We stayed at the hotel last week. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The service from the staff was quick and looked effortless. I tripped outside and hit my head, when I came inside the lady at reception ran over to help with the first aid kit and was very caring. She rang later on the day to find out how I was feeling and if there was anything else she could help with. Will definitely stay there again when in Christchurch.

Lovely, modern hotel. Central location right in the CBD. Very quiet, as alot of the building sites are bare land at the moment. Stayed on the 9th floor, and had brillant views of Christchurch and the surrounding area. Nice breakfast in the morning, and lovely evening meal in the restaurant.

Stayed at Novotel for 3 nights on business. Had problems at check in, and when I mentioned it was booked and paid for by work, staff were quite short and rude. Room was nice and tidy. Find it a little strange having a bathroom basin in my room. Dinner was disappointing, seafood chowder lacks flavour, steak quite tough and chewy. Breakfast buffet was good. Rooms really need to have more information about the hotel, and surrounding area. I was not aware there was an onsite restaurant that offered ... Read more

My partner and I stayed here for a car trip up to Wellington and this was our first stop. I didn't realize how much the city is still in ruins from the earthquakes, most building are still yet to be rebuilt, however Novotel was a great hotel amidst all the re planning. It's modern, clean, and would of had amazing views pre earthquake but our room looked over the cathedral which was devastated by the earthquake which made me feel quite sad. We had a couple of nights here. Checked In by a lovely young lady. Given a choice of a gift for some reason, we chose the free valet parking which was a good call as that is 35 a day. If you don't use the valet park option you can park in the carpark adjacent to hotel for about $5 ??a night but be warned if it rains it's a giant swimming pool and you will need gumboots to rescue your car. Breakfast was included in our rate and was perfectly fine. The room is adequate but bathroom situation... Read more

Very nice, modern hotel in a great location. The room was comfortable, but having the sink outside of the bathroom - essentially in the bedroom - was less than ideal. If you are alone it is no issue, but if you are trying to sleep while someone else is getting ready at the sink, it's a little difficult. The restaurant was lovely and the food very good. Wifi was free if you filled out a quick and free membership application.

It was the last leg of my tour, ending with a very comfortable stay at Novotel. It has free 2-way shuttle service to the casino in town any time, so just gather a group of fewer than 9 people and they will shuttle you off. Coming back will need to tell the reception at the casino about 1 hour ahead so they can call the driver, if not you can just take a cab at around 10nzd for 7-8 pax. At night, there is really nothing much in the town, the nearest macdonalds is at least 2km away. Best bet fo... Read more

We mainly chose this hotel due to location which is very central & handy for the city, it's what you would expect from a large chain hotel-comfortable modern & a little bland. The staff were super friendly & the breakfast was good. The hotel overlooks the crumbling cathedral which is so sad to see & the tram goes right past. No on site parking which is strange as there is still so much vacant land surrounding the hotel, Wilson parking is next door for $10 a day.

I needed a hotel in the centre of the city for a night and thought I would treat myself (I wrongly assumed that because it was pricey that meant luxury). This hotel, although in a great location, felt like it was built in a hurry so that there were accommodation options for tourists in Christchurch. The fit-out in the room was cheap and it had a very weird bathroom configuration. The carpark was not paved and was stoney and muddy, you have to carry your bags not wheel them. After the earthquake, the Novotel is one of the tallest buildings standing and usable. In the heart of the city center, you can walk a few minutes in any direction and find great places to eat. The rooms are comfortable. Internet was not very fast, but it was reliable. Everyone was very helpful. Breakfast was included and it was good food, but not a lot of variety

Christchurch Novotel sits right in the middle of this city of mixed emotions. First is the sadness and obvious physical damage from the 2011 earthquake, then there is the exuberance and vitality of the people charged with rebuilding. The hotel overlooks Cathedral Square - ask for a room with a window towards the cathedral, you will not regret it. Visiting Christchurch as part of a recent business trip to NZ was somewhat last-minute. We felt that seeing the city first hand after the recent 'quakes and its subsequent rebuild is pivotal in our understanding of how the city re-build is progressing. This hotel says it's 4 star but that's a bit of a stretch. The room was reasonably comfortable though I hardly slept as the bed was so incredibly hard. Breakfast was OK but not great. Oddly there was a speaker in the bathroom connected to the TV - and it was VERY VERY LOUD. Even when the TV was muted outside, it still blared in the bathroom - no chance of a relaxing bath. Also, $35 a day for outside valet parking is a complete rip off.

We stayed two times at this same place on our visit and we were okay with the place. Its not a huge property. Room size was good and had a small balcony also in the room. On a distant walk their are couple of food options so we were quite happy with the place and the breakfast buffet was also quite good with the descent pricing we got. But the place seemed to be more for an official visit purposes rather than couples.

We stayed in Christchurch twice as a base whilst we took some domestic flights. Check-in was smooth and the staff friendly. The rooms were well appointed but I note the unusual bathroom layout with the sink outside. Our first room had a bath and was quite cramped. Services like WiFi and tea/coffee were good and the rooms were clean and modern. The restaurant was good and breakfast buffet excellent. We did have a disappointing breakfast in the room with uncooked eggs served to us. We were offered... Read more

We stayed here twice - once on our way down to tour the south of the island then again on our last night before we flew out (as it is only about a 15 minute taxi run to the airport from here.) We were given a room on floor 8 on the cathedral side - nice room with large ceiling to floor window ,bright and airy . Usual furniture - comfy bed , sofa, desk, mini bar extra. Bathroom had shower over bath and toilet in area with sliding door off bedroom, but sink was in main area of bedroom with the... Read more

Hotel has a great location in Cathedral Square. This is not a luxury hotel, but is clean, and has decent amenities. The service is good, and the breakfast was solid. If I ever visited Christchurch again, I would stay here.

This hotel was reasonably priced and comfortable. Close to the city centre of Christchurch. Friendly and helpful staff. The only down side to our stay is having to pay $35 a day for car parking. The other 2 Novotel we stayed at during our trip only charged us $20.

After five weeks in New Zealand and Australia, Novotel Christchurch was the hotel we enjoyed the most. Check in was courteous and efficient (although we were not impressed by an internet charge for non members and a further charge for using a credit card). Our room on the 10th floor was light and airy with splendid views. The approximately 340 square foot room was equipped with a mini bar, kettle, iron & board and a safe. Although the bathroom was modern and attractive we found it cramped an... Read more
