Upon arrival, it took 10 minutes to check in and we were told one of the rooms was unavailable as it hadnt been cleaned...okay i can understand that, it happens. We arrived in our rooms to find one of them had a king bed instead of the twins we had organised and the toilet hadnt been cleaned and remnants were left..yuck.. we rang reception and no one answered..went down to reception and okay they apologized and offered us an upgrade...we went out and were told they would transfer all our belongi... The hotel we have stayed during the Easter time is of great locations. We have stayed first for one night and then for another three nights in a row. There would be at times very poor reception handling and direct us to a very lousy room which we required a room change. For 4 nights stay, there are limited offers to us for wifi access or breakfast. The service attitude could much improve to impress visitors.

We arrived at Stamford Plaza, backpacks in hand and dressed far too casually. But the staff were welcoming, and we were quickly checked in. We caught the lift up to room 730, opened the door - and there, waiting for us, was a bottle of champagne, cheese and crackers from my Mum, ready for our anniversary! The Plaza staff had been kind and smart enough to let some random woman holding gifts (with the same last name as my booking) up to our room to set up this surprise for us. They could have been... Extremely underwhelming visit made worse by a general lack of staff or staff that were actually working. Check in was more credit card and here's your room key (no offer of luggage service or any details on the hotel). During our stay we rang for additional towels (there was only two in the room which is fine) however they never appears after house keeping responded after 3 calls and indicated they would be coming (maybe the arrived after we departed). I went with a group of 18 for high tea. The food was delicious and plentiful. For $44 you get all the tea you can drink, more food than you can eat and a glass of bubbles. There was a pianist playing lovely music in the background. I will definitely be back.

The staff were helpful, room service was quick and although the room was at the top end of the price range it was worth every cent. The bathroom and facilities in my room were great and it was super close to the CBD which allowed me to walk everywhere and explore Auckland. Thank you Stamford Plaza for my pleasant experience!

Stayed at the Stamford for two nights on a recent business trip to Auckland. The hotel was nicely presented, however, a closer inspection shows that the place is dating and requires some money to be spent on it. The front staff, although polite, seemed as if checking in/out was an inconvinence to them. The room was adequately cleaned, although there was a pen on the floor, which highlights a lack of attention to detail. WiFi in the room was extremely poor, especially for a hotel servicing the... Decent size room, great bathroom with separate toilet. The bath is spacious and the shower had good pressure. The reception area look a bit tired but the room looked modern and refurbished. We stayed on the 9th floor and had a great view of the sun setting over the harbour bridge. We thought the bed was comfy. Good pillows and a nice duvet. The spa area is lovely. It was the first time I stayed in this hotel but I enjoyed it. The parking price was a little high but as it is valet parking that is ok when you stay a couple of days. The cheapest car parking is a block away so not worth to walk. The position is perfect and central and just next to the viaduct. The staff were very nice and helpful .

My sister and I stayed for 4 nights here. The room is small, with comfortable pillows and beds. We left the "no makeup room" card on the pillow the first morning so the staff don't need to make the beds, change the towels..etc. was surprised to find our garbage bins still full when we came back at night. It's fine not to change sheets and towels for a few days, but I can't stay in a room with garbage from previous day, so no more "green" practice for me anymore. I think the housekeeping standard... Having made multiple trips to Auckland over the past month I can honestly say this is the best of the hotels I stayed at (which included The Mecure, Langham and Citylife). The location is perfect, close to offices at the waterfront end of Queen St and the harbour. The rooms are modem and large with excellent large bathrooms (shower and bath). Amenities are great in the room. The gym is large and modern with loads of equipment, Indoor pool also looks very good. My only gripe is the breakfast a... Read more

I was here on business, and my company set me up in he Stamford. I am glad that they did. The room was nice, the bed comfortable, and spacious. The breakfast buffet was nice, and the staff very accommodating. The gym and pool were modern and well equipped. Right across the street was a place called food alley that I loved, I ate there virtually every night. The hotel is centrally located and was able to get to work, and to the ferry with ease. Stayed for 6 nights in total. On arrival to NZ, after a trip to the Bay of Islands and at the end of our 3 week trip to the South Island. Unfortunately we had pre-paid otherwise would have changed hotels. The rooms we had were ok but there were road works on the street below which started at 6 a.m. (Not the hotel's fault I know but they could have reduced the room price to compensate for this). We had a pleasant stay at this hotel over 3 days. Staff were friendly and efficient and the foyer and restaurants in the hotel were attractive. Auckland is, I'm sorry to say, a bit of a yawn compared to other places in New Zealand. But it's the big city, you gotta visit it. This hotel has a good location -- it seems central, I'm not really even sure what that means in Auckland, since I can't say what the "must-visits" really are. Was very happy with the room and hospitality of the staff whilst staying at the hotel. I would not however recommend booking through the hotels website as it is not the cheapest, even though they have a best price guarantee. This requires you to book through their website first then show proof of a lower price elsewhere then fill out a form to claim the difference.. Very sneaky and misleading.

Arrived late after a long flight, sorely disappointed by this dreadful excuse for a hotel. I would describe it as all fur coat and no knickers. It looks nice and doesn't offer much else. The room was overheated and almost impossible to cool down, it had very low ceilings and a very bizarre looking set of freestanding wardrobes which looked extremely cheap and out of place. We struggled to get to sleep and realised the bed had some enormous doubled over comforter as an under blanket with some k... Read more

The atmosphere at the Stamford Plaza is ok. The reception staff were warm and helpful at check in or whenever they were taking money. The facilities in the spa swim sauna and gym are great. The guestrooms make use of bold prints, dark wood, metal and reflective glass to create an uber masculine space that fits perfectly into the building and likely the people who mainly occupy them. They are not soundproof at all. after I requested a room change to a quieter room because the people next d... Read more

Stamford Plaza is an excellent hotel centrally situated in the heart of Auckland. Just a short walk to Queen Street shopping, New World Supermarket, good restaurants and bars all nearby. Central Transport at the Britomart also a short walk. Rooms very large, spacious and comfortable. Checkin and checkout was very quick and straightforward and staff very friendly and attentive. The buffet breakfast was very good and recommended.

Great hotel, well located but beware of the roadworks, Auckland is currently being rebuilt, demolition everywhere but you can still meander through the town. The hotel is quite charming with a large bar in the lobby area. The best champagne cocktail ever! Room was excellent, separate bath, shower and Wc very well laid out. Fortunately you cannot hear any outside noise. Very clean with great amenities. Enjoyed my stay and will be back, thank you

Initially impressive when you first walk in, rooms were ok and bathroom was nice and large with plenty of bench space. However the breakfast buffet was one of the worst I have encountered - everything was stone cold. Great place, awesome location! The Stamford plaza is a lovely hotel and well worth staying. Rooms are a little small but the facilities are really nice. The bar is a bit pricey however great location and lovely staff.

I visit Auckland often and have stayed in a lot of the hotels but The Stamford stands out as being one of the best. Rooms, bathrooms and halls are tidy and well maintained. Front reception team are also really on top of their game.
