I was aware that this hotel was transformed from water tower and looked bit strange from car park (its free and convenient!) but when entered the whole scenario was so impressive with being of living in complete environmentally friendly! It is decorated with items ranging from plants to renovated items like old tea pots, grass mower etc. on display and that got us succumbed to feel so welcome. It is displayed everywhere across the hotel to my room! The staff are so friendly and takes any queries... Read more

One of the most unique and beautiful hotels I have ever stayed!! Every room is different and all are wonderful. I was in room 18 that I would highly recommend with great views and eclectic decor. My friend stayed in room 37 that was amazing with its own personal garden. I have stayed at several hotels in Dordrecht but if you are going to spend 1 night in Dordrecht you MUST stay here.

We stayed here for a family weekend. This hotel is located in an old water tower and has uniquely designed rooms as well as a restaurant and an herbal garden. The rooms are well equipped, however, every room is different. They could have invested a bit more in soundproofing the hotel. Our bathroom was tiny but sufficient. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast at the adjacent restaurant. All food was of high quality and well prepared. A good selection of wines as well. The first wine I picked didn... Read more

My business friend took me to this charming place for lunch and it was a really nice experience. This restaurant, located inside a hotel property in Dordrecht, sources must of its vegetables and ingredients from its own garden and you can tell the difference on the flavor of its salads and vegetables. Excellent choice when visiting this area.

This is a very special place! It has so much to offer with the grounds & restaurant. We would absolutely stay here again if in the area. We loved walking the grounds. You must check out the wall that surrounds the place. We stayed in room 11, which is on the 3rd floor. 11 is a very spacious room with a nice, spacious bathroom with a double sink, separate shower & tub. The shower had a 'to die for' rain shower head that had awesome pressure. Nothing like the reduced flow heads that are so commo... Read more

Converted pumping station which has retained its industrial roots/feeling. Loved the menu, which was diverse and original, as well as the shop and bakery, as you enter. Pretty gardens to wander around too. Definitely recommend a visit here.

We spent four nights comfortable nights at Villa Augustus. It is a little unusual and would not suit everyone. The staff are very welcoming and helpful, beds are comfortable, rooms are large, bathrooms well-equipped but there is a distinct lack of clothes storage and we had to leave most of our clothes in our suitcase - not very satisfactory. Rooms are furnished in what I would describe as "shabby chic" or similar with some emphasis on the first word. We had a super view of the waterways from ou... Read more

The restaurant was crowded, the terrace was in chaos: the couple before us were sent to the same small table like our selves. The first drink arrived after 20 minutes. We should have left but didn't. Wine supposed to go with starters was not served in time. Main course fish had not been cleaned well and 50% was not eatible. Management politely did not charge and offered coffee on my half empty stomach. Thank you. We were seated at the rear side end of the terrace. The waiter could not help it;... Read more

The staff were friendly and welcoming. Room decor was interesting and bed comfortable. More cupboard space would have been great. Our room opened onto the garden between the bedrooms and restaurant building and we could drink coffee out there while admiring the flowers. A room higher up with a view of the waterways would have been better. Had dinner in the restaurant the first night but found better value in various Dortrecht squares thereafter. The whole property has wonderful photo opportuniti... Read more

We stayed in one of the garden rooms and ate in the restaurant. It was all fantastic, great service and beautiful food. Our children really enjoyed the garden. The whole place is very quirky and great if you want something a little different.

So pleased to have experienced this wonderful hotel! Dedication to their garden reflects through to the restaurant and hotel. Quirky, yes! Wonderful architecture, yes! Great service, yes! Refreshing concept! No leather headboards! Briliant! Great experience!

We went here for a late lunch. The food was very good, the staff is nice. The service could be better, We met at least 5/6 different waiters. I had a goat cheese salad, very good and the lamb also very good. The place looks good with an open kitchen and a they have a store as well to buy fresh bread, cake etc..

We were in Dordrecht for one night only for a friends' birthday party and were very impressed upon first sight of Villa Augustus. We booked The Lantern Room which is on the top floor and has a spiral staircase leading to a glass tower with 360 degree view of the town. The rooms themselves are not quite luxurious but the venue is so fun you don't seem to notice too much. Our room wasn't quite ready upon check-in but the staff realised we were in a rush and got it cleaned in impressive time. The... Read more

Villa Augustus was to be the final highlight of this trip to the Netherlands. Unfortunately when we arrived the Hotel staff informed us they would be having a "small" party for all former and current staff which would be as quiet as possible. The reality was like trying to sleep next to a nightclub until the music stopped just before midnight. What disappointed was the lack of communication or understanding on how this would impact their guests. If we had know earlier we would have booked to a... Read more

A most unusual hotel but fabulous. Home grown fruit and veg at meals. Wonderfully fresh tasting food. The vegetable tagliatelle is delicious. The rooms are large, the beds just right and the position and views are superb. I'll come here again.

Only 15 minutes on the metro from Blaak, Dordrecht is a must visit while staying in Rotterdam. We found out too late you can also get there by water bus, which takes about an hour. One of the oldest towns in The Netherlands with many intact and well restored buildings, Dordrecht is well worthwhile - spend 2-3 hours just walking around and grab the hard to find canal boat tour too. Then, for lunch, go to Villa Augustus! Now a hotel and restaurant, it was originally a old brick water tower and p... Read more

The largely unrenovated buildings and market garden style concept of this hotel is an absolute inspiration. I suspect the owners of the hotel took a huge risk with the "unfinished" concept that pervades it. However, it really works and is really quite refreshing compared to the cold, stark architecture of many new hotels. The service of the staff probably plays second to the hotel and the restaurant but it's not bad. Would definitely visit again.

Kitchen, restaurant, bakery, shop, hotel, garden, everything is mostly worth visiting. If I've lived here, I should be there every week! Dordrecht is an old cute little city to visit. Nearby walking or take the bus. Line 10.

If you love new use of old buildings this destination is for you. We loved the comfortable room with high ceilings, big windows with wonderful views, comfy bed and great big bathroom with a tub large enough to soak in for hours! The old wooden frame windows can rattle with high winds on stormy days, but it was just part of experiencing this old water tower. The hotel is walking distance to the beautiful historic center of town. The grounds are lovingly kept and a delight to just walk around or... Read more

The gardens are a joy to walk through. Besides flowers, they grow their own vegetables for the restaurant. There is a charge for breakfast and there is a very hearty layout of fresh food. We like to sit in the far corner table by the windows to watch the ducks in the canal. Every room is decorated differently. We stayed in room 4, comfortable and very spacious overlooking the front gardens and canal. It is a bit of a walk to town, several blocks, but it is such a charming walk, we enjoyed it. Re... A group reservation taking a good number of rooms resulted in a great experience to all participants to our meeting. Visitors from South Africa, New Zealand, Korea, China, India, Denmark, Brasil, Mexico and the US all were uniform in their messages and found this an experience not to be missed when visiting this part of the Netherlands. Rooms are spacious, atmosphere very authentic and nice setting. The restaurant offers great breakfast buffet and for dinner nice local dishes.
