The best place in town to meet your girlfriends on the varandah for high tea. Excellent coffee, served with an assortment of sandwiches and freshly baked pastries. The breakfast buffet is also excellent with a large variety of food to choose from. It's pricey but well worth it. If you do breakfast there, you'll probably skip lunch. It's just natural to overeat there :)

My room was not in the main building but one of those that were built along the cliff looking directly to the ocean. With a patio, I really enjoyed sitting out there with the view. Their services are also very good - meet the 5-star hotel standard one would expect.

If you're looking for a taste of colonial mozambique, a stunning hotel and brilliant service then you can't do wrong here. The rooms are enormous and comfortable and the breakfast was fantastic. It's set up on the hill, away from the beach, but the views are stunning.

I chose Polana Serena for its rich history and thus expected experience, do not that both were found. But I need to warn you with regards to airport transfer. Upon arrival, out at the exit there was a transfer-men with uniform holding a Serena hotel name tag. I told him that we did not make a reservation for a transfer but we could take the service if it was reasonable. The person said we would pay at the hotel and grabbed our luggage and started to walk to the car. Until we arrived where the ca... Read more

Beautiful hotel with an amazing view of the ocean. Every morning you can enjoy a delicious buffet breakfast on the terrace, looking at the swimming pool and the ocean. Rooms are very spacious and clean. Bathroom is big too, with a big shower. Staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is located close to the city center and not far from the beach. Prices are higher than the average.

I really enjoy staying in hotels with a history. The hotel has a lot of character and is in great condition. The rooms are large and well appointed. The staff are friendly and attentive. The bar has a real old world charm. Their pasty chef however deserves to be knighted! Try as I might, it was hard to say away from their selection of deserts. It's THE place to stay in Maputo!

This is a high quality hotel located overlooking the sea close to the city centre but away from the bustle. Hotel building is in the 'colonial' style dating from 1922 but in very good order. Great service, good food, but suited for the business traveller rather than a family. Downside: breakfast is boring, particularly the fruit salad and the bar lacks atmosphere. Pool area and gardens are beautiful but, as the building is aligned north/south the pool area has no sun after 1530 (June). Whilst... Read more

Traditional hotel, with charm. First stay I had a wonderful water facing room, second time a side view, which I would avoid. Great service, friendly staff, comfortable rooms. Good for a business trip. Good fitness center. Convenient location.

I can really recommend this hotel. Its well taken care of with clean rooms. The straff is very professionell and really service minded. If you need anything they will arrange it for you. Nice breakfast in a quite spacy restaurant with great service. We didnt use the swimmingpool though it looked real nice. We took a cab to the beach and went swimming in the ocean. If I come back I will definitly stay here again .
