Stayed here for an extra night after a European River Cruise. Price was a dam sight cheaper than anything else in the city. Great service and the room was huge. FREE MINIBAR! I have now booked several of my clients into this hotel and had nothing but great feedback. Top location incredible architecture and a deep deep bath. What more could you ask for. I am definitely going back again.

Great location only 5 mins walk from Centraal station which is about 15 mins from airport, excellent train service, good buffet breakfast. Very pleasant stay, would definitely go back. Near tram station.

Location was brilliant for a first time stay in Amsterdam. We where approx 5 mins walk from the train station and very close to the red light district and also not far from Dam square. We stayed in Room 200, the view from the room was stunning and overlooked a canal with a few house boats. The modern bathroom was amazing, 2 sinks, a separate toilet and under floor heating. The shower was amazing and very powerful, the toiletries were also very good quality. We used the spa and had massages, bot... Read more

A beautiful building sadly let down by the rude & unhelpful reception staff. Firstly when my wife asked a housekeeper for some more water we were told to contact reception, when we did we were told to use the tap water (not the usual answer at a 5 star hotel!) that it's the best water in Holland. Unfortunately shortly after this they had to inform all their guests the best (hot) water in Holland wouldn't be working between 19.00-05.00! Karma I guess. Upon checking out the clueless reception team... Read more

Stayed at the Grand Amrath for two nights over NYE 2016. Firstly, there were 3 of us in a room, clearly stated before we checked in & at check-in, this was to make sure we got the extra bed. After checking in and being shown to our room, we find that there is no extra bed. We were then left waiting 20minutes in the room whilst the member of staff had to go and find a bed. Walking through the hotel, there appeared to be issues with cleanliness, some of the walls in the halls were dirty. Unfor... Read more

If the price was cheap we would not complain but we paid a lot for this. They have big friendly smiles and polite lies. Huge massive heavy crane construction within 20 yards. Fascinating to watch but terrible at 7:30am. This is after they promised a quiet room. No compensation for a terrible night sleep. Free breakfast negotiated. Look my photos taken in the dark. Moved us to a better view and the windows leak cold air. Sitting here shivering with a breeze. Windows are fully shut. Can hear no... Read more

I recently stayed at the Amrath for two of my three nights in Amsterdam. It was very convenient to the Centraal Station and walking distance to many restaurants and bars. The hotel had a bar and restaurant on the property which was convenient. I was pleased with the service while sitting at the bar rather than at the table, service was slow at the table. The front desk staff was incredibly helpful calling cabs and giving recommendations on where to go and what to do. The room was a large king su... Read more

I went to this hotel to meet up with my brother and his wife who I haven't seen for a year and I brought my little dog -a "Teckel"- with me. But he was not allowed in. Ok. Not in the room? No, not even in the lobby.. It was cold windy and raining outside this day. Well it's OK to have a no dog policy, but the way the guy told me the dog wasn't allowed in... and how he looked at my dog.. as if it was the worst thing he ever saw. Didn't do me much good either. Some people do love animals...

Although there were a few positives about this hotel, our negative review is based on this experience: Cleanliness is always a top priority for our hotel selection. When a hotel contains a restaurant or kitchen, we put a small mark on the bottom of our coffee cups/glasses/dishes that are in the room to make sure that the dishes are actually exchanged for clean dishes from the kitchen instead of an attempted cleaning in the bathroom. It is a small mark that will easily come off in a dishwasher... Read more

From start to finish, our experience at this hotel was amazing. My wife surprised me with this break for my 40th birthday, and the hotel sure looked after us. We arrived a few hours before being able to enter our room, but we were able to pre check in, leave our bags, and were greeted by the most lovely receptionists who wished me happy birthday which was a really nice touch. We were able to get our bearings location wise, and explore the city a little, before returning to the hotel to be given... Read more
