"FOOD IS TERRIBLE. SOOOOO TERRIBLE. i mean how do u even mess up pasta??? I am not the type to be picky with food.. but this was just terrible for a resort. i have told everyone i felt like i was in a prison cafeteria....I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.
service was great. rooms were good. drinks were ok.. but honestly if they just brought up the level of food there by even 10% i would recommend this place.
i purposely lost weight so i can fatten up on this trip.. and instead i ended up losing more weight. good i guess haha
if ur looking for a CHEAP place for ur kids. then please go... but neone else who wants a lil more quality... dont go here"

"If you love kids, and lots of them, go here! We had no idea there would be so many children. The adult pool is small but was sufficient to get away from the kids. The food was adequate to get something into your stomach, the main buffet was the best of all the restaurants and this isn't saying much. We did enjoy breakfast everyday and the snack bar in the afternoon though.
Rooms were great, service was wonderful, fridge was cold, beds were very comfortable. The view and the resort itself I highly recommend.
If you want a vacation with adults and great food, partying, etc. I don't recommend this resort. If you want to go away with your kids, then by all means, go and join the crowd."

"We are members of the Royal Solaris in Los cabos. We did enjoy the friendliness of the concierge and the staff ,they were very polite, smilling and always there to answer our questions. We find the air trip was 8 hr1/2 too long for us, that is why we will not be going back. The food in the restaurants was very good but as for the buffet unfortunately the food was cold. The room was nice, we had an ocean view since we are ocean view members. it was very quiet. For us it is not a 5 Star resort ,the reason is that the rooms need to be renovated ,the furniture is damaged and the cussions on the chairs were stained. We did enjoy the shows in the theater. The Gala and the Carabean night for the members were EXCELLENT the food was very good the musiciens and all the artists were EXCELLENT we had a great time. A special THANK YOU to our Concierge for is professional attitude, he was always available to meet our needs, We see him in near future to be manager, good luck to you. We also like to say THANK YOU to our favorite waitress, she is very nice, polite and hard worker. We hope that she gets a promotion it will be well deserved. We give Royal Solaris Los Cabos 4 star."

"I'm sorry, but we were very disappointed by this all-inclusive hotel. First of all, we did not expect to go on a relaxing holiday and have a wrist band placed on our arms. Then we had a session with the concierge, who told us about the restaurants, shows and ammenities of the hotel. Very good...then he proceeded to try and talk us into having a one hour meeting on our last morning to tell us about their 'member' program (i.e. Time Share). For attending this meeting they would give us some 'extras' that were available during our stay for free. All this before we got to our room.
The Room: Clean, but very damp and musty smelling. Our view overlooked a dry washed out river bed with the ocean a long distance away. We were placed in the family area (we booked as a couple) and it was noisy with kids and families in the hallway.
We went to the bar...only one type of beer available...the cheapest you can get in Mexico. A very limited selection of wines and the spirits were watered down.
The food...ok, but not great. I was very put off by the juices served at breakfast. They weren't juice at all, just flavoured cordials.
The gardens and the pool area was beautiful. The only thing going for the hotel in my opinion. Ok, this is Mexico where people party, but I felt bad for the families with small kids that had to be subjected to this behaviour.
So, after the first night we decided to leave and go elsewhere. They offered us a new room to get us to stay. We tried it one more night. The room had a nice view of the pool and was much quieter, but still smelled of damp and mold.
The next morning we checked out and moved to a boutique hotel on the Pacific side. We filled out a complaint form and reason for leaving.
We are now hoping to get a reimbursement for our last two nights of stay. How do we go about getting the paperwork to you?
The website is nice, but I believe more detailed information should be available about the ammenities before people book.
Thank you for your time."

"We just came back from this hotel and we had an amazing time there.
The hotel is not fancy, or new, they can improve a few things including the beds and the pillows but the staff is amazing and they would do anything for you; food is good, I repeat this is not a fancy hotel so don't expect much ... besides for the price you pay compared to other hotels in the area it's not a bad deal at all.
I'm glad we selected this hotel because it was very closed to San Jose del Cabo and the walk to that town is pleasant; also you have Mega the supermarket in a walking distance too; there are so many hotels that are in the middle of nowhere and the other ones in Cabo San Lucas got hit hard by a storm we had.
In general is a good hotel, if you are not a very demanding person expecting to receive a 5 star hotel service but paying for a 3 star hotel you will do fine.

