"The Hotel Riu Santa Fe was outstanding. Clean, friendly staff, excellent sevice. The buffets were all very good, not so impressed with the al-a-carte. A waste of a good appetite really. 12 people in our group and we all agreed on that point. The drinks all get watered down in the evenings so don't tip for the glasses of water. But would go back in a heart beat. Best prices and mostful and informative group. "

"We stayed at the Riu Santa Fe in April...mornings and nights are cool...bring sweatshirt & pants. Outdoors & pools were very clean & manecured nicely. Rooms were ok...2 beds pushed together for a king...ok beds and pillows. Food was exceptable-I've had worse on the east side of Mexico. Liquor was POOR! We went to Cosco and brought our own in unfortunatley. Price was reasonable-would go back if taking whole family because of good price & nice pools and grounds. Must take boat ride from the beach over to the arch...only $10/person....worth it! But go when you can--don't wait till last day cuz the tide is very high somedays and then no tours are aloud. Took ATV 4-wheeler tour-DO NOT take $20 insurance policy...it's a guided tour and you don't go fast...it's a WASTE of money. Shopping & marina nice to visit...Maria Corunna in town is nice authentic Mexican resteraunt....good food...request outside seating. Oh....we took van ride from airport directly to hotel...charged us $90 and they get you to book for return pick up....but DON'T book....you can get a taxi at the hotel for only $60 directly to the airport-no stops. Taxi's are waiting at hotel at all times."

"Beautiful hotel. Excellent pool. Beach was OK but surf so big swimming wasn't safe.
Rooms use two beds pushed together which was a little odd. Beds larger than single but smaller than double, so plan on snuggling if you want 2 people in one bed!
Location OK. 45 minute walk on beach into marina/town area, or easy $3/person cab ride.
Drinks were average and bars understaffed, typical of all inclusive.
Buffet food very good with excellent variety and availability.
Restaurants were average, and typically hard to get reservation.
I would grade this a B regarding overall quality. But value was A , meaning you get what you pay for."

"This was my first time in Cabo San Lucas. Upon arrival I was really happy with the look of the lobby and entrance way. The staff greeted us with smiles, a margarita and were very friendly. The food was ok, it could have been a little better. If you look around you'll find something that you really like.
My only complaint is that the pool temperature was very cold. We complained to management but they did nothing. Other than that this trip was great...
I give it a 4 out of 5..."

"Only a couple things I would change about this place: the beds are terrible, they are two doubles pushed together to make a king, no hot tubs (which they say they do, but they're connected to the pool and are the same temp as the pool) and the booze are very good quality. Other than that this place is pretty awesome. Great food, great staff and incredible location. Be careful not to get conned into the time share presentation by all the airport transportation staff!"

"My family and I were guests there from 4/1/13 to 4/6/13. Upon arrival to the hotel at 2pm we were informed that we could check in but wouldn't be given the key until 3pm. We were given wrist bands and were shown to the restroom and dining room. When we returned at 3pm to pick up our keys, we proceeded directly to the front desk counter where we were ignored for the better part of 15 minutes despite several front desk employees making eye contact with us. I finally went back through the check in line to be waited on.
When I booked this reservation, I booked a double room with a garden view, upon arrival to our room I was surprised to find that my double room was indeed to double beds, I am accustomed to a double room having to 2 queen beds not 2 double beds. Unfortunately, that arrangement was not accommodating or comfortable for my husband, my daughter and myself. Also, my garden view was a very up close view of horse stables, which I must say was not a very pleasant sight or smell. I immediately contacted the front desk to ask for a room change or upgrade to which I was informed that the hotel was booked, but they would try to accommodate me with a room change the next day. So needless to say that evening we all slept together in the 2 double beds pushed together with me sleeping in the crack. To make matters worse at 4am the horses in the stable outside my room had dog friends who began to howl and continued to howl until almost 7am, which by this time I was wide awake and headed to the front desk to request a room change. I was granted a room change to a room in building 7 that also had 2 double beds but the manager, assured me that they would put a king mattress on the bed so that there would not be a split and she would provide a roll away bed for my daughter. I was instructed to pack my belongings and have them ready by 11am and someone would move our luggage to our new room and at 3pm come back to the front desk and turn in our room key and pick up new key.
At 3pm I did as I was instructed and returned my key to the front desk and was given the keys to room 7183. I went to the room to check on things and upon opening the door to the room found that the room was already occupied by another guest. Needless to say I was very embarrassed to have barged into someone else's room and I apologized and headed back to the front desk. I explained to the agent at the front desk what had just happened and she stared at me with a blank confused look. At this point I was deeply concerned because my belongings had been moved and it didn't appear as though anyone knew where. The agent took those keys back and gave me another set of keys to room , assuring me that this was the correct room where I would find my belongings. So again I headed back to building 7 to the room assigned and I did find my belongings in the room but also found that I had 2 double beds not a king or a roller way bed. So, again I headed back to the front desk -which may I remind you is not a short walk and have now spent the better part of an hour trying to sort out my room change- and requested to speak with another agent regarding the discrepancy. they very nonchalantly told me that it would be remedy but couldn't say when. In my opinion that should have been a priority and done when the room was cleaned and my belongings moved.
The room that I was moved to was in a very high traffic area. If you are not familiar with the layout, building 7 is shaped in a U with the pool being in the center of the U with a bridge connecting the 2 outer buildings. Our room was the first room directly on the other side of the bridge, so at 2am I was awaken but noisy, loud, drunken, spring breakers. At this point I was tired of complaining and moving rooms and just dealt with it. Although the staff tried to be accommodating with the room change, I feel as though more thought should have been given to the room that I was moved to.
I wish I could say that that was the end of my complaint but its not. That same day that my room was changed (day 2) I also became violently ill that evening after dinner suffering from both vomiting and diarrhea simultaneously. No one in my family was ill so I took it as something I ate that didn't agree with me. The next day to add insult to injury, the resort had grills going by the poolside barbecuing pork ribs, steak and chicken for lunch. I was feeling better after my distressing evening and thought I would indulge myself only to find that upon biting into my pork rib that it was undercook and bleeding. I must admit I was beyond furious and frustrated with the outcome of my so called vacation at this point. I requested to speak with a manager who gave me her deepest apologizes and offered us dinner reservations at the resorts restaurants for the rest of the week. although this was a very nice gestured I don't feel it compensatory for all that we endured. the manager informed me that unfortunately her hands were tied and this was all that she was able to do. I also must mention that housekeeping was mediocre to poor. Besides beds being made and towels changed nothing else appeared to be done. The garbage wasn't emptied, there were empty and half drank bottles left in room on the night tables and dresser, and plates of food left on the table from the night before.
And last but not least. I was stung by a bee not once but twice and the kids club was never open so my daughter who is ten could not attend and even if it was open it didn't appear to be capable of engaging children older than 6."

"We stayed here for 5 nights and will never do it again. It took us almost two days to get a decent room. Versus an ocean view room we got a room with a view of something like a sand pit. After we complained at the front desk, we got another room which had the same view but it was located just a bit closer to the ocean. We went back to the front desk and complained again asking them to show us the next room location on the map so we don't have to walk for almost a mile back and forth. This time we ended talking to a manager , who said that they actually do not have the ocean view rooms.(???) To see the ocean from your room you have to stick your head out of the balcony and look to the left. . After more arguing and treating to call my credit card and stop the payment he said he can give as a better room next day after 3pm. That room overlooks the pool and also you can see the ocean without banding over the balcony. We took that room but never got any words similar to 'sorry' or such. Not to mention that the price difference between 'ocean view' and 'no ocean view' rooms was a couple hundred dollars. After we settled down, we noticed that the manager might not know but they actually have rooms which are true ocean view rooms but due to the building configuration not very many.
The rest of our vacation was not bad . all drinks were heavily watered down. .
For that reason we spent most of our time next door at RIU Palace. Much classier place overall. So future vacationers, either stay away or book RIU Palace. For us personally, we will go back to cruise vacations..."

"We love Cabo but was not impressed with the Riu Sante Fe. The food was horrible and the staff will not do anything that remotely sounded like it was out of their job description. Not sure if it was the language barrier. Would not recommend this hotel if you decide to travel during Spring Break. There were drunk college students everywhere! The only thing we liked was the location of the property which was relatively close to the marina and downtown."

"My friends and I had a great time. There were different pools that allowed for different environments. There was a division of a spring break party pool, family pool, and a larger pool. The staff were friendly, the rooms/amenities were clean and the food was decent for a buffet style. For the price, it was a good quality."

"Will never stay at Riu Santa Fe Cabo San Lucas Again!! Front Desk service is rude and unreliable. Promises of service and assisant are useless. Our room was located on the third floor with no elevator. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Rooms decor remains in the 1980's with Zenith TV's from
the 70's. Beach and pools are goregous!! Food was average and all drinks from the bar are 10% liquor and 90% sugar and water. We had to leave the property to appreciate good food, drinks and service in Cabo.
Love Cabo but not Hotel Riu!!!!!!"

