I stayed here on the 07th jan for one night. Knowing and being aware that Rotorua is a tourist hotspot, I did expect accomodation to be full - which it was. The available hotels were: Silveroaks geyserland, Princess gate and Distinction. When I booked online through booking.com, I noticed these rates were well higher than the $104.40 I paid to this hotel - keeping in mind the high tourist season. I knew with this that i was to expect very basic accomodation - not something particularly modern wi... Read more

I was hoping to get away to a motel room that felt inviting but this stay was quite the opposite. It was horrible, the beds felt dusty, the pillows had little stains and the bed spread had like a blood stain on it. I didn't want to take my shoes off as the floors and carpets looked disgusting, I didn't want to put my son's food in the fridge as it was old and had an old smell to it. The sliding door didn't open and when I went to turn the ceiling fan on it looked so wobbly it looked like it was ... Read more

Where do I start with this place? No Sky tv. No wifi. No usable pool. Lift not working. Apparently the pool's been out of action for a year. Everything in this hotel looks like it was bought in the 50s and nothing has been cleaned, repaired, renovated, or upgraded since then. The room had stains everywhere. On the carpet. In the bathroom. On the walls. On the couch. On the bedsheets. We found blood stains on the bedsheets and dead squashed bugs also on the bedsheets. The side window had only a b... Read more

Terrible. Room was run down and dirty, didn't get the room we booked nor the right amount of anything, dirt and squished insects on the bed sheets. Mould everywhere, door key never worked, facilities didn't work and poor customer service from reception. Would rather sleep in car ???

This has to be one of the worst hotels in Rotorua. The whole hotel including the rooms is extremely run down and dated. The hotel is literally falling apart. It looks like the owners have not spent a single dollar on the place in many years. The pool was filthy dirty and was un-swimmable. I could perhaps overlook the issues if the hotel charged budget rates. However, we paid $185 for one night!! The only saving grace was the great view of the geysers from our room. Also the staff were friendly a... Read more

Old fashioned, not too clean, empty revolting pool. Best thing was view from windows! Only a PowerPoint socket holding a mirror from crashing to the floor!! Facilities nonexistent although apparently breakfast was available we really didn't want it.

...as it overlooks the geyser flat. But someone needs to gut the building and start again. Really nice check in staff, but the building is in poor shape, with rust, cladding coming away, a drained and stagnant swimming pool. Room clean and tidy as far as it went; brilliant view of the thermal area, but carpet stained, wall coverings coming away, rust on the balcony. Bed reasonably comfortable and clean. Which makes for a good sleep.

All we can say is "false advertising", the room was so old, light didn't work properly room was so dark, peel-off wall, old and disgusting toilet. No fridge/mini-bar. The pool was empty and closed of course. Also if the pool and other facilities are being closed for maintenance, guests should be informed. I can see the hotel's manager responded to some negative reviews, well if you have time to reply why don't just remove all the advertising photo of the pool when it didn't even look closed i...
