Great place, very well located. Everything has been perfect for all my staying, staff very friendly and helpful, from the front desk to the housekeeping. The design is unique, very good bar inside with nice selection of whisky if you don´t want to drink JD´S. I would definitely recommend this place. Thanks guys!

Backstage hotel is fantastic and I am certain if I return I'll stay there again. Reasonable prices for a very clean ensure room. No tea or coffee in room but they'll make you one downstairs at any time. 4am we had 1 and it's free. Or we didn't get charged anyway. Really friendly staff and comfy beds. Stairs are what you'd expect for amsterdam buildings. We were on 4th floor and coped. Just took heels off!!haha. Thanks again and see you in the future. Already been looking at return flights for af... Read more

Rooms are basic and made sexy and design-y with a few gimmicks; not that bad though. It all hinges on how good the price is. Breakfast is EUR 6, but it's rare I say this when I rate an "optional" breakfast: it is worth it!

Stayed here recently on a short trip to Amsterdam. Room was lovely with a view overlooking the canal. The shared bathroom facilities were very clean. Staff were so nice and very helpful. Also a really good location with plenty of bars and restaurants and a nearby bus stop for the airport shuttle.

Exactly what we expected. Nice place to stay. Clean and easy to get to with close walks to bus, tram and restaurants. The front desk clerk was extremely helpful and courteous. We would choose this hotel again.

We travelled to Amsterdam for the weekend as a group of 3 girls and had a great stay at the Backstage Hotel. We had a room on the first floor with a balcony overlooking the Canal. The shower and toilets were always kept very clean! We would definitely come back again! Thanks for being so friendly and welcoming :)

We arrived really early (9:45am) & knew that our room wouldn't be ready but were able to leave our bags, and the lovely guys on the front desk said we could come back in a couple of hours and our room would most likely be ready. Check-in time is officially 2:00pm but we were able to have our room at around 12:30pm. Our room was on the 4th floor, stairs (as stated) are very steep & winding...but to be honest, we had a right giggle getting up was a fun challenge!! The room was very n... Read more

I recently stayed at The Backstage Hotel (I left there this morning...) for 2 nights. Henni & Marcel are great guys who run the place and their knowledge of Amsterdam is second to none. If you're in your 20s or 30s (or older with a young heart...), there's no better place to stay in my opinion. Many of the up and coming bands stay and perform there (Fleet Foxes, Newton Faulkner, Andy Burrows etc) ?80 a night for a double room. What's not to love? It only gets 4/5 from me due to the walk fr... Read more

very cool place, great location, really good breakfast, beds were very comfortable. would definitely recommend. stayed for 3 nights. had a shared bathroom/shower which was completely fine. there was never a problem with waiting for either the shower or bathroom. staff was very nice and helpful. only downside was that we were on the bottom floor (beneath reception/breakfast) and it was kind of loud and the walls seemed to be fairly thin so oftentimes it sounded like someone was coming in our room... The hotel is in the best place. The owners and staff is soo very kind and knows everything about amsterdam. Everything about Backstage is just great. The stairs give you a flying experience as they are based on the small but tall canal houses which might go upto to 3rd floor. This place is so near to everything you will have a great time visiting all the shops the markets all the canals and the main tourist places. You even a good view on the canal based on ur room. Would recommend defintely.

We spend one night in this very nice and clean hotel. The people are open and helpful; in the room you find a brochure with a vast amount of information about the hotel and different activities near it.The room we had was in the basement with a double size bed in a very well decorated room. All the furniture is made with black box used in concert, even the bed was so. This hotel is worth it

I traveled here with my three friends, and we had a great experience. They messed up our room the first night and had to put us in two separate rooms even though we booked a four-person room, but the manager was very apologetic and moved us into the correct room the following night. The breakfast was very good and the space had a great vibe. We were able to walk to pretty much anywhere we needed to go from the hotel.