"I stayed at Riu Santa Fe with my two children ages 12 and 15. The hotel is nice and the all inclusive food and drinks were good. The constant drinking and smoking from the hotel guests is disgusting and being woken up many times a night from drunk, loud guests was terrible. If you love to get drunk everyday and gorge yourself on the all you can eat food, then it is a great place. If you want classy people and a quiet ,relaxing atmosphere, my suggestion is to find a different hotel. The staff was fantastic and Cabo is beautiful. The hotel also mistakinly gave my 15 year old an adult wrist band so he was given pina coladas with alcohol in them. For the price, it was a great place. I am not a drinker or late night partier so it was not my cup of tea."

"Stayed for 4 nights and will never stay again - NO ROOM SERVICE!!! All food is done by 11:00pm with exception of sports bar and that is cold hamburgers that you have to warm up in the microwave
It took us 4 rooms to even get something decent and then no keys for our room till next morning - very late flight wanted to eat when got their and no luck - the first night it was very evident I would never go back - the number of loud and obnoxious party persons was unbelievable - our first morning I went to front desk to ask for another room as our room safe had no door after being in put in 4 rooms the night before one of which was flooded because the mini fridge had broken...they had to find keys for our room because we had not received any and they changed the lock on our door twice because they had no keys for our room except the master key....then when i said I wanted an upgrade they insisted I had already gotten one (no i had not) then they said there were no upgrades available until end of march - the young man carrying our bags was so kind and so patient - he even couldn't believe the horrible way we were finding the rooms - we did stay in our last room but had to bring any money and passports etc with us at all times- requested numerous times to get our safe fixed and it never happened -
Internet access is only in the main lobby not in any room or other building and you are only given 90 minutes a day -
The food was wonderful absolutely no issues at all but getting a reservation at any restaurant was next to impossible -
pools and grounds were impeccable and absolutely worth your money but that is the only thing that is...The front desk staff was rude and had no interest in helping at any time..very obvious they were only there to get paycheck...
The alcohol...even the beer was watered down and had very little taste....
overall it was not a pleasant experience and I would not recommend this place...No room service...no elevators in any building but one...no food after 11:00pm...And did not get our requested wake up call at 4:30am...good thing I woke up or we would have missed flight and when I mentioned it at front desk at checkout they had nothing indicated it had even been requested...
Save your self....go elsewhere!!!"

"We just spent a week at the Riu and although it wasn't my best vacation, it was still very pleasant.
The positives: Cleanliness, cleanliness, cleanliness! There were always people out cleaning EVERYTHING! This was truly appreciated. The food was good, not excellent. The staff was extremely friendly. The resort itself is beautiful and has great views. The Asian restaurant was delicious as well as the Steak House restaurant. Steak to melt in your mouth, although I received food poisoning that evening, I believe from the shrimp (it happens!)
The Negatives:
Well, I wasn't the only person who fell out of the shower at this resort! And it had nothing to do with alcohol! They are made with bathtubs built in and it's extremely hard to get in and out and tub themselves are very narrow. I talked with more people with bruises on them from falling out.
The food was rarely hot although very tasty.
The air hockey games didn't work, nor did the token machines. The internet access was difficult as we were paying to get on the internet and it cut us off immediately. This apparently happened with other people as well, they said they had the same issues the day prior. We advised the front desk about the dangers of the design of their bathtubs and they just offered us the possibility of paying to go to their doctor, offered us a rubber mat and never delivered it.
It wasn't horrible at all, but I wouldn't choose to go back."

"***Pros:
1. Really sweet staff, funny bartenders. Most were very polite and greeted us as they passed by. I felt bad that they have to deal with rude drunk hotel guests for little tips.
2. Great photo shop - free half hr photoshoots on the beach. $15 a photo if you want to purchase.
3. Spacious room
4. Decent location, $12 cab to town - it was worth the taxi ride to get decent food at the local restaurants.
5. The coffee at the buffets was amazing!!!!
6. You can eat at the pool with disposable plates. Plenty of snack quesadilla/nacho stands.
7. Decent gym but closes too early (8pm). No free weights at the gym.
***Cons
1. My earrings were stolen from my room. Typically I do not allow housekeepers in, but my room was missing a 'do not disturb' sign. After they cleaned my room, the earrings were missing. They also gave me cake-shaped towel tower as a birthday surprise (a very sweet gesture) topped with Hershey's kisses --- but they left eaten empty wrappers on the floor! Perhaps the cake crew were the ones who took the earrings? The management made no apology - in fact she was supposed to call me to discuss the issue but told me she didn't because she didn't know what to do (You should have called anyways), did not offer anything for my stolen earrings and kept referring to it as an 'accident'. She blamed it on me because I did not put it in the safe - uh, hello, are items outside the safe up for grabs with your staff?
No bottle of wine, no free wifi (which is $10/hr btw), gee thanks for nothing. Hope your staff enjoys my earrings.
2. Upon greeting us in the lobby on arrival day, the staff removed our bags and told me that the luggage would be placed in our rooms in half an hr - the rooms were not ready even though we arrived 2 hrs after check-in time. An hr later, no bags. I called the front desk, they said that it was on its way. An hour later, i went to the lobby and our bags were just sitting there out in the open !!! I had to bring the bags up myself just to ensure the job would get done. Smh.
3. I know this is an all-inclusive resort, so I will be objective. The breakfast and lunches had the most fresh foods. They had a juice bar, fresh eggs, and a lot of variety. MOST of the food was not fresh. The cheese had mold on it. I got food poisoning from one of the dinners at the Chinese restaurant. The best dessert was tiramisu, everything else was crap. Most of the food was old, stale, greasy, low grade and oversalted.
Btw, the 'specialty' restaurants serve 80% of the same foods they offer in the buffet so in my opinion, NOT worth getting up at 645am to make the 7am reservation. Especially if it makes you barf after.
Both my bf and I became violently ill while staying on this resort.
4. Rough towels/blankets and rock hard bed in the rooms. Very uncomfortable to sleep in.
5. They did not restock mini bar as promised.
6. Alcohol tasted bad, so glad I brought my own Grey Goose bottle.
7. The pool closes Extremely early at 8pm. I have never been to a hotel that closes its pools that early!
Overall:
I would not go back. I'd rather splurge and stay at the ME Cabo. I went there on Sat for an afternoon and it was a breath of fresh air.
Normally i'd say that you get what you pay for, but I've had much more pleasant experiences at other all inclusive resorts."

"The hotel was wonderful. One of the cleanest all inclusive resorts I have been to. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you have a good time. Even though it was fairly crowded I never waited for more than a few seconds to order a drink. The food at the buffet and the specialty restaurants was fabulous. I would definitely go back to the resort and recommend it to friends."

"greatest vacation ever! Anyone that has negative reviews to say about this hotel or this destination in the world are to conceded with there own lives and standards to enjoy themselves no matter where they go. Hotel RIU santa fe was great. endless booze and as much food as you can eat. If you think your drink isn't strong enough. Ask them for extra shots and you throw it in your drink yourself. The liquor choice was great. morgan, absolute, bacardi, tequilla, best mojito's ever here. The staff was amazing! everyone was so friendly and drop whatever they are doing to help you in any way possible. the walk around the resort was long and very scenic. The food wasn't spectacular but what was great was if it was cold or not as fresh as you liked.....wait 5 minutes and a new batch would come out. Woke up with mimosas and the buffet some mornings AMAZING! They hold the venders away on the beach, beautifull view of el archo, beach has a nice steepness to it so you can dig right into the sand. The shows the hotel does at night are great! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR NEGATIVES ABOUT THE PLACE!!!!......I can say that the food choices after the buffet closes are limited to spam sandwhiches and nachos. And if you need anything that requires you to call the front desk and them send someone over it could take hours. so if you need a new blanket, more pillows, refill on cooler etc leave a note in the morning for the maids or ask them when you see them in the hallways to avoid any uneedly stress about the hotel taking there sweet time to give you what you called for.seriously nothing really negative to say about the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel. its a far walk to the docks/downtown area but its an amazing beach walk. did it with my other half 2 of the 7 days we were there. even late at night it seems a little dark and sketchy but theres friendly hotels along the way that make sure to wave and hi ass you walk through."

"Just returned from our annual girls trip at the RIU Santa Fe (Jan 12-19). What a beautiful monstrosity of a resort! The grounds are gorgeous and very well maintained. The lobby and outdoor space is pristine. Pools are beautiful and magnificent in size with infinity edge overlooking the sand beaches and ocean view. Restaurants were all of good quality food and many choices to please even the pickier pallet. The sports bar, pool bars and outdoor lobby bars were always a gathering space with premium alcohol choices and fairly speedy service. Dance club was busy but never overpacked with people. Music was good but not overly loud, so minimal conversation could still be heard. I will say the smell is not pleasing when you walk in. A mix of beer and maybe too many people getting sick, but hey if you can make it past that, a fun time could be had. The rooms were very clean and adequately furnished. Bathroom as well. Hairdryer is sufficient but if you have long thick hair, it might take awhile! Yes, updating could be done to the rooms, but really how much time do you spend in there anyway? Here's the BUT or CON of this wonderful resort.... the corridors are horribly noisy and the noise reverberates and echoes into the room. You will know when almost everyone not only on your floor but in your building returns home. I cannot even begin to explain how noisy it is. It's not just the late night partakers (we were some of 'those' people too) but the doors closing, the housekeeping staff talking (sounds like yelling) staff radios, carts with supplies rolling by... you name it, it was like it was next to your bed. Woke up all night long. The beds.... oh the beds. In theory, they were probably comfortable. However, they had this protective type pad on it that was noisy and did not breathe at all. Thus, leaving for a very sweaty night sleep. I chose not to remove that pad assuming it was the lesser of the evils that bed bugs may lurk beneath. I suggest and upon my return in March, I will be bringing ear plugs to help get a better nights sleep.
Im not sure that this is a complete CON 'but' the pool area even though it has a generous amount of chairs, fill up quickly and not with physical bodies as much as their towels and things for when they may return to sit for 5 min before abandoning again. When you are a 'sun worshiper' looking for premium chairs and then they are not occupied can make one slightly irritated. There are lot's of palm trees around the pool area that are quite beautiful aesthetically but cast shade and are also annoying for us sun seekers. Did any of this ruin or diminish the experience we had? Absolutely not. We still had an amazing time and cannot wait to return in March for Spring break! This time I will be prepared with earplugs and setting my alarm clock to race out and procure my ideal sun chair. RIU Santa Fe is not perfect but it's close. It's affordable, clean, ideally located and most of all it's in CABO BABY!"

