I selected this hotel because of its positive rumour and perfect location. The start was though not good. A very inexperienced receptionist kept me waiting 15 minutes while showing some people (not guests at the hotel) the map by midnight. Then she could not give me any room (I had prepaid my reserved room) as the system broke down. It took totally 75 minutes to get the room which I could enter 01.15am. But, I was nicely compensated by late check-out and complimentary breakfast and a bigger room... Read more

Comfortable rooms and excellent service. this is exactly what you may expect when you book there. The hotel has been refurbished and every comfort is really there. As soon as you step out you're in Amsterdam city centre. so every place is at walking distance. the concierge is really supportive and help you out whatever you fancy to go. Free internet available is the icing on the cake.

Enjoyed our stay. Rooms are nice but I prefer carpet to timber floors. Pillows are very soft but the bed was too hard. Breakfast in the Winter Garden is a highlight. Ground floor lounges are very lovely and the new décor is very modern. The food in the downstairs restaurant is okay but not great and the service is slow.

The newly renovated large apartment style rooms are perfect. The wood flooring. The terrace (if you pick a room with one). The bed is comfy and large. The room is large for European standards; you'll still have space to walk and lounge about with your suitcases on the floor. The bathroom is spacious and the room we had only had a walk in shower. Maybe other rooms have bathtubs? The TV is big and the channels not so special but then again you won't have time to watch tv if you're in this city. T... Read more

We booked this hotel last minute, we didn't spend a huge amount of time in the hotel itself but it was exactly where we wanted to be and so easy to get anywhere from! Checking in however, took longer than you'd reasonably expect, but made easier by the fact that you are able to check in even if the room isn't ready, and are able to leave luggage with the concierge. The layout of the hotel is really confusing and the location of our room was probably several hundred feet away from the lobby and ... Read more

We booked a family room for 3 of us to stay 2 nights. The room was beautiful and very spacious. Lovely bathroom, nice seating area and huge beds. The only negative thing I can say about this hotel is how long it takes to check in. Check in was 3pm and we got there at 3.10pm after spending the day at museums and exploring around. Our room wasn't ready and we were told we'd have to wait 10mins. After 10 mins we were told another 10mins, then 30mins and then 45mins. It was absolutely ridiculous an... Read more

The Krasnapolsky is one of Amsterdam's old commercial hotels trying to make it in the 21st century. Beautifully located, right on Dam Square, facing the royal palace, the place has been modernized and the rooms are well appointed. They will not disappoint. And while the Winter Garden is still spectacular (thankfully they left that alone) the lobby is relatively charmless. However, this place wins my affection because the staff is fantastic. Beautiful decor, gorgeous winter garden for cocktails and very helpful staff. The location is central to everything. It looks over dam square which is lovely in the day and full of fun at night. It has a gorgeous tea room filled with amazing cakes. We arrived in Amsterdam at 9am in the morning our room wasn't ready so we checked in and went out leaving our luggage there. When we came back at 3pm we got our room which was a superior triple room at the back of the hotel on the 2nd floor. The room was spacious and the bathroom was clean with a bath and a shower. We did get some noise from the bins in the alley alone but the double glazing blocked most of that. Air conditioning was very good. The breakfast at this hotel is superb. They have ev... Read more

Speedy and polite check in, upgraded to a room with balcony no problem. The room was large and modern in its decor. However if it was done at the same time the hotel was remodelled then it won't wear well. The wood effect floors were worn and dirty looking, and the balcony could have done with a power wash. However the bed was comfy, the bathroom excellent (especially the shower) Full tea and nespresso in the room was welcome. The breakfast was set in the magnificent garden room. However alth... These apartments are great. They put you right on the Oudezijds Voorburgwal canal, watching the whole world go by. In spite of no double glazing, they weren't unbearably noisy. The delivery to the shop below woke me up some mornings though. Our room was very comfortable and of a high standard with an amazing shower, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the location is excellent. I would recommend both city and the hotel to anyone.

My husband and I stayed here whilst at a conference. Very pleasant stay - the old buildings have been done up well with inviting foyer/bar etc. Rooms with comfy firm bed, reasonable lighting and good wifi. Bathroom modern with some design flaws - too many doors, door to toilet didn't close properly and auto toilet flush meant you woke your partner up if you needed to get up during the night! Lifts slow at peak times and quite a lot of street noise during the night. Central location. Would proba... Read more

I recently had the opportunity to stay at this amazing property for the second time. The first time was such a great experience that I was eager to return. The location is perfect, the larger suites are stunning, and the staff is impeccable. Unfortunately my second experience was not up to the standard that made me want to return. Because of a small fire at the hotel I had stayed in the night before in Germany, I had gotten no sleep and arrived at the Krasnopolsky at 9:00 am on a Sunday morning... Read more

