This location is close to the Albert Cuyp Markt. However, other NH hotel locations are more central. This hotel also needed updating. The corridors had a musty and dusty smell. The concierge however were very friendly and helpful.

Very nice hotel. Large, clean, modern rooms. Very convenient for getting to the Rijks Museum. Bit of a shame the canal was being dredged just outside the hotel from 7am to 7pm every day. This is obviously not the hotel's fault, but they could have advised when we booked that this was likely to happen. The staff were apologetic about this and didn't charge for breakfast to make up for it, though actually the sound proofing in the room meant we hardly noticed the noise anyway. I arrived late at the hotel and asked 'nicely' for a really quiet room away from the road and up high. After a bit of searching the receptionist gave me what he promised was the quietest room (608 in case you ask) and he was right. Really nice large room overlooking the inner courtyard which is nothing to see but very quiet, I was able to have the window open (rather than the air con) and was not disturbed by other guests or outside noise. This is my second stay at the NH Amsterdam Museum Quarter Hotel. My husband and I with friends stayed there in early April, 2015. That was a positive experience as we stayed in a corner 7th floor room as requested. The views are great and so was the buffet breakfast included. This time my husband booked through Expedia and got a superior king bed room with breakfast. We were put on the fourth floor when we requested our previous room on the seventh. This hotel is in the museum quarter of the city and is a short work to the world famous Rijksmuseum. Our room overlooked the canal and being on the top floor it had great windows and was roomy. The fittings worked well and the staff were efficient. Breakfast was OK but a bit on the expensive side for what you got.

Stayed here four nights when attending a conference at the RAI conference centre. Was quite happy with the location; just a 20-25 min walk to RAI (2 km), tram no 4 going from RAI to the city centre, and a 17 min walk (1,5 km) from the city centre and back to the hotel in the evening. Only 400 m from the Rijksmuseum and several restaurants nearby. The room, breakfast and staff was all nice. I liked that the start screen on the TV was not a list of channels, rather a fireplace film. Charming!

Hotel was conveniently located and very pleasant. The bar and mini bar prices were very reasonable. The room was large and good light from large windows. There was air-con too - always a bonus. The breakfast had a limited choice and only one coffee machine so everyone was queuing up to get a coffee. The breakfast area is only small. The staff were very helpful and friendly. They recommended a very nice restaurant not too far away from the hotel. I had a very pleasant stay

We wanted to visit the Vincent Van Gogh and the Rijks Museums in Amsterdam whilst there for 3 nights prior to our return to Bali, Indonesia. This hotel was recommended for it's walking proximity to both museums. It was only a short walk to both, maximizing our time in both these fantastic museums. I have stayed in this hotel twice now as it was a great location and good budget hotel for a city break. The bus from the airport drops you off near the hotel about 10 mins walk which is so much cheaper than a taxi. The hotel is near the van gough museum and surrounded by restaurants Hard Rock Cafe near too. There is a park not long away and in the summer it's lovely.

We stayed three nights and our room was large and bright. However, the carpet was very thin and a bit worn looking. There was also dust under the bed which seemed very poor since the bed was on wheels. The canal view was very disappointing given that the canal is currently being dredged in order for an underground (underwater) car park to be constructed. Fortunately, it wasn't noisy but the unaesthetic view was of construction equipemnt and dredges. I know this is not the fault of the hotel but ... Read more

Opened the door to worn, stained orange carpet to two of the narrowest "twin" beds I've ever seen. (I'm a tiny person and I nearly fell out twice) The room faces the canal, which would have been lovely except for the loud construction project (never mentioned in the pre book). The alleged AC was noise and no air. Linen quality was average. Upside, room and bathroom very big. I cannot figure out all the great reviews here. Perhaps other rooms have been upgraded. Upside was very nice staff.

Located in the museum quarter and within easy walking distance of the Rijks, MOCO,Stedelijk and Van Gogh museums/galleries the hotel was ideally placed to visit these attractions and still be within easy reach of the Old Town. The staff were extremely helpful (as per usual for nh hotels), room was clean with floor to ceiling windows providing beautiful views over the surrounding City. Close to a wide variety of restaurants in and around Albert Cuypstraat - alocation we would highly recommend and... Read more

We found the hotel comfortable and clean, located just a few blocks from the museums and tram/metro stations. The room was specious, good bed and clean bathroom, coffee and tea making facilities were in the room.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel, I just wish it were closer to downtown and less construction going on outside. But it is located very close to the tram stop and I did enjoy that. I would definitely stay there again.

Well I spent my birthday here!!! Boring!! I was treated rude in the morning by the lady who was in the area where the breakfast was being served. She shoved the receipt in my face while I was eating. The attendants kept knocking to check my room to see if I had eating anything! Cheap stay I guess Cheap service. Not everyone was rude!

This is a great area for submerging yourself in the arts and culture. The whole area is easily accessible. Bike, foot, bus and the great tram system. You can buy tickets online so you can beat the queues. Lovely park area outside to relax in and plenty of buskers playing classical music to sooth you into a day of soaking up the cultural vibe... Great location for museum quarter and quieter that the centre of Amsterdam. Prepare to walk though! Canal works which will be ongoing for months - building an undercanal car park - spoilt the view and were noisy, Bathroom mouldy tiles and cracked sink. Shown alternative rooms that were as bad so stayed put. Bar very expensive - 15euro for a pint of Lager and a g&t. Breakfast great selection.

