Spend a long weekend at Hotel Colonial during Day of the Dead (Nov. 2015). The historic property is attractive and perfectly located near the zocalo. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a well deserved reputation for their classic take on Puebla cuisine. No complaints whatsoever.

The people! The place! The chilaquiles for breakfast! The Hotel Colonial is superb in all ways. The location is ideal, right in the center of the Centro Historico, just a couple blocks from the Zocalo. The room was huge and so clean you could eat from the floor. The bed was comfortable. The restaurant/bar has a great selection of delicious foods. I had the chilaquiles each day, and I'm a vegetarian, so they made them to my order without chicken or other meats. I've missed them every morning sinc... Read more

My wife and I have stayed many times at the Hotel Colonial over the past 25 years, and each stay reinforces our opinion that the Colonial is the best value hotel in Mexico. The original building, a Jesuit monastery attached to the beautiful church of La Compania that stands next to it, dates from the... Read more

Returning after a 20-year lapse, I found Colonial as welcoming as I remembered. It's decor reflects Puebla's Spanish Colonial heritage, just steps from downtown's historic sites. Street noise was the primary reason I had not gone back, and I still warn against staying above the traffic. This time I was on the opposite side of the building overlooking the pedestrian-only passage by the hotel door. Request it. Hotel and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful.

For the price, it's hard to beat this hotel for location & amenities. Rooms facing south & east are super, though they can be a tad noisy with the windows open especially on the first floor. Great reservations assistance and helpful staff. Definitely will return!
