"Enjoyed the beach, San Jose, food and service of refreshments. The down side is 3 days of no hot water; had to get the air conditioner fixed; and the safe didn't work. This place needs some TLC and new beds. The front desk personnel couldn't speak English very well and it was difficult to communicate with them. We wanted to get change for tips--American Dollars for American Dollars. They would only give us change in pesos, which we didn't want upon leaving. There were 4 of us, and the verdict of returning is 2 to 2. We had arranged transportation from the airport to the resort, but weren't told who to contact. It was Epic tours, and this should be relayed."

"We always enjoy our stay in this comfortable, friendly and
well situated Hotel - at the end of the Sea of Cortez.
My friends and I have stayed there many times and we
particularly enjoy the beautiful cactus garden between
the two buildings with balconies looking out on it and
partially on the ocean. It is clean, the people are friendly
and in recent years they they have added evening
entertainment on the weekends - very enjoyable, ( but
music sometimes toooo loud) We plan to come again !

Needs some paint and love. Keep looking for a better place. Like anywhere else. Sorry guys, the pictures look way better online. What a let down!"

"The Good: The beach is lovely, the staff is very friendly and the hotel is clean enough.
The Mediocre: The food was acceptable (no one got sick), but not particularly interesting. There were a few healthy options, but other than that, very average buffet fare. The pool looked OK.
The Bad: This hotel is not a good choice if you are looking forward to a hot jacuzzi. It was only half filled and barely warm. I had to ask several times to get some attention to the jacuzzi, at which point we gave up and took a hot shower.
The Ugly: The beds are beyond 'hard'. They are like sleeping on the floor (and I am a camper)
We ended up leaving after one night because it was clear that it was not going to be the relaxing vacation experience I had envisioned. We were there during the winter and very much looking forward to hot tubbing on the cool evenings. However, if this is all your budget allows, the property is safe and clean and the staff is friendly."

"I am extremely disappointed with my stay at Posada Real Los Cabos hotel in Los Cabos Mexico last week (12-2612 through 1-2-13). My boyfriend and I paid 3100$ for an 'all-inclusive' package including airfare for a 7 day stay at Posada Real. 'all inclusive' is a little bit of an exaggeration considering that the only food available in the restaurant is a breakfast of cold green eggs, cut up hotdogs, and warm juice. The lunch is a buffet that consists of deli sandwiches and salad without dressing most days. Dinner was a buffet of strange meets in disgusting sauces and rice, without even the option to have anything else or without these sauces. There was no option of eating at any time like most all inclusive packages, the bar didn't open until 11-10 every day, and there were a LIMITED number of cheap alcoholic beverages. We were even a t times told that we had to wait to enter the restaurant because there was no room!!!!! Most of the time it took at least 20 minutes to get a drink from a bartender and he, along with the rest of the staff spoke little English to the point that they were unable to effectively communicate with customers. The building is dark and dirty, the rooms are cheap with NOT ONE t.v. channel that was in English. The music was always Spanish out by the pool, and the pool was ice cold to the point that even when it was very hot weather we were unable to swim. The hott tub on the other hand was always the same temperature as the poo, even after complaining to the front desk and them saying that the problem was 'fixed.' The landscaping was cactuses ONLY, the water fountains had only about an inch of water on them, and the lounge chairs were old and dirty. BOTTOM LINE: THIS WAS THE WORST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN, EVEN INCLUDING MOTEL 6!!!!! DO NOT STAY THERE WHATEVER YOU DO!"

