Overlooking Latimer Square this place feels like an oasis. Once inside it has everything one could want including the absolutely stunning restaurant (Bloody Mary's- see separate review on TA). Superb rooms backed by superb staff. Easy to get to and ample off street parking.

Probably the quietest city hotel I have ever stayed in! Not that busy as it was a Sunday but we heard nothing, no corridor noise, no inter room noise and only very, very faint traffic due to the double glazing. This is a new hotel with a lot of modern extras. Beds are very comfortable - pillows could be better. Lovely spacious shower, no silly bath shower and heat pump individually controlled. Value for money and handy location.

There had been an earthquake the day before our arrival (14th February). When we arrived at reception, the receptionist was talking to someone on the phone and explaining that the hotel was recently built, and built to withstand earthquakes. Obviously a concern for some people. The hotel does have a very modern feel about it and our room was huge (Number 146). We had an evening meal in the hotel, which was delicious and good value. It is situated a fifteen minute walk from the main City Centre a... Read more

We booked this hotel as a deal with flights. Located in the city centre and newly built. A very clean place and very comfortable to stay. Has comfortable beds with very fresh and modern rooms. Views are beautiful. The hotel overlooks Latimer Square and is generally a very quiet area. Has a nice restaurant down for casual dining. Wifi is great! Recommended place to stay in Christchurch.

The entire team at Rydges Latimer Square are outstanding and the facilities are excellent. It was a pleasure to stay at this property and I look forward to returning. Right from the initial booking to departure, Rydges staff provided a supreme service. Indeed, I felt the staff went beyond any expectation to provide an outstanding level of kindness and ensure my stay was beyond excellence during Christchurch Marathon 2016. Thank you - a thousand times, thank you.

The hotel is good and quite close to city centre. The rooms too were quite spacious and well maintained. Front staff were helpful too. Would absolutely recommend this place to stay while in Christchurch.

Loved our stay, very friendly staff, large clean room, quit and the Meals we had at the Restaurant were delicious. I was impressed with the help we received from the staff on checkin they really took interest in us. It is a 10minute walk to the city I would say and I looooved that you could open the widows for fresh air a very big plus for me.

Really happy with our stay at Rydges. Rooms were great. The bar side for dining with young teenagers was really good and breakfast was fantastic. Great service from the staff too. Would highly recommend. Location wasn't that far from central Christchurch either.

Enjoyed our stay at Rydges. The restaurant meals were excellent. We were part of a group attending a seminar at the hotel and could not fault the facilities provided. We are looking forward to staying with you again in July.

Large comfortable room for a family. Great view over Latimer Square and to the South of the City. Rydges has free parking with easy access from 3 streets. Very easy to find among rebuild of the City. New, clean and friendly, it is a unique oasis in Christchurch at the moment. Great value for weekend stays. Will definitely return.

The hotel is new and nice. The personnel is mostly nice and helpful. The big surprise for me was the breakfast when suddenly my experience changed. I had a coffee that took 15 minutes to arrive... I took some fruits and I was disgusted to find it old and rotten. I took after some Danish and croissant and the quality was really poor... I've decided to go basic and I took a piece of bread and I wanted some jam... They were nicely display in jars but without labels... And so you could just guess wh... Read more

I cannot speak highly enough about the wonderful facilities, dining experience and service provided me during my recent stay at the Rydges Latimer. My room was quite superbly appointed and wonderfully spacious, ideal for both the business traveller and for a relaxed weekend in town. Executive Chef, Mark McManus, is truly a master of his profession and great credit to the Rydges Latimer, and I would highly recommend dining in at Bloody Mary's for a special night out!

Staying 2 nights. Booked restaurant for 7.30 which in my opinion is early. Sides offered with meals includes cauliflower cheese. At 7.45 all out of cauliflower cheese, unbelievable, spoilt the meal and whole experience of staying there. Would not go back.

The hotel is brand new and earthquake compliant. The rooms are clean and cosy. The hotel has double glazing so it's great for noise control There is a bar and restaurant that serves from basic bar meals at the bar to more substantial and sophisticated meals within the restaurant The staff are polite although I had a small problem with the bookings and the manager was a little difficult to deal with at first. This was however rectified on face to face meeting Overall though the hotel is lovel... Read more

Overall facilities of the hotel are great. The issue is the lack of parking. This may have been caused by an event taking place, nonetheless, contingencies should be put in place for people staying at the hotel. Parking on the street and walking to the hotel with bags is not ideal. Especially on a rather cold night. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Good location, quiet, clean, spacious rooms, value for money and friendly staff make this hotel a winner. We would stay here again. With all the constructions works around Christchurch, this hotel is a great alternative to staying amongst the noise in the city centre.

Everything you could need, very modern - would have been the ideal business stay but the bed was two singles pushed together. Ruined everything for me. Would give them another shot, but ensure I don't get the twin "converted" room.

Bedrooms spacious and very well appointed, comfy bed, excellent shower. The conference facilities were well laid out and the food is excellent.

Great hotel to stay in, staff were fantastic and very helpful. The bed was very comfortable and a very clean hotel. Would recommend a stay in you're in Christchurch. Also has a good restaurant attached however a little pricey but worth it for a good night or celebration.

Well maintained property with all modern amenities...a short walk away from most city attractions...some of the attractions (such as the Cardboard Cathedral) are around the corner...we spent a couple of days last December while on our trip to the South Island...the buffet breakfast has a very good spread and the rooms have all the necessary amenities...the room service is also quite good...

What could have been a very good stay ruined by the staff attitude. First impressions upon arrival were good ... place looked good , check-in was OK as greeting was nothing special. Room fine but immediately I noticed no bottled drink water left for the guest so I enquired at the front desk after eating in their restaurant ... simply told that if that is what I wanted then I could purchase one through the mini-bar or just drink tap water ! I could not believe such a reply !! At breakfast I ask... Read more

Thank goodness my family had booked into here, as there didn't seem any where as nice to stay in central Christchurch. We had the two bedroom apartment which was spacious and clean. Beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was nice. Kitchenette was a little too small for a family of four to use. Great location to the city (what is left of it), so everything is walking distance. The in- house casual restaurant, though a little expensive, offered great service and food. The hotel (which was a bo... Read more

Stayed on business for three days, rooms were excellent, beds were comfortable and breakfast was OK. Never had a dinner there but every night we were there it was crowded with locals. This says a lot for a hotel. Good secure carpark and close to some excellent dinner venues.

Attended a two day conference here in July. Approximately 250 delegates. Rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. Stayed on the third floor. Bed was great and the room was very quiet for a Friday and Saturday night in the middle of Christchurch. The facilities were ideal for the conference, the staff were excellent and the food was of a high standard. An added bonus was plenty of off street parking.