"This trip to Mexico was the best that we've been to!
The complaints we had were uncomfortable beds and no hot water (luke warm) for the entire 7 nights we stated at this hotel Riu Santa Fe.
The staff were very friendly. They had plenty of bartenders on duty, so not much waiting when you go to the bars. The bartenders even have that crazy...funny...
.type of attitude. They were great!
Overall, our stay was GREAT! I would strongly recommend this to a friend. Hopefully we will definitely go back."

"The plusses FAR outweigh the minuses. Positives - Facilities, staff, cleanliness, atmosphere, location, weather. Negatives - Accommodations, atmosphere.
POSITIVES - The place is beautiful. Attention to every detail is obvious. The grounds are well landscaped, well laid out and extremely well maintained. The pools are beautiful although the heater in the main pool was not working during our stay. The beach is fabulous. The notorious Mexican vendors are kept outside of a 'safe area' preventing the constant bother so frequently found to be a hassle on other Mexican beaches. (There are plenty of great bargains to be had outside of the safe area.) Water taxis and water sports are both immediately available to take you to the marina, to Lands' End (The Arch) or for a cruise around the coast line. There are plenty of bars so very little time spent waiting for a drink. Complaints of watered-downed drinks is easily overcome by asking for an extra splash of your favorite alcohol. The staff is very well trained. They are courteous, upbeat, attentive, articulate (even in languages that are not their own, in my case English) and plentiful. The place is spotless - period. The atmosphere is a party. The staff knows you are there to escape the reality of your daily routine and they do everything they can to ensure that the goal is accomplished. The location is perfect - about 40 minutes by multi-stop shuttle from the airport and less than 10 minutes by taxi or local bus from the downtown/marina. Even though the weather is not the responsibility of the hotel it has to be noted how awesome the weather is in Cabo. 330 days of sun per year. If you want cloud cover or rain, go elsewhere. Also the view of Lands' End and The Arch makes for the best view from a beach that I have ever experienced.
NEGATIVES - The rooms are dated and dark (while being very clean and well maintained). The furniture needs updating. The mattresses need a major upgrade and it's time that the hotel invest in new televisions. The atmosphere, although mentioned as a positive, is also a negative. The entertainment staff's bass line around the pool is hard to escape (although I was still able to fall asleep in the sun).
The food has both positives and negatives. We didn't go for the food so ultimately I wasn't disappointed. The specialty restaurants leave something to be desired. The Asian is the weakest. Next (surprisingly) is the Mexican which should have been the best. The steak house is worth doing. The Italian we found to be the best of the choices. The buffets, though, are really the best option as they offer something for everyone with constantly fresh food replacing dishes that have been out for a while. Plus you don't need a reservation and can get in and out at your leisure.
Overall I would give Hotel Riu Santa Fe a 4.5 (out of 5) and would recommend it to anyone seeking value, location and variety.

"We had a fantastic time in Cabo San Lucas at the Riu Santa Feel. This is a great resort. Beautiful grounds. Friendly staff. Clean facilities. The main buffet food was excellent however the restaurant dinners were not. The resort is located a great distance from town and lovers beach. You can see whales right off the pool deck. The entertainment staff are awesome and the shows are typical but they are some of the better ones we have seen compared to other resorts.I would dedefinitely recommend this resort to friends and family."

"If you pay $310.00 US per night in 5 Stars Hotel Resort there shouldn't be such a things are there: no ventilation in the bathroom , no lotion, battle with alcohol in the room are unsecured, opening up themselves and spill allover! There are NO Lights in the hollways and stairs at night which is very DANGEROUS! There is NO ELEVATOR into the room on the 4th floor.
Evening shows are very behind the times. The road ot the hotel from highway is in the terrible condition. The front desk is very difficult reachable and give wrong information such as connection to the airport. The dial phone with other local hotels in Cabo or San Jose almost imposible . I DO NOT RECOMMEND Riu Santa Fe in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It was my 5th trip to lovely Cabo and I know better hotels to spend specialy Christmas Time for this amount of money.

"We (husband and two adult kids) stayed for 6 nights at Riu Santa Fe in Cabo San Lucas last week. What a great end to our holiday - the site is immaculately kept as are the rooms. We had a great suite and the kids had a good size room too. We were all inclusive and used the booking system for the steak house only once as we had a birthday to celebrate. Otherwise we were very happy with the buffet food. Drinks are more than generous and available everywhere. My daughter and I used the spa which was very relaxing. Overall we were very impressed with the resort and I've already recommended it to friends. We did walk along the beach a couple of nights for drinks at a couple of the bars there and that was good too - especially the Mexican Fiesta night on Thursday at The Office. Great holiday."

"Very clean and friendly hotel. I definitely would come and stay here again. Great location, easy to get to downtown, not too far from the airport. The food is not bad considering they are making it non-stop all day long for 2,000 people. The beach is great size, there are many pools to choose from. The liquor is not quite top shelf and a bit watered down, but as expected at an all inclusive."

"My family and I had a great trip to Cabo and a great stay at the Riu Santa Fe! Everything was amazing from the food and drinks to the staff. Very friendly and willing to help. Cleanliness is very important to me and the hotel was spotless. It's a great value and in a very desirable location. Very close to down town and the Marina...only a $12 cab ride. Venders and shops take USD making it very convenient to shop. I don't think there is anything bad I could say about our trip or the Riu Santa Fe in Cabo San Lucas."

"We had a great time. This was our first time in Mexico and our first time at a Riu. Our room was great. Important things to me are cleanliness and that every thing works (ie shower, etc). The beach was nice and you can swim where the hotel is located. It is just across the bay from the Arch and Lovers Beach. Short water taxi to the marina. All inclusive was good. All the staff, especially in the restaurants, were very nice and very helpful. We would stay again."

Been to many resorts in the past but nothing came close to this. 9 nights- didn't even bother with the menu restaurants- no need. The room was well done- grounds wonderful- staff were friendly and helpful all the time-the evening shows lacked but hey- that was not my focus anyway so didn't care.
Would go back in a flash and highly recommend it."

"WE STAYED AT THR RUI SANTA FE, ALL INCLUSIVE. THE HOTEL WAS NICE, VERY CLEAN, REMINDED ME OF DISNEYLAND, STAFF CONSTANTLY CLEANING. STAFF WAS VERY NICE AND HELPFUL WHEN NEEDED. POOLS WERE GREAT.
NOW....IT WAS VERY LOUD, ALMOST 24/7, BUT I GUESS THAT'S WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU STAY SOMEWHERE PEOPLE ARE GIVEN ALL THEY CAN DRINK....
MOST DISAPPOINTING, THE FOOD. IT WAS NOT GOOD. MEAT WAS TOUGH, THE STEAKHOUSE WAS NOT GOOD, THE BUFFET WAS CAFETERIA FOOD....
THE BEST MEAL WE HAD THE WHOLE TIME WE WERE THERE WAS OFF PROPERTY.
THAT SAID, MANY PEOPLE ENJOYED THE FOOD, SO IF YOU ARE EASILY SATISFYED THAT WAY YOU WILL LOVE IT.
SERIOUSLY, I DONT GET THE GOOD REVIEWS OF THE FOOD, IT WAS THAT BAD......."

"We just got back from our week long honeymoon at the Riu Santa Fe, and we can't WAIT to return next year! We stayed October 21-26, and the weather was perfect. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and obviously very well kept. All-inclusive is the only way to go, and every single bartender (yes, we checked out all the bars) was incredibly nice and lots of fun. The nightly shows at the main stage were very entertaining, and the event staff was a blast all day long. You don't ever have to leave the resort to find fun, but if you do the water taxi is an easy and inexpensive option to the marina or Lover's Beach. The food was great at both main dining buffets, breakfast lunch and dinner. My husband especially liked the Carne Asada steaks he found most lunch and dinners. The hotel staff was great at maintaining our room (including the complementary bottled water and alcoholic beverages), and there are plenty of excursion reps in the main lobby each day to book fun trips if you want. We did the catamaran 'Eco Cat' snorkeling trip, and it was a total blast. The pools at the Riu are drop-dead gorgeous. We stayed in building 7, which is the closest to the beach and also features the infinity pools. The view from our terrace featured the arch formations, and was fantastic. We talked to several other guests who had stayed at other resorts in Cabo, and every single one said the Riu Santa Fe was the best. We even found a few who had stayed at the Riu Palace, and honestly preferred Santa Fe for it's value. Overall, we had an amazing stay, and look forward to planning anniversary trips back to the Riu!"

