"This was our 2nd stay in Viva Maya. The resort has changed since our 1st stay 6 years ago - a new hotel buildings have replaced family villas, gone are the mini golf course ans the play ground. But overall the place is still very well maintained, the same quality of service.
The only minor complaint is the WiFi. It is nearly non-existent. You can not get WiFi in the room, so you need to go to the public areas marked 'Hot Spot'. But even there you'd have to get lucky to get on line and not to be dropped while on Skype. So, we just went to Playa Del Carmen's Starbucks to get online and check our emails.
Other then that minor inconvenience we have no complaints whatsoever.

"We just returned from viva Wyndam Maya and had a great time. This was our Honeymoom trip. The food was very good and plentiful. The drink were plentiful and the waitstaff was very nice. Ou r only complaint was that we had asked for a King Size Bed but were put in a room with 2 Double Beds. I would say this is a solid '3 Star' vacation. We got what we paid for and more."

"Well...this was a good deal for what we paid... The hotel was clean and the beach is nice. Drinks were plentiful and rooms were not musty or smelly.
The Buffet Dinning Hall is cafeteria style with no A/C...so it's uncomfortable. Food was not good, but also not horrible. The Mexican A La Carte was amazing and the tequila there was yummy! With a little tip for the cleaning girl and a note, we DID receive bottled water daily...but the water in the machines at the bars are filtered and you Will NOT get sick from it. The staff was friendly and helpful. All they ask is for respect. I have traveled all over the world and Americans get a bad reputation because they are too mouthy. I try speaking Spanish and always use my 'Please and Thank you's' and have never had a problem.
There is a sign on the property showing the creatures that you may see on the property. I wouldn't go back to this hotel as I was not impressed, but you do get what you pay for. I would've like the bars and buffet hall to be air conditioned."

"STAY AWAY! We were looking to explore other hotels. First impression was nice. We arrived to the room only to notice that it was partially clean. Noticing the dirty toilet, it should of been our first sign, but we dismissed it. The hotel provided us with another room. On our second day, after eating at the buffet, I got food poisoning. On the third day my husband got food poisoning. I was feeling a bit better but stayed in the room with my sick spouse, regreting that we didn't select hotel with more accommodations, and nicer interior. FOUR DAYS WASTED and not in a fun way! The hotel does not provide bottle water daily. It took our stomach two weeks to fully recover. The staff is okay, the beach is not cleaned daily, cigarette butts everywhere, the fumes from the motorized vehicles is very strong, and the constant solicitation interferes with the idea of unwinding. WORST VACATION EVER."

"Staff were great, with exception of folks at the front desk and concierge. It was very confusing on which of the 3 desks to go to. Getting reservations was impossible unless you got them the first night for the whole week. Other than that, the stay was fabulous."

"This was our second trip to the Viva Wyndham Maya and again it did not disappoint. There were 10 family members in our party ages 9 - 70 and we all loved it. The resort has comfortable clean rooms, a great buffet, snack bar and friendly staff who work very hard to make sure you are enjoying your stay. The evening shows are entertaining for the whole family. We would recoomend this resort to anyone wanting a great relaxing fun holiday."

"Our family vacation was a total blast at this resort! A lovelyl resort with a gorgeous beach! Your days will be filled with tons to do (if you chose) with the entertainment staff all day and night...an amazing goup of young people that couldn't work harder to make you vacation a success! Something for everyone...my teens enjoyed the trapeze...my hubby enjoyed beach volleyball and I enjoyed relaxing on the beach when we weren't all enjoying the poolside and evening entertainment together! It may not be the most luxurious resort but it was clean and well maintained. It may not be the finest food but it was good and lots of choices around the clock. At almost half the cost of all the other inclusives I researched...It was an incredible deal and worth every penny!"

"OMG this hotel was horrible. I IMMEDIATLEY relocated to another hotel in Cancun. I would compare this resort to a truck stop motel. We arrived at night and there were bats flying around all over the reception desk (which is outdoors) There were cockroaches near your door and huge RATS! All located right on the resort. The rooms felt dirty and you could here when the next room would flush their toilet. It was the worst experience of my life. On top of that be booked two rooms and when we checked in there was only one available. Unfortunately we couldn't relocate until the next day. We woke up, went to have breakfast and there were flies flying all over the buffet food. Horrible on many so many levels. Do not waste your money. The pictures look nothing like the actual resort. Very low budget."

