"We have been to many places throughout Mexico over the past 25 years and can honestly say that this resort rates in the top few. On a scale of 1 to 5 for staff friendliness this place rates a 10 ! The layout of the resort has all of the rooms close to everything on site as well as the beach.
I was quite surprised with the quality and variety of the food, and number of restaurants for the low price we paid to stay here. We would arrive at the various restaurants between 6:00 and 6:30 and never had to wait to be seated; there was a wait for those who arrived after 7:00 though.
We had no problems getting beach or pool chairs before 8:30 AM, and always had good seats for the shows each night. Of the 4 pools there was a quiet pool, a drink pool, an activity pool, and a kids pool.
We have learned to travel in the low seasons and tip early during our visits as that always pays off. Though we like to try new places each trip to Mexico, I anticipate we will find ourselves back at this resort again as it was such a pleasant surprise, and great experience."

"Resort was beautiful, rooms clean and outside area clean. Suggestion would be that there should be an adult only pool. Kids playing and throwing balls in and around pool and screaming seems alittle much when on vacation....Only other issue was the staff seemed to not be stating same info for things. Getting different prices for spa treatments depending on who you spoke with. Other than things like that, the resort is a great place and would go back."

The resort overall was a nice experience besides our room, but would not stay again due to issues with customer service with the front reception. Bar and restaurant staff were great.
The main issues was the staff at the front des; they were not customer orientated and did nothing to address major ant issues in our room and refused to move us our entire trip.
They were contacted many times to deal with our washroom area that was infested by ants...and only once came to spray some bug spray. One does expect some bugs in a tropical area, but the entire floor was infested in the washroom as well as ants crawling on the vanity....which overtook and totally ruined the postive things about the resort unfortunately."

"Do not go to the VIP breakfast, it's a timeshare pitch that will suck the fun out of your vacation. My wife and I upgraded to the privilege suite for an extra 200 per person, it was well worth it, jacuzzi on balcony, ocean view, don't have to wait in line for dinner, butler, in room internet, better quality liquor, exclusive bar/snack area with the best breakfast they have."

"Loved Ocean Coral and Turquesa - It wasn't my pick for a hotel, my girlfriend was getting married there. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by everything!
My cautions - don't eat the meat :( not all of its bad, but not all of its good. Stick with the fish - safer. AVOID the hotel gift shop. The photo counter in particular, The photographers were great, they took pictures of my kids all week with animals etc. the day before we left I went in and tried to purchase some of our pics (on disk not printed) and he tried to charge me almost $400.00 USD. Blew my mind. I tried to barter with him (talk some sense into him) and he became RUDE. When I informed the hotel manager i was told the gift shop is a separate entity but they would tell his manager. I also reported this- as a complete scam, so far nothing has been done by anyone.
II would highly recommend this hotel to a friend or even consider a return trip myself, overall it was a great vacations and a spectacular time!!"

"I've been needing a getaway lately and my girlfriend and I decided to go to the Carribbean. I would definitely reccommend this place as the food was very good (for an all-inclusive resort), the beach was beautiful, the pools were great, and the staff was AMAZING!! What we paid for this resort was definitely a great deal and would recommend this resort to anyone. The resort is not too large and therefore got to meet a lot of great people as the week went on and easy to learn the layout of the resort by the first day. AMAZING STAY OVERALL!!!"

"I would recommend this Hotel to a friend, but as any hotel, it did have it pro's and cons.
When we first arrived, they welcomed us with a drink and everyone was extremely nice! When we got a key to our first room, we were extremely tired from traveling and looking forward to getting to the room to relax. We actually walked in our first room to find that it was already occupied. We went to the front desk to explain what happened and they apologized and assigned us a 2nd room. When we got to our 2nd room, we were greeted with two twin beds (which we had upgraded our room and paid extra for a king size bed with an ocean view). We explained that we weren't trying to be difficult but would prefer to sleep in the same bed but they asked us if we could push the beds together until the next day until they could get us a new room. Although this wasn't our first choice, we decided to make due until morning. They were great and the next day and moved everything to a room we initially paid for.
As far as the food goes; Breakfast and lunch is pretty average and they have 7 different dinner options that are FAR above average. The Japanese Restaurant and Italian Restaurant would easily be $100 meals.
They have a great coffee shop with amazing pastries but for some reason it doesn't open up until 10:00am. I would have passed on the buffet to get a good cup of coffee and pastry, but 10:00am and 80 degs is late for a cup of coffee.
They separate their guests into Privileged (if you have time-share with H10 hotels) and 'normal' guests. If you do have a time-share, you can drink the top shelf liquor, have an exclusive bar, and you can make reservations at the restaurants instead of waiting. They will try to get you to go to an exclusive breakfast when you first arrive but please don't waste your time; we sat there for 5 hours listening to a sales pitch on why we should buy a timeshare. Half of a day wasted and at 28 years old, we don't have the money for a time-share.
Don't bring any denomination over $20 because they will not take it. If you have to exchange it into Pesos, you will lose out. The exchange rate was right around $14.00 and the front desk would only offer us $11.50. I know that doesn't sound like a huge difference but when exchanging $200-300, it adds up quickly. We were looking for small bills to tip but ended up losing even more money on the exchange rate. Lesson learned.
My last negative about this hotel is; if you don't tip the housekeeper, they seem to be a little stingy on leaving you water for the room. We went 2 days with no bottled water and you cannot get water on hotel grounds without buying from the gift shop until 10:00am (which they usually leave you 4 bottles per day which is great). We left the housekeeper $10USD everyday after the 3rd day just to ensure that we got water and diet soda. They claim that they have a full stocked mini bar but they leave you 2 beers, 2 regular coca colas, 2 regular sprites, and 1 regular Fanta. My advice is leave a note to the housekeeper from day 1 if you prefer diet soda/water and leave a tip. We actually asked the front desk and housekeepers for water those 2 days they didn't leave it and they said we would have to call room service to get the waters, which we would have to pay for.
So now for the positives: everyone at this hotel is extremely nice and helpful. You will absolutely fall in love with the bartender Juan, as he will make you any drink you want and will make sure you have a smile on your face,
THE REASON WE WOULD GO BACK: at the side pool, they have a server and she absolutely took care of us from day one and gave us a huge hug when we left. Tipping is not required at all and although we took care of her when we left, she always gave us a huge smile when she arrived to work and made sure we had a drink in our hands at all times. My wife is not a big drinker and everyday to start the day, she would bring her 3-4 different drinks to try until she found one that she liked. She absolutely made our trip worth while.
We would probably try a different hotel the next time we go but I wouldn't be afraid to recommend this hotel to a friend. The consensus from everyone is that the food and rooms are pretty avg for the money but the service and dinner restaurants are above avg.

"hey,
Ive been there with my girlfriend at the end of August 21012,Overall place is nice and very clean, staff is friendly. Location is good because you are in between Canun and Playa Del Carmen. I rented a car It was very safe to drive, you have road blocks in the middle of the highway and they check all cars so its very safe. I was very happy that i rented a car because you want to get out of the resort if you are there for more than 7 days like i did. Hotel is down the road from the main highway that goes from Cancun to Playa Del Carmen. Right before you get on the highway on the left side you have 'crocodile zoo' which me and my girlfriend went to and it was amazing and worth money with a free (tips) tour guide that takes you through and u get to see some unique animals and the best that you can touch most of them. It was $25 a person which is not a lot for Cancun. definitely recommend, Front desk not too friendly but the rest of the staff very friendly. Good restaurants, the best is the hibachi which requires reservation and nice dress code (be by the restaurant at 5:40pm) The pool bar closes around 12:30 and music is off which it was a little too early for me and most people, most of us came to enjoy and getaway dance and have a good time and 12:30 seems a little early. So after that all you have is a 'Sports Bar' which is open til 5am and they have drinks and american food (hamburgers, fries, hotdogs, salads, onion rings itd). The only one bad experience i have had was 'Coco Bongo Tour', they told us that we are getting round trip, skip the line, table in the middle of the dance floor, open bar all night (except shots) all for $70. Ok it sounds great, we got ready like we are going to a club, can was late a little so we left an hour later, when we got there, there was a line about 1000 people in front of us and all of them had 'express pass' band, it was moving but it took us over 40 min to get inside, by the time we got inside it was so packed that it was impossible to walk and we had a group of 10 so we lost 2. After 20 min they told us that the table is on the 4th floor we got there in 45min (because there are so many people) to find out that there is no table and there might be all the way at the bottom of the club where we just came from. Very disorganized they didn't have a table for us they just tried to find one, in this 2hrs we got one beer each that was mixed with water so we didn't even drink it, place is advertise as a club but i just want u to understand want it looks like, its more like a Broadway show there is no dance floor all you do is stand and watch the show, you CANT dance because there is no room and no real dance floor and that's what i was NOT expecting. Even if you get a table its not a table with chairs, a small round table that you stand around and you can put a drink not sit down if u tired. I just want you to know what it is before you decide to go. If you want to get an ocean view ask for the highest floor because landscaping is pretty high. I would recommend bringing $100 in singles for the staff, they are very good at what they do and they deserve tips and next time you will see they will take care of you as soon as they see you. You don't pay for anything else so small tips are not a lot. Also during the day at the main pool with bar they do different activities which makes the stay pleasant. Hope that helped someone. Thanks

"Resort itself is nice. Food is decent. Staff is very friendly. But if you are going there for the beach like we did, it really isn't nice. The ocean is disgusting, water is really dirty. We went right after a hurricane had hit but the staff told us that the ocean there is always dirty. I've been to nicer resorts in Riviera Maya. The beach at the Ocean Coral and Turquesa was short. You can't go for long walks on the beach. I expected a lot more."