Quite a cool idea with loads of original gimmicks but essentially this was a poor offering. The room itself was well equipped but it was a basement level room (therefore we had all the traffic and people looking in on us) and we had the main bar/breakfast room directly above us. We could hear every movement of them getting the bar ready for breakfast at 5am from tables sliding across floors to doors slamming. It was a very disruptive night all in all. I would not recommend this to anyone. Ps. Th... Read more

Hotel was perfect for my stay in Amsterdam. Location was amazing: hotel is immediately next to one of the more lively and local hoods in the city. Room was small put more than enough for my short stay

Arrived early and friendly staff allowed us to leave luggage. Room on 1st floor (up steep and narrow stairs - expected) was large, clean, and cleverly decorated. Did I mention the Elvis Costello poster outside our door? Shared bathrooms clean and easily accessible. Shared shower room had great water pressure, lights would go off a few times but return. Did not have the opportunity to enjoy the bar, but it looked well stocked. When we checked out, staff offered luggage leave again. Deligh... Read more

A very quirky and well designed hotel. The rooms have everything you need but make sure your fans working in the summer! The stairs are a challenge due to the steepness bit entertaining none the less! The staff are outstanding! Very helpful.

A very well located hotel in the center of Amsterdam, next to Leidseplein. Good facilities, good service, good breakfast. Only inconvenient : no elevator like most of the typical houses by Amsterdam canals. Next to the touristic area and good nightlife nearby.

I came here a few days ago for a 5 day trip and the backstage hotel is a very nice, pleasant and relaxed place! :) The staff are really friendly and in the bar area there is a pool table, guitars, a piano and magazines that are all (if not most) in English and of course a bar. I did not have a guitar pick so I asked the man at the bar if he had one and he nicely gave me one and he said that I could keep it and it had two guitar picks on a key ring which I thought was extremely nice of him. :) Th... We stayed for 5 nights over the past week and really enjoyed our stay. The location is excellent and there are plenty of places to park your bike outside, the beds were comfortable and beds made up and new towels provided every day. In the morning we chose to take the breakfast and ?6,50, it was amazing value and really tasty with a good selection of food - even Prosecco for a morning Bucks Fizz! The staff were all super friendly and really made the effort to help you get around and make you... Read more

An ideal place to stay in Amsterdam. Situated at a canal, near a tram stop and within walking distance of most of the sights in Amsterdam. True to a canal house, it is narrow and the stairs are small and steep. The rooms are small, there are no cupboards though there is hanging space. The entire place is done up with music and stage decorations. Absolutely charming! The hosts are laid back and understanding, they did not make a fuss about us checking out a bit late (which was rather nice). We di... Read more

Decent breakfast at $6.50. Quite a hike up the narrow and steep staircase. Will be a challenge if you are bringing the big hardcase luggages. Rooms are reasonable for the price paid. About half an hr walk from the central station, would have saved a whole lot to just uber from the airport. Museums are just round the corner.

A very nice themed hotel located in a quiet place, it is 30min walk from the central station but also close to many site seeing locations, you can also take the tram to Leidseplein station which is two blocks away, there are lot of restaurants and coffee shops nearby, the rooms were comfortable and clean, I had one with a shared bathroom in the same floor which was no problem for me, the highlight of this place was the staff, they were very helpful and gave me really very helpful tips on my firs... On arrival we were upgraded to a ensuite room on the 4th floor. The stairs are very steep and narrow but most buildings are here. Staff are very friendly and gave us directions whenever we needed them. Having a pool table was great. Several english channels on the tv. Great location for shops and attractions. Didn't try the breakfast.

The staff is incredibly nice. The location is really good with some really nice bar just a few meters away by walking. The hotel has a 'partnership' with a taxi company to bring you to the airport for 37,5?. Really good hotel if you are here to party, otherwise it's really loud. Note that the shower is common - better take some flip flops! Would definitely go there again for a friends trip!

We stayed at the BackStage Hotel for 3 nights and were really pleased with our time there. The rooms are very simple and well-lit, the bathrooms ar nice, and the bed was very comfortable. Fresh flowers were delivered the first day we were there, too. That was such a nice touch. The rooms are smaller than they appear in the photos, but I think that is how most hotel rooms/bathrooms are in Amsterdam, so don't let that surprise you if you choose to stay there.