The check in was smooth and pleasant but the room was hot and try as much as we did it could not be cooled down without opening the window. One of the bath towels had a hole in it and the interior designer of the bathroom must have spent to much time in the nearby coffee shops. The soap dish in the shower was too close to the shower head and permanently awash, there was no place to put anything around the basin and you had to stretch around the shower door to try and grab your towel. Excellent location and lovely room. I had e mailed prior to our stay as we were celebrating our engagement. We were given a room upgrade to a premium room but the rose petals etc... as discussed vid e mail were not provided. Nonetheless, the room was spacious with a huge and very comfortable double bed. The bathroom was modern with a walk in shower. We had no disturbance from noise and our room looked onto the bar courtyard area. We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel as we prefer to get out and a... This hotel is very conveniently located in the square. We were able to walk to restaurants, shops, canals, etc. The room was large and very clean. There was no transfer from the airport to the hotel, which was a disappointment as we had to pay for a shuttle. There was also no breakfast included. I thought the hotel's advantage was its location. The price was a bit high but then I may have different standards regarding European hotels. We also had a view of a roof, no city view.

A very old hotel, this one has been recently updated -- from common areas to rooms and is now very modern and comfortable. Given its location in the very center of the old city and adjacent to the Red Light District makes it an ideal destination for meetings or touring. Rooms are located in several different blocks, and I prefer the rooms directly above the lobby. The new lobby bar is one of the best atmospheres, with great hand made cocktails, in the city. My only negative was that I was in... Read more

we stayed here on a week end break away, the staff were very friendly on arrival and very helpful and efficient. The location is very central and it is a short walk from the main train station. The room was very spacious, clean, modern. unfortunately it was on the street side of the hotel and although the window had fantastic views over Amsterdam they were not double glazed and it was very noisy, and Amsterdam does not sleep until gone 0400. Nice hotel, wonderful staff but the rooms are very cold, I know it's November but we had a vent blowing cold air into our room, it occasionally blew warm air but this seemed to be at the discretion of the hotel and I had no control over it!

Lovely room, great bathroom, charming and helpful staff, very central, quiet at night BUT Due to a massive conference, the place was overwhelmed. Our breakfast, second day was spoilt by our relocation to the cramped Opal Room, with no space between tables to walk or move a chair, as the conference took over the lovely room used for breakfast on the first day. Felt like 2nd class guests!

We have just arrived home after staying at the NH Krasnapolsky for 3 nights. One word to describe our stay - AMAZING! As it was my birthday we were upgraded on arrival to a premium room. The lady who checked us in was so lovely. I noticed she was a trainee and at first thought it would take ages but it took all of 10 minutes, if that! The room was spotlessly clean with a huge, comfortable bed and lovely bathroom with a big walk-in shower. We overlooked one of the main streets (room 4138 on 4th f... Read more

This hotel has been refurbished and upgraded since my last visit and review. The overall décor is minimalistic and pleasing to the eye but I do acknowledge some people find such settings cold and impersonal. We stayed at the hotel for two nights before boarding a cruise ship. We stayed here for four nights in a room that looked out on the Dam square. The first night (Saturday) a dance club played loud music until 2:30 am, so I did not get to sleep until 3:00am. I felt the room was not comfortable or cozy, the lights were confusing and paneled/swiveling doors between the bedroom and the bathroom were unnecessary. It is centrally located and that is the biggest plus. The maids were fast and efficient, but no special care went into cleaning the room. The breakfast was ... Read more

The room was renovated and was very big and quit. In a nutshell, very recommended hotel, that is located minutes of walk from every major attraction. Will definitely come back.

Every year my wife and I come to Amsterdam and stay at the Grand Krasnapolsky Hotel. Over the years they have been updating the the hotel to bring it up to 5 star standards. This year the hotel is finished restoring the property and it lives up to its 5 star status. The Lobby is gorgeous, the restaurants and bars are top notch and you feel very safe staying here. Only things: it seems that they have two types of rooms: ours had no view and was really really small.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. Centrally located, the major attractions were walking distance. However, it has some serious issues: a) Staff: Not the politest people in the world. When you visit a place of this price range, you expect people who are friendlier and more welcoming. This simply was not the case; b) Noisy room: This was seriously an issue: from the constant banging from all the surrounding rooms to the work being down right below. Noise is inevitable, but th... Hotel is in great location, on Dam Square. Some rooms look out onto the square and although mine didn't I still heard some noise in the night. The room didn't hold its temperature very well, and it always got hotter during the night (Since it was November I assume the AC was off, so cooling the room was diffciult). Small room for the cost but clean and good mattress. Hotel was well-staffed. Great breakfast.

Perfectly located by the Dam Square area where you are surrounded by restaurants and shopping , walking distance to canal cruise. Food around is a bit expensive , soda is very small unless you buy a big cola which is about 5 euro ,water and soda are mostly the same price.

This hotel has earned its 5 stars well. It is obviously in the best location if you want to be in the centre of the Dam! It is huge and stunning - inside & out.