"We paid the extra for Priviledge service which meant we could reserve tables in restaurants and had use of the Fusion restaurant and lounge area. For the four of us it worked out at $60 each per day for this service and I dont think it was worth this much money. On arrival we were allocated a Master suit (we had booked a junior suite) on the other side of the hotel , near the kids swimming pool. This was great as we have two children and the larger room meant that they had a separate bed room. However we soon discovered why the room had a slight damp /musty smell . The windows leaked water when it rained (it rained for 2 days and on 2 separate days while we were there). We awoke to find quite a large pool of water on the floor along with a drip that fell from above the curtains. we informed the privilege manager but nothing was fixed and all they did was place towels on the floor to mop up the rain. This was a disappointment for a 5 star hotel! Otherwise a great place to stay."

"We enjoyed our stay at Oceans. The staff was very friendly. We found the pools, grounds and rooms to be well maintained and clean. The food was 'good'. The Mexican themed buffet was the best. They had nice options and everyone in our family was able to find something they liked. We had some foul weather while there and the staff did a very nice job keeping us occupied while outdoor activities were not available. The days following, the clean up went pretty quickly even though the ocean water was really stirred up outside of the hotel. They can't control that. The bathrooms in the room are 'weird' as the bathroom is not completly closed off from the rest of the room. Lacks some privacy if you are travelling with others. Overall, a nice place."

Restaurant at pool is a buffet at lunch as is not stocked quickly enough and the waiter service there is very slow and spotty. Daisy and Entertainment staff are wonderful. THere was a problem with jelly fish while we were there and our young grandson was stung, not the hotels fault however the doctor told us there has been atleast 20 stings that week and no one at the hotel let anyone know about it - in fact the general manager of the hotel said she knew nothing about it. The doctor sent my daughter to the hotel store to get Benadryl as he wanted to have her give it immediatly to her son but they refused as she did not have cash with her, she explained her room was far and gave them the room number but they would not allow her to have it until cash was given. Because of this incident with the shop we would not return to this establishment."

That area had no air conditioning, hot and humid, and very uncomfortable to stay for making the activity arrangement. "This was a family vacation and it was great. most of the hotel staff was friendly. The good things about trip was room was good, food was good. There was entertainment at night which was great family fun. There was activities for younger kids provided by the daisy club which was excellent as well. Staff always greeted you as you walked around the property. Buffet staff was exceptional. Now the things that need to be corrected were 1. rude supervisor at guest service where I called to ask for a sheet change because my baby got pee on the sheets, she gave me attitude and proceeded to tell me I would have to pay because sheets were damaged without even listening to me then I spoke to front desk supervisor and she handled it for me, 2nd the A La Carte restaurants were horrible you're better off at the buffets or snack area. The 2 ladies at the door of italian restaurant seemed to treat my family and I rudely, just because someone you think isn't of spanish background doesn't give anyone the right to be rude (fact is we're spanish and understood them talking about us), there also needs to be a better way to inform customers that there is a dress code especially for men. I think it is very silly to a dress code for men, majority of men don't travel with long pants when going to a hot climate, it's just ridiculous. The beach also had an issue with yellowfish stinging people and there were no warning signs along the beach, I think it's horrible that adults and children are subjected to this without notice. The photoshop pictures are expensive and for $12.00 you can't even get the year on your picture. Overall it was okay and if improvements are made I would return."

"Upon arrival we were escorted to check-in by individual rooms (we were party of 10). Very friendly offered drinks. Only problem was it took so long we missed the deadline for a dinner reservation that first night and our guy told us when we were all finished checking in we could make the reservation . It was after 4:30 and he couldn't make us a reservation. We all ate at the buffet which had a great presentation but food was not that great! Japanese was excellent, breakfast at the privilege lounge was first class. The free lobster dinner was at the steakhouse that apparently no one could give us correct directions to the restaurant. After three incorrect directions from very friendly staff we finally found it at the beachside grill (on map). Food was excellent but hard to enjoy in 90 degree heat. The men were required to wear pants, the table was situated where fans nor ocean breeze reached us! It was a 30th bday, they brought a surprise dessert but half of us left early due to heat! Be ready to sweat no AC in lobby! Thank goodness for the pools and bars as they were great, just gave tips when we wanted too (no pressure at all). The rooms were outstanding! It would be great if the staff would inform all about the time limit on reservations and the fact that your free lobster is served outside! Also maps need improvement for restaurant locations. It would also be nice to have some clocks around to ensure you get to your reservation on time. We are ready to go again now that we are more informed!!"

"i would not recommend staying here. Although the entire staff through out the resort were friendly and the resort was very beautiful, the buffet food was horrible. The food was under cooked,the fruit was bad. The mexican restaurant was really good quality food, but that was the only place worth eating at.
There was a note left at out door twice saying we had a package at the desk, so we went down there to see what it was,com ego find out they wanted to pressure us into becoming members of H10 and RCI.
We told them right up front we were not interested in wasting their time or ours, and we would not being being anything and they said no problem there is no pressure to buy and just wanted to show us around the resort, again i said you are wasting your time,we are not interested in membership, again the said we understand you don't wanna buy can we show you around the resort anyway,so finally we said ok. we'll the showed us the top of the line suite and all the private areas members could enjoy and the off to the sales office we go for 3 hours of extremely high pressure.
We continued to tell them no about 100 times during the 3 hours onslaught and they kept coming up with different figures and price plans. finally at the end of 3 hours they actually got mad at us,because we wouldn't buy. the guy actually said to me and i quote( well if you had told me you weren't gonna be really interested i wouldn't have wasted my time) i looked him right in the eye and said i told you from the very beginning that we were not gonna buy and you told me there was no pressure!!! i said what do you think you have done for the last 3 hours??? of course he had no answer.
I will never return to this resort, it was a waste of time and money. the only good that come out of this was we meet some really amazing people at the pool that we will be friends with for a lifetime.
i forgot to mention the food was so bad that i was sick for 2 days and my wife was sick for 4.

"Very clean hotel. Great food in every restaurant. The beach was a little seaweedy but its the ocean...it is what it is. If you are looking for coral water this hotel is not for you. Sorry. The pool bar was GREAT! If you treat the staff well aka tip even just a few bucks you will get GREAT service. All the staff was very hardworking and went above and beyond the call of duty. I will be recomending this hotel for weddings. We saw 3 on our 5 day trip and from my view point the staff made it very nice by roping off the wedding area and making their day special. The view from our rooms, building 14 4th floor was great. Ask beg or pay for an upper level its soo worth it and if you can afford upgrade to priveledge. It took the agravation out of dinner reservations and liquor is top shelf but you have to go to the priveledge lounge. Over all it was great!!! "

"The rooms smelled like mold and mildew. We requested a change from our original room since the shower leaked ALL over the floor in the bathroom making it very slippery-a dangerous situation. We were treated very poorly by the front desk staff. Our room was changed to the total opposite end of the place right by the kiddie pool. How romantic for a young couple! The room still smelled, but HEY at least it only leaked into the toilet area and not the room.
The activities at the pool were annoying, loud, and bordlerline stalkerish. If you did not want to participate in the second rate salsa lessons, they would accost you over the microphone.
The food at the buffets will make your stomach hurt.
Bar service stopped at the pool at 5:00. What is that about?
The first night for dinner we were told that we would need to wait 20 minutes for a table. That turned into 2 hours. Funny part: we were told that that is where less people went to dine. I guess when you tell everyone that, it can really mess things up.
It is unncessarily expensive to get there because of the taxi mob that rips everyone off. The prices are four times higher if you are not an employee of the resort. I felt like I was in jail there."

"This is my second stay at this hotel and all I can say is that this is a great resort! Two years ago it was like at 40-45% of its capacity, but this time it was at 96% according to one of the managers. I had to wake up early to find a nice place around the pool. The food is good, they still have some improvements here but nothing bad, it all depends on what you eat, from my point of view they get a 90 out of 100.
Another small issue are the drinks around the pool or the bar areas, you have to wait like 30 minutes to get one, you will have to walk to the bar if you want your drinks fast.
Just one thing that I can complaint about is that I supposedly was going to be upgraded to an Ocean View Suite, I signed for the upgrade and when I arrived to my room it was on the first floor, with a garden view and the back portion of the restaurant in my window view.
That was the bad part, the rest is that this is a great resort, friendly staff, they keep you busy if you follow them all day. I have an 8 year old and a 12 year old and they both love this resort, the Teens Club give them the opportunity to know people from around the world. We had a Soccer match on Sunday with players from around the world, of course my team won and the teams of my kids also won, this was a wonderful experience.

