An ideal place for those looking to enjoy the local culture and decor that Marrakech has to offer, whilst escaping the hustle and bustle of the hectic streets. The riad was around 15 minutes walk from the main square, and a similar distance to the new town. This was perfect for our visit allowing us to visit many areas of the city in walking distance - the returning walk during the night can be somewhat off-putting, but I feel this will be the case with any location in the city. A decent stay if you are aware of the place and have read reviews before you go there. The staff are very helpful even though they don't speak much English. A fair walk from Souks, but it's not too bad. Would certainly recommend it. It's not too difficult to find either.

We really warmed to the Riad as our 5 night stay progressed. The initial issue was really down to our own ignorance in finding it. Its tucked away in the backstreets, and whilst frustrating at first, actually really adds to its charm. Whilst check in was really slow (relaxed might be a better way of looking at it) we were supplied with mint tea. We stayed on the top floor which was lovely and supplied views across the city. The first night we were woken by the nearby mosque, but after the first... Read more

We had a delightful week at Riad Barroko where, day to day, the staff were kind, friendly and helpful. We felt very cared for by the kitchen staff who served mint tea whenever we returned. The breakfasts were good. We have, however, been disappointed since our return. On our final morning the manager volunteered to post our postcards for us, but none of them have ever arrived. An email sent after a fortnight failed to elicit a response.

This riad is not 4* and the photos used for advertising are old and not accurate. When you first arrive - you aren't told any of the normal things you would expect from a hotel. When breakfast is, check out, hints and tips - you are left to your own devices. The rooms are horrible - broken showers, no hot water, dim lighting, broken sockets, dirty, dusty, the list could go on. The bedding had holes in and the room can only be locked with a padlock. There are plenty of nicer places in Marrake... Read more