"Overall experience was good.
First Impression:
Upon arrival the Posada Real is an older hotel surrounded by larger newer resorts. The Landscaping is very well kept and is a cool theme with large cactus and agave plants in the courtyard. The front lobby was clean and the staff at the front desk were very helpful and nice. We went to our room and was impressed by the cleanliness. The hotel is old and there were some things that could be upgraded. The beds are hard as rocks. Feels like you are sleeping on a box spring but if you like very firm beds you are good to go.
Staff:
The staff was very nice for the most part. After a few days we built a good relationship with some of the waiters and with a couple of good tips they took very good care of us the entire week with endless drinks and tacos on the beach and constant much needed coffee in the morning. We went sport fishing and were lucky enough to catch some huge dorado and a 200lb marlin and the staff prepared us a gourmet fish meals for 2 of our nights. We had a ton of fish so we tipped them with our left overs.
Food:
Overall the buffet is ok. They have themes for all of the nights, Asian, Italian, American, Mexican. Mexican was the best and I think they should just stick to that theme of food. If you are like me you go to mexico and expect to eat lots of good mexican food. Unfortunately there was only one night of mexican food on Friday. You can get amazing tacos, nachos, burros, and other awesome food during the day at the pool/beach snack bar. This is where I enjoyed the meals the best. My wife and I LOVED the tacos on the beach with a few beers.
Comfort:
We booked a Garden room and we faced the outside of the resort which turned out to be nice because we had more privacy than the other rooms because there was no foot traffic by your room so you be comfortable with the door open enjoying the ocean breeze and partial view of the ocean without people walking by and looking into our room/patio.
Pool:
Pool and swim up bar was very clean and nice. There are lots of bees at the bar but they are not aggressive but this may be something you need to be aware of. Jacuzzi is freezing so don't expect a nice relaxing warm dip.
Security:
Felt safe, sturdy lockbox in room for valuables. Good
Overall:
There were no mosquitos and overall our experience was good. The main con for me was the beds. If they upgraded the beds I would go back."

"Really enjoyed hotel as walking distance to San Jose and could walk up to Mega Market and catch bus into San Lucas. Beach really close and small hotel, most of the staff very friendly, some of the bartenders not so. You have to ask for extra facecloths as only one in bathrooms, but they are very acommadating in this. Beach waiters excellent, really work hard. IDid not spend a lot of time at hotel as busy touring, if you want a low budget with no frills this is great, would recommend not going all inclusive, I am not a drinker but the few drinks I did have were very sweet and strong. The food leaves a lot to be desired as all buffet and not very hot. So eat breakfast there and go out for supper. Over all really enjoyed the stay"

"This was a kinda last minute trip we decided to do for our fist anniversary. The resort was very outdated but comfortable. The food had a lot to be desired and needs a better way of serving it and keeping it cool and hot. The staff was not overly friendly especially in the dinning room. They never asked if you needed anything. The house cleaning for our room was very nice and always took care of our towels and clean linen. The bar tender was very nice and always was very accomadateung to our prefrences of drink. Overall our stay was ok for the price we paid. San Jose the town was beautiful and we had alot of fun in Cabo San Lucas."

"My boyfriend and I came here for a much needed vacation away from our everyday life. When we arrived first impression of Posada Real was that the hotel is clean but very outdated compared to the surrounding hotels we can see why we got the deal we did. The front desk staff was not very friendly and spoke little English which was difficult and whenever you asked for help with something they looked at you like you we're asking the world from them. The rooms are clean but again very outdated. The beds are very hard and the walls have no insulation you can hear literally everything including the music the lobby blasts till almost 11pm at night, good earplugs were a life saver here would not have slept without them. The worst though was the head waiter / guy in charge of seating at the restaurant he was soooo rude to us, talking bad about us in Spanish thinking we did not understand what he was saying. Also the spa did not work the whole 7 days we were there, we asked to have it fixed but nothing came from that they just again looked at us like we were crazy. The only good thing I can say is the beach is lovely as was the beach staff but that is it. We will stay at this beach again for sure but will never stay at this hotel again do yourself a favor and spend a little extra for a 4 star you will not regret it I promise."

