I've stayed at this NH hotel Carlton several times - also in some other NH hotels in Amsterdam but keep on going to this hotel. The location is great - close by the Flower Market and shopping street Kalverstraat as well as DAM square. If you wish to go further, you can take a tram or metro - the transportaion links are excellent. This hotel is really value for money - not a luxurious hotel but good. The breakfast costs 19,80‚?¨/person (situation Jan. 2017). It was ok, however, there were hardl... Read more

I booked this hotel for 3 nights from boxing day as a surprise for my partners birthday, I was hesitant due to the negative comments I had seen before arriving however we never had any issues. Staff were very polite when checking in and out. The room was clean and the location of the hotel was perfect, overall no complaints at all and would definitely stay here again if I were to ever visit again

Great location Needs remodel which is going to happen this year We had 2 rooms 6th and 7th floor with terraces. Both great views. The suite was a comfortable size with nice bathroom. The room was small. New Years Eve prices were a bit high for the quality. Amsterdam is a unique wonderfull place

Having seen some poor reviews of the hotel's cleanliness, I was surprised at how clean the room's actually were. The room was also spacious and offered basic ammenities, including a trouser press, but sadly no iron. The view from our room (we stayed in a standard room with view and terrace) didn't overlook much but we could see the canal and the nearby Amsterdam skyline, which was nice. The hotel itself was in a brilliant location, near to many nice resturauns (including the hotel's own burg... Read more

Great location, pretty much central to everything! Very friendly and efficient early check in. Rooms are very dated, with poor sound proofing, but the bed was fantastic (I'm a poor sleeper and I slept very sound!) and also fantastic curtains blocking out all light! For the location and beds, I definitely overlook the dated room and would recommend.

Basic but clean and in a very good location for the main sights of Amsterdam with nothing being much more than 20 - 25mins walk away....Rooms starting to look tired now even though we upgraded and on arrival. Ask for room at rear of Hotel also as there are a couple of noisy bars over the road

The only thing that this hotel has going for it is its location- it really is situated close to everything (right next to the Amsterdam flower market) and you can walk most places with no hassle. The lobby gives the appearance of airs and graces, and that's where it stops. Check in takes forever, there's no assistance with luggage (and only one luggage cart you can try and commandeer). We received our ONE card (for two of us) which, when we got to our room, didnt work. After numerous trips to r... Read more

The rooms were lovely, but it was the worst service I have ever had from any hotel I have ever stayed in. Whether I was just unlucky or not, their motto is we treat our guests like we would like to be treated ourselves, well believe me, they must have a low opinion of themselves if they want to be treated the way we were. I have never had such incompetent service checking into a hotel. All the paperwork had been completed early in the day and when I gave our names at the desk firstly the conci... Read more

First of all let me say the location of the hotel is perfect, where everything seemed a maximum of 20 mins walk away. The staff are generally help and very polite. Those are the good points. Where it fell down was 1) The bar wasn't staffed very well, it took 20 mins to get served and then he disappeared again and we had to leave (as a taxi was booked) which meant we couldn't sign for the drinks, although they were charged to our room. The bar is in the lobby area and very cold in January! 2... Read more