"I had they worst vacation staying at the Royal Solaris..the food was terrible..only one restraunt open at this time of the year Sept 14-19, figuring that Mexico Independance day was the 16th, I thought they would have some special event going on..they had a Tiki Party at the beach but if you were not a member it would cost you $45.00, and at the Italian Restraunt if you wanted Lobster($30) salmon (15) or two other kinds of steak $(10-12) extra. The same menu every day, it you don't eat there you have the mexican buffet. Hard beds, and pillows. Rooms were mildew smelling. We had the air on and the sliding door open, but still couldn't get rid of the smell. I was hoping not to get Legionaires desease. Complain to not avail. We will not ever go back...was planing on a birthday celebration next year, but will not have it at this resort..will be looking at the RUI. Talked to several people there and we all had the same complaints. So I know it just wasn't us..."

"This family vacation was all we hoped it would be. It was relaxing, the setting, pool and beach are all beautiful. Food was excellent, especially if you book reservations at one of the two specialty restaurants. Make sure you call by 9:30 AM to get a reservation. We enjoyed the evening shows that were included, and did not feel any need to pay extra for the few dinner shows which were not included. Concierges are friendly, but don't believe them about activities. Just go to the activity desk. We wanted to go snorkeling and the concierge told us it was impossible without renting a car, which he would rent us, or an expensive taxi ride. We asked at the activity desk and got a fabulous snorkeling trip, which included round trip transportation to our front door. Rooms and facilities were clean and very pleasant. We celebrated our anniversary there and the staff made a big deal: Champagne and chocolate mousse waiting in our room and a special dessert at dinner. This made it even more special."

The staff was super friendly and efficient, the food and drinks were delicious and offered good variety, the entertainment was creative and awesome to watch, and the pool and beach view were unbelievable. I would definately visit this resort again and recommend them to a friend. "The hotel was just OK, the front desk staff was not very friendly, and they had a HUGE issue with us attending a time share presentation of another resort - it seems once we attended that we were black listed or something lol no one would treat us nice after that.
Overall it is good value for the money and the only 2 issues i had were:
1) the bathroom and sink didn't drain properly - we reported the issue to the front desk twice but it seems nothing was done about it (we kept joking that we had been black listed because they knew we attended the time share even)
2) They had recently experienced heavy rains (they claim the heaviest in 5 years) and the dry wall in the ceiling all around the resort was falling to pieces)
Note: the hotel is a USD $35 cab ride (one way) from the city and marina and a USD $20 cab ride to the airport.
Note: The time share presentation offered us free transport to and from the city (where the resort is located), a free ATV ride, A free bottle of tequila, a useless $100 shopping certificate to a store at the other hotel (completely useless because everything in this store is about $200 and up), and a free boat cruise (which we couldn't use because mysteriously the number was not going through) - all that for 2-3 hours of touring a nicer resort and listen to some sales guy try to sell us on something we knew we were not gonna buy!!! o and they offered free drinks and breakfast while we were touring the resort.. lol"

"We checked in exactly at 3pm and the front desk did not have our room available. The concierge offered us drinks... but was also trying to get us to go to a 'Presentation'. We said no... and he took our no right away without harrassing us any further. After 3 hrs our room was finally ready. What a disappoinment with our room . We walked into a room odorous of like smelly rags. I paid for ocean view but all i got was a small partial view view of the ocean with the palapas in the way.I was so angry that we waited 3hrs to settle in and did not get the room i paid for. Plus they charged me $200 extra for my child being 1 yr over 12 for all inclusive package, my friend was there at the same time with the same age child and she did not have to pay extra. I was fortunate to find out that the adjoining room next to our friend was available (full ocean view!) I requested to be moved into that room, but then the front desk was trying to tell me it was a room for 2 people only. I told them I didnt care if I had to have 3 of us sleep on the King size bed, just give me a roll away bed. They agreed and this made my trip better. I was much more happier with our room. Best view and pretty clean. The food was ok , some meals where better than others. The entertainers at the pool were awesome. Funny and kept the activities going. The rule they have to follow with playing slow music in the morning needs to change. The music in the morning was making us sleepy. But they allowed my son to play his music from his laptop. Thumbs up to the entertainment crew. They made our trip fun!"

"Overall this is a very poor all-inclusive compared to others in the same price point.
The food, other than the average omelets at the breakfast bar, is absolutely horrible. It's very bland, and certainly nothing close to what a normal middle class person would eat on a daily basis. I know for a fact some of my items were prepared via microwave at the 'Italian, a-la-carte' restaurant. The property is like a zoo and full of locals. Far too many people and it seemed like they sell day passes which overcrowds everything including the buffets which is all you have during the day.
My girlfriend and I had to eat out every night and we found some amazing spots in SJDC.
The only redeeming factor of this resort for us is that we booked to jacuzzi suite which was nice for relaxing."

