"i did have have a great time on my vacation but there were a couple of problems. the first was that we called the front desk to tell them that our toilet would not flush 3 times and no one came to fix it thank god it happend the last 2 days so we left the hotel with the toilet not fully working. second is that we got locked out of our room twice due to the locks on the door being broken and they had to brake into our room threw the sliding door on the balcony.which didnt make us feels safe. when we talked to other guess's they too had that problem with the door. when we left we gave the front desk 10 none working keys. each time we got locked out it took them at least 2 hours for us to get into our room and one of the times when we got into our room they told us not to leave the room again or we would be locked out again.also as the week went on the service declined. it took a while to get a drink or to be seated at the buffet by a staff member. the last thing and one of the biggest problems was that the staff members would always say yes or we will help you and would not follow threw with it. it seemed that they were trained to say yes no matter what the problem was or if they were going to help you or not. dont get me wrong we had a great time, the place was spotless and beautiful. if the price was a little cheaper i would go back"

"The hotel was fine. As described in trip advisor and all reviews. Beautiful, clean. Nice rooms. food was very good. One major issue was the tranport company. They tried to transfer 5 families to 5 different resorts with one van. I have been to Playa del Carman several times and its a 45 to 50 minute ride. they told me transfer from airport would take 2 hrs. Yes, 3 times as long as needed. I understand having jto make stops, but they were not flexable and told me to take a cab and eat the cost. "

"Our flight was cancelled so we arrived a day and half later than planned and paid for. That put a big downer on all of us. We had planned for the trip in August 2011. Over all the hotel is beautiful and the staff is wonderful. Compliants we did not address were: Ceiling fan did not work. Toilet made a screaming sound with every flush. Alot of door slamming in the middle of night. And it would have helped if we spoke Spanish."

"There is no point where to begin, from the start booking was easy and efficiant. She advised us every step of the way. She recommended and provided all transportation. This was my second booking with her and are looking forward to the next. The Riviera Maya was amazing the staff and the hotel were first class all the way. I felt safe and secure at all times my 9 year old daughter was able to go around joining the Kidz club with a great staff. By day 3 they knew your name and where you were from. They welcomed us every step of the way. The food was good the drinks were plentiful there was never a need for anything. I recommend the Riu Palace Riveria Maya to the world GREAT TIME HAD BY ALL ages from 9 - 50"

"This is a tricky review because we didn't actually stay at the RIU Palace Riviera Maya... The inside of the resort is gorgeous and the grounds were elegant and well taken care of. The pools were crowded, but that was because it was Spring Break. My husband and I enjoyed the bar inside the main lobby while we waited for our friends to arrive.

When we checked in we were told that they were having a 'promotion', but the truth is that they over booked and were trying to get more people to go to the RIU Palace Mexico. We told the front desk clerk that we had to wait until our friends arrived to make any decision. So, once they arrived we went to check it out and were stunned by how 'Miamied' out it was! It looked completely different from the dark tones of the other Palace, but it was still pretty, just different. We looked at the grounds and really liked the 4 pools they had and felt that people were able to spread out more and weren't as congested as it seemed at the Riviera Maya. We also liked the beach much more! So we decided to take them up on the 'promotion' and it was the best thing that we could have done!!!! The next morning the 'Miaminess' was not a big deal.. it was actually quite pretty and clean! The food was excellent and every specialty restaurant we went to was great! That wasn't what we had heard from the people staying at the Riviera Maya. They only downfall was that we had to consistently go to the front desk to inquire about our travel voucher and it seemed that both hotels kept on saying it was the other's responsibility. The day before we had to leave we finally got our vouchers and we get another week free at any RIU!!! I really blame the staff at the RIU Palace Riviera Maya for any miscommunication because they were the ones offering up the 'promotion', but they seemed to know nothing about how to give out the vouchers. The staff at the RIU Palace Mexico was AMAZING! They really tried to get the vouchers for us and every single staff member was super friendly and didn't expect anything, which made tipping even better! Which, you should always tip! They work hard and deserve a little extra!

The review for the RIU Palace Mexico, which we stayed, is allllll 5's across the board!!! We would definitely come back again!"

"I don't have enough good things to say about this hotel and everyone considering a trip to the Cancun/Riviera Maya area MUST consider this hotel if it is in their price range.

My whole family had such a fantastic time. I'm not going to repeat all the other reviews, as the positive reviews are all completely accurate, but it's worth reiterating how wonderful the service and attention to detail of this hotel was. Even at full capacity during the winter holiday, this hotel surpassed every expectation I've ever had of a resort. The staff was always friendly and engaging, never let a drink go empty and worked around the clock to make sure everyone had fun. The resort was also extremely clean at all times. I don't know who runs the management of this hotel but that group deserves a big, big kudos.

