We enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend the Matilda....some pros & cons to ponder. Pros - rooms are very clean and are decent in size, bathrooms are very nice. Location is great, can walk to most places. Staff is friendly and helpful. Very nice bar on the 2nd floor. Cons- tours or transportation booked through the hotel will be double what you will pay if you do a little homework and do it yourself. They will charge you 25% to run your credit card for cash (my ATM card didn't work). ... Read more

I had a massage and reflexology from Samantha. Most importantly to me. Four days ago I tripped in the cobblestone streets and severely sprained my ankle. I could barely walk for two days and for the past two days could only walk for about two blocks with a cane. After massage and reflexology I walked back 4 blocks to our hotel without a cane. The staff when we got back to out hotel were amazed. So am I as well as my wife. I highly recommend this place if even you are not injured. Thank y... Read more

This hotel was a nice oasis of modern, sleek comfort. It was my first visit to San Miguel, and I loved all of the haciendas, and the market, and churches, really everything about the place. We walked all over the place, and afterwards, I truly enjoyed relaxing at the pool, and having a spacious room with great A/C! I was across from the bar, but it was never annoyingly loud, and the "white noise" from the A/C covered all outside noises. The shades kept light out and I slept like a baby. Nic... Read more

I was in San Miguel last week to coordinate a wedding and after a long wedding day my assistant and I went to the spa at Hotel Matilda to unwind and relax. We had a private yoga class that was taught by a lovely instructor and I wish we could have shared another hour with her. We let her know we were sore from an 18 hour wedding day and she provided a relaxing class with just the right amount of stretching and a lot of extra personal attention. We followed yoga with massages and both thought our... Read more

This hotel looks like it's from a Restoration Hardware catalog. It's a gorgeous and well-designed hotel. I visited the spa and Moxi restaurant. Both are awesome. The spa has one of the best steam rooms I've ever been in! If you get breakfast included in your hotel stay, it only includes pastries, fruit, and coffee/tea. Other things on the menu are an extra charge. I ate lunch at Moxi; it was outstanding and creative! The location of Hotel Matilda is great - really close to a park and dow... Read more

It is a nice modern hotel, but don´t expect the BEST The service is what saves the hotel. Staff is very friendly (inlcuidng SPA) and the manger was great. Unfortunately, the price is too high for what you receive. The pool is very very small and the breakfast included in your room is continental, only juice coffee and toast. Moxi is nice but go out for meals. Being an Enrique Olvera´s restaurant I expected more. I will search for other options on my next visit to SMA

the hotel is strikingly modern with esthetic appeal BUT the rooms have design problems- while beautiful to the eye, the lights are oddly wired and difficult to operate, the television likewise requires tutelage to start, the safe is not simple to open and close and the controls in the bathtub are to the rear and high requiring one to stand to regulate- the air conditioning however is good and the beds are comfortable - the food in the restaurant is superb and the spa is first class- nonethe... I was surprised with hotel Matilda . I could not imagine that such a colonial street in San Miguel de Allende had such a retro hotel. The hotel has a unique flavor. It is full of charming details . The rooms are lovely and clean . The pool is spectacular and the service staff is very friendly. This very well it located and has one of the best restaurants in town .

We only had breakfast at the hotel. Did not stay there. We were referred by another hotel. It was a very nice breakfast. Excellent. It was nice walking by the kitchen and watching the ladies cook up wonderful variations of Mexican breakfast. I will go back. Always nice to explore new eating places.

Hotel Matilda is beautiful. Wonderful artwork, comfortable beds, very modern, delicious breakfast, lovely setting. A moderate walk to the main square of the city and the restaurants, shops, galleries, etc. located in that part of the city. A little farther on, you will find the artisans' market, food market, etc. Walking in the other direction, you are just about one block from a very nice park with a playground for children, lots of trees, etc.