"For our honeymoon - We had a jacuzzi suite. After noticing multiple issues - smelly towels, uncomfortable beds, nothing updated. My now wife and I pushed through because we wanted to enjoy our trip. After going to a not so special buffet restaurant, we figured we'll wake up refreshed and ready to enjoy.
After finding two cockroaches in our room, we asked to be moved to a different suite. Apparently they were booked full and so they downgraded us with no apology and no compensation.
It was late and we were tired and wanted to deal with it in the morning, so we went to our room to go to bed. When we get to our room with an eery smell (this should have been our warning) and with cigarette butts on the bed (picture included), we force ourselves to sleep and say we'll deal with it in the morning.
Next morning we woke up thinking that maybe we'll enjoy this, get some breakfast, and read by the pool. This was all put to a drastic and sudden halt when we noticed a stain on the sheets. Meaning unwashed sheets.
We are thankful that this was the push for us to leave this awful resort. After trying to deal with the staff who still offered no apology or compensation, cancelled the rest of our reservation, and walked out in hopes of finding another resort. Our disgusting and awful start to our honeymoon picked up the moment we left. What a resort we found. Cabo can be the trip of dreams, for multiple visits, just not at this place.
We're not the type to have outrageous expectations. We're quite normal in how we go about things and try to be humble about all of it. Our motivation is to save your romantic vacations, please take this to heart."

"The overall experience was a 9. My family and I stayed for 8 days and 7 nights. Staff and our consierge wasvery courteous and helpful The hotel is always clean. The food is decent but the restaurants are full unless you make a reservation early. The pool closes at 8 with the pool bar closing at 6. Didn't make much sense since people still wanted to swim and hang out. But I do understand you have to have time to clean the pool. We booked all our trips, 3, through the hotel and the swimming wih the dolphins was well worth the price. The snorkeling area was bad. The boat ride was the best part and a lot of fun. We also booked deep sea fishing and had a good time. We did take too many people on the boat and the crew was not friendly at all. I would keep it to two. Do not get suckered into the time share presentation and we were warned upon your landing at the airport to walk past all the sharks in the waiting area. They will be very pushy but just keep walking and go get a taxi. You DO NOT need to speak to them no matter what they say. Overall, my family and I had a great time Very relaxing and would go again. Oh, one last thing, other guests will reserve chairs around the pool. Very very irritating. There are signs that says this is not allowed but it happens."

"I was so psyched for this vacation. Our activities were awesome. Totally what we wanted to do and the pick up at hotel was always on time, and really informational on the drive. Excellent.
However, United Airlines managed to screw it all up when they did not have a plan for the flight at 550a. Which caused us to miss connecting flight, which put us out one day less of our vacation.
The hotel was another disappointment. It was set up for members. If you were not a member you pretty much were harassed into going to a presentation. And due to the fact that the best rooms where given to members we ended up in the basement and around to the side of the hotel. No view except the brick wall and plumbing for the hotel. I paid for the hotel room. I was bumped to the basement due to United screwing up our flight and my rooms were given away. The hotel did nothing to remedy this during the week.
The other issue was the hot water in the shower. I called 3 times to have this looked at. No go. Everyone said yes, yes we will fix this but we took cold showers all week. I was happy the other couple with us had a warm shower we shared theirs. The pool was great as long as you could swim or were at least 5 feet tall. It is all one depth. So my daughter who can swim but not tall enough yet, could not just be in the water wading. She was disappointed. The ocean is not swimmable as there are high waves, undercurrents and jelly fish.
Also, free drinks and food (all inclusive) not really a great deal. The food did not change much from restaurant to restaurant. The noise level was also very high not very comforting or relaxing. You might as well be on a cruise ship
So there you have it.
Hope this helps the next guy."

"We had a fabulous time at this resort, the rooms were so clean and crisp. The hotel staff was very helpful and accomodating to all our requests. The view was amazing as we could truely admire the Sea Of Cortez from our balcony. The hotel staff was constantly cleaning, sweeping and grooming the interior and hotel grounds. My only true complaint about my stay at The Royal Solaris Resort has been mentioned numberous times in other reviews but I thought maybe those reviewers were just too picky. The previous reviews were correct when stating that the food, buffet style, was less then appetizing. Take the 2 minutes it takes to make reservations at their reservation only restuarants the food at those locations were absolutely delicious. Solaris please take note of the FOOD quality and selections. Other then that I would return again and again. "

"We had a great time at this resort, the employees are so hospitable and nice. the only bad thing about this place or city should i say, is the amount of people that bother you about the ' hotel programs' they have! they will tell you its a 90min presentation that actually takes about 3hrs of your time! :( I really bugged out about this. The resort however, was kept very clean and you can tell they try to keep it that way. I do have to mention that the food can be a little better and changed up a bit, not to mention that the drinks are not what they post on line, they did not have any imported alcohol and most drinks are water down. I understand that its an all inclusive deal but that does not mean that they have to lie on line about what they have to offer. Over all I can't complaint we had an amazing time and next time i will just do what we did this time, go buy my own alcohol! LOL!"