Meals were delightful and drinks abundant. The grounds regal and impeccable and beach cleaned and maintained daily. The single complain I have of the hotel was the cold water temperature in the spa jacuzzi! And that was all!

Thank you thank you thank you Riu for making such a fantastic vacation possible for us. We have visited other hotels in the area for years, but none have wowed us like this one. We will be back, and with more friends and family!

"This was our second trip to Playa Del Carmen and it lived up to the memories of our last trip! The only problem we had was figuring out where to put our towels for the day!

Great beach and even better service/staff. Rooms are fine - clean and large enough to spread out....but not meant to stay in for much more than sleeping/getting ready for beach or dinner.

Make sure to bring long pants if you're a guy and want to eat at some of the restaurants...it's about the only rule this place has!

I would come back here every year!"

"We loved this place! Beautiful beach front with long walks available in both directions - which is a bonus considering other beach front properties in Mexico. The hotel was so clean, staff was unbelievable. We took our 9 year old daughter and she had so much fun playing with all the other kids in the pool and ocean. I am getting ready to plan another trip for next spring and CANNOT WAIT to go back."

"Beautiful Hotel and amenities. Staff works very hard to accomodate and provide an enjoyable stay. Lot's to keep you active, even on a rainy weekend, the entertainment team pulled out poker and black jack tables and set up in the lobby. Food was great at every venue, including the plentiful buffets. If you didn't find anything you liked, you should rent a villa or get an efficiency type of establishment to stay in and cook yourself, or stay home this is not the place for you. One of the top in my book over all other AI's and most cruise ships. One of the most breathtaken beaches in the caribbean, and I've seen most. The property immaculant, as well as the rooms. All kept up by very hard working staff. Only downside, is they water down the liquor. Didn't have a decent drink all weekend, even tasted like the draft Dos XX was watery. Also pool could use a major facelift. Not dire, but going to need attention in the next year or so."

"I booked a trip (vacation) to Playa de Carmen, Mexico.

We were treated like royality. Everyone was awesome. We were greeted at the airport by Best Day Tours. They were very professional in their actions and everthing they did. They assited us in booking a tour for site seeing. That tour ccompany was awesome.

The Hotel Riu Palace Riviera Maya was just the way the name says, a palace. Everyone went out of their ways to greet you and to make sure we were taken care of.

If I was gong to grade this resort, booking company, tour companies. I would give them all A 's!!!

We are already planning on going back to the same place next year for a winter time vacation."

"The trip was GREAT, The hotel and facilities were wonderful. The people at the hotel were always going out of there way to make you feel pampered and happy you were there. The food kept me and my family full all the time, I would strongly suggest that you try all of the resturants on the proporty, They are all amazing.



The trip was a little expensive, but we traveled between Christmas and New Years Eve. It would have been expensive anywhere during that time frame."

"Fantastic vacation! Hotel is beautiful and very clean. Staff friendly and helpful.
Huge beach and pool area with lots of chairs (no charge). My husband had a
birthday there and at dinner we had a cake and a serenade plus a bottle of
champagne and a plate of chocolate covered strawberries to the room.
The side trip we took was well done.
Absolutely no complaints - even the weather was good."

"A/C please be awared that is not too cold, and elevators are only located at the front of the building, so keep in mind that if you stay on the 2nd or 3rd floor you will have to take the stairs. Overall I will rate the hotel as excellent considering the staff, location and general quality. "

"This was the BEST vacation I have ever been on. The staff was amazing and super friendly, the rooms were cleaned and maintained twice a day, the pool was to die for, the drinks and food were amazing, and of course the beach is right there!! My friend got married there this past Monday and they did an excellent ceremony with everything she wanted. I would definitely recommend this to others and I plan to go back there myself."

"We spent a week early in March and this is the nicest resort we have stayed at to date. Very elegant hotel, gorgeous beach and ocean, food was very good. Your drink was never on empty because the staff were so efficient and nice. You could walk to Playa Del Carmen and the other Riu resorts. I have nothing negative to say about our holiday and will most definitely return next year."

"This was by far a beautiful trip, Great entertainment, not a lot, but always a band in the courtyard, and a show every night. Which was nice, not over powering, or loud. VERY relaxing. Food GREAT. Bartenders and staff out of this world. Very sweet and nice. Always willing to help you. Pool entertainment was great also. Beach VERY nice, big and swimmable (which we have found not to be the case at other Riviera Maya locations, but at this hotel, the beach was great and you are able to go into the ocean without the need for beach shoes. Nothing Negative to say. Wanting to go back, top class all the way :o)"