We stayed here on a stag weekend, the hotel is in a decent location only a short taxi ride or even walk to the town center. The rooms was really spacious and modern. Couldn't fault this hotel and staff was all friendly and couldn't do enough for you.

The location of the hotel was great. Close enough to a lot of museums that you could walk to them, and many of the attractions that may be a bit far for walking were only one tram ride away. The staff were fantastic in helping us figure out the tram system. They even sold up 48 hour tram passes so we wouldn't have to figure out where/how to do that. We were also able to store our luggage for as long as we needed the day we checked out which made our day so much easier.

Clean, big and nicely furnished and spacious rooms. Comfortable beds. Staff were wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was awesome with great selections of hot and cold dishes. This hotel is centrally located and is within 5 - 10 minutes walking distance to some great restaurant and museums. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

A very lovely hotel in the Museum Quarter. Easy transport to Dam Square. Rooms are quiet, well appointed and clean. Lots of construction in Amsterdam no matter where you are. Walk to Rijk museum Van Gogh museum etc. Beware of the bicycles...if you hear a bell run like hell!!

The location is reasonable however it is not city center, and you need to walk quite a bit. The level of cleanness was rather poor, especially in my room. Also there was a construction near by in the tunnel, which makes a lot of noise, especially during the day. Which made it uncomfortable especially since I specifically asked the team in the lobby about the construction near by and they told me, that there is absolutely no noise. And last thing, was the bed, the mattress there is very soft, a... Read more

The front desk staff was very helpful and kind. We walked a block and a half from the tram and there it was. Glad it was easy to find as we were walking with my eighty year old in-laws, dragging roller boards. I asked for the upstairs rooms with the big windows and we were offered the upgrade for no extra charge. Very nice. No construction noise but it was the weekend. My husband and I booked into this hotel for three nights in October. We were given a top floor room which had floor to ceiling windows along a whole wall, with a view into the courtyard. Even though the room was a bit old fashioned, with a dirty, spotty carpet, the room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The halls of this hotel leave a lot to be desired and need an immediate upgrade, but our room was very nice. Not sure what it would have been like to stay on the lower floors. Ask for an in... Fantastic location if you are interested in the museums. Staff was friendly, but ineffective. We had a problem with the toilet not flushing well. When we let the desk know, they expressed that that was not acceptable and said they would get it fixed right away. When we came back hours later, we had a note that said they could not fix it and someone would fix it "tomorrow." What? We were left in a room overnight with a toilet that didn't work right? Terrible. The carpet was filthy and the... Read more

Stayed 3 nights. Good room and breakfast. We dined elsewhere. The area on the other side of the canal has a range of restaurants and shops. Close to the main museums, within a reasonable walking distance of the centre of town and with tram stop 150 metres away. A good base for a tourist.

Good hotel in a great location right in the middle of the museum district. We were 10 minutes walk from local attrctions, and no more than 20 minutes walking to everything else. The hotel is close to public transit, and central to sevaral shopping districts. My only complaint is that the room has no dressers. There are no drawers for clothes so we had to leave our suitcases open on the desk to get access to folded clothes. Very inconvenient, and meant we couldn't actually use the desk.

I realize that best things are made by small details. Due my job I always analize my colleagues when I go to restaurants and hotels. I have to recommend this hotel just because when you wake up and go downstairs for breakfast, Joanna is there to ask you the room number with a smile. The hotel is near the Museumplein, some good restaurants and the tram stop. The river in front of the hotel is also a charm. The space of the room is enough for the couple, the bed is good and there isn´t noise. I think the breakfast could improve the experience.

Only about two blocks from the Van Gogh museum. However, this puts you quite a hike from central Amsterdam. Overall the hotel seems worn and in need of some sprucing up. NH Museum Quarter is a bit off, but OK for convenience to Museums and other attractions. The room upgrade to a glass walled "penthouse" seemed great till we discovered there were no drawers to put clothes. Front desk said it was the design but they would send extra hangers. The windows were dirty but when the light is right, the view is very good. Sadly there is a long term construction project on the canal below, so it's not a romantic view, exactly. The room was dirty, lots of mold in the bathroom, carpets stained and filth around the walls. Many complaints made, nothing done the three days there. The staff was not extremely helpful. One day we had one towel and asked for more. Much later I found the staff up the hall with an arm full of towels. She was given the wrong room. At least they gave us a round of drinks at the bar. Odd that people are complaining this hotel is out of the centre; a map shows it's exact location and that was why we chose it. I had a good stay here. The room is quite large and there is a nice bathtub. The breakfast is good and had a lot of options (two different kinds of eggs, bacon, cakes, different breads and cereals, lots of fresh fruit, yogurt). It is close to the tram line (just around the corner). Wifi is free and worked well. The staff is friendly. The only quibble I would have is the décor could use an update, the brown carpet detracted from the overall look and feel of the hotel.
