"We had a great time at this resort and would definitely return. Beautiful clean beach and grounds, great big pools, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms. The shows at night were quite good- we were very impressed by the dancers and singing. The resort is quite big compared to others we have stayed it, but it was nice to have a little bit of a walk to get to places, and we felt like we were walking in the rainforest when we took the paths... lots of greenery, iguanas, birds etc.
The only thing I would've changed about the resort was the food. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as some of the other resorts we have stayed at. We did 2 meals at the full-service restaurants and found the Spanish restaurant (Don Quixotes) to be bland, but the Mexico Restaurant (Agave) was fantastic.

Overall, we had a lovely time, and would return to this resort.

"Just got back and had an absolutely amazing time!! Definitely recommend this resort without any hesitation! Beautiful place! Rooms were nice place was very clean. Lots to do staff very friendly and helpful. Food was good. Buffets were good we enjoyed them for breakfast & lunch. We thought they had good variety. Made to order omelets for breakfast, a TON of fresh fruits!, cereal bar, mexican dishes, mimosa bar!! For dinner we visited a different a la cart restaurant each night. Our favorite was Kyoto the Japanese hibachi, sooo good! Had the surf n turf highly recommend! The worst was the Capt Morgan seafood. We couldn't even finish the lobster it was so over cooked.
The tours were amazing as well you have to see Tulum & Xel-ha!! you won't regret it! Chichen Itza was spectacular as well!
Also highly recommend upgrading to premium! It was without a doubt worth it for my boyfriend & I! Only thing I wish is that we had more days there!! I would definitely go back to Barcelo Maya!"

"Our first time to Mexico. Our experience was fabulous. Buffets are good , but like anywhere, after a week of them you want your own favorites. The beach was great great from one end to the other. Amazing how it varied from lush sandy beach to a beautiful more rocky beach, which was still useable and great snorkeling. Seen sea turtles snorkeling down by the palace end. We were able to drink at all poolbars but the palace's, unlike other reviews said. Aldimerz at the Caribe lounge bar was awesome, as was the Caribes poolbar tenders.These people are fun and make you feel welcome, except one of there bosses didnt like them talking to you while working.He wasn't around all the time thouhg lol. This place is great and we will be back next year. We did not encounter any negatives as others may have posted in some reviews. They were prolly just picky grumps that thinks the world owes them. Go Mexicoooo!!!"

"This was our first time in Mexico, doing all-inclusive and staying with Barcelo, and it will not be our last! We picked this place based on referral from a friend of ours who is a repeat customer with this location, and we definitely were not disappointed. The staff were fabulous - they were always friendly and attentative. The food at the buffets were actually higher quality than expected. We liked that fact that they had a different cuisine theme every night. The beaches were gorgeous. We stayed in the Caribe complex and the waves in that area were calmer and less rocky than the beaches at the Colonial and Palace areas of the resort. Most importantly, this place is very kid friendly. We have a 2 year old son who enjoyed all the kiddie water areas and the playgrounds. The buffets offered kid friendly foods (i.e. french fries, hot dogs, cereals, juices, chicken fingers, pizzas), so we didn't struggle getting him to eat. Thank you Barcelo! See you next year"

"Our trip was amassing. The food was good as well as the resort. It was very clean and the staff was very nice and helpful! Bathe only thing that would have to complain about was the beds and pillows... Not comfortable at all. As they say, no bed is better than your own. "We had a great time. The resort is absolutely beautiful and the beach is gorgeous. Lots of people, but we still didn't feel crowded. Food at the buffets was surprisingly good, especially when you read the horror stories about other resorts. Drinks were good, nightly entertainments was 'entertaining'. We would definitely go back to Barcelo......thinking about our next trip already!"

"My wife and I and another couple also celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary had a GREAT time. The selection of food and drinks was excellent. We always had plenty of both. All of the staff from the maids to the food servers were all very nice and attentive.
Our Fat-Cat snorkling adventure was a blast too! The crew was attentive and fun.
Even when a low grade huricane was coming in, it was amazing to see the staff go into action to secure the facility for the safety of the vacationers. By the next morning things were right back in place like nothing ever happened.

I just need to learn more Spanish!! We willl definitetly return."

"This was the first time that we took our two teenage girls to Mexico. We had a late flight and some luggage did not make the flight. By the time we got to the hotel we were exhausted. To our surprise the room was gorgeous. The girls ordered room service that was excellent. The rest of the luggage was delivered to our room the following morning. I had one happy teenager. The beach was pristine and beautiful. We took the girls snorkeling. It was a fabulous experience. The food was fantastic.The only regret is that we should have stayed longer. We will definatley be back."

"Our experiance at Barcelo was excellent. The food buffets are clean and there is plenty to pick from with main course changes each night. for those who like to workout the gym was awesome it's located outside with jungle surroundings plenty of cardio eqiupment and top notch weight machines. The beach is huge, clean and always has a spot to sit. The location of resort is close to many sites such as mayan ruins and snorkeling trips (although there is free snorkeling at resort) u really never need to leave the grounds. Nightly entertainment and the sports bar are excellent. There is also shopping area for those in the mood to spend money. The grounds are spotless, beautiful and staff is great. We are looking forward to heading back soon."
