Just back from a fantastic weekend at the Doelen. It's a lovely boutique hotel and the staff are superb. We were celebrating a birthday and the guest relations team arranged a treat in our room to make our stay even more special. The room was lovely, the breakfasts overlooking the canal were fantastic and the location was ideal for exploring Amsterdam. I would definitely stay there again.

This is a lovely hotel - now. And the staff are very friendly - now. In fact it was once the equivalent of a police station where Rembrandt painted 'The Night Watch'. It is the oldest hotel in town. Beware of spooks. Great central position. If you want to walk from Central Station it is about half an hour through a highly cosmopolitan bustle. Nice room and lovely dining area overlooking a canal.

We had such a good trip to Amsterdam and it started even before we arrived at the hotel. I arranged with the guest relations manager a special treat for my partner and the hotel staff went above and beyond to deliver. The hotel has had a gorgeous new fit out and the attention to detail is fantastic. Being an architect it was nice to see that they had spent the time on the finer details. The room was spectacular! It was clean and well fitted out. The location was perfect and the staff went out ... Read more

As the first stay, second was good. Staff - polite and attentive. Room-cozy and clean. Only faucet was a little leaky (in the shower). Breakfast- diverse and delicious. You do the great job and it's pleasure to stay here.

My wife and I spent 5 memorable nights at the NH Doelen. We loved the location, walking distance to the town center, flower market, and the fabulous Amsterdam Museums. We prefer smallish boutique hotels, and this one fit our preference perfectly. It has the charm of the oldest hotel in Amsterdam, but offers modern amenities as it has been recently renovated. We chose to pay a higher price for an upper floor room with a canal view, and it was definitely worth it. The Hotel's restaurant offers an... Read more

We spent two nights at the hotel and found it to be in an excellent location in old town. The staff were very friendly, pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was great with various options from the buffet or cooked to order by the chef. Beautiful room, only thing that we could criticize was that the hand basin was in the bedroom not in the shower room/toilet. It did not spoil our stay though and some people may find it helpful when getting ready.

Is this realy a five star hotel. The room was too small. No gym or spa. Breakfast was realy good. The whole style a bit outdated. Nothing wrong in hotel, but also nothing inspiring! Stayed here for Hotelnight!

The Doelen is at the heart of Amsterdam. We were told that this was the first hotel to operate in the city and though we could see its age in some of the woodwork this was not the case in much of the hotel. The bedrooms and bathrooms were completely modern, clean, and beautiful. The Swych Restaurant overlooks the canal and serves a fantastic breakfast. Pay the added upgrade fee to include breakfast in your stay. It's worth it. The Doelen is a beautiful hotel but where it shines brightest is the... Read more