"We had a very positive experience at the Riu Santa Fe. After reading through a few of the reviews, I'm not sure I understand some of the comments about flies being on the food in the main dining room. I didn't see any flies near the food. And the food that was set up in various areas during the day in the open air restaurants was definitely in protected enclosures with sliding doors.
The pools are beautiful and there are plenty of chairs to sit in, both in the sun and the shade. It is quite crowded at the pool areas facing the beach, and the younger crowd in the swim up bar pools were a little rowdy, but the pools set back in away from the ocean were very quiet and family friendly.
Our room was lovely and very quiet. There were no elevators in our building, but I understand there are in some of the others. But we didn't mind the three flights of stairs. It gave us plenty of opportunity to burn off some of the calories from the great food. The food in the specialized restaurants was ok, but not as good as the food in the main dining room. We've stayed at other all inclusive resorts, and found the food here to be much better than others.
It is a charming place to stay, and the weather is wonderful. It was sunny every day and 80 degrees. One of the locals in town told us they average 364 days of sun every year, so if your time is precious, Cabo is a good bet if you love sun and ocean breezes.
The Riu Palace is right next door and we heard that they have an older crowd at the Palace. I don't know if that is true, but I did feel like the Santa Fe was primarily filled with 20 something people who like to party. They were respectful, and went to town to do the night life, but if you are looking for a more mature crowd, you might want to consider the Palace."

"I can't say enough about the gardens - enormous & beautiful and make the huge, quiet (all the rowdies are in the beach/infinity pool) second pool a shady delight. Food in main dining room was much better than I expected. Excellent quality ingredients. And it is not true that food is left open to flies - many foods were covered or in cases. Service also exceptional, from table service to general admin. Very impressed with quality adn service for the price."

"Upon arrival to the resort, you first impression is it's beautiful. It's well maintained and very clean. The staff is exceptionally nice. The pools are beautiful. We were met at the front desk with margaritas.
After checking in, we went to our building and realize there are no elevators in our building and we are on the 3rd floor. The temperature in Cabo was 90 and humid. We climbed 3 flights of stairs 3-4 times a day in that heat. Survived it.
The room is nice but there was no face towels or toliet paper. We had to request.
The main dining room, again a very nice room but there were flies everywhere. Landing on and in all the food. Nothing is closed in or covered up.
The bars have the same problem.
I was truly hoping for a more positive experience and I'm not sure I would recommend."

"Overall my experience at the Riu was not a pleasant one. The second day we arrived our water cameras(2) and sunglasses were stolen from the pool. It rained while we were out there and the floor was very slippery due to it being tile. It wasn't until many people were slipping and falling that they began to attempt to keep it dry. The second day we were there the fire alarm went off at four in the morning and was on for two hours. When we called the lobby to inquire there was no answer. The four day into our trip it rained the hardest. Many of the walkways to the dinning area were flooded and we had to walk through buildings to go get something to eat. That same day in the afternoon as I attempted to shower the water came out burning hot. About half hour after that the hotel no longer had water. Nobody called to inform us of the situation. The hotel was out of water for over a 24 hour period. Hotel guest as well as hotel employees were filling up trash cans and water bottle in order to be able to flush the toilets. The electricity also went out for about five hours. The rooms were pitch black and humid. The following day I went to the front desk to inquire about our cameras and that is when I found out that they were going to have a meeting to address any concerns. The meeting was scheduled to begin at 9am in the conference room. After waiting until ten they came to inform us that the meeting had been moved to the lobby. When all the people who were waiting in the conference area arrived to the lobby there was already a long line to talk to the directors. It took about two and a half hour before we were able to talk to someone. They refused to move our hotel. We went to town to eat and to use the facilities. When we arrived back to the hotel to inquire if the water was back on the ladies in the front desk were very rude and could not give us a straight up answer. We showered using water bottles. On the positive side the bartender took care of us and cater to us. If it weren't for her the trip would have been more of a disaster."

"We checked into the Riu after a tropical storm had hit the area. Upon check in we asked if there was water and electricity. We were lied to and told both were available but when we entered our room it was clear there was neither as lights were out and toilet was backed up.
There were people taking showers in the common area fountains because they couldn't shower in their rooms, Riu workers were taking buckets of water out of the SAME fountain to wash dishes and prep food. There were armed guards walking around and a stench that filled the entire hotel since nobody could flush their toilets or take showers.
While the flooding caused by the storm is a natural event, the way in which the Riu management handled the situation was inexcusable. They were lying to guests checking in and not sharing that there was no water or electricity. They made 1 phone available for thousands of guests that wished to change their reservation to a more sanitary place. They were creating a panic situation. Inside the RIu was like being inside a war zone.
They need better contingency plans and better management response. On top of what we endured, they refused to give refunds or assist with transferring us to another functioning hotel. We had to make our own arrangements for another hotel that had water and electricity. Cabo is beautiful, but the Riu Santa Fe is NOT! Do not stay here!!!!!"

"There were several set backs and inconveniences during my one week stay at the Hotel Riu Santa Fe. First, when I went to verify my 'out door adventure and dolphin experience' I was told that I was canceled from the activity. I was also told that if I wanted to call my travel agency to get to the bottom of the situation that I would have to use my own cell phone, and there for rack up an expensive phone bill. After speaking to several other representatives at the hotel I was able to call them (on a hotel phone). As I had suspected, I was not cancelled from the adventure, and I wasted about 2 hours of my time. Everything else with the outdoor adventure went smoothy.
Unfortunately, during my stay in Cabo, there were several days of rain. This was nobody's fault, and my friends and I were able to make the best of it and still have fun. However, it was very annoying, and unprofessional, that the hotel closed several restaurants, bars, and activities. Late afternoon on Thursday both the power and water turned off. The power was off for about 5 hours. My friend and I had no flash light and were left in our HOT room in the pitch black. Finally, the power went back on, but the water did not come on again until Saturday morning. Because of this, many of the hotels restaurants and bars remained closed.
My last three days were miserable. I was very disappointed with the hotel services.

"We arrived at Cabo on Monday Aug 13, and it seemed like very nice place. This was my first trip to Mexico and I was hoping that it would be a memorable one. It started raining on Monday evening, and it did not stop until Friday the day I had to leave. I was staying at Riu Santa Fe hotel and since Wednesday hotel did not have water and electricity supply was often interrupted. Yes, this means that i did not shower or go to bathroom for two days!!! Staff was boiling swimming sewage water to wash the dishes and therefore, many people got sick. The food quality was average and the restaurants that you should reserve the spot were always full. One day I was able to reserve the dinner at steakhouse restaurant, but because of the situation with water and electricity the restaurant was closed. Since we came the fire alarm at building 7000 went off in the middle of the night because of short circuit caused by rain. On Friday the hotel management offered all who were departing vouchers that could be used at any of their hotels throughout the Mexico. People who were staying longer were offered accommodation at other hotels in Cabo. I was standing in line for hours to get a voucher and was not able to get it because I had to fly back to USA. Overall the message is DO NOT GO TO CABO!!! At least until they fix the infrastructure and do not stay at Riu Santa Fe hotel!!!"

"We had an AMAZING time!!! The staff is above and beyond friendly and helpful. The views from the hotel and the beach are something from a magazine, just beautiful. We had never done anything like this and we are already planning our next stay at the Riu!! If you see ANY bad reviews these people are nuts and will never be happy or pleased with anything. There are so many different pools you can go to so if you have kids or not there is a perfect pool for you. Our favorite pool sat above the beach and had an infinity pool that was stunning with a great swim up bar. The entertainment was AWESOME!!!!! Every night they put on a great show that is family friendly. This place is only 2 mi from downtown Cabo, a 10 min cab ride or a lovely walk down the beach made this a very convienent location to stay. Our room was great and nice and cold after a hot day in the sun. We would recommend this place to anyone."

They really try to do everything to make your stay wonderful.......our boys were in heaven all you can eat and drink all day long , it does not get any better then that.An all inclusive Hotel like this one is the way to go.
The weather in August was really hot, the pools were nice and fun, the ocean amazing......big waves. There is lots to do from banana boating, Zip lining, jet skiing.....snorkeling and on it goes.......I just loved the whole experience.....and i would do it again. All the kids had a blast........"

"Really We had a very pleasant experience at Riu Santa Fe. I just felt that it would be more convenient at pleasant for people if the lobby and at least the reservation's restaurants offer air conditioned in their installations because the heat is very severe at least in summer time. And I feel you should dressed your staff with clothing according to your weather. I felt very sorry about the staff wearing long sleeves and black clothes. The hotel staff very friendly and pleasant. the hotel very clean all the time. The only negative thing I saw was the last Friday I stayed there and I had to go to the big pool's bathroom and it was a very big mess at the end of the day. I feel in this bathroom you should put a lot of personal because is where the biggest quantity of people are hanging around. And I feel in the room's hall it should be have more light because the darkness attract the mosquitoes that usually get into your room.
The other negative thing was the reservation system for the specialty restaurants, most of them should be made very early in the morning, you are on vacation you don't want to be on a schedule.
But overall I recommend a lot the hotel and its staff."

