This hotel was a big disappointment, although the location was fine the actual building was in need of renovation. Imagine our surprise on arrival to be directed to the garden shed which was our accomadation, I could not describe it as a room as the decor resembled a turn of the century poor house complete with miniature shower room. How this shower room was at freezing point when the rest of the hotel indeed Amsterdam was quite warm is a scientific mystery. We could not get fresh air by opening... Read more

I had a very small room with windows-on-the-top, located on 3rd floor. No elevator, wifi worked just fine, except for a few hours in the morning. Hotel staff was helpful and friendly. Cannot rate the breakfast, cause I didn't buy it.

I paid ‚?¨230 euros to stay in a room the size of a broom cupboard and share a bathroom. Unfortunately I didn't book the business trip and so was unaware of the shared bathroom until I arrived. The bathroom was dirty with mould growing on the grout. The room was so small I could barely open my suitcase, despite the bed being a single. I could hear the man in the next room breathing at night as the walls were so thin. I was on the top floor without a lift and there was no mention of assistance in... Read more

On arrival of location of hotel is fine, checked in only for not to be given the right direction to our rooms, and the stair are not really designed for carrying suitcases up! The carper needs replacing so does the flooring to the small restaurant area. Rooms are adequate although the ensuite i had was abit to be desired, the hot water was too hot and the hot tap to the shower was leaking making it difficult to turn the tap off after use. The continental breakfast was nice. Please be aware ther... Read more

Anyone with difficulty walking would struggle staying here! We stayed on third floor and there was no lift so had to carry our luggage up six flights of stairs! To keep your luggage in hold at the hotel you also had to carry it down a flight or narrow stairs! Good location and continental Breakfast was nice! Good customer service

We were pleased to find a place close to Vondelpark when planning this trip to Amsterdam, and thought it looked like quite a bargain. Unfortunately, we were underwhelmed when we saw our room. It was small, and the bathroom was even smaller. It was difficult to navigate between the bed and the door to the bathroom, and the window looked right out on the back yard area, which was at times occupied by somewhat noisy guests. While the location was spot-on

Awful - No wonder They make you pay in advance before checking in. Do not stay here. I know you are considering it, even if you are desperate, just save yourself a nightmare - this is the most disgusting hotel I have ever had the displeasure of staying in. I would elect to sleep next to the canal on the bare tarmac and take my chances with the thieves and vagabonds out there before staying here again. The hoteliers should be taken to court/locked up up for charging so much and providing such... Read more

Not handicapped accessible at all, or even people with any difficulty on stairs. Halls are dirty, bathrooms are gross, rooms are closets, paint is stained and peeling, smells like mold or urine in the rooms and halls. VERY expensive and cancellation rules are nonexistent (no refunds or cancellations under any circumstances). In short, avoid at all costs, you have been warned.

From the outside and into the hotel it all looks ok. Then you head to your room... Ours was on the top floor, 4 flights of steep steps carrying cases, no help from staff. The carpets throughout are threadbare & filthy. Our room was ridiculously small, consisted of 2 small beds pushed together to kind of make a large single and a very small bedside shelf. No window just a skylight which even though fully open gave no air & thus the room was boiling throughout. There was a fan in the room but t... Read more

I will be straight forward and stick to the facts. Stairs are very steep at the entrance to the hotel. Not suitable if you have hip or knee issues or elderly. The staff will assist you in your luggage. The price may suit your budget, however, you should be aware of what this hotel offers in terms of what it offers and the type of accommodation. Very aged in appointment, rooms dull and not secure enough to make me feel comfortable especially leaving notebooks in the room. You cannot log o... Read more

Sadly, stupidly we didn't check the reviews on TripAdvisor before booking. We paid 485 Euros for 4 nights and were offered a filthy, damp stained basement room with NO NATURAL LIGHT. It was small and cramped and smelled damp. My husband discovered damp stains up the wall and we refused to stay in this room. They moved us to another room for the night and that was fine. Then they moved us again - we didn't sleep a wink because of doors banging all night long. They offered us what looked like a ga... Read more

Had a wonderful trip to Amsterdam which was made better by the hotel we stayed in. A number 1 tram from Amsterdam Centraal and a 2 minute walk got us to the hotel in no time at all. Travelling on a budget this hotel offered everything we wanted, security, comfort, privacy, friendly and helpful staff, and above all good value for money. The location was also excellent, so close to vondelpark and a lovely square opposite the entrance of the park with tram stops all within a minutes walk. Had a ter... Read more

Stayed here for three nights. Three incredibly hot nights. Our room on the top floor got too warm and we had trouble sleeping since the room lacked an AC. The staff did everything they could to help us by giving us extra fans and ultimately allowing us to change rooms because of the unusual heat. Both rooms we had were nice and clean and the beds were ok. The location is great.

1. Looked good when booking the place. 2. front desk agents are a bit cold and accommodating. 3. Only Rochsandra was the pleasant one among the 4 we saw and had dealings with. 4. Small rooms and awkward tiny bathroom. 5. First floor room had signage shining the whole night so the curtains were not really dark enough to shield the illumination from the signage. 6. Quiet location with convenience.

The neighborhood that the hotel is in is quiet and nice, it's not too far from museums, the I amsterdam sign and other tourist attractions. We walked to most of the places or caught the bus, which was pretty easy. The room we stayed in had a private bathroom and 2 twin beds. Our room was on the 3rd floor and there wasn't an elevator and the stairs are REALLY steep. The beds were fairly comfortable but the pillows had no support at all. There is a computer for guests to use in the lobby. They als... Read more

A friend and I had been travelling around Europe for some weeks and chose to book a hotel for a change after staying in hostels for the majority of our trip. I expected a little more to be honest for the price of the hotel. The beds were comfortable and the room was reasonably clean but what came with the room was kind of a letdown, like some of the reviews here have said as well. Our room was on the lower floor which meant that we had a tiny window to our room which didn't give much ventilat... Read more

Given the price paid and considering it's location closer to Leidseplein I did think this would have been a better hotel, how wrong was I. Move out of the reception and everywhere is shabby. Grubby handrails, threadbare carpet throughout and a poorly maintained establishment is evident. Don't be fooled by the pictures. Ours was.meant to be a Standard Double Room. By whose standards I'm not quite sure. The smallest of rooms I have never encountered before and en-suite not short of a closet with a... Read more

As I'm working in the Netherlands for a couple of days this coming week I thought that I'd treat myself to 24 hours in Amsterdam before travelling to Utrecht. This was initially planned as travelling and having a weekend with a friend who couldn't make it in the end, so I'd left it relatively late (about 4 weeks ago) to book a room. I looked around at the relatively diminishing options and ended up paying E140 for a single room in a good location - rather more than I wanted to or had paid on my ... Read more

We are lucky for our room has a small window but some room has no rooms be careful about that. Our room on the roof and they have no elevator and stairs are very very small at penthouse. If you have many luggage and are staying on the roof, it will be very difficult for you.

The staff of the hotel was nice and friendly, our room had no windows, but for the price we paid, was good enough, queen bed, soft and clean, weird and clean bathroom, there was no A/C just a fan on the ceiling, I can't imagine being there in summer, since our visit was in November, all cool with the room temp. I imagine that bad reviews are from people to pay a lot, and in that case is right to be upset, I will never pay more than $70 per night to stay there. Location is excellent, everything... Read more
