"What a fabulous way to 'unwind' after the holiday rush! The Maya hotel was everything the brochure said it would be. The grounds were clean; the staff very friendly, and the 'all inclusive' was ideal for our extended, family of 8. The fact that we had ages ranging from 15 year olds to 80 year olds was a concern, but everyone had a wonderful time and found things to do, whether it was attending the scheduled activities or simply resting under a thatch roofed shelter, pool side, or on the beach. The only issue I found disappointing was the New Year's Eve dinner and activities. The meal, although interesting, did not offer an alternative meal to anyone who did not eat exotic appetizers, Seafood or Lamb.
I would definitely recommend this vacation and am planning on returning again."

"My husband and I and our two 20-something daughters stayed April 29-May 6, 2012. Lovely resort, enjoyable restaurants, attentive staff, but were relatively disappointed with the outdated feel of our suite. Although perfectly fine, we were underwhelmed by how nondescript it was compared to the quality of the rest of the resort/grounds as a whole or commensurate with the cost of our stay. As an admittedly lame example, the bathroom hair dryers in both our suites were definitely 'old school' in that they consisted of a wall mounted blower with an attached plastic hose (much like an old vacuum cleaner) through which the air flowed and were completely ineffective for 'styling' one's hair. Wish I had packed my dryer from home. Obviously not a huge deal, but just kind of in keeping with the 'feel' of the suite. Had we opted to stay at one of the less expensive resorts on the grounds, our suite would have been completely satisfactory and in keeping with our expectations. Simply expected a little more from the Maya. By no means a deal breaker, but simply wanted to give future guests a 'heads up' as to our impression."

"I love Riviera Maya...I have been there 10 times, 9 with my wife, 5 with my family...this last trip was our best yet. I have three daughters ages 8,10 and 12. They loved the pools, the free ice cream and smoothies, the creperie (and more ice cream) and the waves (both ocena and wave pool). They also really liked the food, and the private pool next to our room (not sure the Lindo has this). We stayed at the Paraiso Maya because I needed internet in the room (I have to work with portable computers on vacation,could be worse places to work). Anyhow, the Paraiso Maya was almost 2x the Lindo in price, and it was not worth the difference except for the fact that the Lindo does not have in room internet (lobby only). The Lindo uses the same pools, the same dining, and has (in our opinion) a nicer lobby. The service at the Paraiso Maya was excellent, and we kept tellling ourselves that the extra money was paying for better service. However, long story short, the service at the Lindo next door is just as good. If you do not need internet in your room, and there is price difference, stay at Lindo. The other hotels do not have the wave pool. We have stayed at 4 different hotels in Riviera Maya, 2 on Cozumel, all 4 star or above, and Iberostar is at the top for service and amenities. If you are going to snorkel, go south to Akumal...Grand Sirenis has perhaps the best snorkeling off the beach in central America. You can not really snorkel at Iberostar...too many waves/choppy. We ended this week with another hotel in Akumal that we tried out, not all inclusive, a nice change from the usual AI experience, that is another review:-)"