"The guest service needs to be trained on how to treat customers better. Overall I would say about half of the workers were very helpful. One particular at the front desk was very rude and cold. My wife had wanted a cup of coffee at 11pm and the only place to get the coffee was at the sports bar in which we had tried and the bar tender said the coffee machine was broken. I went to the front desk to ask where we can get one and the front desk clerk told me at the sports bar and I told him that the bar tender told me the coffee maker was broken. He responded by saying oh well then there is nothing he can do and started to walk away. I asked if I could speak to a manager and he said there was no one he could call and that the manager was walking around the resort and he had no access to him. I asked for their customer service # and he gave me the booking reservation #, completely waste of time. My take is that if you encounter a problem they will not help you and do anything about it.
.
The maid, bartenders and food staff were extremely friendly but the reservations for dinner were a challenge. They have very limited seating and the reservation host was not very helpful.
The entertainment was great everyday as my family loved it.

"I would highly recommend this hotel in San Cabo to all of my friends. I found it very clean and the staff was extremely friendly. The food was also very good. My only complaint would be the reservation system for their 4 restaraunts. You had to get up early to try and book a table and you could only do one reservation a day. However, getting up early was worth the quality of the meal."

When i called to change my room to one that was awful they showed me another room that was pretty much the same thing. Bad 5 day trip would have rather stayed home. :("

There are six pools to choose from, three of which have a swim-up bar. There is always food available. The staff is very friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel. "Upon arrival, I was immediately taken by the beautiful architecture of the resort. The staff was very welcoming. The entertainment staff provided a wonderful environment at all hours of the day. We took a water taxi to see the arches and only paid $15/person. The enrtertainment staff also took guests 'bar hopping'. They stayed the entire night. There's a $20 fee & a taxi will pick you up from resort at about 11pm & return to resort at about 3am. Alcohol is included for females, but males do need to buy their drinks. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, & we can't wait to go back!"

"My NOW fiance and i have four words to describe our experience at the Riu Santa Fe in Cabo San Lucas... 'A DREAM COME TRUE'. It felt amazing there how everything was free, you could literally walk up to the bar order, margaritas, adios, shots, dos equis, tecate, corona, and everything was free! All the buffets were nice, elegant and delicious! The restaurants at night (reservations only) were incredible! Nothing like a FIVE star restaurant with the view of the beach at night, This resort provided awesome activities, hilarious karaoke night, and great romance scenes. Go to the beach!!!, there are horse back riding, wave runner's, taxi boats and much more activities to do at the beach. The resort also gave good snacks 24/7 in the sports bar. They also have a club within the resort and ALSO all the workers there are really nice and helpful! TRUST ME, from one vacationer to another.,.. Stay here.... you won't regret the incredible experience..."

Great location from the marina and downtown Cabo ($12.00 USD) cab ride and 10 minutes away. Cons; if you are looking for pure luxury, this isnt the place for you. At best this is a 4- Star hotel. But realistically, more like a 3.5 star. Hope this helps."

"Fine resort, well run and very efficient. Food excellent, staff can't do enough to satisfy. One flaw that seems to be overlooked in this resort is the availability of cash.......both cash machines (ATM) out of service the two weeks we stayed. That has to have an impact on the stores in the resort. If one is forced to take a taxi downtown to obtain cash it means the cash is not staying in the resort. And if you want to reward the great service by their staff it is difficult with only 50.00 bills in your wallet...."

"I had a wonderful time! The resort was clean, food was good, and staff was absolutely wonderful :) From the very beginning, Sergio, the EPIC driver that picked us up from the airport, was friendly and made us feel at home. The bartenders were awesome! I can't say enough about the bartenders that worked the BRAVO bar! They learned we were there to celebrate a birthday and they made sure we never had an empty glass in front of us. Additionally, they contentiously prepared various types of shots for us and the people around us. They were friendly, fast, and performers. They all worked well as a team. We realize we stayed at an all-inclusive hotel but we still tip occasionally. Some times we tipped more than others, but regardless, the service was superior throughout our stay.
The resort is great for families & singles. Children had their own special pools so that made it real nice for us adults that wanted to enjoy the water but not getting splashed from screaming children. My only complaint is that the building we stayed at didn't have an elevator. We stayed on the 3rd floor and it was a challenge climbing those stairs, especially after a few drinks. Other than that, wonderful experience! I'll definitely return; however, I will ask for a room on the 1st or 2nd floor."

"The hotel was beautiful and offered everything you'd need in an all inclusive. However, the staff sent mixed signals. Some were pleasant and helpful but most acted as though they didn't care. I often felt that I was being ignored or put off. The Maid service was spectacular though. The drinks were watered down and slow to arrive. Food was hit or miss. Sometimes it was Tasty and creative, othertimes fast food was of higher quality. The hotel definitely wanted to steer everyone to the buffet. The one night we ate at a reservation only restaurant made me glad It was only one evening. It was the worst service and steak I've ever eaten! All in all, I was dissappointed."

"I could not recommend this place more! We stayed for a whole week in May and i was not disappointed by picking the Riu Santa Fe at all! If you want outstanding customer service stay at the Riu Santa Fe. The entertainment through out the day and night was great! The rooms were always clean and they always stocked your fridge with more water, pop, and beer. You never ran out or needed to call for more. The food was the only downside, but it is all-inclusive and you aren't paying extra for it, so we really can't complain and it wouldn't stop us from coming back!
The bartenders are funny and always make you feel welcome. You never run out of alcohol or food through out the day. The staff was constantly cleaning the whole resort and the pool. I'm a clean freak and this place was definitely up to my standards. Since the resort is made out of cement, your neighbors were never too loud (which was nice.) I've never felt more at home and we will be returning, no doubt about that!"

"If it wasn't for the group I was with I would've complained the whole time and probably went to another resort! The food was horrible and of poor quality, the bread was dry, fruit was frozen and discolored from the previous day and the drinks were watered down. I went 2 days without my mini bar being restock and when I was for more beer to make up for the lack of service the hotel employee ask, 'how much money?' If i wanted anything that the local stuff considered 'more' they would always ask how much money I was willing to pay. I know the staff mainly lives off of tips but c'mon. The resort is a quick taxi ride ($12 total) or $1 per person local bus ride away from town so we went into town to explore quit a bit. The buffets at the hotel were great - amazing variety. Had great dinners at the Mexican and Italian restaurants. The drinks weren't the greatest, but again - they were free. I loved that they stocked the room with beer, soft drinks and water every few days. The hotel and pools are clean and gorgeous. Had a fantastic trip and hope to return!!"

"On my second day I was awakened by hammering in the room next door. This started very early and continued until I was forced to request another room. At no time did the staff to manager apologize. The room I was moved into was infested with mosquitos. I do mean infested, hundreds. When I complained and asked for another room I was refused. They offered only to spray. That helped for the next day but each day I had to make a special request at the front desk. On day 3, 4, 5 and 6 I was again wakened but sawing and hammering. Again I was told there were no other rooms and was stuck. I go on vacation to get rest and escape from the day to day annoyances. If these are among your vacation criteria then this is not the place to stay. I will also say the staff (front desk) seemed unconcerned with my satisfaction and did very little to remedy the discomforts one should never have to encounter at a resort. After the spraying there were dead bugs everywhere for the entire week, even right after cleaning. The vanity, bathroom mirror and my bed were littered with mosquito corpses. Disgusting! On a positive note, the facility is lovely and the food was much better than average for an all inclusive most days. Overall I can't recommend this resort. I go to Mexico twice a year and this was my worst experience by far."

"This was our second stay at the RIU Santa fe the service was great, the ground amazing as always the staff will bend over backwards to make your stay trouble free. This year i took my dad that is 61 this year he had as much fun as we did. The only negitive was that it was hard this year to change money to the peso a tip if you go to town to the bank because the hotel will not change the dollar to peso is you must take your passport, last year they did change money at the front desk but will no longer do it. Some beds are due to be changed but for the money it was a place to sleep. I will continue to return to this resort."

"Although the resort is huge and the employess dispassionate about their jobs, what we remember the most was the hard awful beds, the lack of proper or correct information, and the less than friendly personal. Luckily we were in the 7th area of the resort and although we paid for ocean view, it simply meant lean over your balcony and look towards the ocean. Some clients were very obnoxious in the wee hours of the morning, yelling, swearing and slamming doors. We even had 'lost' people show up at our door, drunk! This could happen anywhere though. The one truly annoying thing was trying to get dinner reservations at the steak restaurant, the concierge told us to come before 8am to book our reservations and we tried several times, only to find out the restaurant had been booked up days in advance. What is the point of stopping everyday early in the morning if they book in advance? The mini bar was stocked daily and appreciated. The cleaning staff was very good in our section as well. The liquor cabinet did not get restocked every 2 days as the hotel said so when you and your spouse only enjoy the one type of liquor, you can easily run out before 2 days. The staff at the bars were NOT the happy bartenders you expect to see, sure they have a bunch of drunks to deal with, but we all know the tips are well worth it. If I were to go back to Cabo, I would certainly be looking for a diferent hotel to stay at."

