"It was not difficult to find staff who speak English. They are very friendly and accommodating. The buffet food can get a bit redundant, and some of the a la carte food leaves taste to be desired, but if you make reservations at Piccolo Restaurant, you'll be in for a lovely surprise. The food there was magnificent. Try the cream of asparagus soup, it's delectable. And if you must go off of the resort for food and don't want to go too far, there is a great Italian restaurant and pizzeria right down the street called La Quinta di Francesco. We went there three times during the week we stayed there. I should have ordered different kinds of food, but the first time we went we ordered a veggie pizza with an egg cracked on the top, and there was a full-fledged fiesta in my mouth! We ordered a different pizza each ensuing visit. I imagine if their pizza is that fantastic, their ricotta and spinach stuffed ravioli must be heaven. Anyway, the rooms at the Decameron were very clean. The reason why I gave the 'Staff Efficiency' section a 3 is because a few days the person who was to clean the room would come when we were there, and we'd ask if she could return in an hour. She'd say yes, but when we'd come back to the room 5 hours later, it hadn't been cleaned. Some people complain about the alcohol being watered down, and while that may be the case, we had some drinks that were delicious and made us feel great in the sun. One thing that was particularly annoying was that the Decameron has just ONE pool designated for adults only, but people would still bring their loud and splashing children into the pool. There were 4 other pools people, take the kids there! Not that I don't like kids, they're absolutely adorable, but when they kick potentially peed-in water into my drink, it makes me a little irked. Ok, what else... Oh yes! They have different activities everyday. I smashed on my boyfriend in ping-pong. They have a beach volleyball net, kayaks, and wind surfing equipment. They have trivia nights, a disco, bikes for rent. There's plenty to do. But it you want to leave the resort, there are also plenty of places to which you can travel, you just need a car. The area immediately surrounding the complex is quaint; there are a few shops and a bar on the second floor at the corner across the street from the complex where you can sing karaoke, which is a blast! But beyond that the area looks a bit run-down. Punta de Mita is beautiful as is the drive up to it. The beaches there are cleaner. But beware the presence of vendors really is incessant. Most of them are kind and leave once you say no thank you, but a few are relentless and want to show you everything. They're like that in Puerto Vallarta as well, especially near the flea market. Don't be afraid to just walk away if they're putting heavy pressure on you. So overall the experience was a great one. We stayed 8 nights and still fantasize about being back in the colorful complex, eating whenever we want, getting unlimited drinks until we stumble happily back to our air-conditioned room. I"