"Over all trip was great. There was 22 of us that that stayed. (10 kids under the age of 13) The weather was wonderful, the hotel was clean and room were of ample size. Food was OK. (some of the food was very good but there was some food that was not so good). At times the restaurants seemed under staffed. We had one night where we sat for 2 hrs waiting for food to be served. We eventually got up and walked out. I spoke to manager and he told me that we had a large group and that is why it was taking so long. At that time there was only 11 of us eating and they are suppose to be able to handle large groups. Also you are about 25 minutes from downtown Cancun and Playa del Carmen which is not a big deal if you don't leave the resort. We had to on a few occasions and had to pay $45.00 one way to get to Downtown Cancun. As far as pools go plan on walking to get drinks from the bar. There is only one pool bar and the other pools have a waitress trying to fill drinks. If you do manage to get the waitress plan on waiting 20 to 30 minutes for your drinks . Beach was ok we did not have the turquoise water that I have experienced in the past and there was a lot of seaweed . Which someone said that the ocean is normally turquoise but a storm came in a few weeks earlier and stirred up everything. FYI bring plenty of sun screen we payed $14.00 for a bottle of sunscreen at gift shop. As far as going back to the resort I think we will stay in a different area next time like we have in the past."

First of all, Cancun is beautiful and the weather is awesome. As a matter of fact, my family, together with our in laws are planning to go back to Cancun next year's family vacation.
I went to Cancun with my husband 3 kids (ages 12, 21 and 22). All my kids had a wonderful time at Ocean. We enjoyed all the activities they provided and also the tours. I have read the review for Ocean before we decided to go to this Resort. The reviews are all correct.
BA no privacy. But it doesn't bother us. Except my adult kids. The restaurants the Italian restaurant, Mexican, Coffee Bar and the Seafood restaurant. Foods was great. I dont like the Japanese Restaurant menu sushi is terrible. But I like the Hibachi Style. The waiting time is a little bit long. The buffet restaurant breakfast is good. Lunch and dinner sometime the menu is good but not all the time. The A la Carte restaurant are really good and the servers are very accomodating and very nice. We gave our server a tip everytime we go there. Great and professional service from all the staffs. And the place is clean.
The activities for kids are good. My son had a great time at the teen zone playing and making friends with other kids. My adult kids enjoyed the night parties etc. The people organizing the activities are wonderful and very creative. I enjoyed watching the Michael Jackson tribute. They are all very energetic and very very friendly. Activity staffs keep up the good work.
The room is small. Next time we will get 2 rooms. The beds are uncomfortable. But I saw Ocean replacing a lot of old beds to new beds. Im glad because they are doing something. Putting new comfortable beds. Thank you.
The beach has seaweeds but they always clean it. Seaweeds is nature and it doesnt bother us.
We will come back to Ocean next time and will get 2 rooms.

"This resort is fantastic! The rooms are very modern and clean. The food was delicious and there was a great variety of options. The all-inclusive drinks were incredible and the resort had a great menu of house specialties. We were always able to find a chair on the pool and at the beach (even though the resort was at 97% occupancy). And, finally, the staff was extremely friendly and courteous.
During our trip, I proposed to my girlfriend of 12 years. The hotel staff was very generous and arranged a romantic setup in our room for my fiance to see after I had proposed! The customer service desk had great ideas for how to decorate the room and the staff was so nice and excited for us!
When we first arrived, our room had a great deal of humidity and the floors were very wet. However, the resort staff responded immediately to our situation and brought us a de-humidifier and fresh linens. Other than that, our trip was free of any troubles and we had an amazing time!
Highly recommend to anyone considering this excellent resort!!! A

"I have to say the hotel is beautiful and the staff is so friendly. We had a great time the first 3 days then we got hit with a storm. Although the entertainment staff obviously knew how to handle the weather the food service staff didn't. Where the normal snack bar that is open when all other restaurants are closed, unfortunately was closed at 3pm which left nothing open for 3 hours to eat. With our 3 young boys always hungry it left us with only being able to walk back in the rain to our room to order room service. I have a hard time understanding why they felt this was a solution to anything but it made it so we will never return."

"The staff was very friendly. However dinners at the restraunts on property were hard to plan for. You needed to line up 2-3 hours ahead of time to reserves spots. The wait could be minutes to hours. Waits at the bars for drinks both at the lobby bar and pool bar were long. Short staffing seemed to be the theme. The bars ran out of certain alcohol every afternoon. They claimed they were out for the rest of the day. Magically they had more the next day. Rooms were cleaned well and there were no problems with the equip. (tv, air, lights, outlets, fridge) The property was moderate at best overall. Food at the buffet was average. Food at restraunts on property was very good once seated. Would not recommend."

"My family's experience at Ocean Turquesa was mixed. I took my 8 and 9 year old nephews and they LOVED IT. The swimming pools and variety of things for children to do was great. The staff was overly accommodating at dinning meals and around the resort. However, I also had my 72 & 73 year old parents who ordered room service a couple of times when they did not want to walk to dinning halls and one time no one came to the room, the order got lost. Another time they said 15 minutes and it took an hour. So the room service was very slow.
It is ok for the value, but by no means on the top of the charts. Their were thinks on the menu that were not 'all inclusive' ex. steak, lobster. And the wi-fi in the lobby only was inconvenient and slow. So adults I would say there are better places but for families and children, it was wonderful."

"Overall, good experience.
We did have a problem at check-in as they put us in a handicapped room with two double beds. The problem with the room was that when you took a shower, there was no lip to keep the water in and only a shower curtain. The floor got wet and extremely slippery. The bathroom is all open as well; no privacy. The double beds were not ideal as it was just my husband and myself. It seems with talking to other guests at the resort they had the same problem with two double beds; the hotel doesn't seem to have rooms geared towards majority of their clientele which seemed to be couples. The front desk gave me a hard time about the room and I finally got switched two days later to a regular (non-handicapped) room. Although the shower was enclosed, we did have problems with it leaking (I read other reviews having the same problem).
The food was good and everything was very clean. The hotel was nice and the staff was friendly.
During our stay, a tragic event occurred; a man died at the pool. The cause was unknown, but the manner in which it was handled was chaotic. The staff seemed very unprepared and frazzled as to what to do. There were arguments occurring between the staff and other guests who where trying to help (doctors, nurses). There should have been more hotel staff pushing extra people away and clearing out the area. The closest hospital I heard was 25 miles away and the hotel did not have the medical staff needed on the resort. It also took a while to clear the body away, as when we came down for dinner, it was covered, but still by the pool. I'm sure it was not the outcome that anyone wanted, but just hope that the man didn't die due to lack of help from the hotel staff.

"My 3 kids and I just returned from our vacation. I don't understand how this hotel has such a high star rating. I felt that since I was a single mom traveling with 3 kids, I was ignored.
First, the service here was horrible. Multiple times at different restaurants, the servers would forget parts of our meals like soup or appetizers. Drink refills never happened. Sometimes, we never received any drinks at all and I would get up myself and get drinks. Taking our food order took longer than it should.
Secondly, the food was terrible. The presentation was horrible. And the taste was even worse. There was only 1 restaurant that was good. The service was good and the food was good. We decided to go there again the next night because everywhere else was so bad it didn't get a second try. Well, the 2nd time around was a miss. Food and service was horrible. The buffet for any meal had food that was not pleasing to the eye. I am not picky with my food, truly. We went to the Mexican night at the buffet. My 2 girls couldn't find anything to eat except the fruit. My son and I found tamales and ate those. Needless to say, we went to another place. I have never been so disappointed in food at a hotel than I was here. One thing that I thought was strange was that there were no tortillas except for the ones that were used for certain dishes. Tortillas are used like bread in Mexico during meals. At our last meal, I became angry mostly at the service, and gave a little attitude. I couldn't hold it in anymore. The staff and food was ruining my trip. The staff started talking about me. Oh Staff, don't think that because I'm from America and it doesn't look like I would understand Spanish I wouldn't understand what you were saying about me. You should be ashamed.
The last think I did not enjoy was the bathrooms. In between the bedroom and the bathroom is a wall with a picture window in the wall. It was pretty until my family and I realized that blind that covers the window is totally see through. Not so bad if you were a couple. But I have a 13y/o son, 12 and 10y/o daughters. They had to turn around so not to see the person changing. The rest of the bathroom had a stall for the toilet and right next to that was the shower. No you could not see inside.
Would my kids recommend this resort to anyone? No. They told me that they would not want to go to Cancun again if we were to stay at this resort. I have to agree with them. It's a shame that their first trip to Cancun had to be at this resort. One last thing, I spoke with a couple of people that were at this same resort. They all said that this was the worst place they have been and that they would not come back to this resort. "

"The Ocean Coral and Turquesa resort is a hidden jewel. The resort was amazingly beautiful and the staff were all friendly. My only recommendation would be for the resort to serve better tasting food and more of a variety on the buffet. However, they do offer the option of restaurants (i.e. Japanese, Italian, Sports Bar, etc) that are also in the all-inclusive package. I highly recommend this resort if staying in the Puerto Morelos area. We traveled in a group of 8 and we all said that when we vacation in Puerto Morelos (Cancun) in the future, we will definitely stay at the Ocean Coral and Turquesa resort again."

