"Excellence Playa Mujeres is more than a 5-star resort - it's more like 10 stars.
The spectacular all-inclusive, adults-only resort is a near-carbon copy of Excellence Riveria Maya where my wife & I have stayed twice. Both are equally superb, although the resort at Mujeres has a slightly-smaller footprint.
In any case, this visit was incomparable. Our second-floor room faced a forest of palm trees, at a perfect height so our balcony (with heart-shaped bed) was level with the coconuts. The trees were just across a 15-foot-wide 'canal' for want of a better term that winds its way through the resort's remarkably-manicured grounds. The canal is only four feet deep so you can take a floater and just cruise around forever.
The eight restaurants offer superb cuisine - French, Italian, Indian, Mexican, Asian, a tapas restaurant, a lobster restaurant and a grill house. Reservations are not needed.
There are roughly nine bars, mostly every 100 feet; you'll never go thirsty.
Every employe is extraordinarily pleasant and friendly. EVERYONE you encounter will smile and say 'Hello' (sometimes in Spanish, sometimes in English). Best of all, their friendliness seems genuine, not forced.
Guests are pampered beyond belief. Staffers, all of whom speak excellent English, are quick to pick up on your slightest hint of wanting something. It's almost embarrassing at times.
I could go on, but in sum this is The Perfect Place to vacation. We'll return for sure."

"All I can say here is that if you stay at this place you will not be disappointed. The service is superb from arrival to departure. The staff is the best I have ever seen and are exceedingly friendly at all times. Thoroughly enjoyable with wonderful food at every restaurant we tried. Only one slight problem is the ocean water. The beach is great but the water is full of see weed and is very uninviting with virtually no waves. All of the pools are great and unless you just like salt water you probably won't miss the ocean at all. If you are looking for a place to play in the ocean this is probably not your best choice, but for everything else this is world class luxury. Would definitely return. Actually we kept hoping to get stranded but it didn't happen."
