I booked this reservation through an online deal that only lasted for a few minutes- I can't stress how much it was a once in a lifetime deal. I have travelled many places around the globe (Spain, France, Cuba, Mexico, Germany, Nicaragua,) but this has been my favorite place so far. I have stayed in hostels, castles, villas, mansions, and AirBnBs. The accommodations are anything but typical; you are truly in a palace! My best friend and I had read a lot of reviews were people complained of it being empty and a little foreboding, but trust me after a day in the famous Marrakech Medina you will want a peaceful, beautiful setting to relax in. I will try to keep the review simple but:
The grounds were breath taking-- it's easy to see why so many films are filmed at the Palace. I actually saw Sex in The City 2 and knew this had been the hotel they used. It literally looks just like the film; better actually because you are there in person. Flowers blooming along windows, archways, puppies and kittens playing around the grounds (but not in an annoying way), birds every morning, a huge bed, bath, sitting area, and dressing area...you name it. It was stunning!
Impeccable- very friendly, they spoke several languages and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Again, we got a great deal but they didn't make us feel bad for staying there at the great rate we got. We had so many people attending to us it made us feel a bit bad! They would also do great things to make our stay wonderful-- like on the last day where they had someone drop off complimentary breakfast for us at 4am before our flight! Of the things we requested! They also arranged for a driver to drop us off that was way cheaper (and more luxe) then the tour groups transfer service. For the Spa, I am allergic to certain things and they actually went out of their way to search for a body scrub that I could use.
No hidden fees- we were aware that things like dinner and the spa were extra, but we did not mind. be MINDFUL and don't get upset when you charge up your own fees-- for example, the first nights we were so tired we ate there for about 25 per person USD but after we got the hang of it, we went to the Medina and at for like 2 per person USD. The spa was much more beautiful than any other I have been in around the world and was only 70 per person USD for a 1 hour experience
The bottled water, snacks, free shuttle, free breakfast, awesome bar and jade tea room were all extras we loved. They really go above and beyond to make you feel wonderful and essentially like royalty
Things to Note
If you are on a budget, please be mindful of the fees-- also be friendly to the staff. I can't imagine it's easy keeping that huge palace in tact all the time O___o A lot of people have called it like a prison, scary and big and empty but again, we loved it! My best friend and I are both designers so we liked how beautiful it was and all of the Moroccan and Indian design touches. We liked spending our days lost in the Medina or on tours and outdoors and then coming back to absolute quiet/peace... If you are looking to meet a bunch of people or party, you should stay in a local Raid or Hostel? Which I'm a bit over at this point in my travels, but to each his own!