"Our family (Couple w/ 10 & 5 yr old & grandma) travels to Mexico 2-3 time a year. We like the convenience of all inclusive resorts. I've probably visited about 20 at this point and have never written a review, but wish I would have read something before booking at Posada Real. I was really disappointed with Posada Real. The food options were extremely limited, not like most buffets at all inclusive. The food was served in a small area with catering equipment. The 'salad bar' was in plexiglass cool container that had mold on the sides. We ended up going into to town for food half od the days because we couldnt eat the food. The breakfast was decent, but lunch and dinner were not very good. I did lose some pounds that week, so I guess thats a plus.
Most of the staff in the place was nice, friendly etc. However the waiters, never asked if you needed something to drink , they stayed away from the tables except to clear them. At every meal, we were getting up and searching for a missing fork, more napkins, water etc.
The outside poolside 'taco bar' was even worse. The waiter seemed irritated if we ordered. A few times he made a couple of rued comments about having to bring food not realizing that I spoke Spanish.
The beach is beautiful in Cabo, so we spent most of our time there, but note that you cannot swim at the beach there ( or most in Cabo) because of the tide. The pool was ok, the water was cold. They said the heater was not working. There broken tiles throughout and one morning there were some lobsters in the pool and it took various complaints from people and about 3 hours before a staff member came and got them out. The jacuzzi (4 person) was'nt working for most of our stay. Lastly the 'gym' is a small room with broken equipment. So if you enjoy working out, this is not the place for you."

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn in San Jose Del Cabo( formerly El Presidente) and it is a MUCH BETTER option. The price is similar but the quality is WAY BETTER. Both places are simple not fancy or large resorts but Holiday Inn has a real buffet, attentive staff and the hotel and amenities are very well kept. It is also in a nicer location close to a fresh water lagoon and a quieter beach.

"Everything was very good. Transportation to hotel was waiting at airport and took about 20 min. When I checked in they gave me a regular room and I showed them that I was upgraded to Ocean Front room. No problem. Hotel was very well kept. Rooms were average, but for the price they were nice. Lots of free drinks and food. For an all inclusive the food was good, but not great. Different theme nights, with the mexican dinner the best. Homemade soups were outstanding. Pool was supposed to be heated by solar panels but the water was colder than the ocean, and forget about the jacuzzi, it was colder. All in all very nice stay. Downtown about 5 minutes by taxi or 10 by bus."

"Overall Posada Real is a good hotel. Perfect for a 3-4 night relaxing vacation.
Pros:
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was great, especially the coffee (must try the coffee if you stay here)! The private beach is amazing! You never have to fight for a beach chair no matter what time of day it is. It is a quite location - no kids running around, more older couples and a laid back environment.
Cons: There are a few downsides: The hotel interior is outdated and is need of renovations. The beds are hard as rocks! The jacuzzi was not working during our stay. There aren't many activities at the hotel.
This is a great place to stay if you are vacationing for a few days and do not mind being adventurous and leaving the hotel for more fun and activities. This is not the place for you if you like more upscale amenities and accommodations."

"We had a pleasant trip staying at the Posada Real. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The manager did a great job! The experience was very enjoyable. After reading the reviews before I booked the trip, I knew this place would not be a 5 star resort. It was clean and the food was okay. The beds were hard but we knew that from the get go. The hot tub needs to be heated and the place does need a face lift. The a/c was perfect. It is a very quaint hotel. Could have a different selection of beer and hard liquor for the picky people -like me to choose from. Again, all of the staff were just hard working friendly people and did a super job!

"This was a horrble hotel.
One thing that the description happens not to mention is that its one of the oldest hotels in san jose (over 30 yrs old) and you can tell it has NOT been maintained. The lobby is a lot better looking in picctures than in person ... well everything is better online than in person. The bathroom smelled bad. The hotel has a stange policy on electricity, your room key not only opens the door but it controls the electricity in the room. When you first come in there is a slot to place your key, if you leave you must take your key which means you remove it from the slot which turns everything off ... yes including air conditioning. Many other guest shared our experience also ... it was funny to see everyone had the same reaction of disapointment when they first walked in.
On a different note, the staff was friendly and the food was good, however, that was not enough to stay here again."