"the all inclusive food package was a great disappointment. There was no warning that the evening restaurants required a dress code and their availability was extremly limited. The snack bar was not adequately staffed and 4 out of 5 days when I went there, there was minimal food available - most items were empty. We had to rely on room service, a very limitied menu and a charge each time it was used. We never did find a second meal option for the evening outside of room service if we could not get into the restaurants. Epic transfer service was also not very customer friendly. The rep at the hotel was not there - we had to rely on a phone number for our return transfer. The other companies were available."

If you want extra water in your room they can do that but it will cost you more. (all Inclusive)??? The food was terrible , kids hanging around the beach exits of the hotel at night. "We only stayed for one night and the price was reasonable so I can't really say too much. The hotel isn't bad - it's just starting to show its age.
We only ate at the buffets and the food wasn't good at all. My husband was given a raw hamburger at the snack bar. I wouldn't recommend staying here for more than a day or two.
The hotel was crowded and we couldn't find any open lounge chairs by the pool or on the beach. So, we had to stay in the pool or walk around. The pool bars were great and the servers worked very quickly! It would be nice if one of the outside bars stayed open at night so everyone wasn't crowded in the lobby bar.

"The place sucked. Service was awful, food was worse. There were holes in ceilings in path ways to rooms. The pool was nasty. No area for adults only. The pool was a bacteria pool. The swim up bar. Full of kids jumping up and down at the bar. The staff does not care about you here. Except a host in front lobby and a nice lady at check in. Past that your unwanted......."

"my husband and i had a great time! the staff were very friendly when we checked in, we were kinda annoyed that they wanted us to see a presentation we said no and they kept bothering us after but we just ignored them and they eventually backed off. the food was good especially the breakfast and panchos! we liked the entertainment they all knew us by our name and kept the party going. my husband left his wallet by the pool and one of the waiters turned it in to front desk and saved us the stress! he was very honest and front desk as well. i also forgot my camera charger and front desk was nice enough to help us use there computer to help us charge it with a cable. our room had a jacuzzi on the balcony and had oceanview! we loved our stay met alot of nice people we defenitely want to go back! our overall expirience was awesome and we recommend this hotel 100 percent!"

"Barely 2 star. Noise level is beyond annoying, beach vendors constantly bother you, and the food is school cateria at best. But most of all, the Vacation Club takes your $$$ sells you usless unusable package that you can refund or use!! They will not make it right. SCAM - stay away from the hole property, there are many other nicer better places in Cabo that aren't so far from town. Sales pitch is total lies from reality when you try to book your next vacation but they will not give refinds, nor help you."

"Pictures lie, we had to change rooms 3 times. The beds and pillows were hard. No bell boy once we arrived, the AC was not working inside and it was hot and humid. We arrived at 3 pm to the hotel and by seven we still had not ate since we left home at 10 am we were so hungry but had to change rooms, 3 times, talk to the front desk for hours reguarding their time shares before we knew it, all the all inclusive restaurants were closed and we had to wait another hour before we could eat. We were tired hot and hungry. First day was horible. Finally at our third and final room the shower cloged and the water would spill out into the bath room. I would not recomend this hotel. After the first day things started to get better however many people were also disapointed it was not just us and our experience. no customer service skills"

"My first time to the Baja and it was great. Royal Solaris is great, nice, clean, pretty and gorgeous views of the Sea of Cortez. The staff is fabulous all over the resort. Weather is perfect.
Nice place about 3 STAR because of the loud noise everywhere, bedding is ok and vendors on beach bug you ALL the time. Other than that it's a fabulous place to stay. Not sure why the noise level has to be at rock concert decibal 24/7 but there is places to get away from it. Chairs are limited at the pool area, so beware and claim your spot early."

