"Had a great stay at Barcelo PV. Staff overall was great. Sometimes service was hit and miss in the restaurants. One morning 5 waiters were serving you coffee, refilling water and clearing plates and the next you had to flag a waiter down for help. Location is beautiful. Easy to take bus into downtown PV($1) or taxi($10).
Nice to be at a resort where Mexican families also vacation. Pools were nice, grounds well kept. Game room was enjoyed by my kids. Not quite a 5-star resort in my opinion...unless you upgrade to the Premium package."

"We've been on all-inclusive trips before and this faired to be just average. It wasn't really 'all-inclusive' since we had to pay for room service and the mini bar only allowed 4 beers per day. Their alcohol choice was HORRIBLE. No Corona in mexico??!!!! Only beer options were Tecate and Sol. Their hard liquor choices were very below par too. You can pay extra ($30/day/person) for their 'club premium' which gives you upper level floors, free room srevices (not that great of a choice) and then access to a club premium room that has a bar full of premium alcohol (i don't know what b/c i didnt' get this option), that you have to make on your own!!.

The food was okay. Not horrible but not impressed at all. Same foods at the buffet pretty much all the tiem. The only thing we really enjoyed was their awesome taco bar that was open during the day. The Arco restaurant faired better than the other dine in restaurants on the property.

The sand on the beach was rough and the beach itself is just too small. Not very kid friendly.

The rooms were okay. We didn't have a huge complaint. However, we did stay in the family suite and and it wasn't really a 'suite' -- more like two rooms and two bathrooms adjoined by a connecting door type set up. The room closer to the door smelled musty and my mom had a hard time falling asleep.

WE didn't have much complaint about the staff. They were very friendly and service was pretty good.

IN the end, we enjoyed our vacation, but we definitely expected more after all the great reviews on tripadvisor. "

"owned by a different company now than before. used to be excellent now is old and dirty. Toilets were stained. Hair dryer burst into flames in my hand and took them 3 days to replace it (and only after I had written a letter to the manager). They only serve 2 types of beer...which are both dreadful and appeared unable to make a decent margarita or serve a good sipping tequila.

The food is below average except for the speciality restaurants which were better when you could get a reservation.

It is such a shame. Under the correct ownership/management this hotel could be really intimate and romantic but they really do not have a clue!"

"I just returned from a week long stay. It was an amazing experience--we had a group of 10 people and I think we all would say it was one of our best vacations ever. The airport transfers were seamless and efficient. The hotel grounds were well maintained and we definitely felt we were in a tropical paradise. We were concerned about safety and food quality since we had 6 teen age girls in our group. We had no problems what so ever with either concern--the property is incredibly safe - we were very comfortable letting our girls roam freely about the property. We are also thrilled to report that no one in our group of 10 had any food related issues. The variety and quality of the food was superb. Finally I would like to say that the absolute best thing about our stay was the service we received. The staff is amazing! They are all super friendly and go out of their way to make sure the guests at their resort have an enjoyable stay. We would absolutely go back to this resort!"

"was very upset that the premium package was needed to get into alacart rest. as the times were favored also even when the rest. were empty. also over half the people we talked to were very sick from something going around the hotel. when 3 of our group of 5 got sick the hotel denied anything was wrong or that the hadseen anyone else sick. after getting sick we noticed very poor food handling procedures by the staff. the rooms were great but the maids had to be asked to replace things like towels and soaps and drinks in mini bar"

"We had a Club Premium all inclusive booking, but found out from other guests with the same Club Premium, that we did not receive all of the amenities they received - i.e. a bottle of champagne in the room. The wine in the club was not acceptable. We were also not told that the City Tour was complimentary to Club Premium guests - we learned this from another guest.

The staff, however, was wonderful. This was our third trip to a Barcelo and we enjoy their facilities."

"I was in Barcelo resort from 10/ 3 to 10/09 and had a great time. I went with my parents and we stayed in a family suite which has two big bedrooms and two bathrooms. Rooms and bathrooms are good size and very clean. It was 90 degree outside all the time and we were the running air conditioner non-stop, so it was very comfortable in the room. The food at the buffet i think was much better then at the restaurant and we visited them all. We liked everything - beach, pool, entertainment, I think for a week of vacation this is all you need and you have to give people credit, they really trying to make your stay comfortable."