"Upon arrival at Cancun Airport,we found our way to Best Day transport and were taken quickly to Ocean Turquesa. Perfect instructions for pickup at airport and pickup from hotel to return to airport. Pros for Ocean Turquesa: Pools are gorgeous; adequate seating around pool (although wish a few more umbrellas, but definitely not an issue); rooms are pretty and spacious; lobby well appointed with an abundance of seating as well as seating on the patio off the lobby. The staff is outstanding -- no request could not be met. They are friendly, courteous, and always with a cheerful disposition. Rooms and grounds very clean.
Cons - food is mediocre (few meals were very good, most were just ok). Rooms were very damp with very strong smell. Staff brought a dehumidifier which helped a bit (had to empty 3 times per 24 hours, it collected that much moisture from the air), very poor lighting in room -- best description is DIM. Lighting not strong enough to even read.
Suggestions: clock in room, English speaking news channel, better information in book left in room -- i.e., times restaurants are open (some are open for lunch, others not); we were told reservations were not taken -- 1st come, 1st served, only to find out that reservations are in fact needed in Japanese restaurant. Spoke to travel desk requesting information for trip to Cancun and/or Playa del Carmen -- told to take a cab and shown the prices for cabs on the wall near the entrance to the lobby. Found out on last day there is in fact a FREE excursion to Cancun leaving in the mornings and returning at 2:30 pm and a trip to Playa del Carmen for $17 pp from 2:30 - 7;30 pm. Would have been very helpful to find out this information earlier. If you weren't at the pool all day, there were no activities planned for elsewhere. There is a daily newsletter -- having it more centurally located would be more helpful -- often when you got to the lobby to get one, they were all gone -- suggestion -- have it at the buffet -- most people go there for breakfast."

"This was the first time to an H10 Resort and this one was fantastic. The Ocean Coral and Turquesa was referred to me by a friend and it was definitely a great decision to book here.The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The room was kept clean and nicely decorated. The beds were a little hard, but I got used to it. I had paid extra for the upgraded 'privelege' amenities and it was well worth it. I was completely impressed by the ease of checking in and the personal greetings we received from the staff. Our butler service was exceptional, always very accomodating. The restaurants were very good and the grounds were kept immaculate. I most enjoyed the special attention that we received for being a 'privelege' guest. The beach was beautiful and the pools were great. It was hard at times to get a chair if you didn't get out to the pool early enough - however, with the upgraded status - we were able to find chairs easily at the private beach area and the priveleged pool as well. The entertainment staff was great as well. The only downfalls were 1) the timeshare sales presentation took a lot longer than originally told and the excursion I bought ahead of time did not come with transportation so the cost to get a taxi to the excusion cost a lot more than I anticipated. Othere than those - No issues at all. I would definitely return to this resort and recommend it to others."

"Our experience with this resort was phenomenal. We have been to more expensive resorts, and this one for less was much better. The staff is super nice and the hotel is kept very clean. The decor and the set up of the rooms are nice. There is a lot to do, from going to the beach and the pool, to nightly entertainment for everyone. The entertainment staff does a very good job. The beach is beautiful and kept clean. Food was okay and they try to have a variety. As for the climate, it is very humid over there, so when you get to the airport you feel the difference. At the resort, you are advised to keep your ac at a certain temperature to keep it cool and comfortable. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and we most likely will return."

"We thought the Ocean Turquesa resort was better than our expectations, the resort was elegant plush and easy to get around, the staff immensely friendly and willing to help. The rooms were a little on the small side though elegant in decor and being 4 adults would've been better to have had 2 rooms rather than the one we booked even though one room said it slept 4-6 people. The amenities were super clean and well kept and staff on hand to have activities going on throughout the day. A little disappointing was not have in the write up to take closed toe shoes or sandals as some restaurants had a strict dress code of no flip flops so we couldn't eat in certain reastaurants but overall we had a wonderful time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to a friend."

"Well, beside the 12 hrs flight from Washington DC to Cancun that BookIt.com set up for me, I thought nothing else could go wrong once I was in the Ocean Turquesa Resort....ezh...ezh..WRONG! After I wasted a whole day for flying from the East Coast at 7 AM to the West Coast of the US before landed in Cancun at 7:30 PM, got to the resort at 9:45 PM of Friday, 5/18/12, checked in, got to my room just to find out it's too late to go to dinner in any restaurant. Then just like the previous Reviewers, my room was really wet in the floor and the moisture, muggy odor was too much in the room. I went down to the reception desk to report this issue and requested for a room change, then I was told like any other people before me, there was no room that's available to change. But to their credit, they did promise to bring up to my room the Dehumidifier and would check on Sunday morning for the room change. The next day, which was Saturday, I had purchasing the H10 Premium Time Share package with the resort, so my status now upgraded, I was hopping that by doing this things would going to be better for my room. Well, come Sunday, they did switched room for me as requested, people was nice and the Premium status was showed as I got more amenities in my new room. However, this room also had its own problem as water was leaking into the room's floor as I got up on Monday morning to go to the Snorkeling day trip at 5 AM...?! I hurried to go down to the reception desk again to report the problem and to request once again for room change, which they said they would do it while I was out on my day trip. When I got back on Monday afternoon and went to the new room, I realized they switched my room but there was none of the Premium's amenities that was supposed to be in the room like the night before. I then reported to the H10 Privileges desk and they said they would send someone to take care of it. We got back to the room after dinner and saw that there were some amenities but not completed as the night before. I was OK with that, then the next day, Tuesday, the whole day went by without any of the room cleaning service and refreshing???! I reported to the H10 Premium Desk then they sent someone to bring the new towels for us as we had used up the last clean towel after 2 nights and a day in that room. We had request the check out late at 1 PM on Wednesday and then to find out when we got back to the room at 12:30 PM of Wednesday to check out at 1 PM that we had been locked out as we still have our stuffs in the safety lockbox inside the room. I had to run back to the H10 Premium Desk to ask them to reactivate the key for my room, then went upstair again to find out it was not done yet. I just about to breath fire out of my mouth if you know what I meant by that, but luckily there was a cleaning maid near by and she saw we stood out side of the room, so she went over to open the door for us!!! I think all in all, the resort is beautiful, the employees there were friendly and worked hard as they supposed to, but the main problem is the Management Staffs that should be better with their intercommunication among themselves from 1 dept. to the other within their entire operation on Guest's requests/issues and execute them in a timely manner since they are in hosting industry and there is no room to upset the Guests while they are spending money to be pampering and taking care of! I hope the upper Management of H10 Premium will look into the day to day operation of this resort to tighten and to ensure the flow of communication line between Guest's request/issues to Manager On-Duty awareness to the execution of the tasks to complete those requests/issues in the timely fashion to satisfy the needs of us, Guests of the resort. Until they can achieve this, it would be the norm as these type of lacking, irresponsible behaviors will continue to happen! "

"I've traveled across the world so I like to think I have pretty normal expectations on what I liked and what need improvements. The first thing I would like to mention is the resort grounds are really nice and the staff is great, however there is a lack of communication there. After reading some of the reviews before I sent in email asking for a dehumidifier in the room, they emailed be a week later saying they would (didn't happen). There isn't any major problems it was just a lot of little things started to add up to get frustrating. First, the ceiling fan in the room is controlled by a motion sensor. When the fan is off the room gets very muggy and hot even with the air conditioning on (understandable, it was really hot outside) however when you are sleeping the fan shuts off due to the motion sensor, and the room gets so hot it woke us up every couple hours. We called the front desk and all they said was it was due to the motion sensor and didn't do anything about it. The other thing is the sound on the TV goes off when you change channels and you have to turn off the TV manually to get it to turn back on. This doesn't seem like a huge problem, but I like to watch the news in the morning as my girlfriend was getting ready which was very annoying. Fees. I would say the most dissapointing thing was the extra activities. We wanted to go out for cinco de mayo, the only option was Coco Bongo in Play Del Carmen, which required cash. The ATM there dispenses American dollars only. To take out $250 USD it cost me $67.50 in exchange rate and fees (I use US Bank). The main thing is the people there are awesome, and none of the problems I had were really had anything to do with the people of the resort, it was more of the company policies. If you want to go into town the cab was $40 each way. I really liked the resort, but the thing is there are plenty of resorts in Cancun that are great. The food was not very good. I tipped over $150 in the 5 days I was there between all the staff that I dealt with and didn't receive any above and beyond treatment. Overall the resort was good, worth the stay, but there might be better value out there."

"We were really excited to be headed down, especially after reading the reviews online. We have gone to resorts before and after staying at Ocean Turquesa it shows that the small difference in price is a huge deal. I understand that we were in mexico and that customer service is not the same as in the US or Canada but some of the service and explanations that we recieved on this trip were ridiculous. I have travelled around the world and stayed at some really bad places but even the cheapest hostels and hotels I have stayed in treated you better then some of the staff at this resort. While some of the servers and entertainment staff were incredibly nice it didn't make up for the rest of the staff. It all started and ended with the front staff and how ridiculously rude they were. When we arrived we specifically asked not to be in a certain building due to being right next to the kids pool and yet put us there anyways. We were back at the front desk in under 5 minutes requesting to move and all she said was 'did you touch anything?' The next time dealing with them was after getting turned down from 2 restaurants for wearing dress shorts and collared shirt and not pants. Before leaving I checked 3 sites, and did not find anything about dress codes anywhere. Arriving at the restuarant they have a sign stating that it is smart casual for the restaurant, meaning no shorts. Going back to the front desk I did not get a sorry or explanation on why it isn't posted anywhere, I got a 'well you should of known to bring some pants because most resorts require them.' THEN PUT THAT ON YOUR WEBSITE!!! Watching people get into the restaurant in ratty jeans, sandels with socks and old t-shirts just made it worse as their standards obviously didn't apply all around, just to shorts. I would like to say that the lady at the privilage desk was a huge help after all the trouble. she arranged for a new pair of pants to be brought in for me to wear, after dealing with the rest of the staff for 2 days. In that time I asked to see the manager 4 times and was told everytime that they could not get a hold of her. I would say that staying in privilage seems like it might be worth it because in their statement it says 'In privilage it's all about YOU!' Apparently no one else matters. The beach and resort itself were nice, the food at the al la carte restaurants was good (the mexican restaurant was great!), the food at the buffet was awful. I would not recommend this resort and would suggest paying a little bit more for a better trip all around."