"We went frm April 5-10, 2012. My husband and I brought our boys 14 & 9 years old. The staff was super friendly and the resort was very clean. The buffet was great. They had fresh daily selection of fruits & main courses. During our stay the service at the restaurants was inconsistent. The family pool is heated and the main pool was cold during our stay. The beach was beautiful but be careful if you swim as currents are rough. Only negative comments would be the bed was hard and would need many more pillows. Taxi service to & from the airport were $15 per person w/40 min drive. We would recommend and will come back again. The value exceeded the price."

"We were very disappointed in the rooms and on many occasions (everyday) I asked for the same things to be fixed - we left and still not addressed Lamp did not work Fridge in room did not work Toilet ran constently Overall the food was very poor, dont even wast your time on trying to make reservations at the specialty resteraunts as they are not any better... we ended up going 4 out of 7 nights into town for dinner.... I overall like this hotel chain in the past but this one was a huge disappointment and really feel not i would like my money back...."

"Our kids are 5 and 7 and the teenagers were misbehaving in the pool, enough to where they had to evacuate the pool. We usually stay in San Jose and tip a lot because of being from Vegas and we want good customer service. The bartenders and servers were absolutely miserable with their jobs and not appreciative of the tips we were giving so we just stopped."

"They did not have any more rooms with the oceanview, so we were lucky enough to get a free upgrade to the Palace allowing us to use facilities at both resorts (side-by-side, same site.) My impressions were good, but recommend mandatory to get the ocean view, otherwise you get stuck in one of the complexes further back in the resort without any view what soever. This site has an incredible view of the beach resorts extending to the marina and along the rocks up to Los Arcos, so definitely definitely it is worth to pay a bit more to get the view and be closer to the beach. Having said all that, I have to say that the Palace exceeded my expectations all around, the selection of restaurants and buffets was great and all the food was fantastic. The pools were great and never had trouble to find a good spot and friendly staff always available to get whatever drink you wanted (one of every kind with an umbrella in it :) The day events (pool exercise, etc.) were well participated and fun, and always a couple shows and live band you could attend at your leisure in the evenings. The pool closes at about 7pm but you could hear the music and entertainment from your room, however, by 11pm the shows would be over so I didn't really find that to be a problem. Staff were very pleasant and friendly and always available. We had a pool and partial ocean view, which was Fantastic! I have to say this site has one of the best views I have ever seen. Also the Palace is beautiful architecturally and well designed. My favorite place to kick back with a drink was on the huge lounge area that opened into a veranda with fantastic views all along the beach, the cruise ships anchored a little further out, and all the water activities going on. There are water activities from the hotel or from the marina which is about 5-10 min away, just a short cab ride or water taxi when available. There are a lot of options, so be sure to try a couple activities, we did scuba, evening dinner cruise, and para-sailing. ... actually, do the para-sailing, you don't get wet, right off the boat, peaceful once you are up in the air and a wonderful way to get a view of the beach resorts and Cabos (double = $90). I used to avoid Cabos, because I thought that was the cheap mans vacation, but I have to say I have stayed at places costing 3x as much, and I much preferred Cabos views and as a resort destination and the Palace as a very pleasant resort to stay at. Viewing some of the other resorts in the same area, which were very good also, still I am very happy we ended up at the Palace, it would still be my first choice. (Just to be clear again, we stayed at the Palace which is on the same site, but higher end. Wife says she 'loves Cabos' Cheers and have a fantastic vacation! We Did :) "

"Pool were great, food in specaility restaurants were pretty good, dinner buffet was not so good. Beds unconfrontable and small, room clean. Mini bar never stocked ran out of water and beer. When you called you had to call back several times. Close to town and easy to get to. Dont spend the money on ocenn view as you really only get a pool view and lean over the balcony view of the ocean."

"We had a great time. The place was very clean, food was above average and it was very relaxing. I would go again in a heartbeat. Reviews of the non-swimmable beach are a little off. A couple of days, the waves were pretty big, but the last day or two, the waves were small and many kids were playing in the water. It just depends on the weather out at sea and what waves are coming in at the time. Regardless, you could swim in the ocean about 5 minutes down the beach. The italian restauant had the best food. The mexican and steak restaurants were good as well. We were there 6 nights, and had to book most of the restaurant reservations for later in the trip, as the first couple nights were already booked. The buffets always had plenty to choose from and were pretty good. No good food after 10pm though, only bad nachos, old hotdogs and hamburgers in the sports bar. AFter eating all day, who really needs more food though!"

"This is a nice resort. The food is fairly good (pretty typical of all inclusives) but by the end of the week the buffets get a little tiresome. The A La Carte restauraunts and the drinks are mediocre. The surf is great, although the beach is not great for swimming, but there's lots of room in the pools. The place is very clean and the grounds are extremely well kept. Rooms are nice. All around the Riu offers good bang for the buck. This is good family resort. The best thing about it is definitly the staff. This seems to be a trademark of the Riu's from what we've seen, but the people here are exceptional. We've stayed in nicer resorts, but the friendly, helpful staff here is second to none. If you're looking for a really fancy resort with gourmet food, this may not be the place for you. However if you're looking for a nice place to relax by the pool and great service, you'll enjoy the Riu Santa Fe."

"We found the Hotel Riu Santa Fe to be very clean, and the staff were very helpful, friendly. Many speak fairly good English, and or get someone to translate. The food was excellent and there was many choices. The pool bars offered great drinks, the staff were great, just a little slow, however it is Spring break time, and there were many thirsty people. I would like to see the hotel get more lounge chairs for the guest. If you don't reserve one and your area by the pool by 8:00, then you will be sitting on the concrete or the sand. The staff did a great job entertaining people."

"We have just come back from our stay and overall it was a nice stay. HOWEVER, when we arrived the lady who checked us in said will need to make reservations for the a la carte (which is normal), we thought it would be no problem getting a few reservations for at least 3 restaurants over the 8 nights we were staying. The gentleman who was dealing with reservations was the most unhelpful person I have ever dealt with. He gave us one reservation and then said there was no more room for other restaurants, which is quite funny as when other people came he was giving them 2-3 reservations at a time..I suppose it depends on his mood!!! Also, if you are travelling with young kids, try not to go at spring break for US. It can be very loud especially at night - there were 3 nights where people were so loud and drunk, they woke my kids up. It does say family friendly and on the whole it is but the kids club is so tiny, we decided on not using it at all. The buffet we found was the best food and make sure you see the michael jackson show - EXCELLENT. On the whole, people are nice and very friendly."

"We loved the resort we met some friends down there and we all had a very enjoyable time. The resort is gorgeous , the pools are beautiful and refreshing. The rooms were clean and the staff worked hard to keep the entire resort clean, safe, and trouble free. The staff were very friendly and accomodating always trying to expand our Espanol vocabulary too funny! Have you ever tried to learn a foreign language on an all inclusive holiday? The Buffet was good and always had a nice assortment of dishes, local and western; could of used some ketchup and peanut butter though. Our bar staff were incredibly generous even when they knew we had reached our alcohol limit for the day. We are planning to go back again and particpate in the excursions that were available. We walked to and from Cabo san Lucas a good 35 minute walk along the beach but loved the activities with the local vendors, bars, and restaurants along the beach. The local people are so friendly and they embrace tourism. We were truly the party people and had an amazing time every night . if you wanted to get sleep not going to happen in the night but a 'snap' along side the pool during the day was always something we looked forward to. Many thanks to the resort for a most memorable and joyful experience."

"Our Cabo experience was absolutely fabulous! Great hotel and resort. All inclusive was right up our alley - buffets were good (no serious complaints) and the staff was very friendly and courteous. We learned to book our excursions 'prior' to the trip this time - much, much cheaper - lesson learned. All in all, it was a great experience and would definitely do it again!"

"we where there 4-9-2013 thru 4-15-2013 To start if off we where told we where getting a garden view and got a parking lot view smelling fumes coming from the cars. We went there for my husbands birthday and made resavations at the front desk for special birthday dinner with cake at 7:00 pm. We show up at 6:55 pm and they said there was no resavations at 7:00 that they didn't know anything about it so there for no special steak dinner for his birthday. We are a couple who are in our early 50s and had to climb 6 flights of stairs to the very top with no elevators no where in the hotel. The beds are terrible and hard and our room service was terrible, They didn't change our towels daily and didn't clean our room or make our bed one day just totally forgot about us. Also called the front desk for a wake up call 2 different times they called up 20 minutes late when we had to get up on time for activitys that we had paid for at a certain time or you loose your money if your not there on that time. So there for he had to rush around and on to make it. The hotel is was to big and takes for ever to get to anything. The food was cold a lot of the times too. I would have to say it was not a good trip for my husbands birthday and he was very upset."

