I had an issue with my reservation and mistakenly booked a room in this hotel and town. When I got to the hotel, it turned out to be too far from Amsterdam city proper, which was the reason for my visit. When I got the hotel, they understood, cancelled my reservation without an issue. So I can only comment on the staff, property lobby, and its environs. The building was very clean, they have a lounge/bar on the first floor. They are located right by the water near a lot of small shopping, cobble... Read more

....was the response I got from an abrupt owner when I asked to speak about the broken bed in my room. The actual hotel is nice and as in the pictures, in the center of the very quirky town of Volendam, and over looking the water at the rear of this large complex. it features a small bistro style restaurant and bar at the front, and a large function room at the back. The double rooms are actually twin beds pushed together and quite comfortable. Although unfortunately when we returned late at ni... Read more

So we had a great lunch and a very nice place. Hotel / restaurant De Spaander in the front part is really nice old authentic, great difference from touristic hustle. The lunch was very tasty, all seven of us, had something different and everyone really like it. Definitely a recommendation.

We have been with my familiy (6 p.). There was a wedding in one of the meeting rooms and we should have been invited as we heard every little detail from our deluxe room. There is no proper isolation anywhere, as you hear when people where walking through the aisle, so there was no chance of a late wake up.

I do not travel often to Nederland, but this time, for a business trip, I have been in Volendam and discovered this very cozy hotel. On the sea, with a stunning view of the channel form the restaurant and the rooms, nice rooms (maybe small, with small bathroom, but "in style") old style lobby and reception. I also had an excellent dinner at the restaurant, chosing the daily menu, and a great breakfast in the morning. Parking the car is not easy, as the hotel is in the predestrian area, but publi... The restaurant is in a busy area and not always easy to reach due to parking times (ask them before you go there). We made reservations for a fathersday lunch. The restaurant is like a dark brown cafe with lots of paintngs. We ordered lunch and it was ok! Because we didn't want to spoil the day for my father we didn't say anything. Cod served without the remouladesaus, we asked for it. The fries were not crisp. One of the two waitresses was very friendly and nice the other one (annie schilder's ... Read more

Hotel is well designed, in every floor there is a different conceptual design and the corridors also has some old stylish furnitures. Also beds are very soft and comfortable. But I did not like the bathroom, it is very narrow and old decorated. View from balcony is very good. There is free car parking and wifi. Also there was not a water boiler in our room but when I asked to the reception, and thanks to them, they gave me a water boiler and also some tea and instant coffees and cups.

Great location in the heart of the old town and next to the shore. Room was big enough with nice wooden parquet floor. Parking is behind the hotel for a reduced daily fee (5 euros). Negatives included TV that was screwed to the wall in a position that made it almost impossible to watch from the bed. Shower was quite small with a plastic curtain and the whole floor got wet. Breakfast was not included, and price for it and an extra was much too high as well compared to room rate IMO. Our room d... Read more

This qaint hotel and restaurant houses lots of old Dutch art, all waals are covered. We had a nice fish lunch with friends who were over from Australia. Volemdam is typical Dutch and nice to visit for foreigners. We had the typical Dutch "Kibbeling" which is cod in pieces deep fried in batter, with a nice sauce and chips. All out on the terrace in the sunshine.

We were travelling with a group and stayed a night at the Spaander Hotel. This lovely hotel is right on the water overlooking the Marken Sea and right in the middle of the action in Volendam. Of course Volendam is a great place of interest for tourists because people can be seen in costume and you can have your choice of eel or other fresh fish right off the boat. The service and the accommodations at the Spaander were great. There are plenty of places to eat or shop just outside the back entra... Read more

we stayed here for 4 nights, the first 2 days we stayed in room 54 at the groundfloor, that was dark, noisy, and full of chlorine smell during all day and night, old bathroom with no shower box, the view of a garden painted on the wall outside the window looks like a joke. anyway the other 2 nights they finally move us, they gave us a room at the third floor, it was good, with new facilities ad with daylight passing through the windows. The question is, how long will they need customers complain... Read more

We stayed at Hotel Spaander while visiting Amsterdam, rather than staying in the city, and found it to be a good decision. This hotel was very reasonably priced, and a similar type of hotel in the city was about twice as expensive. From the outside the hotel looks quite cute, with typical painted exterior, and period features. On entering the interior follows this theme, with some really nice early 20th c art covering the walls, and a cute Dutch look. Our room was in the older part of the hotel,... Read more