"I have traveled to Mexico on several occasions and I must say that this trip has been by far the best in remembrance. The cleanliness and modernization of the resort, the friendliness of the staff and the attention to detail gives the overall ambiance of the resort a resounding wonderful and lasting impression. You can visibly see the pride within the staffs faces as they really appear as if it were truly a "pleasure to serve you... for them. I had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend this location to anyone. It's a perfect blend for young, old, couples or singles. The price we paid is hard to beat and extremely economical. However, if I were to make certain critiques they would be as followed: the audio on the tv's did not work in the room. (Though I think the resort was trying to correct the problem.) Our room had a wonderful shower area however, the water was not regulating correctly and it would go from our desired tempter setting to scalding hot every 30-45 seconds. The greeting staff, while very informative of the resorts attractions and activities, becomes salesmen's by trying to persuade you to upgrade your existing reservation by purchasing extra "VIP... accommodations for $50.00 a day. They do this by inviting you to a reserved breakfast or by having drinks with them. The upgrades are really not necessary compared to what you are already receiving and the sales pitch takes you away from your beach time. Given these minuscule annoyances, I would still without question return again with even more friends."

We had a lovely view of the ocean from our 3rd floor balcony. The food wasn't anything to rave about, but we certainly never went hungry. We really enjoyed getting iced coffees at the little cafe in the afternoons. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Great place."

"We are a family of five (three teenage kids) and read many reviews before booking this resort...so here is the deal. I would consider us a reasonable family with realistic expectations - we have traveled extensively so have a decent level of reference points. The resort is a very nice, well kep resort. The rooms are nice as it is still a relatively new resort but it is big so i would suggest asking for at least a thrid floor room if you want ocean views (they have nice landscape but the trees block view if you are below the thrid floor in some areas of resort). They have three pools - all nice - one for little kids, one for families, and one for the party folks - unfortunately, the only bar is at the party pool (unless you go with Priviledge pkg which I think is a waste - they have another pool which was a ghost town). There were two watch outs from our perspective - first, the beach. THe beach itself is nce and you can take long walks if you choose - the problem is SEAWEED - seems that the resort is located in the worst location on the beach for catching the seaweed - the water was unswimmable for most of the week we were there - they have a tractor going back and forth trying to bury the seaweed but it was relentless - at some point down the beach where they did not plow, the seawood was two feet high on the beach. If you walk a ways down the beach you get to some decent water but that is outside the resort. Kind of a bummer if you like swimming in the ocean. THe other negative was merchants they have come onto the resort - usually just on FRiday's - they are a complete rip off so if you want to buy something I would suggest heading into town. FInally, for the all inclusive the food is OK - about what you would expect at one of these places and our kids seemed to be fine. It was not that big of a deal for us to get into the restaurants we wanted without doing the Priviledge pkg so I think you can avoid that. Hope this helps!"

"This was the best place we have ever been to in Mexico (we have been to many). The attention by the employees, the food (24/7 and fabulous!), rooms, bed, hot water, service, pools, activities, beach, cleanliness, kayaks, sail boats, well, EVERYTHING was spectacular! No pressure, just said no thanks, with membership. Yes, the game of putting your towels on the chairs to reserve them is like any other hotel we have stayed in. Not a problem.The Best Day travel from the airport to hotel and back was great. They also got us a great discount on the Dolphinaris (which is also the best we have done). We can't say enough good things about our trip and this wonderful all inclusive resort. Great shows each night and stuff for kids (we had no kids with us but checked it out). We will return here and bring our kids and grandkids!"

"Poor customer service from the get-go--the lady at thr front desk was not pleasant to deal with, sarcastically informed me that the king bed I reserved as not available for me until 1 day after I checked out....nice. Beach and pools were lovely, but there weren't enough places to eat during the day (only one place offers full buffet), rooms were very damp and musty, staff in restaurants don't seem to care much if you're there. On that note, it isn't REALLY an all-inclusive--you have to PAY for certain foods and wine at the restaurants. REALLY?!?! Don't waste your money here--go to a different all-inclusive."

"As with several other hotels we have been to in the Riviera Maya, the places are upscale, clean, beautiful weather and a good time. For the price, you cant beat these all-inclusive deals.The buffets are fair to good, the restaurants are all nice and have very good food. The bars are all good, though you could ask for the same drink and it could taste very different at each bar of from different bartenders. This hotel had clean rooms, no bug issues at all. The weather was nice every day in April. Pool activities were fun/funny. Also, it was only a 20 minute drive from the airport."

"My wife & I had a great time @ this resort. Our room was quite big & roomy, with a wonderful ocean view. The resort was impeccably clean with a very courteous and friendly staff. The food & entertainment was fair. We spent all of our time on the beach, which was also quite beautiful. The only comments I would make, is that the resort must come up with better method of managing the use of the beach chairs/straw umbrellas. If you want a chair, you need to save them with your beach towel by the crack of dawn or you will not get one. In addition, the restaurants do not fill their tables to their full capacity, which makes the waiting lines longer than they should be. If you want to reserve @ the Japanese restaurant, be prepared to stand in line for @ least an hr & 1/2 if you want to be seated. Overall we had wonderful time, but would want to explore other resorts in the area or other Caribbean countries."

"First: I frequently read reviews, but rarely write them. We just returned from a wonderful Spring Break trip: two adults and three kids (8,6,4 yo) in two ocean view adjacent rooms. We did the 'PRIVILEGE' package and I would highly recommend it. We had our own private beach area, bar, restaurant and large pool area. It was totally worth the upgrade, especially on a busy vacation week. The other pools were packed with people but we felt our beach and pool experience was very relaxing. That being said... we still reserved an area on the beach and at the pool when the kids woke up at about 7am. There were a couple vendors on the beach but they were not intrusive or pushy and just quietly walked up and down the beach. There was no time share pressure and the people selling day trips took 'No' for an answer the first time. We also didn't find the sea weed a problem. It was there, but the tractor continually combs the beach to remove most of it from the shore, and there wasn't too much in the water. It didn't bother our kids at all. The PRIVILEGE package also allowed you to pre-book your dinner reservations on arrival so you didn't have to wait in line to make reservations. It also included pillow upgrades... I highly recommend the feather pillows over the standard pillows, a lobster/steak voucher and various butler services that we did not use, including ironing. We also enjoyed the outdoor shower and jacuzzi tub on the deck. The rooms were spacious and the mini bar was stocked daily with water bottles, soda, beer, alcohol and a couple of snacks. The beds were firm, but we all slept fine. The rooms were cool and comfortable. It is also important to comment on how quiet the rooms are: even though there is a horse-shoe shape to the buildings: there is a large natural area in the middle... so you are not hearing all the noise of the pools and bars. At least, this is true in the ocean view Privilege area. The guests and staff were all very friendly. The alcoholic drinks were a tad weak... but with some encouragement you could get a more generous pour from the bartender (and I am sure a little tip wouldn't help either). We did not feel pressured to tip, by the way. We were concerned about the quality of food from the reviews but we had some very good meals. It is probably the weakest part of the resort but still some great choices and very palatable... just not too much that was 'super.' We ate two great meals at the Mexican restaurant even though it is the least popular in the reviews. Just so you know, you need to have dry clothes to eat at the buffet for lunch. Daisy kids club was adequate. We used it only one half day for our youngest (four years old). The hosts seem very nice and energetic but there was no formal sign in and I worried a little about safety/supervision especially with pool activities. They did plan some fun activities for the kids in the evenings from about 8-9pm: dance competition/beach party/ bingo. The different areas of the resort was easily accessible and nothing was farther than a short walk. We also used BEST DAY for travel to and from the airport. It was wonderful. We had good service and private air conditioned van transport: so you didn't have to wait for anyone else or load into a big bus or stop at any other resorts. It was just our family and our luggage. We have gone to several all inclusive resorts (Cancun, DR, Costa Rica) and I would highly recommend this one and even consider returning... although we rarely vacation at the same place twice."

"This resort was spotless. The staff were courteous and extremely hard working! We had a room for a family of five, which is hard to come by, and the only minor issue was the pullout couch was slightly uncomfortable, however I have never slept on one to date that was actually comfortable. We requested an extra mattress but it never arrived. The beach was NOT dirty!! or gross. the beach was amazing, yes it is near the reef thus the seaweed is apparent, but we had green flag swimming days all around! and the tractor cleaned the beach almost hourly. I travelled with small children and they loved it.. The pools were great, the food was good, the Fish was always amazing which mad me very happy.. We did not feel pressued into the presentation, we simply said no thanks.. I would reocmmend this resort. As for the game of putting your towel on the beach chair early, well that is the way it goes at any of the resorts we have travelled to in the past 10 years- and for the musty smell - well yes..it is MEXICO..and it is humid and sometimes musty, that is the reality of a tropical destination..we actually had a dehimidifier in the room.. If I could recommend one improvement it would be that the Coffee shop would have specialty coffees. I am not a big drinker but the little shot of amaretto topped with whip cream was really a nice treat!!! Travelling with three small children I was very happy with this resort!!"