"It was perfect for us. The best value for our money. A family with two teenager boys. We were out with activities 50% of the times (one full day and four half days). Our sons love the quality day trips such as swimming with dolphins, zip-line adventures, We felt like we were on vacation. We felt special, relax. Nothing was rushing like other large resorts.
This was our third time in Mexico. This is the best so far. At other resorts, I have to get up at 5 am to put our belongings to a few lawn chairs (a way to reserve these chairs) so that when my family get up they can go and relax by the pool. At other resorts, we have to line up for everything, but not at Posada Real.
We stayed in a room with partial ocean view on the third floor. It was perfect. The room was big, cleaned and a million dollar view.
About the food, we felt like we ate home made food, good quality, good selection, good presentation. This is the only resort where I did not experience food related poisoning.
The staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. The bell man was friendly and helpful. The bar tender and waiter was the best. The two ladies at the reception was very efficient.
I only wish that they issues four keys for my family. They only issued two keys for the room. It was the only inconvenience for us.

"Typical older Mexican resort, needed some cosmetic upgrades. Staff was extremely nice and friendly, leaving with some hugs instead of hand shakes. Food was good, most of the time, breakfast meats, should be avoided at all cost. Management was very helpful and handled all request promptly. Not fancy, but very comfortable resort. If you like a smaller, less busy place, this is it.
The old saying 'you get what you pay for' should be considered when booking here."

"My wife and I knew we were taking a gamble on this place, and we totally, totally lost. The place is a hotel; not a resort. Sure, they will offer you food/drinks all inclusive, but the grounds are in need of repair. The pool is lackluster, and I felt like there were more employees than people staying there. The concierge was a complete jerk, completely lying to us to get us to view a time share presentation and wasting hours of our time, and money on cabs. (fyi: a cab is about $35 to Los Cabos one way)
If the price were lower, I could make do with cutting a few corners, but stepping onto the grounds of the Barcelo, which is the upscale all-inclusive next door, I felt swindled, which I guess is kind of in keeping with the rest of the trip.
Overall, I felt more like I was intruding than I was a guest.
Next time, I'll shell out the extra bucks for a nicer place in that area that I wouldn't feel the need to leave, or stay closer to Cabo, and have several entertainment options if my resort is not so welcoming.
All that said, if you do stay here, He's the only reason staff gets a 3 instead of a 1."

"We were given to understand that our booking was all inclusive-but were surprised to find out on arrival that it only included breakfast and some drinks...Food was passable. Selection of beverages was limited.nPool in need of repair and cleaning-tiles coming loose and lying in pool---oilresidue on pool tiles. nTennis court fencing and court urgently needs repair...it's an accident waiting to happen. Putting green unplayable. Beach and pool lounge furniture in bad state of maintenance.nWill not return to the area because of the timeshare promo gauntlet at the airport..we were even subjected to many timeshre solicitations at the MEGA complex while shoppingand while on sightseeing tours of the area"

"My four friends and I have waited for this trip for the entire semester and when it finally came around the corner we were all dying to get out of school and on to the beach. The way we came across this amazing resort was by the price. All inclusive option for our stay that is well worth it for just over 700$ per person done and dusted after all the fees and taxes (if we had bought earlier we could have been out the door for only $600). We bought the rooms in twos which ended up working perfectly because we had five people total giving us an extra room for the whole trip. The food was great and the snacks were awesome. For breakfast and dinner the buffet is where it's at. They have french toast, cereal, eggs, (i recommend the omelet with chorizo) and many other items were great as well. The snacks were great too I recommend them for lunch. Our beds were decent. Only one of them was uncomfortable and the staff was great! I would definitely go again! "

