hour car day. Arrived in the middle of a wedding reception near the check - in area, beautiful melodic Maori song filled the area. It was dark on arrival, there was plenty of turning space for the car and caravan. Villa was clean, heating efficient and bigger than I expected. We had a nice walk around the grounds in the morning. Definitely stay here with a family, the kids have space and it's safe for them to ... Read more

Looks good from the outside. It's very quiet. Rooms are very basic. Heaters don't work that well (turn off and on). Internet is terrible. Winery is only opened when there is an event on. Friendly staff.

Stayed 2 nights in a studio unit that had a connecting door to the neighboring unit, but found it very quiet. Room is a bit older but we'll maintained and very clean. We opted for a "greenie" studio which basically means that housekeeping does not service your room, but was a little cheaper. Staff friendly and helpful. We paid $74 per night with free parking. All considered was good value for money. Will stay again

Came here for a weekend away with NY partner and booked last minute the night before. I'm not sure if its because we booked last minute or maybe the fact that Taupo is so small but I would not consider this value for money considering the places I've stayed at in the past. The receptionist was lovely and very informative. The room itself is average at best..the couch and TV were so tiny it made watching TV awkward as you couldn't even relax on the couch. all of the furnishing look tired and old ... Read more