"The resort was beautiful. The beach was gorgeous with sand almost as soft as baby powder. Every worker we came in contact with was very friendly and helpful. A couple of things. The chairs in the lobby were all very uncomfortable. The room chairs were very good either. We didn't know the game(until the last day) that you had to go throw a towel on a lounge chair on the beach or by the pools at daybreak to have a spot for the day. You have to be in line at ethnic restaurants at 5:30 or 6:00 to eat 6 to 6:30. If you go at 7, you can't eat until 8:30 or 9. They did not take reservations unless you were a 'vacation club' member. That brings me to my last point ... I did not like at all being tricked into a vacation club presentation, which is just another spin on a time share."

"We've been to this resort twice and love it. We love how close it is to Cancun and yet very quiet. The rooms are very modern and clean. It is really nice to stay in a resort where you do not have to make a reservation for your a la carte restaurant. The food is delicious, staff is very nice. The only negative we have experienced on both visits: the house wine tastes like vinegar. However, this not a deal breaker for us, especially considering all the other great drinks that they have. We definitely look forward to our next visit."

I woke up half way through the trip with what seemed like a horrendous head cold but it disappeared the second I was home, so it must have been an allergy attack, probably from the musty room. "The Staff was amazing! They were incredibly friendly, polite and courteous. The entire resort was very clean and the open-air lobby was one of the best we had ever stayed at. It had many gathering spots with plenty of comfortable seating, live entertainment, walk up bar, as well as servers walking around, coffee bar, etc. Rooms were nice with incredible views. The food in the restaurants was top quality and the buffet food was very good (for a buffet). Only real complaint about the food was that there was almost no true Mexican fare on the buffet, oddly enough. The one problem with the restaurants was that they do not take reservations. Prepare for long waits unless you get there as soon as they open at night or before - which is 6pm. There were four pools and all had a great atmosphere. Two complaints about the pool area. The first is their towel policy. You get a card when you check in which you can exchange for (only) a single towel. You need to return that card at check out or you get charged $30 USA. You can of course get refresher towels every morning but we felt the policy was a bit odd and restrictive. There is also not enough seating around the non-kiddie pools which results in having to get up extremely early to save seats. We personally prefer an environment that doesn't allow you to save seats but that is just a personal choice. All in all we believe it was a great resort and we had a wonderful time."

"I highly reccomend this hotel. Everything about it was GREAT!. walking through the hotel I truly felt that I was in paradise. There are palm trees and flowers all over, coconuts growing on the trees, and cute wildlife. This is the only hotel i have ever been to that lets you go to all 8 specialty dinner restaurants including sushi/hibatchi that was delightful. The resort had great food, great bars and awsome bartenders, security can be spotted patroling at all hours of the day and the beach is clean with waitresses serving you while you tan. the room was clean and the bathroom has a very unique design. plenty of activities and always something to do. Amazing trip and very fun."

"I was very excited to stay at this hotel, but clearly my husband and I were disappointed. We were treated like a King and Queen upon arrival to impress us with our VIP breakfast the next day. This turned out to be a total time waster of two and one-half hours of excessive pressure to join their time share program starting out at $39,900 which finally worked its way down to $7,000 when we got up and walked out after being insulted for wasting their time. Oh and the hotel credit they promise you is only given when you stick it out for the full five hours of their presentation. It really put a damper on the atmosphere. Going to the pool we heard from five other couples about their timeshare experience similar to ours. When you say no that should be the end of it. People don't care to go on vacation to be harassed and treated rudely. Oh yeah and when you go to voice your complaint to management, there is no on on the staff who will give you the time of day to listen.
Not enough chairs at the main pool unless you get up at 6:00 a.m. to reserve your chairs.
The food left a lot to be desired. The only restaurant worth eating at was the Asian. We ended up eating there two nights.
The website indicates that there are dress codes for some of their restaurants. My husband and I dressed up accordingly, but they don't enforce it consistently. Seems pretty unfair to those of us who complied.
The Italian restaurant told us we needed to pay for our wine.......regardless of what we ordered. So what exactly is 'all inclusive'.
The hotel newsletter is no where to be found. There is no communication on activities etc. so you need to ask around.
It indicates that with the Privilege upgrade you have a butler who can assist with things like reservations, etc. Except he gives you a non-working extension and can't be found anywhere. When brought to the attention of the front desk, they indicated we should just let them know what we need. So technically there is no so called 'butler service'. We carried our own luggage to the lobby on our day of departure, as a butler or bell boy was not available.
The rooms are musty smelling and our clothes always felt damp.
Room service has no coffee, but they can send you milk. We were told to go to the coffee shop. 'Really???'
I found the management staff rude and unfriendly. The bartenders were the only friendly staff.

"The staff was very friendly and the resort was nice but the room I booked was not what I expected at all. It was out of date it seemed lika a flashback to the 90's. For the privilege package I paid for the accommodations were not bigger or any more luxurious than the regular rooms, in fact the only difference was I had a jacuzzi tub which I had to have the staff come turn on for me a half hour to 45 min before I wanted to use it. When the tub was being filled I think more water was leaking on the floor than was going in the tub with black stuff floating all over the patio with it. Good thing I was on the ground floor, if there was people below I imagine they would have been pretty angry. Also outside where the tub was, along the wall between the top of the wall and the ceiling was mold which was pretty hard to miss. I found the food very oily and limited in the resturaunts, the buffet had them all beat! I would not recommend this place to anyone and don't have any plans on returning."

"I spent a long week end at Ocean Coral Turquesa, and I have to say that a long week end was definitely not long enough at the Ocean Coral! It was the most beautiful resort that I have stayed at, so far, in Mexico. The grounds, pools and beach were kept very clean. The staff was very nice and polite! BUT, I must say, and no fault of the resort at all, the sky was cloudy from about 1:00 PM until the sun went down. If your like me and you want/love a sunny vacation, you may consider waiting until later in the year. May I recommend warmer heated pools for the cooler temperatures to the resort managers."

"We have just returned from our holiday at the Ocean Coral Turquesa and we feel it is one of the best vacations we've ever had (16/10-23/10/12)!! we couldn't believe the splendor and beauty of the rooms and grounds of the hotel. I had read most of the reviews before booking and am now wondering what those with negative impressions could have been drinking (or smoking). Now, this is probably off season, so we didn't have to stand in line for anything, except at the understaffed pool bar---but we quickly realized that if you go back to your poolside lounge chair and wait two minutes, the efficient and charming waiter or waitress will bring you the drink of your dreams, and another, and another.
The food was absolutely devine, except for the hamburgers at the snack places---but the salads, ceviche, pizza and nachos there were fine. We loved the Italian restaurant, especially. Breakfast was far superior to that served at other all-inclusives we've been to, with smoked salmon, omelettes, a wonderful variety of cheeses and breads, as well as the expected papaya, pitayas, pIneapple plus tinned peaches, pears, mandarin oranges, and more geared toward US tastes. There were all the popular breakfast cereals, as well, and lots of juices.
There was lots of variety at the buffet lunch and dinners, but the a la carte restaurants were good and made one feel more elegant and special of course.
The pools are large and clean. The one near buildings three and four is quiet and most relaxing. It seems to be designated as the 'Priviledge' pool, but don't be confused by that. Only the beach in friont of the pool is for the fee paying 'Privilege' guests. The water sports, kayaking, sailing, etc. charge $3.00 US but if there aren't other people waiting, you can stay out longer than the advertised hour.
Now, the down side; the front desk is staffed by mean Hotel Mgmt. At check-in, they werent going to let us in because my printer malfunctioned just before we left home and I couldn't print out my voucher. She verified my name, that I had paid for the week etc., but still insisted that I open up my lap top and send her the verification email I'd been sent. Her email address was complex and it took forever while lots of people were waiting behind me to check in. Finally, a much more competent woman sent her to help others, and allowed me to check in without the sacred voucher. We were also locked out of our room in the middle of our stay. We weren't provided with an explanation, and only one key was reactivated, which made another long long trek to the front desk necessary. I agree with the other reviews that the front desk people are not up to par. Most all of the staff were absolutely accommodating, cheerful, and kind. We only saw one instance of rudeness on the part of a hostess in the general dining room toward us as well as toward her co-workers. The dining room was nearly empty, but she had a problem with our desire to sit at a table for four when we were just two. It was the only unpleasantness we saw.
For the price, this is an absolutely magnificent experience--
We are already planning our next trip!

"Hard working staff but unfortunately not enough of them to give a quality service. We noticed that all the specialty restaurants had empty tables and wouldn't take more guests because the minimal staff couldn't furnish enough service. We didn't agree with the 'NO' reservation policy they had for these specialty restaurants and had to line up at 5:30 to get a spot if not you got a beeper and had to wait between 1 to 2 hours before getting a spot. It's a shame because the food was top quality when you were lucky enough to eat there. They should review this policy as it becomes very frustrating for the guests."