"The food was good, especially at the a la cart Italian restaurant, Marco Polo. You will never have to worry about not getting enough food and drinks here. The staff are very friendly and always out cleaning the grounds and the interior of the hotel. The hotel is close to San Jose which is a great town, if you like more authentic style Mexico. Cabo San Lucas is 25 minute bus ride and very inexpensive in comparison to a cab. The beach was very nice and you could walk for miles in both directions. We really love the area of Baja Mexico and will return very soon. "

"I spent 7 days at Royal Solaris with my 4 year old daughter and my boyfriend, we had an amazing time! The staff was wonderful, the drinks we good, and everything was alway kept clean. The food was pretty much the same thing everyday which got a little boring. My 4 year old loved the kids club, the way it was set up was fantasic, the staff working it were great and friendly as well. We did pay extra for the member show and dinner one night ($45 USD a person) and we did not believe it was worth it at all, the shows at the dinner theater were 100X better and the food they served was the same as the regular buffet.
Defintely recommend!"

"This was the most wonderful, relaxing, and awesome place to visit. Everything from check in to check out went great. The accomodations were excellent, as was the WHOLE trip. The food and beverages were great, service was out of this world, the entire staff was courteous, helpful, and friendly. They had an WE WANT YOU TO COME BACK ATTITUDE. The only thing I saw that was dissapointing, was that alot of visitors did not tip their services. Yes, I know it states gratuities included, but get real! if youy can afford to be there I AM SURE YOU CAN AFFORD $1.00 here and there."

"We had a terrific time!!! From the first moment we walked into the lobby, we were greeted by very-very friendly staff.
Our greeter took such wonderful care of us the entire trip whether it was just answering basic questions to personally walking us to each shuttle or bus that we had reservations for. The entire staff from the front desk, housekeeping, waiters/waitresses, bartenders & gardners etc. were all so friendly!!! The variety of food available was very good. Horseback riding along the beach toward the direction of the harbor wall is well worth the adventure. We were there during their 25th anniversary & promotion for membership. The offer for the membership was too good to turn down & since we really enjoyed the resort, we signed up & are now Gold members. Of all the very nice people we met, there were only positive comments about the resort - not one negative comment.
Warning - when at the airport 'do not' sign up for any excursions etc.. They led us to believe they were working for either Bookit or Royal Solaris only to find out later that they represent either the taxi or shuttle service you are using. Royal Solaris graciously reimbursed us above & beyond for the $$ we had paid out at the airport. That kind of treatment goes to show they truly care about their guests!!! Happy to be a Royal Solaris member......"

"It was awesome. The well Vodka was good quality (though Jose Cuervo is included, the prices for better tequila are very reasonable). Great service especially if you attempt to speak Spanish, even if that attempt is feeble, they honor the effort than just going as a tourist expecting to speak English everywhere. It's a culture thing if that makes any sense. It's understandable how families would love it because up to 2 children under 12 years age stay and eat free, so there are noisy kids sometimes but there is also an adult pool and the kids park on completely separate sides so again they do their best to accomodate everyone. I disagree with the other reviews I read before going about the food being mediocre. The food is really good and there are choices between restaurants from a la carte or open buffet, so you'll never starve. The ocean in front is not safe to swim due to rip currents but for $3 USD you can take a taxi down the way to a great surf spot. Beware of taxis and transportation at the airport when you arrive in Mexico because (again a culture thing) people will likely try to rope you in to some kind of activity deal relating transportation to saying that you'll get a rebate somewhere or half-off something, or 2 for 1 something, regarding that there is a sister-resort offering different activities but a taxi ride shouldn't cost you more than $20 or $30 to wherever you're staying so just be aware of that and just get a taxi at the curb outside the airport without talking to anyone else or make sure your shuttle is already included. There are activities available but remember that almost everything is a haggle down there. I recommend being the first one to call the initial price in any market down there because that is going to be the anchor point of the negotiation. The shows were pretty cool too that were at the resort. "

"This was my boyfriend and my second trip to Cabo. The first time we went we stayed in a non-inclusive hotel in Cabo San Lucas, and spent a lot of time on the strip. This time, we wanted a relaxing trip so we booked all-inclusive at Royal Solaris in Los Cabos. It was the most relaxing trip we have ever taken. The staff was wonderful, the resort was peaceful, and the food was fantastic. The all-inclusive was worth it for the drinks alone, but the food was just an added bonus. You had to make a reservation for dinner, but the meal we had at Panchos was worth it. It was also especially nice to have a mini bar in the room so that we did not to leave to get something to drink. My only complaint was that the water in our mini bar was not refilled for the first two days. Also be aware that during the slow season, the room service is not 24 hours like the add says. If you are looking for a relaxing place with great staff and fantastic food, this is the place to stay. "