"I would echo most of the comments here except for the uncleanly rooms.
Pros: Beautiful pools, well manicured grounds, clean Room, friendly staff, breakfast buffet was excellent, main buffet at night was better than lunch buffets.
Cons: uncomfortable bead, having to make reservations for mediocre restaurants (don't even waste your time). Getting into the tub could be very difficult for someone who is very short or has any disability.
Very few call brands, no top self. Tipping is not expected but is appreciated.
The drinks were watered down but better than having too many drunks. Having stayed at a Dreams in Cancun my comparison is not on the same par. I would not say this is a 5 star hotel based on US ratings. More like a 3. If you have never been to an all inclusive and have nothing to compare it to you will probably be pleased. I don't think we would visit Cabo again but don't regret our trip. "

"OUR STAY WAS GREAT WITH T EXCEPTION OF BATHROOM NEEDS SOME ANTI-ODORANT OR AN AIR SCAPE FLOW FOR THE ODOR AND HUMIDITY. ANOTHER MINUS FROM OUR PART WAS THAT IT WAS SO HARD TO BOOK FOR A DINNER AT THE RESTAURANTS THAT OFFER FORMAL DINNER OF THE 5 NIGHTs WE COULD ONLY BOOK FOR DINNER ON SUNDAY NITE THEN ANYOTHER DAY WAS BOOKED EVEN IF CAME IN IN PERSON AS EARLY AS OF 8AM,BUT OVER ALL THE STAY WAS GREAT THE STAFF,BAR TENDERS,ENTERTAIMENT AND MAINTAENANCE PEOPLE WERE OUTSTANDING! ONE COMPLAINT IS THAT WE WERE SENT TO CABO IN A ONE STOP IN ST FRANCISCO WHICH WAS OK BUT OUR RETURN TO L.A. WAS CABO TO HUSTON,TX TO L.A. A LONG 6HRs FLIGHT THAT WAS TOO UNCONFORTABLE FOR A RETURN HOME THAT SHOULD HAVE TAKEN NO MORE THAN 3 HRS.THE WEATHER WAS GREAT AND WE TRULY ENJOYED OUR TRIP."

"We booked a stay at the Riu Santa Fe for the week of August 11th - 18th. Upon arrival we found the hotel to be very picturesque, clean and the staff to always be friendly, and we were very much looking forward to our week.
On Sunday we started to notice an awful smell in our room (room 6107). It was hard to describe - somewhere between the smell of sewerage and decay. By Monday it was quite unbearable and we mentioned it to the housekeeping staff who happened to be in the hallway. The manager of the housekeeping staff came in and sprayed the walls with some kind of disinfectant which helped to cover the smell, but then she pulled out a can of Raid and proceeded to completely fog up the room with the insect repellent. We were trying to get her to stop as the smell of the Raid defogger was worse, plus the fact that we were all standing right there and shouldn't be breathing it in, but she was adamant that it was what they used to kill the smell. We were relegated to the balcony to wait out the worse of it, and then we had to leave the balcony doors open to try to dissipate the odor.....and the air conditioning does not work when the balcony doors are open. At any rate, the original smell came back with a vengeance by Tuesday morning and we requested to have our room changed. We mentioned the Raid incident to the front desk and were told that yes, that was the protocol used. We were moved to another room directly above where we were (room 6206). This was somewhat better for a day or two, but then that room started to get the odor as well. We decided not to pursue another room because of the problems that followed.
On Tuesday it started to rain - hard. The rain continued all the way through Thursday night. This was, of course, no fault of the hotel staff in any way, shape or form, but unfortunately they were woefully unprepared for it. The building we were in (building six) was flooded and lost power. Fortunately the power was only out for one day, but unfortunately the entire hotel did not have any running water for several days. This presented a very serious health hazard. We were actually filling the rooms trash barrel with rain water to flush our toilet, and in order to do this we had to go up and down several flights of wet, slippery stairs as there was no elevator. Once the power came back on it was only partial - therefore no air conditioning and the rooms became unbearably hot and humid. Aside from the health hazards of having no running water, the other safety issue was that there were power extension cords running everywhere through the water - many of which were covered with duct tape.
Through all of this, the hotel staff did the best they could under the circumstances. They were constantly busy trying to keep the water from continuing to flow down the hallways and flood peoples rooms - and this was on every floor of the hotel, not just the ground floor, as all openings and window areas are completely open to the elements. Very quickly they ran out of towels as they were all being used to sop up water in the hallways, and of course they could not wash any towels or linens as there was no water. Unfortunately, in our building they placed a generator on the bottom floor to pump the water out of the building, and this was running nonstop for days (was still going when we left on Sat.). The sound of the generator was extremely loud, and the smell of the fuel running it was eye-watering.
Beginning Wednesday there were very limited selections from the all-inclusive restaurants (understandably) and the four 'specialty' restaurants were only serving buffet style food like the main restaurant. The restaurants did the best they could, but it was difficult for all involved as there was literally water leaking from the light fixtures themselves. Ceilings were leaking everywhere and this created a very unsafe environment for everyone.
By Thursday people were obviously getting upset. There was no power, no water, no air conditioning, and absolutely no communication about the situation from the management of the hotel to any of the guests. On Friday the two remaining open bars ran out of ice. The hotel made the decision to only serve beer and shots of alcohol to the guests. This was a very unwise decision. We understand that they were trying to keep the guests happy, but the result was that there were many, many overly-intoxicated people on the premises. We personally witnessed three very loud verbal fights, and had to deal with a naked man passed out right outside of our room sleeping in the hallway. It was at this point on Friday that we made the decision to leave and try to find a place for dinner where there was power and safe water.
On Friday it was very difficult to get bottled water. We had been asking for days to have our rooms refrigerator restocked, but it never was. When we asked at the bars and restaurants for a bottle of water to drink, we were told we had to go to the front desk. When we asked for this water at the front desk, we were told they were out and it would be at least an hour before they were able to get more. This was unacceptable.
It was from word of mouth from one guest to another that we found out on Friday that the hotel was actually transferring guests to other hotels in the area that had power and water, as well as the fact that the hotel management was giving out vouchers for a free weeks stay in any Riu to be used within the next year. At the time we found out about this, it was very late on Friday night, and the line to see the manager about this was several hours long. We decided to get some sleep and try to see the manager about this voucher in the morning on Saturday before we left. We asked at the front desk and was told the manager to see would be in at 8AM. By 7:30am on Saturday morning the line to see the manager was already extremely long. We packed up and waited in line until 11AM when we had to leave for the airport without seeing the manager about the voucher. We asked at the front desk what to do and we were given this email address to write to for the voucher.
We are respectfully asking the Riu chain to honor the voucher that the manager was giving out at the time, and we were unable to obtain. We were told that the hotel was giving out a voucher for the amount of nights the guests were there during that week. We were there for a total of seven nights. We have sent an email to the Riu hotel chain and are awaiting their response.

"We stayed at the Riu for only two days (2 adults, 2 kids), but we enjoyed it very much. A huge complex, the biggest buffet I ever saw (and I have been around). Great new room (we had third floor ocean view with balcony). Only the water in the pools was a little on the cold side in comparison to the hotel in San Jose del Cabo where we had spend the previous week.
A good place to party and drink, but we would also return with kids."

"This was the worst resort I have ever been to. The rooms smell and are not sound proof. You hear everything from people walking down the hallway to closing of doors to people talking and watching and hearing their TV. The whole area of the resort stinks like it's was built on a land filled.. I mean is smell like we was next to a cattle field. They say they have seven restaurants but it is really only five. The convert 2 of the buffets into a steak house and something else.. I never had a chance to try them because you had to make a reservation and it was up to a three day wait. The three buffet style places basically served up the same menu to if you're there for more than 3 days, you will be tire of it all. They say they have a sports bar but it is just an arcade with pool table and games for the kids. It has a bar but they could not show the NBA playoff games due to they did not have TNT. The food in this bar is so nasty. They have pre made hot dogs, burgers that are so bad that after enough people tried them that there was a stack of half eating one on the table. The nachos chips was so hard that none of us could bight through them and the nacho cheese was just so watered down that is had no taste. The only things that was ok was the cold cut sandwiches and the fruit bowls. Everything else was god awful. This place is only good for the Spring Break type crowds. A place to just get hammered by drinking and hanging out by the pool. If you stay drunk you won't care how bad the food is or how bad your room smells or how how the area smells.. You would just party... I'm 43 years old, I wanted to relax but couldn't because of all of the above.... Never again.... "

We waited no less than 20 minutes at the pool bars for drinks, the bartenders had horrible attitudes and no customer service, 4 of the 7 pieces of equipment at the gym were broken, We vacation several times a year with our 7 and 10 year old children and this experience was reprehensible. "All of the employees of the Rui Santa Fe were extremely professional. If I had a concern or a request they were there to honor my request. The hotel and grounds were clean every place you went. If you did not want to leave the hotel for shopping, vendors were allowed to sell their goods in the main quad. Activities were planned for the guests for the majority of the day. The price I paid for my vacation was the best part of all. I would definitely go back to the Rui Santa Fe."

"It was super busy. In fact the hotel was sold out. The staff were run off their feet. No wonder they were tired. Have had better rooms and food in the Riu Palace's, having said that in this location I would choose the Santa Fe. Oh, the pools were not heated, could not swim in the ocean, tides to strong. Also it was darn cold at night. You would have to bring a warm jacket. We were told this is their winter. Best time to Visit would be Sept.
First time here, got a nice tan and away from the snow. Still looking for my favourite place to go. I hear Grenada is very nice?"

"Bookit! provided an amazing service to me and my guests. As a marketing executive, I depend on customer service to make sure my clients are pleased. Bookit! did incredible job of attending to my needs when I had to change my hotel.
The Hotel Riu Santa Fe was a first class place. The 24-hour food situation was a little deceiving after 10:00 pm. The idea of just having food in the sports bar (that you heat up in the Microwave), was a joke, but the rest of the food during the day was worth the price of admission."

