Good stay at the smart and elegant Okura. It probably deserves four and a half stars as the entrance is rather stark and lacks a comfortable area to sit but the fact that the omelettes are brought to your table in the morning rather than having to lurk in expectation just gets it over the line. Of course the breakfast like everything else here doesn't' come cheap. Bizarrely there was a zoo outside my window so the peacocks were pretty loud. I rather liked it but others might not. Stayed 2 nights for a conference. Excellent hotel. Great service. Light and spacious. Facilities great. Rooms modern. Nice top floor bar for a drink. I had some high expectations for this hotel. Well, it did not go that way. Location is quite nice. You can walk to the city center. We had a car and the do provide parking facilities of a good standard. However, it costs a lot. The room we had was nice but stained towels and sheets do not match with five stars. Not with any stars in principal. I wanted to have sheets changed next day. They were not changed. The same stains were still there!!! This hotel accommodates big groups and that is wh... Read more

Nice hotel but not courteous and friendly staff. We didn't felt any warmth in the hotel. Great location though everything was nearby. You could just walk for those farmers market. Food was good. Reception,,,friendly, competent, professional, helpful. This is a Japanese hotel themed as such. Foyer is unimaginative. Many restaurants, some Japanese, but other choices available. A magnificent restaurant facing the canal. Very special to sit in comfortable lounge chairs under the trees on the Terrace overlooking the canal sipping a delicious cocktail, or cup of Earl Grey. I spent four nights in this hotel with my husband and our children of 9 and 11 years. We stayed in 2 superior rooms with a connected door on 14th floor from where the city view was beautiful. One of the rooms had windows on two sides so we had a 180°view! Booked Hotel Okura as a late gateway for my boyfriends birthday. Been to Amsterdam plenty of times so we know our way round very well. Gorgeous hotel however constantly felt judged as a young couple and the fact that we were in casual clothes (jeans etc) rather than being suited and booted each day. For the price that we paid we would expect a bit more respect than what we received. Loads of things to do around, we booked a boat from the day just behind the hotel and went around the canals whi... Read more

The housekeeping service was very good (leave a small tip, $2/night left each morning was very much appreciated) The concierge service was excellent; very helpful and their English (among the several they all spoke) was much better than my Dutch. Elegant hotel, pleasant gracious reception staff, wonderful breakfast, spacious well appointed room on 11th floor with great view of canal below. This is a very good hotel with all the amenities. The staff is great. The location is away from the tourist area of Amsterdam, but a short tram ride gets you to the Rijksmuseum and canals. The hotel has a warm feeling with wood paneling throughout. A drink on the canal provides a view of the Dutch enjoying their waterways. But the delightful Japanese dining is the highlight. The Teppenyaki was a culinary experience the equal of the finest offerings in London or New York; and value for money in euros. We were booked into the Okura by Viking as a river cruise extension. Very posh hotel, rated 5 stars for Amsterdam. We had an unbelievable corner room - huge with views in two directions over the city. Bathroom was equally impressive with both a hand-held shower and an overhead rain shower. This is not a budget hotel and the restaurants (which we did not visit) are reported to be excellent but extremely expensive.

This is a wonderful hotel for visitors who want a luxurious experience. The hotel staff is gracious. Since the staff realized it was my son's birthday, he was greeted by a beautiful gift and an unbelievable rich dark chocolate embossed cake and a card. Okura is a hotel that has good facilities (restaurants, bars, location on the canal, pool) and excellent service. It well deserves its 5 stars. Had a late lunch at the terrace. I asked for medium well burger and got rare! Ribeye is cheaper than the Wagyu burger but it didn't taste so good. The chef's charcuterie platter wasn't the best selection of meats. Overall, not very impressed with quality of food.

Visited with my wife in October, all the staff were very helpful especially the security team. My wife forgot her jewelry in the safe and only noticed in the airport, we called the hotel immediately and within 10 min they had the jewelry with them and had organized for it to be sent to us. One disappointment was the executive lounge, the food offering is extremely limited and what ever we tried was deep fried and greasy. This is the only point I believe the F&B team should review.

After 8 days on the Rhine, we unwound for two days in Amsterdam staying at the Okura Hotel. We had a corner room on an upper floor and the view of the canals and the city was fantastic. The room was immaculate. Had one evening meal in one of the restaurants and it was very good. The breakfast buffet was excellent.

I was surprised one weekend with a romantic weekend away. Taken to Amsterdam and was lucky enough to stay in this hotel. It's not in the centre but to be honest that's a plus in my eyes. We got to see how the locals live plus we used the trams to get into the centre so it was no hardship. The hotel staff are exceptional and the concierge helped massively with local trips and tickets for all the touristy things we needed. The hotel itself was very modern with several restaurants, catering for... Read more

On the way to Barcelona, my gf and I decided to stay 2 nights in Amsterdam. We usually prefer quiet and calm neighborhoods. We love walking to explore the city. Okura is in a lovely neighborhood, it took us 20 minutes to walk from the hotel to the Van Gogh museum. Tram station is only 4 minutes walking distance to the hotel. It is a standard 5 star hotel with Japanese touch. We expected more about the roof top bar, but it disappointed us. On the other hand the bar at the lobby floor has very ni... Read more

This hotel is not in the heart of Amsterdam, it's kind of on the outskirts but still a walkable distance to the bustle of everything. It was very accommodating and comfortable, I took a bath and the water valve had a guard on it so the water wouldn't get too hot, the hotel Immediately sent someone up to fix it which was awesome since all I wanted to do after a 15 hour flight was take a bath!

Does it go any higher in Amsterdam? Both food and hotel experience are great, hospitality and service doesn't go any higher. For me the Okura is one of the best hotels I have ever been. Not only because of it's services but in the total package, it's not over the top, it's just a great treatment.

The hotel is situated in a quiet neighbourhood and is a 10 minute tram ride to the centre of Amsterdam. The room was very spacious and the service was really good. The hotel has some good restaurants. But if you wish to eat outside, there are some restaurants nearby. The staff at the hotel is very helpful and gave good advice on what and what not to do in the city. Recommended for anyone looking to explore Amsterdam and wants to relax at the same time.

This undoubtedly could be a fine place to stay in Amsterdam - unfortunately my experience was disappointing. One evening there was a lot on noise from the corridor, coming from 3 bodyguards with covert earpiece headsets 'looking after' a luxury suite at the end of the corridor.