"This was not our first trip to Mexico, but not one of our best. Apon arrival, the staff was not friendly or welcoming. We experienced workers carrying on personal conversations while we waited to be helped on several occasions during our stay. We always travel with another family and because of the children we always request the rooms to be close by. However, this time we were not accomodated-we were actually a hallway apart. On several occassions, we had to call for extra linens and sometimes just for wash cloths that were not left in our room at all. It was very difficult to get dinner reservations in the hotel because by the time we arrived on Tuesday everything was already booked. The activites for the children were very difficult to arrange. We have teenagers, but most activites needed a parent signature. This was not relaxing for the parents. At one time, they were denied using equipment beause they had already used it, for a short period, earlier in the day. The again is not very relaxing for the parents who depend on these activites for the entertainment of the children. I would not recommed this establishment for teenagers who like to be active. Even with the photos the children did with the animals at the hotel was a project. Again, on several occasssions, for various activies and services, we were told to come back in 30 minutes for help without success when we returned. We found that a large party of 8 was very hard to accomadate in this facility-even when we requested to be put into two groups of 4. Even in the spa, we were not greeted friendly by the staff when we were booking services we were paying for. We do a lot of traveling and this was our first experience with both BookIt and the Resort. Unfortunately, this was not the great vacation we had expected."

"It was my first time out of the country without a tour group. My friend and I signed up for the shuttle before we arrived. It was wonderful! We got an email saying what the shuttle service would be wearing and where they would be waiting to ensure we were with the right people. It was perfect and took the stress out of trying to find a cab and then the hotel. Check in was wonderful. We were handed drinks as soon as we got in line. We were told it would be 15 minutes before our room would be ready, so we ran to grab some lunch, then went back to the room. The room was still not ready. We did not get in until 2 hours after check in. Besides that, everything was FABULOUS! I was surprised how clean the resort was for being mostly outdoors. The staff who do the activity lessons are wonderful and the drinks are great. The restaurant was amazing, and the food was terrific. The food at the buffet was like a cafeteria, but everything else made the resort well worth it. If I could have stayed longer I definitely would have!!"

"Just went for a long weekend with my boyfriend (ages 29 & 35) and would not return or recommend to a friend. We waited for 2 hours for our room to be ready, while still in our jeans and traveling clothes so we were so hot. There arent many activities throughout the day, nor is there much going on before 11pm for younger people. The club part is only open from 11m-2am so unless you eat dinner and sit in the lobby bar (the only thing open at that time), theres nothing else going on. Also, one of the main reasons I chose this resort was because there was a swim up bar, except it was so swamped with children that we couldn't even get to it so we continually got out of the tiny pool to go inside for beverages. For an all inclusive resort, there are a lot of restrictions on what you can/can't get and what times. 3 out of the 4 restaurants were reservation only, but we were only allowed 1 reservation for the 3 days we were there. So, we were stuck eating at the same buffet for every meal, which, was so hot that we were too miserable to even eat. The 2 positive things I have to say are that the food is good and the beach is clean."

"My husband and I went to Hotel Viva Wydham Maya for our honeymon in Sept 2010 and had a fantastic time. It was our first visit to Mexico and we would definitley go back, but maybe stay in their Sister Hotel just down the road, purely for a different experience not because there was anything wrong with where we were. The weather wasn't brilliant as it was during the rainy season, but there was so much to do throughout the day it didn't spoil our experience at all. The only problem we encountered was noise from adjoining rooms as the wallls are very thin and sound proofing is non existent (make sure you take some ear plugs for a good nights sleep). We found the food very presentable and there was plenty of choice at the buffet for all tastes and appetites. The food in the restuarants was very good, as was the service. We did plenty of activities whilst we were there including, wind surfing, tennis table tennis, used the gym, dance lessons etc but the best part of the holiday for me was learning to 'fly the trapeez' it is something I have always wanted to do and couldn't believe that I had the opportunity to do so under very helpful supervision. The guys were very patient and encouraging. The entertainment in the evening was very professional and was different every night for the 2 weeks we were there. Would definiatley recommend as a holiday destination. A wonderful experience all round!!"

"Our overall experience was good. The hotel was very organized and the staff was excellent!! The grounds were beautiful and very well kept. The food was alright nothing really to brag about and the buffet wasn't air conditioned which made eating a little uncomfortable. Eating at the snack bar was more enjoyable and very convenient. For the price I would definitely stay again. "

"Our stay was pretty good, the hotel was okay-nothing crazy. They could have more activities, they have a club but it was always empty. If you dont like resorts with a lot of children, dont go here. Dont book any tours at the hotel either- its cheaper outside the hotel. Overall we would give the hotel a 6 out of 10. Only because it wasnt terrible, but it wasnt the best. Next time we go to Playa del Carmen, we'll probably stay at a different hotel. Do go to xel-ha or xcaret. The Coba ruins are great to see, just be prepared to walk! "

"Just returned from my trip to Viva Wyndham Maya, all I can say is WOW! What a great value for the price. I went with my boyfriend and we're between the ages of 23-30. The location could not be any better and everyone was wonderful. I've never seen people work so hard. I have also never seen a beach as nice as this. Definitely a memorable trip! "