"We chose this location because of the value and location and after 15 days, it was the right choice.
We got in later in the day so we were not asked about the Time Share so cannot comment on it but checking was smooth and easy and we were in our rooms within 10 minutes. The first smell from the room was the musty smell but after a couple of minutes it was not noticable for the rest of the stay (it is 85 degrees with 80% humidity, what would you expect). The room was clean and spacious and we got what we were offered, a partial ocean view which was not bad especially watching the cruise ships early in the morning and late in the evening. Our room was cleaned and restocked most days by 2:00.
Food - the buffet was like any buffet, similar food night after night with a different theme, some better than others but always fresh fruit and salads, always fish and steak. Breakfast was almost always the same but you could get a made to order omlet. The service in the buffet was unbelievable, especially after they got to know you (find a waiter or waitress you like and ask to sit in their area). The folks that sat you were friendly and outgoing and always had something polite to say and the managers were checking on how things were going. I did not starve during my two weeks. Most of the lunches were at one of the snack bars and the service in those was just as good as the buffets. We ate at the Score three nights and I cannot complain about anything in their other than the music was a little loud. One thing to make sure to have is some nice casual clothes if you are interested in some of the other resturants because they do not allow shorts, tank tops or flip flops and their is always lines so be patient. The servers quickly became familiar with your drinks and your desires and after a few days they did not need to ask what you wanted. It was two weeks of pampering.
The service on the beach.....amazing. They also knew what we were drinking by the second or third day and would just ask if we wanted our normal. They came around every 30 minutes so there was rarely a time I could not have a drink in my hand. This also goes for the lobby bar but their are periods that the waitresses are not around quite as frequently.
Internet service was slow to connect but once connect...no problems. Finding a place on the beach was easy unless you came down at 10:30 and then everything was taken. The pool was a different story but we did not travel this far to spend our days by a swimming pool so it did not matter.
Entertainment staff.....beyond belief. Funny, engaging, would eat lunch with the guest in the snack bars. They had activities going all day long at the two pools and often on the beach as well as into the night.
. even though it is all-inclusive, a dollar or two for those that serve you who deserve it goes a long way. We spend around $150 in tips during the two weeks and they spoiled us at every turn (we had the cheapest package). Also, depending on the ocean, the snorkeling by the resort can be pretty crappy but if you are willing to walk a half mile, there are some great areas about 100 yards off shore. Also, depending on the time of the year (summer and fall), we got to see three turtle nest hatch while we were there.
When my wife and I travel, we do not have predetermined expectations so we are willing to go and enjoy our time. This trip was one of our best ever and the service, by far the best we have ever had. We would difinitely return to this resort for another two week stay."

"Went Easter Week 2012. Plus: Large comfortable rooms, no mustiness, great pools and bars but barstock was horrid. They did restock the minifridge daily. Nice stretch of beach, plenty of acreage for number of guests but needs many more chairs beach- and pool-side. If not claimed by 6:30 am you were standing all day. Free room service was actually pretty good. they should either limit restaurant reservations or have day-ahead reservations so we could take an earlier seating rather than taking sleeping kids to a late seating. Minus: Strategic areas of resort crowded, always trying to get you to upgrade to premium to use beach huts (many were unused but wanted $60/day per person to upgrade!??!!!), special restaurants, several restaurant meals were with upcharges that were rediculous ($35 extra for a steak???), no option for wifi in rooms. Although plenty of beach and many pools, needed many more chairs. Half the chairs were broken anyway. Towel service ended at 3 pm which was annoying. Worst: the specialty restaurants won't take reservations, but if you miss the line at 6 pm you won't be seated, if ever, not before 9:30 pm. Possibly better at non-peak season weeks. Buffet restaurant was a lousy pit. One of the worst we've encountered in 30 trips. Better option was to dine in rooms or just have burgers/snacks at the sports bar. Staff was great and always helpful. The specialty restaurants did provide great food once a precious table was available. Nice touch was coffee shop (with sandwiches) and sports bar with snacks and burgers. We had great weather, no illnesses or bad encounters to cloud our opinions. We'd consider returning for a non-holiday week but wouldn't return during peak season."

"Check-in was expeditious with a drink in hand, we were welcomed to enjoy all food, beverage and facilities until our room was available at 3 PM and we gained entry to it right on time. We booked Privilege and the associated amenities were well worth it. The VIP Lounge, premium liquor at all bars and within our room's mini refrig were appreciated and plentiful. We had free WiFi in our room. Although there was seaweed on the beach, we spent most of our time around the 'relaxing' pool. We avoided the other 'kiddie, activities, and drunk' pools by choice although they also looked good. The property is cleaned constantly, and the grounds are magnificient. Food was always good, although I did get really ill for 24 hours after eating the tuna at the Italian restaurant. We recommend the Japanese, Crepe and Fusion (within the Privilege Lounge) restaurants for dinner. Lunch at the Buffett is also good with a daily changing variety. Staff was always friendly and very accomodating to our every need. They did try to converse with us and we were always greeted with Hola by everyone. We will learn to speak Spanish prior to our return next year. We had no one pressure us about time shares. Forget any negative reviews you read - this place is really worth a stay."

"The resort is great the place is very well maintained and staffed, there is a little too much emphasis on 'privilege' status. The people were frankly obnoxious when it came to the 'privilege status', which was the main reason I was not fully satisfied with my stay. They even became threatening and did not observe the Mexican constitutional right for every person to have access to the beach. Under Mexican Law, beaches and waterways are publicly owned and access to them cannot be denied. The people who manage the resort should be made aware of this and should not try to bully guests who want to use THE PUBLIC beach. I was born in Mexico and know the constitution of the country. Frankly they overstepped their boundaries and should be made aware of it. It was offensive to me as a professional (MD)and to my sensitivities as a guest, when I quietly unobtrusively tried to use a lounge chair and I believe they owe me an apology and should be more sensitive when they become threatening and abusive to a guest at their resort."

"I can firmly state that I will never stay at Ocean Turquesa or another H10 Resort ever again.
It is my feeling that a number of the features advertised about this resort were not accurate.
It was stated that this was a 'Five Star Resort' which would only be the case if the most stars possible was twentyfive.
I knew that things were not going to be good when I ordered a virgin strawberry drink and the bartender poured some sugar flavored juice into a blender with ice and served it to me.
First of all the food was equivalent to what you would get at most American fast food restaurants such as McDonalds, Taco Bell or Dennys.
It was misrepresented in the promotional web sites as 'an extraordinary buffet' and even the signage on the front window mistated it as 'gourmet buffet'.
A large majority of the food was pre - prepared or processed and not freshly made for a specific venue.
I watched as food service employees poured bulk packages of food out into service trays.
One night I ate at the Ritratto d'Italia where the promotional description stated 'you can enjoy an authentically Italian evening'
There is no way that the lasagna I ate was much better than what you would find from a pre - packaged TV dinner.
The hamburgers that were served were equivalent to those found at your average public school cafeteria. I could see them separate the patties from each other with a piece of freezer paper between them.
The exact same burgers were served from the outdoor food carts as at The Score, which is descibed as 'classic American fare'.
I decided to try 'room service' in hope of finding better food. It was the same as everything that was being served at both the 'gourmet buffet' as well as the theme restaurants.
I will go as far as saying the the pizza delivered to my room was the same mediocre pizza served out of the self service 'pizza box' at the snack bars.
I will also say that the pizza I get from Dominos is a better quality pizza than what I was served.
I looked at the containers that milk was being 'serviced' from and it came out of a box. There was no fresh milk to be had anywhere.
So much of the food was deep fried and it looked that way sitting under the heat lamps in an effort to keep it 'fresh'.
Even the 'Coco Puff' cereal being served from large bowls was stale.
Some of it was later used to create one of the deserts that tasted equally bad.
Needless to say I ended up eating fruit for most all of my meals.
Under 'Facilities' it says that Ocean Coral and Turquesa 'offers you the chance to play a wide variety of sports throughout you(r) stay'.
It makes it look like there is windsurfing, catamarans, kayaks and sailing available from the resort at no charge. But everything is extremely pricey for the guests who thought these activities would be available at no charge.
As far as communication, there is a lot to be desired.
There were no toll free telephone numbers for the resort, so that people could not call and ask questions about the resort.
You could ask three people the same question and get three different answers.
I do not blame the native Mexicans for this lack of communication; it is the fault of the resort operators for not providing enough people that speak fluent english and that are willing to tell you the important details.
I made sure to tip the native Mexicans because I knew that they were working hard for a minimal wage.
Upon arrival I was told that a meeting had been set up for me to meet for breakfast with someone the next day. I asked if it was about timeshares and was told 'no'.
Sure enough my breakfast meeting was about buying a timeshare.
This operation is what I would call a 'bait and switch'. You think you are getting gourmet food but it is clearly not. Even one of the english speaking employees finally admitted that to me after asking several poignant questions.
You think that you are getting all kinds of activities, but they are very pricey and it is hard to get someone that speaks english well enough to give you all of the details.
The rooms were adequate and clean enough not to draw any complaints.
The grounds were also nicely manicured and there were plenty of chairs and recliners to use.
The service employees such as waiters, hostess, beach attendants, ect. all worked hard for their money.
It really would not be that hard or expensive for the operators to make some improvements so that more people would want to return.

"We really enjoyed our stay in Cancun. I only wish that when we booked our trip we were told that we could of upgraded to PREMIUM. When we checked in they could have told us then that there was an upgrade available. It was never mentioned at all. The bookit van was 50 min. late picking us up for the dinner cruise. Therefore, we had to sit on the very top of the ship and watch all the excitement down below. Other than these two things our trip was fun!"