"After reading other peoples thoughts on the hotel, I feel I went to a completely different place. Or maybe I expected more from a three star hotel. I would have put this hotel as a 2 star at best. No, I didnt have a terrible experience; where the waiters were horrible, the cleaners didnt clean, the food was nasty. It just was not the experience I expected and hoped for. As I said on the hotel report card 'its just the little things'. The rooms were cleaned, but plates and cups would be left in the hallway, You dont mind for a little while, but upto 24 hours, no, that is not right. The pool bar basically closed down when the Barcelona and Chelsea European football (soccer) game was on. The food choice for me, is limited, other people said what a great choice, I must have missed this. The rooms are basic, I do not have a problem with this as I have been travelling for over 30 years. I learnt at an early age so long as it has a bed and a shower it will do! Unfortunately, it wont do anymore, and we have to encourage hotels to improve thier service / standards, just because its mexico and the sun is shining does not mean that I can 'grin and bare it' for my duration. I dont expect the world, if I did I would be paying $1000 a night and have a personal chef. For me This hotel has a lot to do to catch up with the larger hotels next door. An example would be nightly entertainment, this was non existant to awful. One night I actually went to bed early leaving the entertainment as it was so bad. overall the area is beautiful the hotel is sufficient, if you can see past this and just use the hotel as a base (bed and shower), you will have a good time."

"What a charming little resort! It has everything one might need but really nothing more. The resort is older but the location is ideal and it is very clean and well kept. We absolutely loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat! The hotel is quaint and quiet with a beautiful beach that goes for miles...perfect for long walks with killer lime margaritas in hand. We felt welcomed and at home here and quite appreciated the calm, laid back atmosphere. This is a place to come and relax and we cannot wait to return!"

"We have came to this resort for the past 2 years and have had a great time. The grounds are beautiful the beach amazing and the pool is great to a little colder this year then last. There were twice as many people this year nice to see others enjoying this great resort. The beds are extremely hard though so that would be nice to be able to sleep better, everyone in our 10 party had hard beds except the suite units where the kitchenette is at. Those beds were great."

"When we arrived we were told they did not have our reservations. Once I suppled my confirmation we were told since the hotel was full they had to upgrade us to an ocean front room. That was wonderful but..
1. The room had plenty of somebody's hair that was not ours. It was still there when we left. The bed was like sleeping on plywood. Cable TV was minimal. There were no screen doors on the patio so you couldn't leave the door open for the ocean breeze. No table on the patio to set a drink on.
2. The food at the pool was excellent but the buffet was terrible. Everything tasted and had the texture of food that had been cooked hours before and sat under a warmer.
3. The weather was cool so nobody could go into the pool or jacuzzi as apparently the heater was broken.
4. When we book all inclusive, we expect all inclusive. There was a service charge to get water in your room (and the water coolers on the property were always empty). There is a service charge for room service. There is a service charge to turn on the fridge in your room which they do not stock! (
5. The one time we ordered room service we order the american breakfast, two eggs over medium with sausage and bacon for two people. We got one breakfast with two eggs sunny side up, bacon bits and a cut up hot dog. No, I am not kidding or exaggerating.
6. When we checked out at noon on our departure day, they cut off our bands and then let us know that if we wanted anything to eat or drink before our transportation arrived, we would have to pay for it. We have stayed at dozens of places in Cabo, Cancun, Jamaica, and PuertaoVallarta and never have we been refused food or drink on our day of departure!
7. To get ice you have to take your little tiny ice bucket to the bar and have them fill it. There are no machines and the ice bucket held enough for four drinks. After 6:00, the only bar is the lobby bar so it is quite a walk to get ice!"

"I went to the Posada Real hotel, my very first trip to Mexico. I found it very clean, food was good, the service was excellent from all the staff. If I wanted anything or to find out about something, the staff bent over backwards to accomodate me. You got served on the beach, which other hotels don't do. I went fishing, brought fish back and they kept it froze for me, and had a place to package it also(bring your own ziplock bags).
I don't think I would stay anywhere else.
I have read some of the reviews and if you are that picky about things, your living above your paygrade, whiners!!"

"Wonderful job :)Epic transfers were very nice and
on time. The Posada is very clean, nice pool, and a very nice beach. The food at the pool was really good but the buffets were cold and not very appealing. Employees need an attitude adjustments!! I tipped at least $10 a day to the bar tender and did not get that great of service. After being there for 11 days I asked to stay in my room 1 hour later than checkout and was flat out told NO. I never did get chairs for my patio so took one off the beach!!"

