We are on or 5 day here I'm here with my husband and 7 year old daughter and we love everything about this place. The resort is very small but the food is amazing the staff takes the time every day to talk to you and repetely ask if you need anything. Our room is the mini suite it is huge and beautiful we have two toilettes two showers one outside bath witch is private and beautiful. We found a quiet escape here, it was a perfectly relaxing holiday and we loved being up in the hills. If you like hustle and bustle this is not the place for you. We had the beautiful natural pool area mostly to ourselves and we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. The staff really cant do enough to help and are happy to deal with any requests you have and they were always friendly and hard working. From the moment we checked in we were so impressed with everything to the moment we left we could not find any negatives at all about Matlali Hills Resort. We are both over 70 and did not find the hilly resort a problem. For anyone who didn't feel like the walk back to your room there are buggies available 24/7. I am a Sirenis Premium Travelers (SPT) member and this was my first to this resort. My wife and I and friends (another couple) made this visit. The resort is quite small but very peaceful. The food and service were wonderful. We got to know that other guests and the staff quite well and had such a fun time! Staff members Olmi, Johan, and David were extremely courteous and helpful! So this resort has some good, bad and some ugly. Short story- enjoyed our stay, would not return. Its not a kid friendly place, it is quiet (which is good if you don't like a party atmosphere). First the good: food was good- especially if freshly made and you stay away from the buffet fare. They do have three "restaurants" however they rotate nightly and you need to make reservations. The hibachi restaurant was the best, followed by the steak house night. The bar service: The bartende... Read more

The resort is beautiful! The staff seems to care about our happiness. However, we keep getting lied to about the internet. We have been here for 4 days so far, and have asked about 4X a day about the free Wi-Fi they are supposed to provide. We continue to be told it will be fixed in 30min, or that a cable is cut, or that we need to be near the pool, or that we can only have 1 device synced, or later only 2 devices syned... clearly no one is telling us the truth since we spoke to other guests an... We were at this resort from March 5th to 12th 2016, We had a 2 bedrooms apartment in the Esmeralda Building. It was a 5 stars accommodation. The staff was wonderful. The activity ladies by the pool Laura and Gaby were so nice entertaining us Bingo Aqua fit. The bus drivers very helpful and friendly. It was very quiet which we like. we felt we had the place to ourselves. We were disappointed by the beach but we definitely would return to this resort.

Beautiful resort just a few teething problems. The showers and dressing area near the pool need to have a hairdryer and somewhere to plug in straighteners. They need to have a secure luggage area as at present it is left outside reception. They need to have signs giving information how to get to differant areas. Their is dome building work still taking place at the top of the resort so be aware you could have noisy cement lorries passing depending on your location. Having said all that it... Read more

I stayed at the resort June 20 - 27. I had a relaxing, fabulous time. My room was a jungle view up the road, high up on cement pillars. I had a gorgeous expansive view with a hammock where I watched a variety of exotic birds, one orange one would peek in my window daily. The room had a large, bright very open concept feel with wood and glass. There were different types available, but mine was a style that was meant for twosomes that were very comfortable with each other because the toilet was th... Read more

We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks and had a wonderful time but probably wouldn't return to this or another Serenis ownedproperty if this experience is reflective of them all. Our room was a suite with pool and was amazing too say the least. Sadly it didn't always get made up, frequently the supplies didn't get replenished and we had to ask twice for the pool to be cleaned due to it being green. Running out of shower gel and shampoo almost daily is frustrating too say the least and jumping in... Read more

Good thing first, accommodations, Master suite is excellent, big and fully equipped, 2 rooms, living room, kitchen, two doors fridge, marble table, private pool, 2 full baths, etc. This is an excellent option for a family. Our experience at this resort was a positive one leaving us ready to come back and recommend to some of our quieter non-party relatives UNTIL the last day. As you pull up you start to think we've made a mistake in this decision. The check-in process was painless and we even exchanged our US Dollars at the front desk, but be mindful of the exchange rate and value because we're pretty sure he made a slight profit in the process. My husband, myself and out 15 year old son have never in all of the times we've been to Mexico ever experienced anything like this. Do not expect good food, power, Internet, professional service from management, any service from waiters, a nice clean beach area, towels, cleanliness or cold water to drink.