"Great resort with quality service and good quality food. Enjoyed our stay immensely. Food was good, great lattes at coffee bar, excellent Mexican and Italian restaurants. Good breakfast buffet. Good cocktails and other drinks, disppointed didnt have choice of other beers. Nice pool side and ocean side games. Great entertainment staff for daily night shows and dances. Couple of things to watch out for in general are getting into time-share deals at airport and making sure you keep towels and door keys safely as not returning them could cost a fortune. Also felt sometimes some service staff were too enthusiastic to get tips, a general observation around Cancun area. Another disspointment is that they wouldnt get coffee in the morning for room service."

"Upon arrival we had to wait for our room to be ready, then another hour while the room that we booked was ready Jr Suite Partial view. On Friday, a painting crew started painting rooms all around us, including the room next door and the balcony. Noise, no privacy and very strong paint fumes.
This was the same day as the wedding we were there to attend and the only solution offered was to move us at 3 pm, the wedding was to be at 2 pm. They offered to have a bellhop move it while we were at the wedding, but we had a room surrounded by workers and we did not want to leave cell phones, passports and credit cards out or take all our luggage to a wedding on the beach. Restaurants were closed to guests due to private parties repeatedly. Privilege Package is pushed to you as you check in. You are NOT special otherwise. No one saw us to our room, we had to find it. The bed was good, the room was clean, the drinks were good. We did not get diet drinks in our minibar as requested."

"We had a very large group for my friend's wedding. The Ocean Turquesa Resort really catered to everyone's wants/needs. Whether you want to relax, eat, lounge, or party, there is a place for it there. The only thing that could have been better was in the room: water leaks under the glass walls of the shower. Other than that, the facilities were well maintained, staff was incredibly nice, and the activities offered were non-stop. One of the best vacations I've ever had! I plan on returning in the future."

"We cannot express how wonderful this trip was. The resort was beautiful and very well kept. Staff members were beyond courteous and the food was great. Our room was very clean and nicely put together. Although we did not participate in any extra tours there were tons of options available every day.
Just make sure to exchange money or bring change for tips as we had a hard time breaking bills. The service is so amazing we couldn't help but leave extra.
Make sure to bring something a little dressier for the upscale restaurants (especially guys because long pants are required at some places).
The other really nice part is that it's only about 20-25min from the airport so no long rides.
We will definitely return!!"

"This resort is beautiful and the staff are wonderful. They are always very friendly and helpful without being intrusive on your vacation time. The resort itself is beautiful, very clean everywhere including the rooms. I would recommend bringing your own pillow as the beds are very firm and the pillows too big and hard. The Caribbean is humid and the rooms can be humid but this can be corrected with the air conditioning. The rooms are quite soundproof. The selection of restaurants is great and the selection allows for anyone to find something they like. The Spa was a wonderful experience and great value. Absolutely a resort we will return to and recommend it to anyone, any age! We loved it and the staff!!"

"at first we did not get a room I was happy with, we were with a wedding party and were on the complete opposite end of the resort, although they did not have a room available that day, they did change our room the next afternoon, the room had a beautiful view of the pool and ocean, the staff were all very professional and polite. the grounds of the hotel are beautiful and spotless. the buffet was ok and there was always a huge variety. the italian restaurant was wonderful, and although i did not eat at the japanese restaurant the rest of our group raved about it. I also booked out transfers from airport to the hotel through book it. com and best day travel were wonderful, polite and on time and very informative on where to shop ( we took a trip in to playa del carmen).the rooms are very clean but do have a musty smell, due to the humidity, if you turn the air conditioner on high it helps. also we were with a group of 70 people for a wedding and we had the best price by far for the hotel"

"Our vacation was wonderful. Some things that could be improved upon. The beds & pillows were hard. The rooms next to the elevator are at a big disadvantage as the elevators are noisy which made sleeping rough. We had to switch rooms after two nights of that. Our new room was pretty musty smelling as it was on the ground floor. But quiet.
We weren't crazy about the Japanese Restaurant. The Italian & Mexican were good. Mike's Coffee Shop needs to open at least by 8am. That's when you want a great cup of coffee! The Spa was nice! Our pool waitress was outstanding. We loved her. So sweet & friendly. One of the waiters in Casa Del Mar Buffet Restaurant became our friend and was happy to see us every morning."

"My husband and I stayed at the Ocean Turquesa for our one year anniversary and all I can say is WOW! It was amazing! The service is outstanding, staff is very friendly and there for you all the time. The restaurants are great, especially the Italian restaurant. The chicken and the beef are probably the best I've ever had. The resort is beautiful and big. You have everything you need right there. No need to go outside really. We only went on a shopping tour to Cancun for several hours and I was sad to leave the resort for that long.
When we booked our vacation we got an upgrade to a partial ocean view room but when we arrived at the resort we got an upgrade on top of the upgrade and got a room with a jacuzzi and a complimentary bottle of wine and some chocolate desserts.
I would definitely recommend this resort and would stay there again!

"My husband and I would recommend bookit with 5 stars we've booked with them 3 times now and never been let down by any part of the booking process. We stayed at Ocean Turquesa Oct. 3rd to 9th 2011. We never had a bad meal the entire trip! With 3 huge pools to choose from and a wonderful beach view we never had a boring scenery for the day. The staff was extremely friendly. There were not many people there which made our stay even more relaxing. There was a welcome breakfast we thought was to show us the area but actually a sales presentation to buy future vacations, didn't understand why we didn't want to buy anything and when we finally got out of the presentation we were given an 80.00 credit for an adventure off the resort. All in all our trip was worth every minute, beautiful resort, wonder staff, and outstanding amenities."

"My husband and I spent 4 nights and 5 days in Puerto Morelo at the Ocean Turquesa Resort. We had a lovely time. The hotel is beautiful. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. This resort is very customer service oriented. We especially loved the beach umbrella huts. Out of all of the meals we ate, we each had one meal a piece that we didn't care for...the MAJORITY of the food was very good and freshly prepared. The rooms are a little humid, but it IS the Caribbean! We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking to get away from life for a few days!"

"Overall the vacation was good. We had requested a King, but we ended up with two doubles. They pushed them together, and truly you could not feel the crack. However it was a VERY large bed so we switched to a king room the next night. The beds were extremely hard as well as the pillows. Depending on who you booked with depends on what extras you get. Meaning bathrobes, slippers, etc.. I never smelled the smells that others were complaining about. The property is very large so it can take a minute to get to your room. The food is little to be desired. Dinner was OK, but I have had better food at other resorts. The upside is that I did not over indulge in the food so no weight gain:) All in all it was a good relaxing weekend. Would I want to go back, probably not, but for the price and a long weekend I would tell my friends it is a nice cheep quick get away. "

"Nice place to visit, we stayed there Spring 2010, some of the line ups to get reservations for the A La Cartes were long and you could only book on the day you wanted to go. Watch out for the timeshare run. They slip a card under your room door 'Inviting' you to join the Privilege and it ends up being a pressured timeshare sales pitch because as per Mexico law they only have one chance to hit you up for timeshare. "My wife and I really enjoyed our stay.The staff were real friendly and alot of fun.There was always something to do.We thought the hotel was very clean,especially the bathrooms.The restaurants were pretty good and had alot of variety.The rooms were comfortable but weren't great,our hairdryer didn't work and the lock on our door didn't work,but the maintenance crew fixed it within 30min.I definitely would recomend this hotel and hope to return myself."

"We loved the Ocean Turquesa by H 10. We went there last year, we went again this year and God willing we will visit it again next year. All in the resort is good. Acomodations are great, the rooms are very clean. I saw the cleaning ladies washing the room's floors every day. The entretainment staff is great, they do a great job. The food crew, waiters, waitresses, bartenders, cooks, etc are great. It a a customer service driven place. We have so great memories. My 6 years old daughter enjoyed every minute of our vacation. My husband loves the place since it is are very family orinted place. One of the big highlights of the trip was the prehispanic show...it was amazing. We loved the chocolate night...my daughter loved the place by the kid's pool where the little ones paint a clay craft. The restaurants are awesone, the food is great. Big complements to the chefs! Thank you to Alejandra, Veronica, Luis, Victor, Oscar, Jorge, Lazaro, Hector, Erica, Roger, Johan and all of the people working for this resort we had a wonderful time. If you visit this hotel ask for a Mayan coffe....absolutely delicious. This was our fourth trip booked by bookit.com we love the website!"

"Ocean turquesa is one of the best resorts by far. I've always been a budget traveler and have come to expect less when paying less. However Ocean Turquesa was no the case. super friendly staff, awesome amenities and lots of visually appealing scenery and surroundings. I would recommend this resort to any one looking for an affordable, luxury escape. My girlfriend and I enjoyed it so much, we plan on going every year in the spring. "

"I just came two days ago. I loved this Resort, it is beautiful and luxury place. It exceed our expectations, it is better than the photos shows. The rooms are big, I love the decoration. The resort has a lot of entertainment shows day and night. The architecture is different and modern. It has all in one. The Sensai it was the best restaurant, and the Villa Marina. This place is very relaxing. We didn't buy the privilege and we were okay, the only thing it was waiting for couple of minutes to enter in the theme restaurant, but we did not care. We enjoy our visit in Cancun, and definitively we will return to this resort. "

"Far exceeded my and my friends expectations. Extremely nice and helpful staff, beautiful resort, nightly activities, comfortable room; what else can you ask for? My only complaint was the drinks weren't strong enough but as long as you find a good bartender and/or waitress and stick with them, they'll look out for you. Still not a big deal though, moreso a personal preference. Great location as well. "