"Two days after we arrived I fell because we didn't have a mat in the tub. I ended up in the hospital overnight with stitches on my head and very sore neck. I couldn't do much after that for the rest of my stay. The staff was excellent but I did end up not having much of a vacation. Spent much time in bed on pain killers. I did like the resort a lot and would like to return and enjoy the facilities one day but can't afford to do now for some time. We would like to find out if we can get some free time at the resort in restitution. Great place."

"I want to begin by saying that I have a degree hospitality/hotel/motel mgt and have over 30 years experience in the business. I have stayed in remote bungalows to 5 star hotels.
If you are looking for a mega resort with entertainment and lots of partying, this is not the one for you. But if you are looking for an affordable, centrally located, clean, comfortable , with a home like feel, than Posada Real is the one.
This hotel is old, small, quiet, basic, but in very good condition. Rooms are standard. housekeeping is fabulous. (My room attendant was heaven sent.) The grounds are spotless, not a weed out of place.
The staff is bar none, TOP NOTCH. From the front desk to food and beverage, too many to mention, thery are there to service you and provide you with your basic wants and needs. They work very hard to make the guest happy.
All Inclusive food program is worth the $$, but be advised that the food is mostly typical standard food, wilth no bells and whistles. There is a wide variety to cover anyone's basic needs.
Alcohol is all house brands, but they keep it coming for as long as you request. In my opinion, it is a good deal for the amount you pay.
There are endless day trips available and most are enjoyable, My favorite were Whale watching with CABO Adventures...riding the dunes with Baja Buggy's, and camel riding with Outback Adventures. Fishing is fabulous out of the new marina located not far from the hotel, do not go into Cabo to fish, it is let expensive in SAn Jose Del Cabo. And by the way, the F@B staff at Posada Real will be happy to prepare lunch for you to carry on the boat and cook the fish you catch.
I could go on and on and it still would not be enough said about the place. POSADA REAL'S MANAGEMENT AND STAFF has it going on.
On last comment, I know this location is mostly inclusive, but this staff deserves all the tips you can afford to give. Break out that pocket book and let them know they are appreciated!"

"The hotel and its surroundings were beautiful, everyone was friendly and helpful, but most of the things we wanted to do were in Cabo San Lucas, and the round trip by taxi is expensive (about $80 USD). I liked the hotel very much, but would have preferred to stay closer in to Cabo."

"If you want glitz and action, go to Cabo San Lucas, but if you want a laid back experience, this is the place. Be forewarned that our initial price did not include totally all-inclusive, which was extra, but worth it. Everyone there has an 'Hola', speaks English and couldn't be friendlier. Special hooray to Benito at the pool and Gabriel in the restaurant. You have never had such good service. Restaurants and night clubs are not close by but you can eat there when you want for a nominal charge. I think breakfast and drinks are always included in the starting price. We got a 4-wheel drive for two days. One day we went into Cabo San Lucas (don't miss it, but the cruise ships make it very touristy) and up the coast to Todos Santos (great surf beach/restaurant/resort just south of El Pescadero). The best drive was up the East Cost as far as La Ribera. Every turn reveals a new beautiful view of the coast. Everything was a highlight, especially Los Frailles (fishing village and swimming) and Cabo Pulmo village(snorkeling, diving. reef). Take the one hour drive on Highway 1 back to Cabo. All the dirt roads go to the beach - try one for a surprise (we found one with surf crashing on the rocks on one side and a long sandy beach on the other side). Try the water at the beaches, but use your head. The undertow can be dangerous. No matter where you go or stay, you will have a great time. Get out and explore. It's easy."

"Great and friendly staff, food was good and the unlimited Tecate and margaritas were great. Love the layout and easy access to the beach. We didn't rent a car the the taxi ride into Cabo cost us $30 one way. If your loooking for a quiet place to relax and unwind, this is it. My only complaint was that the beds were very firm (hard). "