"The resort was great 2nd time there and still an awesome place to go. Can't recomed it enough. Mostly Canadians there and US Citizens treated as 2nd class by other travelers, But overall great party atmophere. Great views and so close to the marina district great variety. A MUST is Monkey Business Bar in the Marina area. Hand squeezed Margaritas, the BEST! Only $12 for cab ride into area but can walk beach to get there.
Epic trasportation to and from airport has a little to be desired, not too friendly or helpful.
Did the Caboret Dinner cruise 6 of us spent over $700 us for lobster dinner to get cold food twice. Very disapointing.
Went to other rest. in marina area got 2-10 oz filets mignions, 2 lobster tails, 6 shrimp & 1 fish fillets all for only $80. Unbeleivably good.
So glad to finally be home.

"Great Hotel, and wonderful room. Peaceful and beautiful. We parasailed and took the boat over to Lovers Beach for a day!! Awesome time and beautiful place to visit! Only problem was that the advertisement stated that the Riu was on the swimable beach of Medano~ did not find this to be true for us. Now if we walked 30-40 min through the heavest deposit of rock or marble like sand we have ever seen, then yes this part of Medano beach is swimable! Nevertheless, we traveled around the are and enjoyed San Lucas and San Jose!! The marine life is one of a kind!!"

"Just got back, the staff was super friendly! They always treated you like you were very important. Generally the food was very good, sometimes it was hard to decide what to eat due to all the options. We stayed for 5 nights and ate at the specialties restaurants 3 times. I think the steak house was the best, there was an awesome soup, make sure you wake up early add reservations start at 7am. We aren't big drinkers, but we did enjoy some pina coladas which were quite tasty. The wine wasn't very good. The beach is good minus the vendors trying to sell you a hat everyone you walk to the water... There was a red flag saying the water isn't swimmable. The water really should only be had fun by good swimmers that can withstand the crazy water pull from the waves. I floated on some 15 footers, super fun.
I would recommend bringing a bunch of $1 bills because you are going to want to tip these people, they are too nice! Stellar service with no expectation of tip."

"The swim up bar was not open. Staff at the outside bars, pools were not especially friendly or helpful. Staff at inside eating areas were much better and much friendlier.
The transportation from the hotel to various spots like downtown, WalMart, Golf Course was way way too expensive.
Shows were good.
Transportation from the airport to the Riu Santa Fe via Epic was perfect, but the return trip, for some reason we were passed off to Odyssey. As we sat in the van at the hotel, we waited on another couple. Finally driver went to the adjacent Riu Hotel and picked up another couple. Then he returned to the Riu Santa Fe and we waited again. Finally he said they would have to take a Taxi to the airport, and we got underway. Then much to our surprise we went into San Jose del Cabo to pick up another couple. Then we went on a tour of downtown San Jose del Cabo in stop & go traffic to airport. It took us from our 11:15 pick up time almost 2 hours to go 28 miles.
Riu in Cancun was way better."

"A couple of mates and I went to the RIU Santa Fe for a week long holiday and it was honestly the best hotel we've ever stayed at! The staff were so fun and friendly, they even took us out for a night on the town. The rooms were great, and the all inclusive food and drinks made the trip so easy and relaxing. We will definitely be returning to the RIU Santa Fe in the future!"

"My wife and I went to Riu Santa Fe for our honeymoon and the hotel/resort was amazing! Everything there was perfect. The only trouble we had was on our way back, our flights were too close together and we were forced to miss our connecting flight from Phoenix, Arizona back to Charolotte, North Carolina. Other than that, our trip was amazing, we will definately be returning to Riu Santa Fe and maybe even check out the Riu Palace!"

"Another awesome vacation, perfect weather, fantastic views of the ocean. I love RIU Santa Fe. The staff there are so nice. We caught the Michael Jackson tribute show - really something to see, a great impersonation of MJ. I like many different area's Santa Fe has - we call some the party pools - with swim up bars & infinity pool & jacuzzi. Then there is a huge fountain pool where the staff conducts games, water volley ball etc.- very entertaining if you just want to sunbathe or join in. Then there are more laid back area's if you just want peace & quiet. I do suggest making reservations at their specialty resteraunts. The food was great - we tried the asian specialty and the italian specialty resteraunts - the staff is amazing, so friendly & professional. All of the locals in this area are also so friendly -- no problems at all."

"The hotel was very clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved it and are hoping to return next year. The only thing I would change would be to have the gift shop carry more clothing items. Our luggage was mishandled by the airlines and we didn't received it until 28 hours after our arrival. There were no undergarments or footwear and hardly any swimsuits, trunks, or t-shirts to purchase."

"I took my daughter to the Hotel Riu Sante Fe for her graduation from high school gift & it was wonderful. The staff was nice,( well there was one lady in the little shop that sold goodie to eat that was not nice once the whole week we were there but I don't think she works for the motel.) The food was decent for the price of the place. The pools were awesome & so was the view. The bars were great other then they close to early & the sports bar was not fun & did not have good food. (it stays open 24 hours) The entertainment was not great but better then nothing. It was a very relaxing vacation & I would highly recommend this place. "

"just returned from a week in Cabo, with only one complaignt. my wife and I have enjoyed cruises for the last 6 years, but decieded to give book-it and the riu santa fe a try. well no more cruises for us. this week has been the most relaxing and satisfing we have ever spent together.this resort is fantastic, the grounds have a blend of the tropics and desert landscape that defy discription, the cleanliness of this resort is close to being obsesive, the food at all 6 venues is very good and with almost unlimited selection,![for an all enclusive] the staff very helpful and friendly [but am tired of saying hola] the rooms nicer than expected as well as the stocked free bar. the arraingement thru book-it went without a hitch. we cant wait to return next season [but with friends and family]. ps to those reviews that complaigned about mosquitos, we never saw a one."

"My teenage kids and I stayed at the Hotel Riu Sante Fe for one week and had a fantastic time. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. There are 4 restaurants on site as well as a huge buffet for all 3 meals so the choice is yours. Be sure to book your dining at the restaurants in advance when you get there so as to try the different places. The hotel is imaculate and anything you need is taken care of immediately. Be sure and book some activities when your there. We swam with dolfins, ATV desert and beach tour with just us and a guide, and horse back riding as well as glass bottom boat to the rocks, arches and lovers beach. All were a blast!"

"Just returned from a trip to Cabo. We had an oceanview room that had a spectacular view of the ocean. The room was a standard hotel type room. The food at the buffets was great, however the restaurant food was not very good and not worth getting up to make a reservation for. There were tons of activites that you could schedule from the hotel and the staff was very friendly. It is definitely worth the price you are paying to stay there."

"For the price, it was a good experience. Food was okay, facilities were more than adequate and staff were helpful. Didn't like the Mexican vendors standing right in front of the beach waiting to hassle you to buy something. Also should think about adding some cabanas and covered areas on the sand to provide some shade to get people to utilize the beach area more. The views were magnificent!"

"This is our second trip to the Sante Fe. (Both visits in Sept.) Overall we had a great stay. The hotel is clean, has awesome pools, great staff, and it's only 5 minutes away from Downtown Cabo. The only negative I can comment on is the food. The food was decent, but we stayed for 5 days. After the 3rd day, we quickly got sick of eating the same items over and over again. (But it's all inclusive and I've stayed at 5 star all inclusive hotels and have the exact same complaint.) As they say..'It is what it is!' We just took a cab and went into town for dinner a few nights.
Where to go Downtown: Cabo Wabo has amazing food, and not to mention the best Tequila. We ate there twice, but went every single night for the entertainment. So much fun! The other place you have to go eat at is the Crazy Lobster! AMAZING!!!! It looks like a hole in the wall dive, but the food is sooo good and sooo cheap! (Just be sure to buy the staff a beer and you'll get double portions of Lobster!) WORTH IT!!!
Other things worth mentioning about our stay...
Building 7 is the best building to stay in. Also worth mentioning, they don't have top shelf liquor. (Not in the rooms or at the pools.) Baccardi was about the best we found. The vodka is smirnoff. (Not a fan.)
But overall, we had a great time, a lot of fun, and we'll be back next year for sure."

"We just got back from a weeks vacation and the location is absolutely amazing along with amazing views! Beach is beautiful however, water is very unpredictable. You have all kinds of activities at your finger tips i.e. horseback riding on the beach in front of the Hotel, jet ski's, para sail, banana boat, or catch a water taxi to downtown Cabo or to Los Arcos. Definitely request ocean view room and request building 7 for unbelievable views! Customer service is outstanding. Hotel and grounds are very well maintained. Food is OK (not as good as the Riu in Cancun). Local vendors are very nice and respectful. Total amazing trip and cannot wait to return. Would definitely stay at Riu Santa Fe again."

"It took us a while to decide on a hotel/resort for Cabo since we've heard of so many out there, but we made the perfect choice! The Riu is AWESOME!! The rooms were spotless, and they refilled your beers, waters, sodas as many times as you wanted a day. The property was spotless, in the morning there were a ton of staff, dozens cleaning the floors, statues, pool, everything!!! I was amazed! The 3 infiniti pools and all the swim up bars were just what we needed for the sunny skies. I'D DEFINITELY GO BACK, GO TO RIU SANTA FE!!! You'll love it! We didn't go to the Palace next door, but we didnt feel the need to. Santa Fe had it all, including tennis, basketball, pools everywhere, bars, billiards, arcades, table tennis, you name it, they have it! "
